I see where you're coming from. Don't worry. It'll pick up eventually. Just be patient with me, friend.

It was the next morning, Phoebus and his soldiers waiting for Fue's carriage to stop. When it did, Phoebus saluted. "Morning, sir."

Fue groaned as he stepped out, eyes red as he rubbed his forehead.

"Are you alright?"

"I had a little trouble with the fireplace, as well as an incident in my office."

"I see. Your orders, sir?"

"Find the Faunus girl! Forget the thief. She is too difficult to locate, but she has a bond with the Faunus. Capturing the raven is the best way to reach the thief."

A guard then kicked down a door, surprising the baker. They ransacked his shop until they found a covered floor door. When they opened it, they found seven Faunus. When they were brought out, Fue held out a stack of cards toward them. "One thousand lien for the Faunus Esmeralda."

No one spoke.

"LOCK THEM UP!"

Next, guards ripped up a caravan before kicking it into the river, six Faunus popping out of the water, sadly none of them being Aquatic Faunus. A Cat Faunus nearly downed had a Horse Faunus not helped her to shore.

"Two thousand lien for the Faunus Esmeralda!"

None of the six spoke.

"Take them away!"

Phoebus sighed in annoyance and disappointment at Fue.

Finally, they went outside the walls of Minuit and found a small farm with a windmill. A small crowd was gathered near it, along with two old women, one with dark skin and grey hair with bits of black still in it, and another with silvery hair.

"That man has never hurt anyone."

"Fue's gone mad."

"The owner of that farmhouse gave refuge to the Vale Knight himself. He doesn't deserve this."

"We found this Faunus talisman on your property. Have you been harboring Faunus?!"

"Our home is always welcome to the weary traveler. Have mercy, my lord. This home gave refuge to the Hero of Remnant himself."

Fue's eyes widened in rage as he smacked the man's hands away from his cloak. "NEVER mention that man before me! I'm placing you and your family under house arrest until I get to the bottom of this. If what you say is true and you are innocent then you have nothing to fear."

"But we are innocent! I assure you we know nothing of the Faunus!"

Fue slammed the door before walking away, Phoebus next to the door.

"Papa, what will happen to us?" Phoebus stopped to listen. "Will the Vale Knight save us?"

"I'm sorry my child, but not even the greatest of heroes can save us from this horror. It pains me to say this, but Minuit has no hero such as he." Phoebus's eyes shot open, the man clenching his fist to the point he could have drawn blood through his gloves.

Things only escalated when Fue grabbed a guard's spear and used it to barricade the door of the farmhouse. "Burn it," he said to Phoebus.

"What?!"

"Until it smolders. These people are traitors and must be made examples of," he said as he handed Phoebus a torch.

"With all due respect sir, I was not trained to murder the innocent. I was trained to save and protect them."

"But you were trained to follow orders."

"So was Atlas. Look what happened to them."

"Atlas fell because they constantly disobeyed orders, driving their general at the time mad."

"The Vale Knight himself agrees, wishing he could have done something different to save General Ironwood."

"And yet he failed. He and his allies allowed a good man to go mad and die. Will you follow that accursed fool's example?"

Phoebus stepped back towards the house, looked at it, then down at a barrel of water before looking back at Fue. "Yes," he said as he put the torch into the water.

"Insolent coward. You're just like that idiot Arc."

"No greater compliment has ever been given to me."

Fue took another torch from a guard and used it to ignite the house.

Phoebus had to jump out of the way of the falling windmill before jumping into the house through the glass window. Anita and Esmeralda watched in horror but soon felt relief when Phoebus kicked the door open, saving the family. Anita almost dropped her recording scroll out of relief.

After the family thanked the soldier and ran, Phoebus was electrocuted to the point his Aura broke. As he stumbled forward, a second guard slammed the hilt of his sword onto Phoebus's head, making the man fall to the ground. It was the mustache guard that did the deed, his fat partner lifting Phoebus up.

"The sentence for insubordination is death. Such a pity. You threw away a promising career."

"Consider it my highest honor, sir. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I'd like to think he would have stood up to you earlier than I."

"You wish to be like that bastard? Then die the way he deserves to."

Esmeralda grabbed a stone and threw it at Fue's horse, startling it and knocking Fue off. Anita held up her Knock First, pointing the barrel at mustache's sword, and shot it out of the man's hand. Phoebus used this distraction's to elbow the fat one and punched mustache away, knocking out both Aura-less guards. He then jumped onto the startled horse, riding it away.

"Get him! Don't hit my horse! And find the thief! She's here! I know that gunshot anywhere!"

Guards were shooting at Phoebus, most of them missing since none were aiming properly, save for one. He was able to hit Phoebus in the shoulder, making the man fall into the river. The guards then shot into the water.

"Don't waste your bullets! Let the traitor rot in his watery grave! Where is that thief?!"

"Looking for me?!"

They all looked to see Anita in her Faunus disguise, holding Knock First in its base state.

"CAPTURE HERE!"

The guards shot at her, some charging at her with the Minuit standard sword. Anita easily dodged the bullets and charged at the soldiers, knocking many of them out with precise strikes or tripping them with blows to the legs. In the blink of an eye, she pulled the sword out of her staff and held it at Fue's neck, the two glaring into the other's eyes.

"Listen well, old man. I now see you as a target worth robbing, but I'm going to do more than steal your stolen money. I am going to bring your entire kingdom to its knees."

"An idle threat from a mere thief."

"Who happens to be the daughter of someone powerful."

Fue chuckled. "Trivia Vanille? I don't fear her, girl."

"Oh, you should. But my mother isn't the one who you should fear. My father is. Though, you already fear him."

"I fear NO ONE!"

"Yes. You do."

"Then tell me, girl, what mere crime lord has the pleasure to call you his daughter?"

Anita smirked. "Who said my father was a crime lord?" Fue raised an eyebrow. "Next time, old man."

Anita then threw down a smoke bomb. When it cleared, she was nowhere in sight.

Fue growled angrily. "FIND HER! FIND THEM BOTH! IF YOU HAVE TO BURN THE CITY TO THE GROUND, SO BE IT!"

As this was happening, Esmeralda rescued Phoebus from the river, thanking Anita for the distraction, but cursing her for placing such a huge target on herself.

Later that day, massive bonfires were burning all throughout Minuit, making the once beautiful city look like a picture of hell itself.

In the burning streets of Minuit, mustache rode up to Fue. "Sir, we've looked everywhere, and still no sign of the Faunus girl or the thief."

Fue looked down in thought. "I had the entire cathedral surrounded. Guards at every door. That thief should have been at her weakest to show her true form. She should have been too exhausted to think properly. There was no way they could have escaped." Fue then realized the bells were ringing. "Unless," he began as he looked towards the bell tower.

The gargoyles were looking down at Minuit from above, watching everything down below.

"It's like a warzone down there," Nevermore said.

"And I thought things were bad when the Acrideaths attacked," Beowolf said.

"At least Jaune Arc was there for that," Beringel said. "That poor Faunus and human. I'm beginning to fear the worst."

"I know, but not a word to Ténèbres. He's worried enough as is," Nevermore said.

"I'm actually not that worried." They looked to see Ténèbres land behind them. "I'm sure Anita can keep them both safe."

"Yeah! He's right," Beowolf said. "And besides, knowing Esmeralda, she's three steps ahead of Fue and well out of harm's way."

"You really think so," Ténèbres asked.

"Hey, when things cool off, she'll be back."

"What makes you so sure?"

"Because she likes you," Nevermore said. "Take it from us, Tenny, you've got nothing to worry about."

"Yeah! You're irresistible," Beowolf said.

"Knights in shining armor certainly aren't her type," Beringel said.

"But sexy thieves might," Beowolf said, Nevermore smacking the back of his head. "Ow! What did I do?!"

"Tenny?" Ténèbres looked toward the door on the lower level. "Ténèbres," Esmeralda asked as she opened the door.

"Esmeralda?" He rushed down the stairs. "Esmeralda, you're alright! I knew you'd come back," he said happily as he hugged his friend. He then looked around and got a worried expression. "Where's Anita?"

"You rang?" They both looked to see the thief land behind Ténèbres.

"Anni!" Esmeralda ran and hugged her.

"Oh! Someone was worried about little ol' me."

"How could I not?! You attacked Fue alone!"

"You did what," Ténèbres went.

"Eh, I could take him. Ow," Anita went after Esmeralda flicked her forehead.

"Don't worry me like that!"

Anita giggled. "Sorry." She then got serious. "How is he?"

"He," Ténèbres went.

Esmeralda looked towards the hunchback. "You've done so much for us already, my friend, but I must as for your help one more time."

"Yes. Anything." Ténèbres's smile went away when he saw a Faunus carry in a wounded Phoebus. It didn't help that Anita ran up to help.

"This is Phoebus. He's wounded and a fugitive like us."

"Except we didn't have a bullet rush through our shoulders. Fortunately, that's good news," Anita explained. "We just need to dress and bandage the wound and he'll be fine once his Aura recharges and heals him."

"Too bad your father isn't here."

"Can't rely on him for everything," Anita shook her head with a smile.

"I know he can be safe here," Esmeralda said to Ténèbres. "Please, can you hide him?"

"We'd take him to the Court, but the sewerage makes it too risky. One drop from that ankle-deep muk is all that's needed to infect the wound," Anita said.

"This way," Ténèbres led. He then showed a blanket and pillow set up for someone to sleep on, a sight that saddened Anita. Still, she helped place Phoebus on the ground.

He sighed as he opened his eyes. "Esmeralda," he said as she was the first one he saw.

"Shh," she went. "You'll hide here until you're strong enough to move." She then took out a leather jug, biting the cork off.

"Great. I could use a drink." Phoebus groaned in pain as Esmeralda poured the wine on his bullet wound. "Ah! Yes! Fells like a 303 Burgundy. Not an especially good year."

"Too bad we don't have a portable Aura Amplifier," Anita joked.

"A Jaune Arc in your pocket? Now that would be something," Phoebus chuckled.

"That family owes you their lives," Esmeralda said as she stitched the wound shut. "You're either the single bravest soldier I've ever seen or the craziest."

"Heh, if the reports and rumors are to be believed, I've got nothing on the Vale Knight. Apparently, he tried to fight off an entire army of Grimm in the Solitas Tundra by himself before New Mantle reinforcements arrived."

"From what Mother has told me, that sounds exactly like Father."

"Father? Huh, so I was right. You are an Arc."

"You don't seem surprised."

"Only an Arc would be crazy enough to stand up to someone like Fue."

"I'm also a Vanille, love. My mother is also fearless."

"Mm, well, I can't help but be jealous. You're the child of two heroes."

"Heroes," Anita asked with a smile and a raised eyebrow. "I can understand calling Father a hero, but Mother?"

"Your mother did help defeat Salem, remember? She's every bit of a hero as the others. You're pretty heroic yourself. You distracted Fue to make sure Esmeralda could save me, right? Seems I owe you my life."

Anita's smile never went away, but it did wane. She then got up and walked away.

"Was it something I said?"

"She doesn't see herself as a hero, despite her own actions," Esmeralda explained.

"Humble." Phoebus hissed. "Why is it that every time we meet, I always end up bleeding?"

Esmeralda bit the string to cut it. "You're lucky. That bullet almost pierced your heart."

Phoebus grabbed Esmeralda's hand and placed it on his chest. "I'm not so sure it didn't."

Esmeralda and Phoebus stared at each other, not knowing Ténèbres was watching. Then, in front of the boy, they kissed, breaking his heart.

Behind a wooden pillar, Anita was also watching them, leaning against the wood with her arms crossed. She then looked down with a sigh before reaching for her lips. She then looked up towards the starry sky. 'Is this what you did to Father, Mother,' she asked in thought.

Anita stared at the sky before she heard something. She looked over the balcony, her eyes widening. "Emmy!"

Esmeralda and Ténèbres jumped up before running to her side. They all looked over the side.

Ténèbres gasped. "Fue's coming! You must leave," he said as he ran, leading the three. "Quick! Follow me! Go down the south tower steps!"

As Anita and the Faunus ran out, Esmeralda stopped and grabbed Ténèbres's hand. "Be careful, my friend. Promise you won't let anything happen to him."

"I promise."

"Thank you." She then joined her friends and ran away.

Ténèbres then got nervous when he heard Fue coming.

"Quickly! Hide him," Nevermore said.

Ténèbres dragged Phoeubus and hastily hid him under the table. He quickly put everything back in order just as Fue appeared. "Oh! Master. I didn't think you'd be coming."

"I'm never too busy to share a meal with you, dear boy. I brought a little... treat," Fue said as he sat down. He then cleared his throat when Ténèbres wasn't moving.

Realizing his mistake, Ténèbres rushed to get the plates, accidentally breaking one of his bowls. The sight made Fue smile, thinking his suspicions were spot on.

"Is there something troubling you, Ténèbres?"

"Oh, no!"

"Oh, but there is." Fue then ate some of the grapes he brought. "I know there is," he said as a grape fell.

Ténèbres nervously picked the grape up, trying not to reveal Phoebus's location under the table.

"I think you're hiding something."

"Oh, no, Master. There's nothing-"

"You're not eating, boy."

Ténèbres stuffed his mouth full of grapes. "It's very good. Thank you." Phoebus then moaned awake, forcing Ténèbres to moan in contentment. When Phoebus groaned as he woke up, Ténèbres knocked him out with a kick. He then coughed. "Seeds."

Fue raised an eyebrow. "What's different in here?"

"Nothing, sir." Ténèbres then looked to see his carvings of Esmeralda and Anita.

Fue noticed them, too, picking them up. "Aren't these two new? They're awfully good. This one looks very much like that Faunus girl, while this one looks like that thief, though far more gallant than necessary. She almost looks... heroic. How silly, dear boy. That girl is no hero. You should know that thieves aren't heroes, just as I know you helped them ESCAPE," he yelled as he slammed Esmeralda's carving onto the table, making Ténèbres fall to the ground. "And now Minuit is burning because of you!"

"They were kind to me, Master."

"YOU IDIOT," he yelled as he destroyed Ténèbres's model of Minuit. "THAT WASN'T KINDNESS, IT WAS CUNNING! ONE'S A FAUNUS! ONE IS A THIEF! THOSE BEASTS AND BARBARIANS ARE NOT CAPABLE OF REAL LOVE! THINK, BOY! THINK OF YOUR MOTHER!"

Fue then regained his composure as he cleared his throat. "But what chance could a poor misshapen child like you have against a Faunus's heathen treachery or the brilliance of a Master Thief?" Fue then took out a dagger and stabbed both carvings. "Well, never you mind, Ténèbres. "They'll both be out of our lives soon enough," he said as he burned the carvings. "The thief has quite the bounty on her head. The lien obtained from justice will serve to repair our fair city. The Faunus will no longer have a hold over you either. I will free you from their spell," he said as he flicked his dagger, sending the burning carvings falling to the ground. "They will torment you no longer."

Ténèbres watched them burn before looking at Fue. "What do you mean?"

"I know where their hideout is, and tomorrow at dawn, I'll attack with a thousand men. Not even that thief will be able to handle such a force. The Legacy of Vanille will end with the Court of Miracles," he said before walking down the stairs with a smirk.

Ténèbres was in despair as he heard the door shut, worried for his friends.

He looked back when he heard Phoebus groan. "We have to find the Court of Miracles. Before daybreak. If Fue gets there first... I know how skilled Anita is. We both know how resourceful Esmeralda is, but those two don't stand a chance against nearly every guard in Minuit. Are you coming with me?"

Ténèbres looked down in defeat. "I can't."

"I thought you were their friend!"

"Fue's my Master. I can't disobey him again."

"They both stood up for you! You have a funny way of showing gratitude." Phoebus stared at Ténèbres's back, looking disappointed. "Well, I'm not going to sit by and watch Fue massacre innocent people. I was trained to be a Huntsman before becoming a soldier. We live to save and protect the innocent. That's what HE would have done."

"He?"

"The Vale Knight. Jaune Arc. The World's Strongest Man. The Greatest Huntsman in the World. . . And Anita's Father." Ténèbres's eyes widened. "If that man were to appear before you, can you look at him without shame, knowing you could have saved his daughter but did nothing?" Ténèbres's head lowered. Phoebus sighed in frustration before walking away. "You do what you think is right."

Ténèbres continued to look down until he turned to look at his friends, all three looking judgemental. "What? What am I supposed to do? Go out there and rescue the girls from the jaws of death and the whole town will cheer like I'm some kind of a hero?! Like I'm Anita?! She's the hero here, not me! She can protect Esmeralda! And if she's not enough, Esmeralda has her knight in shining armor and it's not me!"

Ténèbres then took a deep breath. "Fue was right. Fue was right about everything. I'm tired of trying to be something that I'm not." He then looked at his palm and traced it where Esmeralda traced it. He then looked at his wrist where Anita's Hero Line was found... and saw a line. Still, he thought nothing of it and sighed as he looked down.

He then saw the smoldering remains of his carvings. He took out the necklace Esmeralda gave him, looking it over. He then felt a tap on his shoulder and looked to see Nevermore smiling as she handed him a cloak. Ténèbres stared at it for a bit. "I must be out of my mind," he said as he ran off to try and save his friends.

Phoebus quietly opened the door.

"Phoebus," Ténèbres whispered as he popped up from above the door, surprising the ex-soldier. "I'm coming with you," he said as he landed in front of the man.

"Glad you changed your mind."

"I'm not doing it for you. I'm doing it for them."

"You know where they are?"

"No, but Esmeralda said this would help us find her."

"Good, good, good. Aw, great. What is it," he asked as he stared at the necklace.

"I'm not sure."

"Hm. Must be some sort of code. Menagerian? No, Menagerie doesn't have codes. . . I think. Maybe it's Mistrilian. Mistral is where the Branwen Tribe is."

"When you wear this woven band you hold the city in your hand."

"What?"

"It's the city!"

"What are you talking about?"

"It's a map! See? Here's the cathedral, and the river, and this little-"

"I've never seen a map that looks like this."

"I've lived up on the bell tower for over sixteen years!"

The two argued for a bit before ending with "This is/not it!" They both took a deep breath.

"Alright! Okay. This is Remnant. There are stranger things than necklace maps in the world. Now if we're going to find Esmeralda and Anita we're going to have to work together. Truce," he asked as he patted Ténèbres's back.

"Well, okay," Ténèbres answered as he slammed his hand on Phoebus's back, making the man hiss out in pain, especially since it aggravated his bad shoulder. "Sorry."

"No, you're not."

The two then walked carefully to the graveyard, trying not to be spotted. They then found the crypt.

"This looks like the symbol on the map," Phoebus said.

"But what does it mean?"

"Mm, not sure," he said as he took the torch. "I can make out an inscription, but it could take a few minutes to translate it." Ténèbres then moved the cover. "Or we could just go down those stairs."

The two then did so, making a mistake Anita would never do, leaving the entrance uncovered.

"Is this the Court of Miracles?"

"Off-hand, I'd say it's the Court of Ankle-Deep Sewage. Must be the old catacombs." They looked around to see the skulls, skeletons, and bones littering the area. "Cheery place. Kinda makes you want to get out more often, eh, Tenny?"

"Not me. I just want to warn the girls and get back to the bell tower before getting into any more trouble."

"Speaking of trouble, we should have run into some by now."

"What do you mean?"

"You know, like a guard or a booby trap..." His torch then went out. "Or an ambush."

Torches held by roaring Faunus were ignited as they jumped down and surrounded the two. A bull and a snake held their arms behind their backs before pushing the two to their knees.

Clopin then walked out of the shadows. "Well, well, well. What have we here?"

"Trespassssssers," a Cobra Faunus went as he took off his mask.

"Spies," a Bat Faunus said as he took off his mask, letting his ears shoot up freely.

"We're not spies," Phoebus began.

"You have to listen to u-" Ténèbres was interrupted when the two were gagged.

"Don't interrupt me," Clopin went. "You're very clever to have found our hideaway. Unfortunately, you won't live to tell the tale," Clopin said as he lit two candlesticks.

"Maybe you've heard of a terrible place where the scoundrels of Minuit hide in a lair. Maybe you've heard of that mythical place called the Court of Miracles. Hello, you're there!"

"Where the lame can walk."

"And the blind can see."

"But the dead don't talk! So you won't be around to reveal what you've found! We have a method for spies and intruders rather like hornets protecting their hive! Here in the Court of Miracles where it's a miracle if you get out alive!" Clopin laughed loudly, getting the attention of every Faunus in the underground lair.

"Gather round, everyone! There's good 'noose' tonight! It's a double-header! A couple of Fue's spies!"

The Faunus and homeless booed and jeered.

"And not just any spies! His captain of the guard and his loyal, bellowing henchman!"

"Clopin, stop!"

"Huh?" He looked to see Anita jump onto the podium.

"Clopin, these aren't spies, they're our friends."

"Why didn't they say so," Clopin asked as Anita ungagged them right as Esmeralda flew down after hearing Anita's yell.

"We did say so," the men said in unison as Anita and Esmeralda untied them.

"This is the soldier who saved the miller's family and Ténèbres helped me and Anita escape the cathedral when she was too weakened to save us herself."

"Did you have to add that last part, Emmy?"

"We came to warn you," Phoebus yelled. "Fue's coming! He says he knows where you're hiding and he's attacking at dawn with a thousand men he promises not even Anita can handle!"

"Me?"

"He knows how much of a threat you are alone, Anni. Wait, what if he knows who your father is?!"

"No. If he did, he would have been spreading the word to all of Remnant that the Vale Knight has a thief for a daughter. What's more, he probably would have probably sent even more men. Fue is terrified of my father. You read the journal, too, Emmy." Anita then looked down in thought. "But how did he figure out where the Court was," she muttered.

"It doesn't matter, Anni. We must waste no time. We must leave immediately."

The Faunus and the homeless then began to scramble, packing up their belongings and valuables.

"You took a terrible risk coming here," Esmeralda said to Phoebus. "We may not exactly show, but we're grateful," she said as she hugged Phoebus.

Phoebus smiled before looking back at Ténèbres. "Don't thank me. Thank Ténèbres," he said as he pushed the Faunus before the raven beauty. "Without his help, I would never have found my way here."

"Nor would I!"

Everyone looked to see the soldiers pouring in. Anita didn't hesitate to start shooting, taking out many of the incoming soldiers.

The Faunus and the homeless tried to escape, hoping Anita would distract them, but the exits were blocked by guards.

"EMMY, TAKE TENNY AND PHOEBUS OUT OF HERE!"

"BUT WHAT ABOUT-"

"GO, DAMMIT!"

"Throw it," Fue ordered.

A guard then threw a sonic grenade, the shrill weapon disorienting Anita and the others.

Anita stumbled before she felt someone roughly grab her. She didn't hesitate to knee the guard in the gut before throwing him to the ground. Though her vision was blurred from the grenade, she was still able to swing her staff, feeling the clang of helmets. However, a missed swing made her stumble, giving a guard the opportunity he needed to smack her with the butt of his rifle.

As Anita stumbled, another guard tackled her to the ground, guards piling onto her before holding her up.

"GET OFF OF ME! GET OFF," she struggled.

"QUIET," a guard yelled as he tried to punch her.

Anita moved her head back in time and bit down on the man's arm, making him scream before she threw him into another guard with the strength of her mouth alone. She then showed off more of her awesome strength by actually standing with at least five grown men on her, but a guard prodded her with a stun baton that made her fall to her knees.

"This girl's a monster!"

"How can someone so small be so strong?!"

"Are we sure she isn't a Faunus!?"

"Quite sure." Anita looked up with a glare towards the approaching Fue. "Anita 'The Nanny' Vanille. The infamous daughter of the Master Thief, The Neopolitan."

"It's just Neopolitan, you old goat. Her friends call her Neo, but someone else gets to call her by her real name," she said with a smirk.

Fue backhanded her. "Enough of your insolence, girl. Why don't you drop that ridiculous disguise?"

"Don't like what you see," Anita asked with a smirk.

"No. I do not," he said as he grabbed the baton from the guard. He then all but stabbed the baton into Anita's shoulder, making the beauty scream in pain as he shocked her.

"ANNI! GET AWAY FROM HER, YOU BASTARD," Esmeralda screamed as she wanted desperately to save her friend, only for a guard to shoot at her wing, doing enough damage to make her Aura sparkle.

When Fue removed the baton, Anita was panting in agony. Then, her Aura shattered.

The guards gasped.

"She's not a Goat Faunus?"

"Goat Faunus? I thought she was a Mule Faunus."

"I saw an old hag."

"How old? She looked about thirty to me."

"I thought you were struggling to hold down an eighty-year-old woman."

"Eighty? She looked like she was in her twenties to me."

"You said she looked ugly? She looked just plain to me."

"I thought she was kinda sexy."

"Hot for me."

Anita then looked up.

"By the gods."

"She's beautiful."

"She-She's a kid!"

"We've been getting our asses kicked by a fifteen-year-old girl?!"

Fue looked down at Anita coldly. "As I thought. You're as beautiful as your mother. A shame you're every bit as vile as she."

"Don't you fucking DARE insult her in front of me."

Fue slapped her again. "Such a filthy tongue. Your beauty is wasted on one such as you," he said as he turned his back on her.

He then looked around the court. "After twenty years of searching, the Court of Miracles is mine at last." He then walked over to Ténèbres, placing a hand on his head.

"Dear Ténèbres, I always knew you would someday be of use to me."

"No."

"What are you talking about," Esmeralda growled as she was being cuffed.

"He used Tenny," Anita said. "Followed him as Tenny used your necklace. Of course, a man like Fue would need someone smarter than HIM to find the Court!"

Fue snapped his fingers. A guard then punched Anita in the gut, making her cough up saliva.

"DAMN YOU," Esmeralda yelled at the guard.

"And look what else I've caught in my net. Captain Phoebus, back from the dead. Another miracle, no doubt."

"The only miracle would be if you survived the next few days, Fue! If I don't get my hands on you, you'd better pray HE never does!"

"He," Fue asked with a raised eyebrow.

"ANITA'S FATHER! You have no idea how powerful he is, but you'll find out!"

"This again. Idle threats do not frighten me. I don't care who that girl's pathetic father is. I will crush him like I crushed this Court."

"Don't." Fue looked back at Anita, the guards shocked that she was still able to move. "Insult," she continued as she glared at Fue, making him feel something he hadn't felt in years. "My father."

Fue backed up, knowing full well what he was feeling.

Fear.
