Pokémon Trainer Hero
Chapter 12: Gar's crazy Weekend
Friday
After some more idle chit-chat about less worrying issues facing the class, Recovery Girl eventually booted out all the teens and Mimikyu from the infirmary and school grounds after two hours of hanging out. After everyone had left, Recovery Girl told, or rather, forced Gar to eat something before taking any more painkillers. Gar initially refused, saying he wasn't hungry. But Recovery Girl said it was just from his extended rest messing with his body's natural chemistry, and she didn't want to put him on another IV nutrient drip. So eventually, he complies, and Recovery Girl brings him a large plate of food.
Gar didn't realize it, but he was really hungry! So hungry, he downed at least four plates before the nurse finally cut him off, gave him his medicine, and told him to rest. Once he took his meds, Gar had no complaints with resting. He fell right to sleep the moment his head touched the pillow, and from there on, he slept the rest of the day into Saturday.
Saturday
Gar woke up bright and early the next morning with a heavy groggy feeling in his whole body. After he was more aware and awake, he slid out of bed and walked to the nearest bathroom, followed by Rotom, who stayed the night with him. After he relieved himself for almost three minutes, he washed his hands, face, and hair. By this time, Recovery Girl had just walked through the door and saw him standing in the bathroom, looking at his less than stellar appearance. Gar turned around after hearing the elderly ladies chuckle. He briefly wondered what was funny until he realized what he was wearing.
A hospital gown and nothing else, and since he was bending over the sink, she saw... everything. Gar quickly covered his bare bottom in sheer embarrassment and turned red as a Blaziken! The nurse waved it off and said it's a common mistake everyone makes and that she's a professional, so she's seen that sort of stuff before. This only made Gar blush even harder, and Rotom laughed.
After the embarrassment had subsided, Gar was given another round of healing by Recovery Girl, a little breakfast (compliments of Lunch Rush), some more painkillers, and a change of clothes which was the ones he came to this world with(minus the hoodie). The nurse gave him a clean bill of health with his needed medicine and sent him off.
Gar stretched his tired limbs after he left the room and headed out through the silent school hallway. The only sound reverting off the walls were his footsteps and Rotom's electromagnetism keeping him aloft. The first thing Gar would do was pay a visit to the Support Department. He hoped they would help him with grabbing more Pokeballs from his dimension in the hopes of getting a Beast Ball. Sure, breaking the grounds of the time-space continuum seemed like a bit of a stretch for their...expertise. But if Gar manager to pull it off with sheer dumb luck, then certainly the tech geeks could do something? Or at least get it to where it doesn't harm Rotom and turn him into a spaz. He arrives at the large metal doors and is about to open them when suddenly.
BOOM!
The doors come flying off their hinges, Gar and Rotom get knocked back with great force, and something lands on Gar's body! After the smoke drops and Gar chokes out his last cough, he looks up to see a figure on top of him, silhouetted by the smoke.
The figure laughs, almost insanely, as they say in a young female voice, "Well, that wasn't supposed to happen. But it did anyway, and now I can figure out what went wrong."
After a moment, pink dreadlocks emerged with a pale face and yellow eyes with headgear. It was a girl no older than anyone in his class. And she was suggestively lying on Gar's chest. Gar tried to look farther up at the girl but was met with the sight of her unusual bust size. She was only wearing a black tank top, and her breasts were pressed against his chest, right in his line of sight, so he couldn't see them.
Gar immediately looked away in awkward embarrassment and tried to glance over to Rotom for help. Unfortunately, the phone was no more helpful, as he said with a mischievous smile, "I'm gonna take a picture."
"No, the Distortion World, you are not!" Gar exclaimed while grabbing the phone by its camera!
The girl finally noticed who she was lying on and said, "Oh, when did you get here?"
Gar tried to pull his eyes to her forehead, so as not to look suspicious and replied, "Uh...like a minute ago. Now please get off me."
Suddenly another person came running through the open doorway from the smoke-filled room. He was bare-chested with work pants and boots with two clawed gauntlets and yellow headgear that looked like a cross between the front end of a machine and an animal, with long orange hair sticking out. "Hatsume! What were you thinking?! You nearly blew the whole lab and us to smithereens with your 'invention'!" he snapped at her!
Gar recognized this man as a Power Loader, and seeing no other way around this mess of a first meeting; he gave the hero a polite greeting. "Hey, Hikari."
The man looked down and saw the older teen pinned under the girl and said while pulling the girl off him, "Oh, hello Garfield."
After Gar let go of Rotom, who was still laughing and brushing himself off, he asked the hero while motioning to the smoky room, "So what happened in there?"
He pointed a finger down at the girl next to him and replied in an exhausted tone, "She did."
The girl rubbed her head with a smile that didn't say she was sorry or embarrassed but proud.
"By the way, if I'm not mistaken, you called her Hatsume, correct? As in Mei Hatsume. The one you've mentioned a lot.", he asked while keeping some parts vague, as Power Loader usually complains a lot about the girl.
"Yep, this is the one.", he said with an exhausted tone.
"That's me, alright! Mei Hatsume at your service! Aspiring to become the next greatest hero tech inventor!" Mei introduced herself full of self-pride!
Gar chuckled and side-mouthed to Rotom, "Wow. She reminds me of you, Rotom.", Rotom gave a disapproving beeping noise. "My name is Garfield, but call me Gar; everyone does. I'm sure you've seen 'that' video?" Gar introduced himself.
She nodded her head and answered, "Sure have. It was cool and all, but not as cool as my babies!"
Well, at least she's not one of those people who would be climbing all over him for attention just because of his Pokémon.
Power Loader gave a loud cough and butted in, saying, "So what brings you to this neck of the woods, Garfield?"
"Oh, well, you see, I was wondering if you guys could-." Gar began to explain until Mei cut him off.
"OH MY GOD! Is that phone alive?!" she practically yelled while getting right into Rotom's face!
"Uh yes, this is Rotom. He's a-." Gar tried to explain until he was cut off again.
"I've never seen anything like it! It's such a cool baby you made!" She exclaimed with sparkles in her yellow eyes while getting uncomfortably close!
"I'm not a baby! Buzzt.", Rotom stated!
"And I didn't make him. He was a gift-." Gar tried to explain until he was cut off again.
"Can I see him?" Mei asked.
"I'd rather you didn't-." Gar tried to deny the request until Mei simply snatched the phone right out of the air!
Before any of them could blink, Mei was back in the lab quick as a whip! There was a slight scream from Rotom and the sound of something being restrained! Gar and Power Loader ran inside after their minds clicked back in and saw Mei standing over a table with Rotom held down by leather restraints while she held a screwdriver and a drill in each hand. All while adorning an excited yet crazy-looking smile that made her look like a mad scientist!
"Hey! What are you doing!?" Gar demanded in shock!
"I'm just gonna quickly disassemble and then reassemble to see what makes your baby work. It's no biggie." Mei waved it off while letting out a small yet crazy-sounding giggle and slowly brought the screwdriver down!
"WHAAAAAAAT! Buzzt. No, no, no! I'm not a baby, and I don't consent to this! Buzzt.", Rotom protested!
But his plea fell on deaf ears as the screwdriver was already nearing one of his cover screws! Rotom screamed in panic, zipped right out of the phone, and then charged up an Electro Ball that he was right at the girl! Mei's body illuminated like a light bulb, and she screamed from the excess power channeling through her body! After the electricity subsided, Mei promptly fell to the ground with swirls in her eyes.
"Rotom!" Gar shouted at the Pokemon after everyone was done gawking!
The Pokemon returned to the phone and exclaimed, "What!? She was gonna dissect me! Buzzt."
"You're a ghost type! Even if she did, she wouldn't find anything other than the phone!" Gar shot back!
"Oh yeah. Buzzt.", Rotom replied.
Gar sighed and looked between the fainted girl and the teacher, unsure of what to say after this.
But he eventually spat out nervously, "Uhhhhhhh...sorry about that."
Power Loader sighed and replied, "It's fine. Accidents happen. And Hatsume did overstep her boundaries. She'll take this as a learning experience."
Gar tried to break the ice on the awkward cake further and asked, "So...is she as smart as you say? Cause I'm not convinced. And what's with the weird baby obsession?"
While scooping the girl up and placing her on a nearby bench, the man replied, "Oh, she is, and more so. Sure she's completely unorthodox in her methods, but she gets the best results I've ever seen. Hardworking, vigilant, and always thinking creatively. I just wish she was a bit more careful and didn't jump into everything head first without planning. She really will be one of the best inventors in this age of the hero world." Gar didn't look convinced by this. He knew people like this back in his world, and they ended up causing more trouble. "As for the baby thing, that's just Mei talk for 'inventions.' So whaddya need?" he quickly said the last part, to which Gar simply hummed in gratification.
Seeing no other way to ask this, Gar decided to just go for the kill and asked, "Well, I'm sure you know how I came to this world with only six Pokemon, right?"
"This marks back to that fight at the USJ, right? Where you somehow pulled more than 30 other Pokemon out of thin air, right? I have been wondering that.", Power Loader asked while checking on Mei's vitals.
"It wasn't 30, but that's not the point. You see, I managed to do that by connecting my Pokebox and this Beast Ball with Rotom.", he explained while holding up his Pokebox, Rotom floating at his head.
"I thought you couldn't use that thing? And what's a Beast Ball?" Power Loader asked while applying burn cream to the girl's wounds.
"Normally, yes, I couldn't. And a Beast Ball is this.", he explained while holding up a Pokeball with two tones of blue and a white spider web design with two yellow lines at the top. Power Loader put out his hand to examine it, and Gar gave the ball to him as he explained its capabilities further. "It's a specialized Pokeball from my world that allows someone to catch these special Pokémon called Ultra Beasts. Normal Pokeballs can't catch them, so we use them.", Power Loader looked at him funny when he mentioned 'Ultra Beasts.' Seeing this, Gar sighed and explained further. "An Ultra Beast, essentially, are alien Pokémon from other dimensions. This Beast Ball can configure the dimension they're in and the Ultra Beasts Internal Dimensional Gyroscope, or IDG for short, and allows capture to be successful."
Power Loader whistled and stated, "That's pretty wild! I thought the whole 'convert matter to energy' thing was impressive, but this is even crazier! I don't think I've ever seen technology this advanced before!"
Gar just smiled and shrugged at his comment, unsure of how to respond. Power Loader opened the ball and peered inside. He asked, "So you took the objects that are configured with other dimensions, attached it to the thing from your world, and added a creature from your world to link both in the hopes of reaching a breathing point between the two?"
"That's pretty on the nose." Gar nodded.
"How did you manage to pull it off the first time?" he asked in impressed bafflement.
Gar shrugged and awkwardly laughed, saying, "Honestly, it was just by my special brand of determination and dumb luck. It was just a last-ditch effort out of pure desperation. I didn't even think it'd work."
After another silent exchange between the two, Power Loader looked at Gar and asked with seriousness in his tone, "Do you think we'll be able to pull it off?"
Gar looked back with a confused expression as he asked, "Can't you? Or at least make it far less stressful on Rotom. I'd rather not kill him from the process. He may not go loopy the next time around. Kinda thought you could; almost any scientist from my world could."
"Buzzt. It felt like I had a stomach virus and a migraine at the same time. And I don't even have the organs to get those things! Buzzt.", Rotom said with deep dread in his voice.
Power Loader sighed, and putting the ball down, he said back, "Look, Garfield, I appreciate that you think so highly of my skills. But I'm an engineer, not a quantum physicist."
"Can you at least try? What's the worst that could happen? Are you breaking my Pokebox? Oh well, then I'll just have to wait for rescue. I managed to wing it by essentially spit and prayer to Arceus." Gar resorted with a bit of plea in his voice.
"You're okay with this?" Power Loader asked with some caution in his voice.
"If it means increasing my chances of leaving this world, then yes, I am. There's no reward without the risk involved." Gar gave him the okay.
Power Loader sighed while fiddling with his hair, saying, "On that, you and Hatsune would agree.", He then looked at her, still lying motionless on the bench, and asked, "Speaking of her. Is she gonna be okay?"
"Rotom isn't that good of a fighter so that Electro Ball was weaker than the usual kind. So I'd say….yeah, after a bit of rest. Did ya need her?" he answered back.
"As I said before, she's a natural genius. She'd be the most helpful to you. So we gotta wake her up...somehow?" Power Loader said while rubbing his chin.
The two of them stood by the teen girl's side, trying to think of ways to wake her up, with Power Loader being the first one to go hands-on.
Then a weird idea crossed Gar's mind, and he exclaimed, "Gee, I was sure hoping Mei could show me all of her BABIES!"
Mei suddenly popped up in her seat, and with excited eyes, she exclaimed, "I am so glad you wanna know! Cause I got lots of them!"
Both teen and adult jumped back from her, suddenly waking up and nearly falling over their own feet from stammering back!
Power Loader looked at Gar and asked, "How did you know that would work?"
"I didn't. I was just testing a theory." Gar shrugged, while Power Loader decided to keep a mental note of that.
"No need to say anything more. I'm on the case!" the girl stated while jumping to her feet with a bright and determined smile!
"But I didn't say-?" Gar tried to speak until he was cut off.
"You didn't need to! I, Mei Hatsume, have a keen sense for things! And I heard your whole conversation while I was half-conscious.", she answered and explained quickly.
'Well, that explains that.', Gar thought to himself.
"Now gimme your things, and I'll work my magic!" she demanded while holding out her hands like a child.
Gar was hesitant at first, but the girl made the decision for him, again, grabbed the Pokebox and Beast Ball, and then shot into the workshop where she began to move like lightning! Gar was simultaneously impressed and scared as he watched her work with tools and spare parts flying everywhere and nearly hitting Gars a few times.
Suddenly Power Loader grabbed his shoulders and walked him over to a covered area; he said, "We should probably get behind the blast shield."
"That's a good idea.", Gar agreed while picking up the pace as Rotom followed close behind. The two stood behind the opaque shield as they watched the blur of Mei running back and forth in a fury! Gar was very nervous already, thinking that this girl could break his Pokebox beyond repair, and then he'd be stuck, or she'd be as careless as possible and rip a hole in the fabric of the universe and kill everyone. And he didn't like either option.
"I'm gonna need to borrow this.", Mei said, ducking behind the shield and grabbing Rotom.
"Rotom!" Gar shouted!
"Help me! Buzzt.", Rotom cried in fear!
In a moment, the phone was thrown back to Gar before he could charge after the girl. However, the phone did not have Rotom's signature smile or orange coloration. He looked at the regular phone with a mixture of disbelief and shock and said in a small voice, "She got Rotom out of the phone?", he then exploded at Power Loader, screaming, "She got Rotom out of the phone! How did she do that!?"
As I said, she's unorthodox.", Power Loader answered with a mixture of shock and exacerbation.
"Done!" Mei called while stepping in front of the shield and wiping sweat off her head.
The two looked at each other, then back at Mei with confused expressions.
"Wow, that was quick.", Gar asked, confused.
"And nothing exploded?" Power Loader asked, equally confused and happy.
Mei made an expression like it was obvious and stated, "Well, sure, it was easy. You got everything in place. You just didn't connect it properly."
The two men blinked at the girl to make sure they were still seeing and hearing this correctly. Then Power Loader turned to Gar and asked, "You think Rotom can hit her with another Electro Ball? I wanna see if she'll gain even more common sense."
Gar made a rapid motion with his head and hands across his throat as he answered, "Too many electric attacks are not good for anyone, no matter what the results are."
Power Loader didn't like the response but accepted it anyway. As much as he wanted Mei to be smarter and more careful, he didn't want to fry the girl for good.
Gar then walked over and examined the new attachments and blinky things added to the Pokebox and Beast Ball. He looked to Mei after his short examination and asked her, "Sooooooooo how's this work? What's with all the new do-dads?"
Mei wiped more sweat off her face with a rag and explained, "To make a long story short, I used some much tougher and more conductive wires to connect your bee ball or whatever, from your Pokeblock." Gar wanted to correct her on her pronunciations, but the girl went off on a tandem. "That disk your ball is sitting on is a wireless charger I augmented slightly, so you don't have to take apart another.", she explained while pointing to the new Beast Ball she took from him, sitting or rather levitating on a small glowing disk-like device connected to the Pokebox with the Pokeball glowing a strange hue.
"So that's where my charger went!", Power Loader shouted at the girl!
Ignoring him, she fished off, saying, "And finally I connect the whole thing to an external power source, that being the school." Gar looked at one of the new wires plugged into his device and saw it was indeed connected to one of the school's outlets. "Reason being that the process of interdimensional interfacing caused it to suck up a whole bunch of electricity. So it used Rotom like a power source, which is why he went all 'loopy' as you put it.", she explained.
"That sounds great and all, but I don't think plugging it into the school will help much.", Gar said seriously as Mei looked at him, confused. "This is interdimensional blinking here. We're taking data and bringing it across the space-time continuum to be processed into the matter. I'm no expert, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's gonna need more power. So it's gonna suck Rotom anyway. He is living electricity.", he exclaimed with his hands all animated. "Speaking of which, how are you holding up?" he went off topic slightly and asked the Pokemon possessing the Pokebox, void of its usual smile.
Rotom said nothing for a minute and then buzzed out in fear, "Buzzt. I'm scared. I'm very, very scared...Of her."
Gar moved his eyes towards the girl with a nervous chitter running through his body as she stated, "That's great! Use that as motivation for the test run."
"Test run!? I thought you said you were finished!?" Gar exclaimed in surprise while she moved over to some kind of external control panel connected to the Pokebox.
She waved her hand at the notion and said, "Finished with the beta design silly. Now we test it and see what happens.", she then put on her goggles and floated her finger over on the button. She shouted excitedly, "The first test in 3-2-1-start!"
"No, wait!" Gar tried to stop her!
But it was too late as the girl pressed the button and a bright light emanated all around the room! Everyone covered their eyes and waited for the light to die down. When it did, Gar turned his head to Rotom only to see the small Pokemon still possessing the machine and not glitching in and out, or screaming, or buzzing like an electrical storm. Rotom was fine. Even the Pokemon was confused by this as he too looked around with the two men to make sure he was still working and nothing off was happening.
"Nothing happened?" Gar committed.
"Of course, something happened. It's stabilized, just as I theorized.", Mei answered giddily.
"Are you sure she's not mental?" Gar side mouthed to Power Loader, who shrugged in reply. Gar approached Rotom, and bending down; he asked, "Hey Rotom, you sure look...better than the first time. How are you holding up?"
Rotom gave himself another once over and answered, "Actually. Buzzt. I feel fine. could juice this thing up more. Buzzt."
Gar looked surprised by his response, and in a cheery voice, he said, "Well then juice her up, buddy!"
Rotom complied and revved up his electrical powers, putting even more power into the machine and causing light to illuminate from the machine and Pokeball. Gar pressed some buttons on the panel, and just before hitting the 'Withdraw' button, he said, "I hope this doesn't explode!"
Power Loader grabbed Mei and protected her with his back as Gar pressed the button.
A strange and otherworldly buzzing came from the machine, along with another strange light that filled the room! A moment later, the light died down, and Gar uncovered his face to find the Pokebox filled with several new Pokeballs! Gar tilted his head to the side and said, confused and a bit disappointed, "Huh, there's a lot fewer Pokeballs than last time. Only 10, and none of them are Beast Balls."
"Guess the excess power didn't help much?" Power Loader put forth.
Before anyone else could say another theory, a small electronic groan was heard from behind the Pokebox. Gar looked behind the machine and saw Rotom, now out of the machine and lying on the table with swirls in his eyes.
"Oh Binnacle, Rotom!" Gar shouted while scooping the small Pokemon into his phone, where it repossessed it. "You okay?" the teen asked nervously.
After a few more electronic groans from the Pokemon, he eventually answers, "Buzzt. I think I over-exerted myself there. Can we not do that again. Buzzt."
Mei pulled herself away from Power Loader, and with a thumbs up and a bright smile, she stated, "A successful test run! And we learned so much! I'll make more modifications, take readings, and then we can test again."
Gar then carefully cradled Rotom in his hands and, in a serious, no room for discussion, tone replied, "Or maybe you do all that, and we'll try again in a week. I don't wanna push Rotom."
"Sounds good to me!" Mei complied and was visibly unaware of his tone. The pink-haired girl then grabbed the Pokebox and Beast Ball and ran off to a different part of the workshop with a huge smile on her face!
Gar sighed and turned to the teacher and said, "Thanks for the help Hikari."
The orange-haired man chuckled and replied, "No problem, I think we've honestly made the scientific and engineering breakthrough of the century. Do you need anything else?"
Gar tapped his chin with his finger and answered, "Now that you mention it, I do. I was hoping you could make some kind of a storage or vault to keep my Pokemon in their Pokeballs. I'm going to be adding more. It's one thing to keep track of 6, but 30 plus is something else. And if one went missing, well…", he trailed off, not wanting to give the more horrible details.
To which Power Loader waved him to stop and said back, "I'll get it, say no more. I'll have my class construct one on Monday." Just then, a huge explosion went off from another part of the workshop! Power Loader tackled Gar to the ground and shielded him with his body until the shaking had subsided! The one part of the workshop that Mei ran off to. Power Loader sighed with slight aggravation and followed up his previous statement, saying, "Without Mei involved."
"Appreciate it." Gar thanked him.
After Gar left the insanity of the Support Department, his second task was to visit his injured Pokemon. UA had constructed three buildings, on Gar's request, in the hopes of hiding Gar's Pokemon from the school and the public view during school hours for exercise. Since the secret was out, the buildings were used more of a barn to keep the Pokemon as they recovered. The three buildings were made up into three core environments; a regular-looking barn full of soft hay for holding any land-based Pokemon, a sizable deep swimming pool for water-based pokemon, and an aviary with high ceilings and large perch for holding flying Pokemon.
Gar moseyed on to the buildings, situated at the back of UA's property, and knowing how his Pokemon would react to seeing him again: decided to get the most challenging and painful one out of the way first. The main barn had two sets of doors, one big for larger Pokemon and one smaller for people. Gar went to the smaller door and slowly opened it up, and he was relieved the door didn't squeak and peeked his head in. He was even more relieved to find all his Pokemon sound asleep. All his Pokemon were bandaged up in recovery. Maybe he wouldn't have to deal with a stampede again.
So he slipped in and looked around at his sleeping Pokemon and their peaceful, dreaming faces. Gar immediately noticed that the only Pokemon still awake were Mimikyu, Treveant, and Aegislash since ghost types don't need sleep. The Ghost-type Pokemon saw Gar standing in the small doorway and happily, yet silently, approached him. Mimikyu jumped into Gar's arms while Treveant wrapped its arms around Gar's leg in a hug, and Aegislash nuzzled against his leg with one ribbon arm wrapped around his knee.
He petted the Pokemon with a soft chuckle and quietly said, "I missed you too, guys, but let's keep quiet. I just wanted to check up on everyone. I don't wanna wake up the others."
Just then, something fell from the rafters and onto Gar's head with a flop! Gar almost squeaked in fear, but he knew who it was upon hearing the giggling and feeling the soft fur. He picked the thing off his head, and put it in his line of sight; he saw the glittering hexagonal eyes of Sableye.
Gar chuckled and said softly, "You silly little Pokemon. Always pulling pranks, you nasty little devil. And always the night owl." Sableye clicked its teeth excitedly as Gar put the pint-sized Pokemon on his shoulder while saying, "Let's go, you guys. I still wanna check on everyone else."
Just as they were about to leave the silent room, one of the Pokemon stirred awake from the sunlight pouring in to the barn and stood up with a wide yawn. Gar heard the yawn and immediately froze in place! He turned his head slowly and saw the two-tailed monkey Pokemon, Ambipom, stand up and rub the sleep from its eye since the other was covered in bandages. Gar saw as the Pokémon's vision activated in the different light intensities, and a look of excitement sprawled across its face at seeing Gar! Gar tried to silence the boisterous monkey with a silent yet sharp shush before it could make noise, but it was far too late!
The Pokémon began to jump up and down while screaming loud monkey noises that quickly woke up the other residents! The other Pokémon all came to, and one-by-one their eyes fell on Gar standing in the doorway.
Gar gave a nervous laugh while saying, "Hey guys, you look good. Hahaha." Before he could even blink, the Pokémon charged right at him with the happiness expressions he'd ever seen before! Gar felt the familiar cold feeling of dread he got in situations like this. The feeling that this wasn't going to end well for him! So as quickly as he could, he dashed out the door without looking back, while still having Sableye on his shoulder and Mimikyu in his arms, and ran as fast as his legs could carry him!
"Binacles Binacles Binacles Binacles!", He cursed as he ran!
Suddenly the huge doors of the barn burst open, and out came the stampede of Pokemon! Gar tried to run faster, but his legs couldn't run anymore! He tried to reason with his frantically excited Pokémon, telling them to take it one at a time or at least stop chasing him! But to no avail.
Eventually, the Pokémon managed to catch up to the teen and tackled him to the ground in a huge dog-pile! Gar yelped in distress and, seeing no way of escaping now, hoped they would at least be somewhat gentle with his healing body.
They weren't.
All the Pokemon tried to surround the small teen, small to them, and began to lick, bite, hug, or snuggle the teen all over! Gar gasped and coughed, trying to work through the crushing love embrace and pain.
"I missed you too, guys, but can you please get off me? I'm still recovering!" Gar pleaded.
After a few minutes, the Pokemon finally released their grip and bodies off him, allowing the poor teen to breathe. Gar then went around and petted or scratched each of the Pokemon affectionately.
"Come on, you crazy Pokemon, let's go see the others, and then we can start the day.", he said to the group of creatures while walking off to the next barn.
Gar approached the barn, opened a small door, told his other Pokemon to wait outside, then stepped inside. Now, usually, you'd think this one had to be the easiest since the only water type he had was Gyarados, but that was also the problem. It was Gyarados! The moment Gar's Pokemon saw him enter the water building, he immediately came out of the glass structure being forced through on the face of Gyarados! Gyarados stopped charging forward when his whole body was completely out of the building, and he held Gar on the ground by his face while snuggling the older teen who was groaning and moaning in pain!
"I'm...glad you're okay too….buddy.", Gar squeaked out.
After getting Gyarados off him and brushing off any glass particles from his clothes, he moved to the last house to check up on his Pokemon. And knowing the pattern already, that and the fact they cause so much noise, he knew the aviary would burst open from the front, and all his flying types would be trying to get affection from him as they flew around the moment he walked in.
He sighed and once again told his Pokemon to wait outside, but seeing from a third-person view of what exactly went down on poor Gar when he did walk in; the Pokemon didn't look like they wanted to listen, knowing he was just going to get hurt by their excitement.
Like the last two times, the moment he walked into the tall dome, all his bird Pokemon burst through the building with Gar at the front in the talons of several of his Pokemon! The Pokemon flew up into the air, practically fighting over who got to show their affection to him first. And poor Gar looked like a helpless limp animal being fought over eating rights! The bird Pokemon flew higher and higher, still trying to pull at the teen with their sharp beaks and talons, as each of them screeched and peaked at each other!
This would have continued unless for Ampharos and Gyarados, who both used Thunder to ward off the now violent bird Pokemon! Unfortunately, this also caused the older teen to be dropped by the Pokemon and plummet to the ground! Gar screamed on his descent as the bird Pokemon rushed to catch him before SPLAT! Luckily Machamp was at the right place and caught the falling teen with its huge arms!
Gar looked completely frazzled and stuck in horrified shock as Machamp gently placed the teen on his feet. The teen kept himself steady on wobbly legs with support from the Pokemon, and in a shaky voice, he said, "Thanks...Machamp."
He then looked over to his bird Pokemon, now on the ground, with a displeased expression on his face. The bird Pokemon looked down quietly as they knew they had taken it too far. Even the other Pokemon scowled at them.
Gar sighed in exasperation and said to the birds, "I understand you guys are excited to see me, but you don't have to kill each other just to get my attention and show your affection and excitement to see me again. If Machamp hadn't been right under me, I would've had to be hospitalized again. And you don't want that, do you?" The bird Pokemon solemnly shook their heads. Gar turned to the other Pokemon behind him and said, "And that also goes for all of you too. I'm not as tough as you guys, and I'm still not at 100%. I get that you all are excited to see me again after I was gone for so long, but please try to be patient and more gentle next time."
All the Pokemon looked down with a guilty expression, but Gar couldn't bring himself to stay mad at them, and forgiving them quickly, he said, "Oh, I can't stay mad at you guys. I guess, if I were you, I'd forget my strength at just how overjoyed I was. Oh, alright, bring it in, you crazy Pokemon!"
All the Pokemon then gently surrounded Gar in a huge group cuddle and stayed like that for several minutes, with Gar going around and individually petting each Pokemon and allowing them to show their affection. Until Gar pushed them away for breathing room and to get down to business, afterward, he told his Pokemon to group together for an announcement. The Pokemon obeyed and stood in front of Gar, like a flock of children at a teacher's feet, patiently waiting for his speech.
"I'm hoping Mimikyu and the others gave you guys the rundown on our situation?" Gar asked the pokemon, who all answered with their unique cries. Gar sighed in relief and said, "That's good, saves me an explanation. So for now, this world will be our temporary home until we can get back or help arrives."
The Pokemon didn't seem thrilled at this. Knowing that their home was across space and time and seemingly unable to reach. They all looked solemnly at this news. Even Gar could feel the melancholy emanating from them.
But Gar quickly silenced any of those thoughts when he said, "But don't worry, I've got a plan in place. It still needs some testing, so it'll take time. Just not as much as we need without it." All the Pokemon cheered with glee and shouted out their cries all around. Gar hummed happily at this sight and hoped that he could get a Beast Ball soon, and one with Lunala or Nebby in the process. He then brushed himself off, and feeling the ten new Pokeballs around his belt, he remembered what he initially wanted to do with his Pokemon.
He turned to his cheering Pokemon and said, "Oh, before I forget.", all the Pokemon stopped and stared at the older teen. "My little plan has borne fruits for my labor. And now I have someone to heal you guys up right now."
Gar then took one of the standard Pokeballs off his belt and threw it into the air. It popped open, and a beam of light manifested into a new strange shape. The shape became matter and revealed itself to be a new Pokemon. It was at waist height with Gar and possessed a pink and cream color scheme, and it stood on two legs with three fingers and two toes hooves and big blue oval eyes. The top of its head, back, and arms are pink, while the lower half of its face, body, ears are cream-colored, as well as it's front and fingers. The patterning of pink and cream on its chest resembles a jacket. It has a puffy, white tuft for a tail and big floppy ears with thin, curled extensions on the underside resembling earrings or a chameleon tail when curled up.
Gar looked at the new Pokemon and commanded it, "Alright, Audino, use Heal Bell."
Audino took a deep breath in and then exhaled with a sound that was similar to a bell. The sound took the form of a visible pink ring that rang across the whole area, covering the pokemon and trainer. The Pokemon felt soothed by the sound and glowed with a pink hue as they all sighed in relief. Even Gar felt himself melting away in the experience. Soon the bell stopped ringing, the visible ring disappeared, and the pink hue disappeared around the pokemon.
"Alright, you guys, your injuries should be all healed up. Now I'll just take off your wrappings and-" Gar began to say until his Pokemon started to tear and pull away at their bandages, wrappings, binders, and casts in a frenzy of newfound energy! "HEY HEY HEY! Don't do that! I'll help you guys get them off! Just stop doing that!" Gar tried to plead with the pokemon for safety, though none of them listened to him and continued to remove their medical coverings.
Gar sighed and opened his shirt by the collar to look down at his wound. As Recovery Girl said, he had a nasty-looking scar, though the pain had completely subsided. Whether due to the painkillers working through his system or Audino's Heal Bell was up for debate. Speaking of Audino, the same Pokemon walked up to him and was insistently trying to lift his shirt to check on his wound since it could sense his distress for his scar.
Gar smiled at the Pokemon and rubbed the soft fur on its head. He said, "It's okay, Audino, I'm fine. I don't think your healing powers are enough to fix a scar-like mine. But I appreciate the thought." Audino sighed sadly, clearly not happy with the answer, and Gar gave the Pokemon another pat on the head.
Gar turned back to the rest of his Pokemon and stated, "But enough about the sad stuff! I'm sure you guys are starving after such a long recovery. How about some food?"
All the Pokemon cheered with their cries! Gar laughed and calmed them down; he stated, "Alright, alright. Let's grab some grub, you hungry monsters."
All the Pokemon followed behind the teen as he went to another part of UA, disappeared into the building, then came out with a trolley filled with several food bowls and over a dozen huge bags of specialized PokeChow! UA had taken the liberty of analyzing the special food Gar usually feeds that he brought with him to his Pokemon and managed to mass-produce it. However, they had to mass-produce it even more with over a dozen new Pokemon added! Thanks to the nutrition facts on the cans, and Gar had berries to make the food, making the PokeChow was much easier. UA also managed to formulate the right kind of food for any Pokemon type, build a greenhouse to grow the berries needed in the recipe, so everyone got a balanced and healthy meal.
Gar was very thankful for this as if certain Pokemon were not given the proper nutrition or didn't eat enough; they tried to eat each other out of necessity. There was more than enough for all of his Pokemon to eat, and thank Arceus too since they were all extremely ravenous. Gar had to have several Pokemon who listened to him better, to hold back to others waiting their turn.
Gar set out all the special-sized bowls for each Pokemon, then went one by one, giving them the required amount and the bag for their type. After almost 20 minutes, all the Pokémon's bowls were full, and each one was waiting patiently for their grub, to which Gar finally let them all eat. Immediately, all the Pokemon dug in ravenously to their food, stuffing their faces so much they looked like a Skwovet.
Some Pokemon mashed their faces into the bowl, some used their hands or other appendages to shovel the food in, some used their mind power to float the food into their mouths, others inhaled the food without chewing, some filled their mouths and then chewed for several minutes, and some were more finicky as they took each pellet one by one. Then there are the weirder appetites, like Sableye, who ate gemstones, courtesy of Momo. Treveant, who absorbed fertilizer due to not having a stomach. Aegislash, who didn't eat at all being a literal sword. And Snorlax, who had to eat several bags of food out of needing to eat several hundred pounds of food.
Gar knew he really shouldn't, but he did end up double feeding his Pokemon since he knew how hungry they were after waking up. To which all the creatures were immensely thankful. Afterward, all the Pokemon sat or laid on the ground next to their food bowls with full bellies. Gar piled up the bowls, tossed the mountain bags of chow, and returned the trolley cart to the building. When he came back out, he saw all his Pokemon with content smiling faces, lazily lying about. Knowing his Pokemon would be filled with energy needing to be released, he decided to make a new call.
"Glad to see you all happy and full, so how about we work off some pent-up steam with a little fun?" he asked the creatures, to which they all cheered with glee! "Then let's play!"
Gar and all his Pokemon spent the next three hours running and playing around the UA property! Having a game of Hide-n-Seek, tag, and chase! Gar, of course, lost in every game, but his Pokemon sure we're happy, and so was he. Eventually, it turned into a game of Pokemon racing leap Froakie. Gar raced with all his Pokemon, but this time he had to jump between each Pokémon's back to get ahead, and each Pokemon he managed to jump on had to run as fast as they could to the front. However, there was no start or finish line, just nonstop running.
Gar innately started riding on Snorlax, then immediately jumped to Serperior. Rhydon surfed the heads of Falinks, moved to Typhlosion, jumped Haxorus, climbed up Steelix, grabbed hold of Braviary, landed on Staraptor, and finally plunged himself onto Articuno! Now Gar was at the front of the stampede. He lifted his arms in the air, craned his head back, felt the wind rush over his face and body, and exhaled euphoria. He opened his eyes, looking down and all-around at the area around him, and motioned for the legendary bird to fly up; he let out a cry of joy!
"WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I'LL NEVER GET TIRED OF THIS!" he shouts as the bird screeches while ascending into the sky! While all his Pokemon follow behind.
After an exciting time of play, Gar finally excluded himself from any more activities due to being completely exhausted. And instead, he laid down on one of the artificial grassy hills and watched his Pokemon run about and play with each other. The only Pokemon by him were Trevante, Aegislash, and Houndoom. All of which stood around or napped by his feet or sides. Gar sighed contently at this sight and, feeling flooding his body, a sense of pure bliss. As if everything in the world, even for a moment, felt right.
It felt like just how his glory days of being a first-time trainer were, complete freedom, no restrictions, the world at his fingertips, a sense of peace and bliss with his happy Pokemon happily by his side. At this moment, Gar felt like he was back at home, and he loved it.
However, this blissful fantasy was cut short when he heard a voice call out to him. "Hey. Hey! Gar-san! Over here!", Called the voice.
Gar shook himself back to reality and looked over in the direction of the voice. His eyes adjusted to the light behind the person and saw none other than Izuku Midoriya running towards him. Gar was shocked at the young green teen's presence and stood up to meet him, alongside the Pokémon with him. Izuku finally made it to Gar, entirely out of breath, and after talking a few deep gulps of air, he smiled up at him brightly. A smile that Far could only associate with All Might's signature smile. If Gar didn't know any better, he'd say the two of them were related somehow.
"Izuku? What are you doing here? In fact, why are you here? Shouldn't you be at your house? I thought students weren't allowed on school property during the weekends, especially during this time.", Gar asked.
Izuku gave out a few more heavy breaths before replying half baited, "Haha. Yeah, probably, but I showed the guards my I.D., and they just let me in. But I just really wanted to check up on you, see how you're doing. Ya know."
"And you know I have a phone, right?" Gar asked back teasingly.
Izuku laughed back nervously. "I also just got the feeling that if I didn't see you again today...I wouldn't be able to again.", Izuku scratched his cheek, embarrassed.
Gar gave a small scoff mixed with a chuckle as he said, "Don't be silly, Izuku. I'm not gonna disappear anytime soon. Not without telling you." Gar ruffles his messy green hair that Izuku tried to swat away like a cat. "Now why are you here?", He asked in a more serious tone.
Izuku laughed dryly as he answered, "Nothing gets by you, does it? Well, to see, I was curious."
Gar raised an eyebrow at this.
"I was hoping that, um…", Izuku trailed off, leaving Gar a bit annoyed and anxious. Izuku then surprised Gar by going into a bow and exclaimed, "P-Please teach me all you know!", This shocked and confused Gar as Izuku continued, "Tell me everything about Pokémon! Gar-sensei!"
At first, Gar was so stunned that he couldn't process thoughts or words. He just stood there with his mouth gaped in awe. But then his body and mind finally responded with tons of dopamine fluffing his brain and body with adrenaline! Gar held up his hands to his face while making a high pitched excited squealing sound! His eyes went wide with sparkles and made a smile so big it hurt to look at! He shook himself back and forth in excitement as Izuku looked up, very confused and concerned at Gar's reaction.
Gar then clapped his hands together and stated, "I'd love to!" Izuku smiled back excitedly until Gar suddenly dropped the ultra exciting phase and said sternly, "But don't call me Sensei! It makes me sound old."
"R-Right. S-Sorry.", Izuku apologizes meekly.
Gar's attitude changed again as he said excitedly, "It's fine. It's just….I've dreamed of this moment my whole life!"
"Eh?!", Izuku questioned in confusion at seeing Gar's reaction.
Gar plopped down on the grass in Indian style and motioned for Izuku to do the same as he stated, "Okay, take a seat, Izuku, cause this is gonna take a while."
Izuku sat on the grass across from Gar as Houndoom decided to sit his canine butt on Izuku's lap, much to the simultaneous pleasure and discomfort of Izuku.
Gar cracked his finger and tapped a few things on Rotom before showing the screen to him. "Now, the first things to know about Pokemon are Type advantages and disadvantages."
The older teen then went off for the next four hours and explained a good chunk of what he knew about Pokemon. Their types, what they meant, why they were strong or weak to something, battling strategies and formats, what Pokemon work best with others, breeding, IV and EV, and Nature breeding. He even explained facts on different Pokemon from several regions and explained every Pokémon's regional forms.
Now, not many people would know this straight off the bat, but Garfield is a very, very, very lonely person. After years of traveling between several different regions all by himself, it left him feeling empty and longing for company. Sure he had the very rare companion, but it never lasted long, so all he had left were his Pokemon. And they could only do so much to fill the void where he needed human interaction. Gar also had taken on all gym leaders of every region, every elite four members, and became champion all by himself. Such a title like that led to him being isolated to keep his title. He even took down several evil organizations with little or no help from outside sources. He even caught legendary Pokemon all by himself.
Such a claim to fame led to Gar begging not only being highly respected by others but also highly feared. Many people thought of him as an unearthly, all-powerful pseudo demigod with the power of his world's god right at his fingertips! And Iron strength grip, will, and fist to boot! Uncaring and unforgiving to his enemies or challengers, and completely unable to please or impress when or if you decided to learn from him!
However, that couldn't be farther from the truth. Gar was properly one of the most down-to-earth and chill people around. Sure he was an intense battler, but who wasn't or isn't in his world? He loved having fun and being around people, exploring and discovering new things with someone at his side. He even started his Pokemon journey at age ten, just so he could find his 'missing' father and bring him back home to his mother. But nowadays, he couldn't; he was alone.
This is why he acted like a cross between a giddy anime schoolgirl and Izuku fanboying over a hero when said boy asked to learn about Pokemon from him. He always wanted to share and spread his knowledge to the younger generation or anyone in general. But no one ever dared to do so.
"And that's why Flareon is one of the very few Pokemon in Kanto that can learn Solar Beam." Gar wrapped up as he finally felt just how dry and sore his throat was from talking. He took out a bottle of energy drink and chugged the whole thing down in two gulps.
Izuku was diligently writing in his notebook while using Houndoom's huge sleeping body as a hard surface. "Wow, that's so cool! I've never learned so much from anyone. I can't believe how much you know.", Izuku praised the teen.
Gar rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment as he said back, "Well, I'm not a master trainer for nothing. There's still so much I wanna teach you about, but we'd be here till the end of next week if I did."
"You sound like you know everything about Pokemon.", Izuku commented while finishing up his last note.
Gar tried to wave off the notion humbly, but his face and body language said otherwise. "What? Psh. No, I don't know everything! I know a lot due to working with so many and collecting data on each one. But not everything. I'm no researcher or scientist. Even in my world, Pokemon is still a mystery to us, even after so many generations of studying them. They're just as mysterious as when the first recorded human historians started to study and train them. And there's still so much more to learn and find out! And that's what I wanna do, find out all I can about Pokemon!" he exclaimed while raising his fist into the air.
"That sounds like a great goal, Gar. I think you can achieve it.", Izuku said, entirely genuine.
Gar blushed happily at his compliment and replied, "Hope you get to be one of the greatest heroes of your generation."
"Thanks, that means a lot to me.", Izuku thanked him with a happy blush.
"It means a lot that you wanna learn from me.", Gar said back happily.
The two of them then played back on the grass side by side as Houndoom decided to post his body between them, with his head on Izuku and butt near Gar. After a brief silence between them, Gar gave a soft chuckle and spoke up, saying, "Ya know, the more I learn about you, Izuku Midoriya, the more you remind me of myself when I was younger. Tell me, are you a cry baby?", Izuku looked at Gar with wide eyes but then immediately turned away trying to cover his embarrassed face with tears already starting to sprout up at the teasing. Gar chuckled and reached over to ruffle his messy hair; he said, "There's no shame in it. I was one too. But after so long on so many hard journeys, it toughened me up for the more dangerous roads ahead. And I see the same happening to you."
Izuku peeked back at him with tears still collecting in his eyes but still managed to force a smile.
The two teens lay on the grass, looking up at the sky and enjoying the blissful quiet of the day with the soft sounds of nature and the other Pokemon still playing in the background. However, their peacefulness was cut short by the sound of a female voice asking them, "Hope I'm not interrupting your little date, boys?"
Izuku immediately shot up from his spot while waving his arms frantically and sputtering out, "Wh-Wh-What? D-D-D-Date! No, no, no, no, no! We're not on a date!"
Gar laughed hard at Izuku's reaction and said, "Calm down, Izuku, she's just joking.", realizing what he said, he followed up, saying, "Wait, she?" Gar looked behind him and saw none other than the R-Rated Hero: Midnight standing behind them in her hero outfit. Gar greeted the woman saying, "Oh hey Nurime, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at home or on patrol right now?"
Midnight fiddled with her long hair as she answered, "Normally yes, I would. But I come as a bearer of bad news for you."
"Well, lay it on me. No use in drawing it out.", Gar told her bluntly.
She gave a stressed sigh and explained, "It's the government's big wigs. They wanna have a meeting about you, with you, tomorrow."
Gar sucked in air between his teeth as he stated, "Oooooooooh! They sure work fast, don't they?"
"They wanted a meeting the day after the attack after that video went viral, but due to your hospitalization, they pushed it to whenever you fully recovered. And now they want a meeting ASAP.", she stated in a serious tone.
Gar bit down on the tip of his finger at her word, and even his stress was starting to set off Houndoom, who was trying to nudge his face into Gar's shoulder.
"I guess my instincts were right about seeing you today.", Izuku said in a solemn tone as he got to his feet with a sad movement.
Gar immediately jumped up and tried to dissuade his thought. He stated as carefully as he could muster, "No, no no! Don't be silly, Izuku. I'm just gonna have a sit-down and a chat with the big boys at the top, and we'll talk things through like proper human beings. I promise.", Izuku didn't look face and still stayed at a neutrally sad expression. Gar tried to wrap this up on a high note and said, "Now why don't you go and enjoy the rest of the weekend while you have it, and I'll see you tomorrow. Okay?" Gar gave him a bright smile that only slightly brought up Izuku's spirits.
Izuku nodded at this, and while walking away, he called out, "Okay. See you later, Gar and Midnight Sensei!" Midnight and Gar stood there waving farewell to the green-haired teen till he was well out of sight.
Once gone, Gar turned to Midnight with a serious tone and asked, "Okay, now real talk, how deep are we in the Shitonic?"
"Very deep." Gar forcefully sucked in more air at this statement, and Midnight continued, "Which is why I'm here." Gar looked at the woman, confused as to what she could do. "We're going to get you gussied up and appropriately look for the meeting and get you ready for how you're going to respond to their questions. I've got Best Jeans in UA ready to fit you for tomorrow.", she motioned towards the school.
Gar let out a stressed breath and followed the woman into the building, being tailed by Houndoom, Aegislash, and Treveant. After a few long moments of silence between them, Gar piped up and asked, "Be real with me, Nurime, what are our chances looking like of getting out of this...unscathed?"
Midnight took a moment to respond, but when she did, she nearly switched the pitch as she replied, "Low."
"I was dreading you'd say that.", Gar said in a stressed tone, as he was starting to turn a new shade of pale.
