Chapter 20: Confrontation

The end of the day came much slower than Gar wanted. So slow that he didn't even pay attention in class all day! The only thing he wanted to do was go crawl his butt back to the dorm, jump into bed, and die!

Well he could only do the first two things….but you get the picture, he wasn't happy.

So he walked back to the dorm in head splitting silence, rubbing his templates, and taking a hunched over posture with a face as friendly as Voltorb. The last thing he wanted was to stop or even talk to someone over a whisper, otherwise he might rip their heads off.

However, fate was not on his side today, or really any day that didn't involve world ending catastrophes, and the two things he didn't want to do the most, he was forced to do. All thanks to one loud, brash, ash blonde that made his head do back flips from each word he spoke over his decibel limit.

"Oi, Purple Fucker.", Bakugou called out his name in a normal tone, but was still loud enough to make Gar's head start swimming.

Gar groaned out in pain while rubbing his head, and without turning to the teen he complained, "Not now Katskui. My head is pounding like a Cubone is constantly whooping it. So I'm really not in the mood for your daily bitch attitude."

Just as he was about to walk away, he heard Bakugou speak up, which despite his better judgment made him stop.

"I wanna talk about what you said before.", He said in a normal tone.

Gar growled impatiently and aggravatedly, and without turning his head to the teen he stated firmly, "Katskui, I've said a lot of things recently. So you're going to have to narrow it down for me or stop playing 20 questions."

Bakugou gave off an aggravated sigh as he replied aggressively, "What you said back in the meeting with the bigwigs. All of it…..I don't agree with a single word of it."

Gar didn't speak a word in response, and instead turned his head to stare silently at him, in the hopes of weirding him out to eventually leave. But the ash blonde didn't budge as he stood firm in his statement, waiting for a response.

Eventually Gar conceited defeat and finally replied saying, "That's great. See ya."

"Hey wait a minute!", Bakugou barked as he grabbed Gar and swung him around to his face! "Aren't you gonna fight back? Argue with me? Prove me wrong!", Bakugou shouted at full volume!

Gar squeezed his ears at the shrill sound reverberating in his alcohol filled head! Once the ringing stopped, he took a deep breath and very calmly replied, "Katsuki, if you wanna continue living your life in an ill conceded lie brought on by the unrealistic standard of modern society and the bubble you crafted around yourself about the world and how it should work, then who am I to stop you? I can't make you believe anything. Only you can. But the more you deny the truth, the harder it will be to accept it."

Gar peeled his hands off his body and began to walk off while rubbing his head. However, he stopped when he heard Bakugou mumble loud enough to hear.

"Well….well….", the ash blond babbled, and despite his better judgment, Gar stood behind to see what he would do. Suddenly the younger teen exploded, metaphorically, and ranted off, "You're wrong! Wrong Wrong Wrong! I don't know how your shitty world operates, but here only the strong survive!"

"Then you must be on the verge of extinction.", Gar scoffed at him.

"What!?", Bakugou screamed at him after his brain did a skip to his comment.

Gar rubbed his temples to alleviate the pain and in the most calm tone he could force, he stated, "Katskui look, I know people like you. I've met tons of you, and let me tell ya right now, you're all the same.", this made Bakugou go from anger to confusion in an instant, Knowing he had Bakugou's attention, Gar continued on, "You have this preconceived notion of how and when the world operates, and by some logic it revolves around you. You think that this world and everyone in it is required to give you something to succeed in it. Whether you crafted this thought process yourself or from others around you, I don't know. You think that you're somehow a shining example of what's right or what's perfect or what's needed in your hero based society. But that's where you're not, you're everything that's wrong with it."

Gar then started to walk up to Bakugou, and the younger teen actually started to take a few steps back, until he halted in place and tried his best to stand firm as the taller teen loomed over him like a tower! Gar looked down at Bakugou, sweating nervously and trying to keep his brave facade, and continued on saying, "So let me tell you something I'm sure no one else has before.", this peaked Bakugou's interest as he listened closely to him and his serious expression. "Katsuki Bakugou.", Gar drawled out for suspense, making the teen a little more nervous. "You are not special.", Bakugou's jaw immediately dropped at hearing these words! As if this really was the first time they were being said to him! "You never were, and you never will. The moment you step outside this little bubble of hero school and childhood, you're gonna realize far too late that the world doesn't give a crap about you. You may see yourself as a perfect example or maybe people have told you that in the past, but once the world sees who you are, who Bakugou Katsuki really is, they're not gonna give you anything you desire. In fact, they'll take it away. Stripe you down and leave you with nothing. You may think you're strong now, but once one of the things you think to be true is out of your grasp, you'll see just how weak you really are.", Gar finished up his rant while narrowing his eyes dangerously.

Bakugou bit down on his lower lip, and stammered out, "Well. Well. Well!"

"Well, what?", Gar cut him off impatiently.

"At least I still have my loved ones with me!", he blurted out in a yell, causing Gar's ears to ring!

After the pain subsided from his head again, Gar took another breath to steady himself and say as calmly as he could muster, "Okay first off, Psyduck you. That was a low blow, even for your pitifully low standards. And second, what loved ones do you have? Who possibly loves you? Friends? Family? In the short time I've known you, I already know that no one likes or even loves you."

"I-I have friends!", Bakugou shot back.

Gar raised an inquisitive eyebrow at him and asked, "Then tell me who they are? Cause last I checked, you hate being near just about anyone, talking, working, or even existing with someone else. So who is it? I'm genuinely curious who can honestly tolerate you, and you even remotely consider a friend."

"I-I…..Their-.", Bakugou mumbled out while looking down for answers.

Gar shook his head disappointedly, and started to say, "Just as I said, no one truly loves-."

"Fuck You! Plenty of people love me!", Bakugou immediately retaliated back in a yell!

"That's where you're wrong again.", Gar spoke in a calm yet pain filled voice. "You see your confusing love with admiration. People dont love you, they admire you. And like all admirers you'll eventually be forgotten for the next best thing to ogle at.", he poked Bakugou's forehead to drive the point.

At this point, Baougou was completely unable to speak. His hands were sweating, his mouth was dry, and his mind was spinning with so many questions and conflicting feelings! He didn't know what to do, or say, or even how to act! He only knew he was showing weakness, and he hated that! He had to think of something to say before Gar took advantage of it!

But Gar, as usual, was quicker than him, and followed up saying, "What? Nothing to say? No Retaliation, no Screeching, no Curse, not even Thrash or Swagger or Counter? Just Growl and Leer."

This was what Bakugou needed to snap out of his halted trance. He whipped to Gar, pointed his finger to him in a sign of declaration, and shouted in exclamation,"I'll be the greatest hero there ever was! Just watch me! People are gonna love and never forget me!"

"The only thing you're gonna be is the greatest failure.", this made Bakugou drop his guard, and he stood their arm slacked, face numb, and voice silent as Gar stepped closer to him. "Trust me Katsuki, I don't need to see the future to know your gonna make a change….and not a good one.", Bakugou walked away from the older teens approach until he was back against a wall, staring up at his cold and serious yellow eyes that radiated a force so powerful it made Bakugou quake in his own shoes! "You're gonna go out there one day and you're gonna be the driving force or heavily involved in an event that'll change the structure of this world for good. And once the dust settles, the world is gonna look directly at you and think only one thing.", Gar told him while bending his head to his ear and silently saying, "It's your fault, you're to blame, you're a monster."

Bakugou retaliated by sending off a false explosion on Gar, making the older teen jup away from him! Bakugou stood their breath heavy, eyes dilated, and posture slumped and tense! He gave a hard growl at the older teen, who hadn't lost the condescending look in his eyes, and yelled, "SHUT UP!"

Gar scoffed at his demand and shot back, "Why? Because living a white lie and thinking your fine is better than facing the grim truth and knowing what is wrong so you can better yourself as a person? Cause I completely disagree."

Bakugou said nothing as the older teen continued with his rant. Feeling his tongue grow heavy in his own mouth.

"You might think you're perfectly ingrained into society's structure and mold, but you couldn't be any farther from it. Your own personal thoughts will simply make you an outcast even more, cause that's what it does not like. Individuality. And yours is far from what is expected of you.", he stated while narrowing his eyes darkly at him, making the teen shrink into himself.

"Got anything else to add?", he asked as the tension softened out of his eyes.

Though even with Gar starting to return to his normal self he still couldn't bring himself to say a word.

Gar then raised an eyebrow and said, "Nothing? Great, then I'll be going. I have a date with a bottle of Advil to down like tic tacs. So see you when reality hits."

The tall teen then turned on his heels and power walked away while grabbing at his pounding head. Leaving Bakugou to stand with his back to the wall and contemplating everything he just heard. The ash blond felt himself lose control of his legs and slide down to the ground. He sat on the cold tile floor breath heavy and face gasped with shock and stress. Which eventually bubbled out to the surface and caused them to mix in an uncontrollable way that made Bakugou do the one thing he hasn't in years.

Cry.

He sat there with his knees tucked into his chest and arms wrapped around them as he tried his best to suppress the sobs that dared to escape from his throat. Small tracks of tears fell down his face as he coughed to suppress the sound of his own weeping. And he hated this. Being forced against a wall with no room to fight back, being put down, being told he was wrong, being weak. He hated it, every last bit of it! He was strong and he knew it! He didn't care what Gar had to say! He would prove him wrong just like he proved all the others who thought he couldn't. He'd make Gar eat his own words if it was the last thing he'd do. And he'd never show weakness to anyone again.
