Pokémon Trainer Hero
Chapter 27: An Act of War
The next day had come and eventually gone like it alway had before. Aizawa had wrapped up the lesson and left for the teachers lounge just as the bell rings for scholl's end. Everyone finally got up from their seats and meandered around, talking, or prepared to leave. All except for Todoroki, who had been staring intensely at Izuku and Gar, both of which had been blissfully discussing Pokemon and heroes.
However, they quickly realized they were being watched by the mere feeling alone. They both looked at the teen glaring at them in perpetual silence, and shivered under his hard cold eyes. Izuku tried to be friendly and offered a smile and hand wave, but it was met with more cold intensity. Izuku shrunk away like a frightened dog.
"What is he doing? Why is he doing it!?", Gar asked Izuku in a small voice.
Izuku shrugged.
"Is he glaring at me or you?", He asked while looking back and forth.
Izuku shrugged harder.
Just then, Todoroki got up from his seat and started to make his way towards Izuku and Gar, all without breathing eye contact at them.
"Oh Arceus, he's coming this way!", Gar panicked!
"Calm down! Just act natural.", Izuku told him.
At that moment, Gar shot up from his seat so fast that his desk and chair fell to the floor with a loud enough crash to get everyone's attention! Gar then whipped out a pokeball and threw it right at Todoroki!
"OW!", He hissed as the ball wacked against his forehead and fell harmlessly to the ground!
"Gar!", Izuku shouted at Gar, after a momentary pause of disbelief!
"What? You said act natural.", Gar argued back.
"I didn't mean you throw a pokeball at his head!", Izuku reiterated firmly.
"But that is natural! For me anyway.", Gar explained nonchalantly.
Izuku looked back to Todoroki, who was rubbing the forming lump on his forehead, and approached him cautiously and nervously.
"I-I'm sorry about t-that T-Todoroki-kun. Gar-.", Izuku stammered out while offering to offer a hand in helping him recover, but Todoroki slapped his hands away forcefully and roughly!
This causes Izuku to double back and shield himself with Gars body! Gar looked at the glaring teen with his own hard glare, puffing out his chest, turning up his nose, and placed his hands on his hips like a disappointed mother.
"You know, expecting an apology is one thing, but there's no need to get handsy.", he stated to him in a firm yet condescending tone.
"You already know the Sports Festival is coming up in two weeks.", the icey teen suddenly blabbered out while looking past Gar and towards Izuku.
"Yes?", Izuku replied with severe confusion plastered on his face.
"During it-", Todoroki began while keeping eyes glued to the green teen. "I want to fight you head on. One on one. Looking at things objectively, I think I'm stronger than you.", he proclaimed in a bold yet band manner.
"Huh?", Izuku gawked.
"But...All Might has his eyes on you, doesn't he?", he asked, making izuku tense up and force down a quite dry gulp. "But Im gonna beat you.", he proclaimed again.
As this tense scene was unfolding with Todoki looking boldly and coldly at Izuku, while Izuku looked back with determined nervousness. Gar cut the wholeatomsaphere by saying with a head scratch, "Maybe Rotom was right. I really gotta stop reading fanfiction. I'm seeing this whole exchange as an act of love, not war."
"And as for you.", Todoroki suddenly shot his arm out, pointing at Gar.
Gar looked around confused and then pointed to himself just to be sure.
But Todoroki made it clear who he is talking to, as he marched up to Gar and then exclaimed in a dry tone, "I'm gonna show and prove I'm stronger than you and that fire bird of yours and beat it into the dirt. And I'll do it with only my ice. It won't haunt me with my fire anymore."
"Wha-?", Gar managed to walk out until Izuku interrupted him.
"Todoroki-kun, I don't know what you mean by 'you'll beat me', but of course you're better than me. I think you're more capable than most people. I can't afford to fall back.", he said while looking down at himself for a moment, before rising his head up with a fire in his eyes and proclaiming boldly, "So I'll be going for it with everything I've got, too."
Izuku looked determined at the icey teen, who looked back with sheer unmoving cold in his eyes. The whole class looked on with mixed expressions and emotions, while in perpetual Bakugou looked between the three teens and ground his teeth angrily while tightening his hands into fists!
"Yep. I really gotta stop reading fanfiction.", Gar said to himself in a small voice while sweat dropping.
Without another word, Todoroki turned on his heels and walked his way to the door. Though just before he left the room, one of Gars pokeballs popped open on his belt and a blue light flooded the room! The sudden appearance grabbed everyone's attention, even stopping Todoroki! The blue light formed into a pokemon and Ambipolm appeared in the class with his trademark smile. Todoroki grunted at the pokemon and made an attempt to leave. But Ambipom stopped the teen as it raced up and then glomped him in a hug with its hand tails! Ambipolm then rubbed his scar on Todorokies and hugged him firmly while making chattering noises. Everyone sighed in awe of the cuteness and the tension in the room dropped dramatically.
But it wasn't meant to last, as Todoroki forcefully pushed Ambipom off his body with such force that the pokemon flew for a few feet before slamming painfully onto the ground! A collective and silent gasp filled the room along with a steadily growing angry Gar, who looked ready to throw Todoroki out the window! Todoroki looked down at the pokemon and gave a low growl! Ambipolm shot back to its feet and slammed its hands on the ground rapidly, until they turned into fists, as it screamed and shouted like an angry monkey, making the most awful high pitched wailing! But Todoroki was unaffected by the pokemons sudden mood and pitch change and simply clicked his tongue while walking away. After he left, Ambipom immediately stopped when the door closed and looked at the spot with an :0 expression. As if it had never been treated like this before. Then its mood did another 180 as it went absolutely ballistic!
Screaming and yelling like a child as it grabbed chairs, note books, and desks in its hands and threw them around! Before things could escalate any further, Gar whipped out the pokeball and returned the rampaging monkey before he could hurt someone. Things went dead quiet in the room as papers fluttered down from the air and people let go of the breaths they were holding back.
Gar rubbed the back of his neck in an awkward and tired motion as he nervously stated, "Soooooooooooooo should I tell him I'm not actually gonna be participating or does someone else wanna break it to him?"
"What?!", everyone in the room shot their eyes at the older teen!
"Everyone please! Why aren't you participating, Gar-kun?", Iida asked with more professionalism and tact.
Gar shrugged his shoulder in a sweat drop and explained, "Come-on guys, be realistic here. Pokemon are better than humans in every way. No matter what the situation, I'll always have a Pokemon that's bigger, faster, stronger or smarter than any of you put together. I could easily win this thing without even trying, blindfolded with my arms tied behind my back."
Everyone stopped. Thought to themselves. And regarded this.
Until Momo popped up and said what everyone was thinking. "I guess that makes sense."
Changing the atmosphere again, Gar waved his hand and with an anxious smile he explained further, "But don't worry. Me and Nezu have linked minds together to make the Sports Festival a little more...interesting this year. So I will be participating….in a sense."
Everyone stared at the older teen with a mix of excitement and anxiety at his mysterious phrasing. Wonder with anticipation and curiosity for what was in store for them in the coming festival ahead.
As everyone lamented on this, Gar rolled his head, cracking his neck, and asked the class in a serious yet angry tone while glazing down at Ambpolm's pokeball, "Now does anyone care to explain what Shoto was on about? With his whole moody act, his manhandling of Ambipom, his act of war on Izuku and me, and his 'It won't haunt me with my fire anymore' schpeel. The guy is starting to remind me of Katsuki.", Gar saw Bakugou smile from his peripheral view, and pointing a finger at him he stated, "That is not a good thing Katskui!"
Bakugou's smile faded just as quickly as it came, and the teen clicked his tongue while looking away with an angry growl.
Everyone just looked around uncomfortably or shrugged their shoulders with nor verbal response from any of the 19 other working mouths.
"Your guess is good as ours. I don't think any of us are really close enough to Todoroki to understand him. But he was acting kinda out of left field, even for him.", Uraraka admitted while putting a finger to his chin and looking up thoughtfully.
Gar looked at the door that the half-and-half teen disappeared into, longingly and sadly, while asking in his head, 'Shoto Todoroki. What is it that drives you, that makes you tick, that makes you think…..what has happened in your life?'
