Pokémon Trainer Hero
Chapter 33: The Sports Festival part. 5-The Race of a Lifetime act.2
Instead of fighting back, Izuku and Uraraka decided to run for the hills the moment the three pointer did it's initial attack! The two of them ran as fast as their legs could carry them and didn't care if they were going the right or wrong direction! I was right behind them, The three-pointer and several grass type Pokémon were slowly encroaching on them!
Izuku had to think fast right now cuz if he didn't he and Uraraka would be captured immobilized or disqualified if they didn't get away or put his previous plan into fruition. He raked his brain for any knowledge that could possibly help him, until a light bulb went off in his head and he formed a plan fast!
He looked to Uraraka and told her, "When I say now we both separate on opposite sides and then charge directly at the 3-pointer. From there you'll take away it's gravity. Got it!"
Uraraka nods and readies her hands. Izuku nods back and waits until the three-pointer is about to attack. The machine raises its arm up in the air and just at the last second Izuku puts his plan into action!
"Now!", He yells as the machine brings its arm down!
The two teams separate from each other causing the robot to temporarily recalibrate its AI direction! From there the two teens charge simultaneously at the robot and this causes the machine to continue its flinching. Uraraka touches the robot and causes the entire machine to float up in the air, as Izuku turns to the approaching Pokemon and demoralizes them.
"You know, when I thought about getting chased by Pokemon from Gar himself, I kind of expected them to have a little more diversity in their move range. I bet none of you even know Even a mid tier move such as Acid!", He shouted at them!
The Grass types stopped chasing the two and stood in place as they angrily stared at the green teen. Each one held a gaze of frustration and self hurt as they glared hard. Then all of the Grass types began to fill their cheeks with something, and a moment later all of them began to spit out globs of corrosive acid! Izuku dodged out of the way and all the acid hit the three pointer and melted it to scrap and plant material!
Uraraka cheered at Izuku's plan, but had her celebration was cut short as there was still the even angrier pokémon to deal with, and they looked like they were ready to throw another volley of Acid at them! But Izuku had already come up with something, fully expecting this, and told Uraraka to throw the blue pear shaped berries into the he pokémons mouths!
Uraraka quickly grabbed out the berries he described and touched each one with her quirk before throwing each one into the pokémons mouths! The berries flew right in and the pokémon stopped their attack as they began to chew on the soft skinned fruit. Only a moment later did the Grass types make extremely grossed out faces, shiver in place, and immediately turned tail to run through the thicket!
Uraraka was stunned at how this worked, and asked Izuku, "How did you know that would work?"
"Oh! Those were Belue berries. Their super sour.", Izuku told her.
Uraraka was about to marvel at Izuku's intelligence until he asked her, "Could you float the three pointer one last time?"
Uraraka shook herself out of his lucid trance and nodded her head vigorously embarrassed. Izuku smiled and told her to climb on and get a birds eye view. She did just that and made the robot's remains float above the tree line. She looked around for a landmark of some kind and eventually spotted the right direction out, and the epicenter of where the jungle was moving. It was almost like looking at a ripple effect on a pool of water, with the trees moving just like it. From the center, Uraraka could hear the drum sound even more clearly.
Just before she could deactivate her quirk, she felt something nudge her head. She briefly wondered what it could be since she was so high up. Then the panic rushed over and she swung her head around to the thing still nudging her! But instead of a flying robot or some other death trap, it was a red pokémon that looked like a cross of a bird and a plane. It looked young and curious as it rubbed it's head against her.
Then Uraraka heard a familiar voice call out, "Latias! I told you not to interfere! Come back here now!"
The pokémon turned around and joined another pokémon that looked just like it, only this one was blue, older and more serious looking. On its back was none other than Gar with a headset over his hood.
"Well folks, it looks like our young heroes are employing a little strategy here. With Ochako Uraraka sailing above the tree line! But will that be enough to find her way out? Well let's hope.", Gar proclaimed as he gave a friendly wave to her, and she waved back.
Uraraka deactivated her quirk and the machine scrap fell to the jungle floor. Uraraka picked herself up after such a messy landing and pointed to the direction where the drums were playing. This time it was her turn to grab Izuku's hand and pull him through the forest! And luckily she didn't notice it…. except for Izuku, who was now bright red.
After a few minutes of running, following the do me of drums, avoiding Pokemon people and machine alike, the two teens found themselves in the middle of a small dirt clearing where the only thing standing was a very unusual looking pokémon playing on a drum made of wood.
The pokémon was bipedal and resembled a gorilla or other great ape. Its body consists mostly of shades of brown: light, tan brown on its forehead, chest, abs, and extremities; dark brown on its nose and triangular ears, as well as under its eyes; and medium, mud-like brown across the rest of its body, including its thick arms and legs. Its mouth, the tip of its nose, and its irises are orange, and its sclerae are white. Each of its upper arms have tan marks resembling bow-ties or butterflies, and it has two, diamond-shaped, tan marks running down its spine. The first, and larger, of the two marks begins around its shoulder blades, and the second, and smaller, mark begins below its rib cage. It has a thick bush of green, leaf-like hair on its head, which cascades down its back; on its forehead, a single, vine-like hair falls between its eyes and curls at the end, which sits to its nose's left side. On its hips on either side, it has green, belt-like adornments resembling four leaves in a row. Similar adornments (with two leaf-like parts) sit on each of its shoulders near the clavicles; these adornments appear to be part of its hair when not attacking. On each of its wrists it has cuffs that resemble leafy crowns, with the peaks of the crown facing its hands.
It was beating quickly and rhythmically on a drum. This bass drum is crafted from a tree stump, with several thick branch stumps protruding from it, which form both the legs of the bass drum as well as mid and high toms. It also carried two drumsticks in its cuffs and was using them to beat its drum.
"What's that?", Uraraka asked confusedly.
"That Rillaboom! The-!", Izuku began until Uraraka pinched his lips closed.
"Deku-kun, you know I love it when you get all excited and go off on your informational muttering rants.", She said as nicely as she could.
"You do?", He asked, clinging to the first part.
"But we have other priorities right now. So could you just skip to the important part?", She reminded him with a forced smile.
"Oh, uh, right!", Izuku stammers out embarrassed. He clears his throat and quickly says, "This is Rillaboom. And basically it controls plants by playing on it's drum."
"So all we gotta do is get it to stop?", Uraraka asked, to which Izuku tried to answer, but the girl cut him off and followed up saying, "Seems easy enough."
The brunette walks up to the drumming ape and cupping her hands she shouts, "Hey! HEY! GORILLA BOOMS!"
"Rillaboom.", Izuku corrected her from the sidelines.
"Rillaboom! Can you like, stop playing for five minutes?", She asked the ape.
However, the pokémon seemed to ignore the girl as it had its eyes closed and fully encapsulated in it's music. Even going faster and louder with her voice trying to over take the beat!
"Why won't it stop?", Uraraka sighs dejected.
"That's what I was afraid of.", Izuku says with a sigh, gaining the girl's attention again, "Once a Rillaboom gets into the rhythm, it's hard to make it do anything else."
Izuku thought to himself for a moment, then remembered his previous plane, and exclaimed, "Wait! I got it!"
Uraraka continued to stare at him in confusion and nervousness as he went into his pockets and pulled out a green guava shaped berry with two rows of yellow spots that ran vertically. Izuku opened the berry and a very strong and pungent smell wafted into Uraraka's nose.
One quick sniff and the girl covered his face as she exclaimed, "Ew Deku-kun! That thing smells nasty!"
Izuku laughs and says, "That's because it's super Bitter, but don't worry, it's not for you. It's for him."
Izuku then approached Rillaboom and held the berry under its nose. It didn't take long for the pokémon to notice, and coming out of its trance it pockets one of it's drumsticks and grabs the berry from the teen! Rillaboom eats with one hand and continues to play with the other.
Izuku makes a motion for Uraraka, and the girl takes a minute to realize what he meant. Once it clicked, she reached into her own pocket for the same berry and split it open. Uraraka suppresses the urge to gag and hands the berry to the pokémon.
Which pockets his other drumstick and begins to double fist the fruit. Soon after which, all the plants in the jungle turn back to normal still moving trees. Uraraka then turns to Izuku and surprises him with a hug! Izuku flinches up as he internally contemplates whether to hug her back.
Then the girl pulled away, before he could decide, and said, "Have I ever told you how smart you are?"
"No….not really.", Izuku's replied shyly and happlily.
"Well I really should, cause you are."
Izuku feels his face nearly cook from the sheer nerves, embarrassment, and fact that Uraraka was only inches from his face with the nicest smoke on her rosy cheeks.
He gulps and says awkwardly, "We-We should probably go before Rillaboom finises."
Uraraka, upon realizing their proximity, pulls away and stammers out, "R-Right! Let's do that!"
They both stood awkwardly apart from each other, until Izuku heard what sounded like chuckles and looking to the side he saw Rillaboom laughing at them with it's mouth full.
Izuku puffed up his cheeks and stated, "Come on!"
The two teens then took their chance and ran straight through the forest and straight out in only a minute! The two teens doubled over on their knees and took a breather while laughing in relief and high fiving each other. Though their rest was cut short when they heard Gar's voice from above.
"Well everyone! It looks like Izuku Midoryia and Ochacko Uraraka have finally broken through the first obstacle and are now our new front runners! Hope they can keep it.", Gar announced while waving to the two.
Then a large pillar of ice and a very loud explosion cascaded and roared across the jungle! On top of the ice pillar was Todoroki, who created an ice ramp down and out of the jungle. While the explosion came from Bakugou, who blasted himself clear out of the tree line and over the entire forest and a few blasts. The two of them took the lead within moments of leaving. Izuku and Uraraka looked on in shock of this with their mouths hanging wide open.
"And it looks like Katskui and Shoto have also gotten through with their own….methods. And are the new front runners.", Gar finally spoke after a brief moment of being dumbfounded in silence. He shrugs and adds on, "Well if the method works, then it's a good method."
"But not so fast folks, if you thought that was the worst of it, then you ain't seen nothing yet! This was only the fist of the Tri Elemental Challenge!", Mic announced to the adoring and excited crowd!
"Tri Elemental Challenge?", Izuku and Uraraka repeated in unison.
"That's right everyone, Tri Elemental Challenge!", Mic exclaimed a second time. "Our Pokemon Trainer Hero has set up three consecutive obstacles with three main elemental properties!", he explained briefly.
"The students are now starting to make their way out of the Machinal Jungle Maze, but let's see if they can also handle the Slippery Bowling Slopes, and the Heating Hellfire Plains.", Aizawa finally spoke up and explained the next obstacles vaguely.
"Slippery Bowling Slopes? Heating Hellfire Plains! Is Gar trying to kill us?!", Uraraka yelled, completely stressed out!
"Moral obligations aside, we gotta get going, otherwise we'll be left behind! I can already see everyone else making their way through!", Izuku stated while pointing at the Jungle, where several dozen students were piling out like a huge stampede.
Uraraka knotted and the two teens ran off along the path. They had only traveled a few meters before they quickly made it to the Slippery Bowling Slopes. and found this out very quickly when they felt the air temperature around them drop significantly and simultaneously slipping and falling on their butts.
They looked around and saw that the entire place was quite literally 'A Winter Wonderland'. Mounds of ice and snow covered and piled up all around the track, trees looked like they we're in their winter season with no leaves on their branches and snow covering each one with dripping icicles. Snow very gently fell from the sky and landed all around almost making the entire place look serene and calm. However, the two heroes quickly realized that this place was anything but serene or calm.
Every time they tried to stand up or advance along the track, they would immediately find themselves falling over and slipping on the ice hidden within the snow patches on the ground. Not only that, the ice patches were placed in such a way that when someone slipped on one, it would cause them to slip and then immediately crash into one of the large snow mounds or ice boulders littered around!
Eventually over a few dozen more students made it through and quickly found themselves slipping and sliding all around the track with little control. Soon it got even worse when the Pokemon finally joined in, Ice types to be exact! All of them started to shoot or breath out all manner of ice attacks that made the air temp drop further and caught several students in frozen traps! A few very large pokémon were also skidding across the ice at breakneck speeds and began to knock any unfortunate students that were in their way, off their feet. Causing them to fall over like bowling pins!
Todoroki and Bakugou were by far the only two having the best luck. Todoroki was nearly accustomed to running on ice and was able to make a wall on both sides that covered him from any attacks or pokémon. Bakugou couldn't use his full power to just vault himself out here, since his quirk was weakened by the cold, but he managed to make small explosions to push himself along the ice as he skated across.
Izuku and Uraraka managed to hide themselves behind a large ice mound and gain their bearings, while shivering violently! After a minute, Izuku finally spoke and summed up their current demila perfectly!
"Icy Wind, and Blizzard, and Sheer Cold!", He listed off all the ice moves being used against them.
"Oh my!", Uraraka chatters with stress! "W-W-W-Whats t-t-the p-p-plan n-now? If w-w-w-we D-D-Don't m-m-m-move, w-well f-f-f-f-freeze!", Uraraka asked between chattering teeth!
Izuku thought for a brief moment, looked between Uraraka and over their hiding spot to glance at the pokémon. Seeing all the pokémon directly fire their ice attacks in front He came up with a fast idea.
Turning to the girl he told her in a chatter, "T-T-Take your g-gravity aw-away."
Uraraka initially looks confused at this but eventually nods her head, trusting in the green teens intelligence. Uraraka touches herself and she levitates slightly in the air. Izuku then suddenly grabbed her arm, shocking and confusing the girl, as he jumped out from their hiding spot and activating a small portion of One for All he pulled the girl around his back before launching her into the air and far above the Ice types range.
"And….Fly!", he shouted with gusto as he lobbed the girl skyward and across the field of snow and ice!
"Deku-kun! Deku-kun!", Uraraka shouted in confusion and fright as she sailed off!
Just before he disappeared from her sight, she heard the boy shout to her with a bright smile, "Go Uraraka! At least one of us can still win this and go to the next round!"
"DEKU-KUN!", she yelled in the open air, as she cascaded from sight and flailed helpless through the air while trying to reach out to help her friend!
