Pokémon Trainer Hero

Chapter 68: Reunion

The next day Gar was walking through the school with a semi-clear consciousness. So much had been thrown on the table and so much had been exposed about him and it felt good to get it all out, but also made him feel kinda….hallow. At least he could say that things regarding the school and hero work would be dealt with by the actual pros and not him scrambling to make any sense or try and merge things so the school would be curb-stomped when something from his world caused trouble…..again.

He would only be asked to help when necessary and nothing else. But things still weren't perfect, there was still so much to think about and do. His public image and how it would affect the school and students, he had to fix that right away. Then there was Giovanni and Bayo running around doing whatever they wanted. And Bayo started to deal in illegal trading of Pokemon. If Pokemon of all things got into the hands of petty criminals, then things could get worse for everyone! And who knows what Bayo is up to?

Nothing good, Gar was sure of that. For now, he would just take things one step at a time. And right now he was taking his time walking towards the Support Department to meet up with Mei for their bi-weekly breaking of the Space-Time Continuum to bring more of his Pokemon to this world. If things got harder from here, he'd need every heavy hitter he had.

As he walked, Rotom peaked out from his pocket and asked, "Hey Garfield, you okay? Buzzt."

Gar sighs and answers, "Yeah I'm fine. I'm a lot better than I was before. Feels like a weight was taken off my shoulders. Though there's still a lot on my mind."

"Bayo, Giovanni, and that Handy's guy, what was his name again? Oh, forget it. Buzzt. It's that I wager? Buzzt.", Rotom guessed.

"You guessed right.", Gar confirmed while putting his hands behind his head.

"Well, nothing that we can do but take things in stride. Buzzt. And no matter what I'll always be here with you. Buzzt.", The Pokémon told him while flying out of his pocket and floating around his head with a smile.

Gar smiled back and said back with gratitude, "I'm always glad to hear that from you."

"By the way, where are we going? Buzzt.", Rotom asked as a funny feeling came over him.

"Somewhere you're very familiar with.", Gar said vaguely while looking away.

Rotom was confused at first by his reaction and mood, but then a horrible thought crossed his mind. He turned around and was greeted by a very familiar sign hanging over a very familiar metal door. He froze up for a moment as the circuits in his body began to fire off like crazy! He then produced a warning siren and tried to fly away! Though he was quickly grabbed by Gar as he moved towards the door!

"No no no no no no no! NOOOOOOOOOOO!", Rotom screamed in a panic.

Gar rolled his eyes with an exasperated sigh while stating, "Oh come on Rotom it's not that bad! Mei has made vast improvements to the machine so you don't get hurt. Last time you only flinched a few times."

"The process isn't what I'm scared about! Buzzt. It's that devil woman!", He shrieked with terror while trying to wiggle free.

Gar held the phone tight and told him flat out, "Mei is just eccentric, you know that."

"She tried to dissect me! And keep trying to do it! Buzzt.", He argued back.

Gar grips the Pokemon tight and places his face to its own before half yelling into it, "You're a Ghost Type!"

Rotom stops struggling and looks into the distance with a look of self-discovery as he replies in a significantly calm tone, "Oh yeah. Buzzt."

Gar slaps his face while saying in a fed-up tone, "I can't believe you keep forgetting that."

Just as Gar reached for the door, it suddenly flung open and out popped the hyper-caffeinated Mei and her good eyes that showed she hadn't slept in a few days!

"Gargle! Perfect timing!", She exclaimed while yanking Gat inside, pushing past the other Support Department students diligently working away.

"Still not my name, Mei.", Gar groaned as he allowed himself to be yanked around.

Mei stopped for a moment and turned around to giggle at him while saying, "I know your name, Garfield. That's just my nickname for you."

Gar paused and blinked at her a few times with a dumbfounded expression, as he said back, "Well why didn't you say so before.", He told her, agreeing to the nickname.

Mei smiles at his agreement and continues to pull him to her workstation. Which was, as you guessed it, away from everyone else and covered by blast-proof walls.

She pulled Far behind the barriers and displayed his Pokebox while saying proudly, "Well I made some more upgrades to it, so it should be better than before!"

Gar was almost impressed by her until he remembered who she was and convincingly asked her with narrowed eyes, "Please don't tell me you added a snow cone machine on it or have plans for one.", Mei didn't answer, and instead moved her eye to the side while kicking a snow cone machine out of sight. Gar sighs at her and says with a serious tone, "Let's just start this up."

Mei activated the machine and Rotom popped out of Gar's pocket with an uncomfortable expression on his face. Mei got an excited gleam in her eyes and reached out to touch Rotom, but received a small shock from the Pokémon, making her real back in pain.

Rotom then got into her face and exclaimed, "Hey! Buzzt. I got my eye on you devil woman!"

Mei just shrugged nonchalantly as Rotom moved away from her while keeping his eyes pinned on her. Rotom ejected himself from the phone and zipped into the Pokebox. Once his face showed up, Mei got into her place. She punched a few buttons on the device and fixed her goggles over her eyes while slapping dark shades on Gar.

"Engaging in three, two, one, go!", She exclaimed excitedly while pushing one last button and the machine exploded into bright light.

The light blared on for several seconds before dying down and making the machine go into rest mode. When the two people took off their eyewear they were shocked to see the result! Inside the Pokebox was nothing but a single Pokéball.

"Well, that's disappointing. Just one Pokéball?", Gar said with a disappointed tone.

"That wasn't supposed to happen.", Mei told him with a confused and shameful tone.

"How do you feel, Rotom?", Gar asked his Pokemon.

"Like nothing at all. Buzzt. Are you sure you turned it on?", Rotom asked back.

"Maybe it needs to be recalibrated a bit more. At least Rotom isn't under any stress, right Gargle?", Mei stated, looking at the bright side while scratching her head with a wrench.

Gar sighs exhausted and says aloud, "One problem solved only for another to take its place. Maybe we'll try again some other time."

"Well, even so, let's see what pops out of this one.", Mei looks at Gar with an excited smile.

Gar shoots her a confused glare and asks with a suspicious eyebrow, "I've never seen you interested in knowing which of my Pokemon get transported. What's the occasion, Mei?"

"Just curious, Gargle. I've never seen just one get transported. And besides, maybe it'll be a clue to why only one came through.", She theorized.

Gar placed a finger to his chin and thought aloud, "Can't argue there. Let me just take a look and see….."

Gar stopped mid-sentence as he stared off into space with the Pokéball in his hand. This raised the concern of both Mei and Rotom as they each looked at one another, hoping one of them had the answer. When neither of them did, Mei was the one to try and break the ice.

"Gargle?", She asked in an uncharacteristically low tone.

When he didn't respond, Rotom gave it a try. Asking his friend, "Garfield? Buzzt. You okay-?"

Before the Pokemon could finish that sentence, Gar let out a loud and high-pitched scream that lasted for a few minutes! Making everyone in the Support Department fall to their knees while grabbing their ears in pain! Once the screaming died down, Power Loader was the first one on the scene before being joined by a few other staff members.

"Mei! Is everything alright!? What happened!?", Power Loader frantically asked in a panic.

Then Midnight clicked in and announced, "What I'm the world was that!? I heard it from the teacher's lounge! It sounded like a dying mouse."

"I thought it was a prepubescent girl at a boy band concert.", Present Mic added, coming in right behind her.

"I thought Mic saw another ant.", Eraserhead put forth, coming right behind Mic.

When they all got into Mei's special containment-I mean work area, they found Gar looking whimsically at a single Pokéball cradled in his hands, held above his head. Rotom looked like he had blue screened harder than any computer with sparks flying out everywhere and X's in his eyes. And finally, Mei, who was on the floor in a strange position with swirls in her eyes and foam bubbling from her mouth.

"Buzzt. You're all wrong. It was Garfield.", Rotom was the one to correct and inform all of them.

"Garfield?", Power Loader questions with disbelief.

"Garfield, why did you scream so loud, and in the first place?", Present Mic asked him.

Gar whipped his head in the direction of the four adults and zoomed over to them in an instant, making them all flinch at his suddenness.

With a bright smile and glittering eyes, he exclaimed, "Nothing! Do you know what this is!?"

The four adults examined the item he held, and Aizawa stated flatly, "A regular Pokéball?"

"No silly! It's a very special Pokéball!", Gar corrected him.

"How?", They all asked.

"It holds the very first Pokemon I ever caught!", Gar said nostalgically while lovingly holding the Pokeball to his chest.

"But Persian is right here.", Mic told him while pointing to the huge cat by Eraserhead's feet.

Gar shook his head and told him, "No, not Persian. Persian was my first Pokemon, yes, but I didn't catch him.", He held the Pokéball out again with a flashy pose and excitedly told them, "This is the first Pokemon I ever caught! He's near and dear to my heart!"

The four adults started on at Gar with mixed expressions crossed from interest to intrigue. Then Power Loader spoke up and said what everyone was thinking.

"Well don't just stand there and explain it to us in suspense. Open it up!", he told him with some excitement.

Gar threw the now bigger Pokeball into the air and it popped open to reveal an unusually disturbing Pokemon that made the four adults feel a shiver of fear! It was a creepy bipedal Pokémon with a roundish body. It has red eyes, a wide mouth that is usually curled into a sinister grin, and pointed ears. On its back are numerous spikes and it has smaller spikes on top of its head similar to tufty fur. Its arms and legs are short with three digits on both its hands and feet. It also has a stubby tail.

"GAH! What the hell is that thing!?", Midnight shrieked while running into Power Loader, wrapping her body around his head in fear.

As usual, Rotom snapped out of its painful error trance and zipped back into Gar's phone to read its data, telling them, "Gengar, The Shadow Pokemon Dex# 94, a Ghost and Poison-type, and the evolved form of Haunter. It steals heat from its surroundings. If you feel a sudden chill, it is certain that a Gengar has appeared. Under a full moon, this Pokémon likes to mimic the shadows of people and laugh at their fright. It can pass through other dimensions and can appear anywhere. It caused a stir one time when it stuck just one leg out of a wall."

"That doesn't help my panicking!", Midnight shivered with disgust while holding Power Loader's head tighter to her chest.

Gar rolled his eyes in amusement and chuckled while saying, "Calm down Nemuri. Gengar is one of my oldest Pokemon next to Persian and Blastoise. I know him best, he won't do anything."

Midnight looked over to the weird cat-looking ghost and saw it also looking at her with its affixed smile. They stare at one another for several seconds until Gengar narrows his eyes, making Midnight narrows her own in confusion. Suddenly he popped them open, making them glow and smile wider at her with its teeth turning sharp!

Midnight flinched in fear and disgust while saying with a shiver, "Sure, yeah, whatever. Just keep that face with limbs away from me."

When Rotom floated down after temporarily breaking from its trance, he broke free fully this time and saw Gengar staring at him. Rotom blinked at the Pokemon and said to him, "Oh hey, it's you. Buzzt. Good to see you again. How have things been? Buzzt.", Gengar made a series of strange noises that no one could describe. Rotom nods and says back, "Oh here? Well it's kinda a long story, I'll explain later. Buzzt. You know anything about what is going on at the other end of the universe?", Gengar made the same indescribable sounds and Rotom continued to nod before saying in acknowledgment, "Buzzt. That makes sense."

The four adults stared in stunned silence at what was happening in front of them! Their eyes were wide, their eras fully focused, and their mouths slightly gaped in awe and disbelief.

Then Mic asked what they were all thinking, asking the Pokemon, "Wait, Rotom. Can you….. understand what it's saying?"

Rotom turned to the heroes and excitedly announced with a huge smile, "Of course, I am a Pokemon myself after all. Buzzt."

"Kinda wished we established this sooner.", Eraserhead quipped from the backlines.

Suddenly a light bulb appeared on Gar and he told the heroes with excitement, "Oh! I almost forgot! Gengar can do this awesome thing that I love! You wanna see it?!", the adults didn't even have a chance to respond before Gar turned to Gengar and told him, "Go on Gengar, do that thing I like."

Gengar smiled at Gar, then stared at the four heroes as it did something amazing but also disgusting! Its eyes and mouth shrunk down to such a size that they almost looked normal on its oval body. Instead of looking like a head with legs, it now looked like a fat creature whose body melded with its head.

"Okay, that was equal parts horrifying and unnatural.", Midnight said aloud while trying to hold down her breakfast.

"That's not the thing. This is!", Gar exclaimed in excitement as he motioned dramatically to the Pokemon.

The four adults looked at the Pokemon and watched as it consistently opened its mouth wide before returning it to its smaller size, all while producing a popping sound. Something that Gar found to be extremely entertaining. Once Gengar stopped its popping spree the heroes didn't look entreated in the slightest, unlike Gar who looked overjoyed to the nth degree.

"Uh-huh.", Power Loader said.

"Wow.", Eraserhead said sarcastically.

"Amazing I'm blown away.", Mic deadpanned while Midnight only sweatdropped.

With that 'amazing talent' out of the display, the four teachers returned to their classrooms or what they were doing to get classes for the day started. Gar blew a raspberry while waving off their reaction, then proceeded to lean down to huge the unusually large Pokemon.

Gar nestled into its surprisingly soft fur and whispered to the Pokemon, "Oh don't listen to them Gengar, they just don't get you as I do. I'm so glad you're here with me. I couldn't be happier right now."

Gengar looked up at his Trainer and nestled him back while closing its red eyes. Immersing himself into a hug that held such strong and nostalgic memories. Memories of a time when he aimlessly wandered through a small town and spooked the locals for fun. Only to be battled and caught by a trainer and had his whole afterlife turned on its head. And….we'll…..things couldn't be better from there. That's much he was sure of!

Hey everyone I know it's a bit weird to see AN at the end of a chapter from me, but don't panic, I'm not going on hiatus, just here to clear something up in my last comments I got. Since even I have to admit there's a bit of inconsistency I'll try to explain it as best I can.

First to the person who commented under Guest: I do have to admit you are right. Baca goes first meeting with Gar and already having people like Bayo in his world does seem a bit inconsistent, And I admit it was a bit of inconsistency on my part. Though I do have a few reasons for this. First off I didn't conceptualize his whole organization and everything about him or even pure PokeGene long after I uploaded the first chapter.

The other reason is simply due to the rarity. People with pure PokeGene are extremely rare, and most of them work under Bayo. Also after such a traumatizing situation with what Bayo did, It would make sense that Gar would try to push that thought out of his head, and simply forget.

Another reason is simply due to the intensity of Bakugou's quirk. People with pure PokeGene Don't have anything as intense as he does. Bayo is by far the most severe case of this with his manipulation of darkness itself. So seeing this plus his repressed memories would lead Gar to believe that Bakugou wasn't a human.

Another thing to note is that Bakugou was acting extremely aggressive for no reason. A trait that's usually synonymous with Pokémon who are either territorial or have been hurt in some manner. Like how Mewtwo would attack anyone or anything that got into its territory.

So yeah that's my reasoning for that inconsistency.

Now on to the commenter who went under the name of Galactic. Now I do agree with you as Pokémon diamond was the first game I ever played alongside Platinum, So I 100% know that Cyrus did win. Ghetsis and Giovanni denied that he won, simply because they didn't understand his way of thinking.

And as for my reasoning as to why Cyrus has a much different motive Is simply due to his time in the Distortion World. Cyrus wanted a world just like The Distortion World. He spent so much time there that his admiration for it blossomed back into obsession. So he wanted to spread its beauty to other worlds…..all other worlds. He wants the Distortion World to be every world there exists.

So I hope that clears Everything up. See you in the next Chapter. Plus Ultra!
