Pokémon Trainer Hero
Chapter 72: Upgrades and Potty Mouth.
The following day, Gar skipped out on lessons in order to rest and decompress from yesterday's fiasco. It was nearing the end of the day and Gar had received a text from his provider about his upgrade request finally being completed. So he casually made his way to the Support Department to see what had been made. Before he could even knock on the metal doors, they flew open with a dirty Mei staring excitedly at him with intense eyes being fueled by caffeine and adrenaline.
Before he could get a word in she immediately grabbed his arm and dragged him inside while exclaiming, "Gargle! You're right on time! Come on in and see my new babies!"
Before he could even breathe, Gar was grabbed by his arm and yanked in forcefully by Mei! The girl was so overly enthusiastic that she literally dragged him behind her like a flag.
As she zoomed through the Support Department Gar greeted the other students, saying to them, "Afternoon everyone."
"Hey, Gar.", they all said back in unison without looking up from their work.
After a few seconds of being widely pulled into the backspace, where Mei was stationed for her and everyone else's safety. Once there she set him before a covered object on a table and excitedly went over to the cloth while practically shouting, "Are you ready!?"
"Only after you bathe, eat, and sleep for 8 hours.", Gar deadpanned at seeing her state and sweat dripping awkwardly.
She smiled manically while letting her ego show and stated boldly, "Sleep is for the weak! Now get ready for…..", she drawled out while grabbing the hem of the sheet in anticipation, much to Gar's awkward dismay. She then pulled the sheet away and announced exuberantly, "TA-DA!"
Gar gazed down at the object under the cloth and saw that it was the new A.M.P.D that he and Mei had been working on earlier in the week. It looked pretty nice all things considered. It looked like a smartwatch, but bigger in comparison. It had a touch screen with two small ingrained buttons on the side, and the final touch was the receiver that would sit over the top of his hand, which was meant to withdraw and deposit Pokeballs from the vault. Gar had already seen the final product, so it wasn't as shocking as he would've liked it to be. Though there was one thing that made it stand out, it wasn't much.
"Ya painted it a different color….cool.", he uncomfortably stated while trying his best to sound impressed in the face of the overworked girl.
And the A.M.P.D was colored differently than the exposed metal framework and wires from before. Now a white base outer protective shell marked with a blue aesthetic gives it a popping look!
Mei waved her hand at his lackluster statement and said, "No silly. It is finally done! Fully functional P.B.T!"
Gar smiled while looking at the device, then found his face falling as he realized what she said. He looked back at her, wondering if the lack of self-care had finally gotten to her, and asked concerned, "The….what now?"
"P.B.T. It stands for Portable Buddy Transporter, I thought it was easier than A.M.P.D.", she explained, putting Gar's mind at ease.
He thought the new name over for a bit and finally said, "Not bad. I like it. So you got all the upgrades I asked for?"
Mei smiled so hard her eyes closed, shaking her head wisely and telling him while holding the deceive up and out towards him, "Yep! Small, portable, lightweight, and durable! Halo graphic technology, and shorter cool downtime!"
Gar took the device, strapping it to his wrist and noticing the vast weight difference and comfort level. He then looks over it for a moment as he asked her while securing the device, "What about the number of Pokéballs I can switch out? Did you say you get it up to 12?"
This time it was Mei's turn to sweatdrop awkwardly as she bashfully admitted, "Yeah…about. I couldn't. Every time I tried, it would double the cool-down time. So you can only pull out six extras for a reduced cooldown of 3 hours from 6."
Gar shrugged at this and replied indifferently, "Well that's still an improvement. We'll just have to fix those bugs on a different date.", this made Mei smiled at her accomplishment. Then Gar asked her, "How about my other order?"
Mei clapped her hands and exclaimed while running off, "Just one sec!"
As Gar waited around, turning on and fiddling with his new P.B.T, he heard a familiar voice call out his name. "Hey, Gar!", Gar turned his gaze from the activated screen and saw Izuku, Uraraka, Iida, and Shoto all coming in together and straight towards him.
Gar smiled at the approaching teens and greeted them back, saying, "Oh, hey you guys. What's up?"
"Not much, just came here to pick up our upgraded suits. Funny how we ran into each other at the same time.", Uraraka told him cheerfully.
"Yeah, coincidence.", Gar agreed.
"You weren't in class today. Taking the day to rest after yesterday?", Iida asked him, only to immediately regret his choice of words.
Though Gar didn't seem bothered by it at all. Instead, he seems to let it pass over calmly while replying with a sense of satisfaction, "Yep, but you guys don't have to worry. I felt much better after punishing All Might."
"Yeah…that sure was something.", Izuku says in agreement with obvious anxiety and awkwardness in his throat.
"So what brings you here anyway?", Uraraka bursts in, trying to change the subject.
Gar shrugs and says back, "Same as you, I guess? Mei was about to show off the fruits of her labor."
"Can we see?", Iida inquired curiously.
"Nothing's gonna explode, is it?", Izuku asks with a bit of fear and shock from the last time it happened.
"Not these babies….I hope.", Gar's sweat drops awkwardly while silently pleading with Arceus for that to not be the case.
"I hope you're ready, Gargle, cause I got-!", Mei begins to say as she drags out a rolling clothing rack before pausing as she notices the other four students with him. After she gets the rack fully out she pauses and greets them saying, "Oh, hi friends of Gargle."
"Friends of Gargle?", Uraraka comments back insulted.
"We have names!", Iida exclaims with equal insult.
"Does she think we're some kind of an accessory with you?", Izuku asks Gar loud enough for Mei to hear.
Gar laughed dry and uncomfortable, trying to defend her he told them, "Give her a break, she's running on fumes and coffee."
"Now then, are you ready!", Mei asks exuberantly while partially shouting it.
"Don't leave us in suspense Mei, just do the reveal.", Gar told her straight up.
Mei rips off the sheet covering the clothing rack in one go and yells, "TA-DA!"
Though no reaction came from anyone as they saw something that looked no different from what they had seen many times before and not too long in the past. Eventually, Izuku pied up and asked what was on everyone's mind, inquiring, "Are those your hero costumes? The ones that are designed for the Pokémon types?"
"Sure are.", Gar says with a lackluster tone.
"I don't….I see nothing different about them. No offense Mei.", Uraraka shared her two cents.
Mei laughs like a haughty rich person and says back, "That's the point! It's supposed to be underwhelming on surface level."
"Well don't just leave us in suspense. Tell us about the new modification.", Gar pressures her more, looking and sounding more excited.
Mei practically jumps for joy as she pulls off the first one and partially shoves it into the face of all five people, exclaiming with her explanation, "The first one is the Fire Type outfit. With its 8 fold and triple-layered insulation, you can survive the heat of nearly any caliber! In addition to the helmet and breathing apparatus, you can move through areas with little to no air! In addition.", she draws out while putting it into an area with metal lining everywhere and pulling up a flame thrower! She flicks it on, dawns her goggles, and blasts the suit while yelling over the roar of the flames, "COMPLETELY FIREPROOF!", the five people stand there in flabbergasted science and back away from the crazed girl while Gar himself tries to shield them behind his body. After the flames die out, the suit isn't even blackened and she throws the device away while saying, "You could swim in a volcano if you wanted to."
The Fire-Type outfit looked like it had from before it was upgraded. Flaming designs on the bodysuit, shorts, shoes, gloves, and headband with all the Pokeball decals on it and the hoodie was designed after Charizard. Though this time it had a separate helmet with a breathing tube going into an air tank on the back, making no skin showing in any way.
Mei then proceeded to the next one and this time when she tried to shave it into their faces, Gar forcefully held her back and calmed her down. To which she seemingly obliged and explained the details of the next one, telling them, "The Water Type outfit is made with a scale-like design based on the fastest fish in the ocean and perfectly streamlined! Plus with the added insulation, mask, breathing apparatus, and reinforced material; you can survive the coldest depths of the ocean and pressure depths exceeding 50,000 ft below sea level. Along with retractable fins, webbing in between gloves, retractable water skis, and a wrist-mounted grapple to hook onto your Pokémon."
The Water Type outfit, much like the Fire Type, was different from the original. Same water design on all parts with hoodie designed after Vaporeon. And like the Fire suit it came with a full face mask and breathing apparatus, but with fins that laid over the shins of the suit's legs alongside the other amphibious parts and an O2 tank.
She moved to the next one and explained it to them, saying, "The Grass Type outfit I had to get a bit creative with. I designed it after the skin cells of cephalopods, so you can camouflage within any foliage shrub or bloom!", She explained while placing the outfit behind a wall that mimics a forest setting, only for it to immediately shift exactly like its background. "In addition to silencing your footsteps, I added these babies. I call them, Pollen bombs! One of these and anyone will be sent on the ground reeling in tearful, snot driven coughs, and wheezing fits of misery!", She exclaimed while holding one of the bombs in a tight fist, with fiery excitement that came off as sadistic to her viewers, who tried to ignore it.
The Grass outfit, like the others, was colored in different greens with the hoodie styled after Sceptile. There were even separate pouches just for the previously stated bombs. Apart from that, there was not much else.
"The Electric Type outfit is perfectly insulated to any outside electrical force! Equipped with a grapple anchor that can be used as a lighting rod!", Mei explained while pushing the outfit onto a platform and hooking up what looked to be oversized jumper cables. Once hooked up she flipped a breaker and a huge amount of electricity surged into the outfit. "YOU CAN be STRUCK BY LIGHTNING!", She yelled over the sound of the pulsating electricity, While the others looked on with horrified expressions. She flipped the breaker off and continued with her explanation telling them, "In addition, the several nodes can charge up the in-suit battery which powers the electrical wheels on your boots! Allowing you to move at a speed of 35 miles per hour or faster depending on the wattage!"
The electric outfit was colored electric yellow and had what looked to be roller skates on the feet both the suit and the hoodie, which was designed after Pikachu, had special opposite-colored nodes all along the body.
"The Flying Type outfit is made for the skies!... if you can find a higher enough place to jump off. The cold of the sky is no trouble with the insulation and wind speed pressure won't rip the durable fabric, alongside the reinforced goggles! The suit can be used in two different ways; flying squirrel gliding, and full wingsuit!", She began her explanation before stopping short and looking like her brain was buffering. Everyone looked at each other awkwardly before she suddenly clapped a fist onto her palm and exclaimed excitedly, "OOOOOOOOHHHHHH! I'm gonna have to add jest to it!"
The flying outfit seemed to be pretty conflicting in terms of color. While the hoodie was designed after Staraptor, The bodysuit pants shoes, and gloves were all colored like that of a cloudy sky. With different shades and hues of white blue and gray. Even the wingsuit underneath his arms looked pretty advanced. It looked that by the flick of a dial on his wrist the suit would change meeting the two standards, and had all the proper nicknads and doodads to do that. The goggles also seem to be built into the headband.
Before she can go off to do that or start putting together even more ideas, Gar made a very loud and annoyed, "AHEM!"
"In the future I mean.", Mei quickly retorted with a sweat drop before moving over to the next one and telling them, "The Ice Type outfit is perfectly insulated for any temperature on the planet! A built-in heater, climbing claws, spiked boot bottoms, retractable skis, snowboard, ice skates, and snowdrift shoes! With the added grapple gun to hook on your more snow-driven Pokemon."
The ice outfit was designed with different shades of blues and whites, while the hoodie wasn't even a hoodie at all. It was a full-scale deep snow parka coat with fur insulation and fur design around the neck and wrists. It was also designed after the look of Walrein. The goggles also seem to be built into the headband.
"Why don't you just put the grapple gun on everything?", Gar snarkily joked with a chuckle, getting a few chuckles from everyone else.
"Great idea!", She agreed with excitement, as Gar stood there mentally languishing about how it was a joke. Before he could tell her that she moved on to the next outfit and explained it, "The Bug Type outfit gives you several buggy abilities! Hardened body armor, shock-absorbing boots, micro hooks on both boots and gloves, poison resistance, and underarm glide attachment, compound goggles to see in all directions with pheromone tracking, pheromone bombs, sticky bombs, and best of all….", She drew out purposefully as everyone in anticipation. She pulled apart the outfit for a brief moment and showed what was underneath it while exclaiming, "Metal robotic attachment to increase your strength!"
That part Gar was actually kind of impressed with. He didn't even see anything different about the suit until after May showed the metal attachments. It looks so unassuming from the outside, with the hoodie being inspired by Combee and the other parts having colorations similar to that of Vibrava. Gar was most excited to try this one out from everything that it had hidden away under the fabric.
She moved on to the next one, explaining, "The Poison outfit is pretty cut and dry compared to the other. Immunity to all forms of poisonous things, a suction tube for any present poisons to be distributed and reused in your poison bombs!"
The Poison outfit was colored in several bright colors of purple that showed danger, while the hoodie was styled after Seviper. There were two devices on the forearms that looked something like water guns. They had tubs that traced the arms before going to a small container at the lower back, seated on the belt.
Mei showed off the next one which looked like something Ojiro would wear. Telling them, "The Fighting Type outfit allows for full body flexibility and movement, along with ultra hardened parts to your vital areas! With another set of robotics limb enhancers that are far more powerful than the ones on the Bug outfit!"
As she explained this she pulled away from the fabric to show another exoskeleton limb enhancer that looked much more well built than the Bug one. It looked like he could do some damage with this. The outfit itself was designed like that of a martial arts outfit, even having no shoes and a long-tailed hair cloth instead of a headband. With the hoodie being the thing that stuck out the most, and was also designed after the Pokemon Hitmonlee, with no shoes present. Apart from that, there wasn't anything significant.
She moved to the next one and explained it, but in a much more awkward and embarrassing way, telling them, "The Steel Type outfit can be changed from soft to ultra-hard with the push of a button! The fabric hardens and becomes hard enough to take some serious damage! Although it comes at the cost of your movement….which you'll have none of."
'So that's why she's so out of character. Can't blame you here though for wanting to go above and beyond. But there are drawbacks can't gain and not lose something in return.', Gar thought to himself.
The Steel outfit, unsurprisingly, was colored like it was made of pure iron, with the hoodie designed after none other than Steelix. Apart from that, it wasn't flashy or anything, it was pretty plain and Gar had no idea how the hardening function even worked.
"The Ground Type outfit is similar to the Grass Type outfit, as it too can camouflage you to any earthly background! With the addition of a sandboard, high-powered goggles to see crystal clear in any sandstorm, and dust bombs!", Mei explained the next one.
The Ground outfit was colored like dust and sand with the dust bombs in a special pouch on the hips. Mei even showed the camo ability by placing it against an earthy background. The hoodie was designed after Sandaconda, and the goggles were built into the headband.
Moving to the next one she said, "The Rock Type outfit is similar to Grass and Steel Type outfits, as it too can blend to any stoney background and the fabric can harden to super levels at the cost of movement! Though not as much as the Steel Type outfit. Alongside a set of limb enhancers that sit snugly between the Bug and Fighting Type outfit strength levels!"
Mei once again showed off the camo abilities of the suit as she placed it behind a stoney background. The Rock suit was designed with a hard stone-like texture to its look, almost appearing to be made out of some kind of chert. The hoodie was also designed after Crustle, and Gar still had no idea how it hardened up. Maybe he should ask Kirishima about that?
"The Dark Type outfit can let you perfectly blend into any darkened background even if there is light still present! The mask will mute your voice and breathing while the boots muffle your footsteps, and smoke bombs for a quick escape when caught in the light!", she explains while holding the two different bombs in her hands.
The bombs themselves are looked a lot like marbles but with different monochromatic colors. The smoke bombs were a shade of purple so dark it looked black! The suite was dark shades of black, very dark gray, and very dark purple, while the hoodie was designed after Zoroark.
"The Psychic Type outfit makes you fully immune to all forms of mental attacks, probing, and invasion!", Mei explained like it was nothing, leading Gar to feel less than impressed since he already had that naturally. But then Mei jumped back in and stated, "However, I manage to work a little engineering magic, and when you connect with a psychic type Pokémon, you can add your mental power to their own or use theirs!", with this explanation, both Gar and everyone else's jaws hit the floor in shock! To think such a thing could be possible with technology is just insane! Now Gar was fully impressed with her! Though before it could take wind, Mei followed up by saying, "But I haven't tested it yet, so who knows if it works."
The Psychic outfit looked exactly as it did back at the Sports Festival, with the different psychedelic colors and hoodie designed after Mewtwo, it had virtually no changes. Apart from what looked to be a weird headset crown-looking thingy that wrapped around the head and traced down the spinal column of the neck.
Before she could go on the next outfit, Izuku noticed how Mei had seemingly skipped the Normal Type outfit despite it being in between the Steel and Bug ones. So he asked her, "What about the Normal Type outfit, Mei-chan?"
Mei just stopped what she was doing, looked back and forth between the outfit and Izuku in silence before looking at him and saying in a lackluster tone, "It's…..just a regular outfit."
This got a unison of awkward seta drops from everyone present, and to be fair it was quite true. The Whole outfit is a coffee cream color with the hoodie designed after Eevee, nothing special.
"Now then! The Ghost Type Outfit is sorta like the Dark Type outfit, except you need a Ghost Type to use it!", Mei jumped back onto her excited explanation train while going over to the next one.
Gar snarked at her statement and jokingly asked while playfully elbowing Todoroki, "Lemme guess. It lets you walk through solid objects, right?"
Everyone but Todoroki snickered at the joke but Mei practically slapped them all as she stated, "Exactly!", thus leading the teen to stand there in awkward shock at her confirmation. Though this also passed as she readily admitted, "Though I still haven't tested it yet, so who knows if it works."
As everyone sweatdropped at the whole 'who knows if it works' routine again, Gar looked over at the last two outfits and inquired of them, asking the girl, "What about the last two? The Dragon and Fairy-Type outfits."
Mei looked over and said with a vague yet teasing tone, "Oh, those two. Well, I'm not gonna say. I'll just let you find out for yourself."
"Aww, man! That's not fair, Mei-chan!", Izuku complained.
"Yeah, no fair at all! I wanna know!", Uraraka complained while shaking his fists in frustration.
"I hate suspense.", Todoroki added his own two cents with an unpleasant expression.
"You're doing that on purpose!", Iida commented while waving his arms frantically.
As they all complained about the suspense, Gar sighed complacently and praised her, "Though I gotta say, Mei. You outdid yourself. All I did was give a general idea of what I was thinking, and you took it and went to the moon and back."
"Oh shucks! It was nothing. You can't praise me and expect me to get all giddy, you big idiot.", she tried to bad mouth him off while clutching her happily rosy cheeks and swaying back and forth like some happy dancer with a huge smile on her face.
"Your expression and mannerism say otherwise, Mei.", Izuku told her.
"You can't fool us, you fool.", Uraraka added.
As they tried to tell the girl off for her obvious hypocrisy, Todoroki approached Gar from the side and asked him in a hushed voice, "Hey Gar, could talk to you for a moment….privately."
Gar was taken aback by this but agreed, replying, "Uh….sure.", once the two of them were out of earshot, Gar asked him, "What's up?"
Todoroki seems to fidget in his spot while rubbing his arm as he asks like it was uncomfortable for him, "This has…. actually been on my mind for a while now. Back at the Sports Festival, when you fought my dad, how come he beat Articuno and not the other one?"
"The 'Other one' as you so elegantly put it, is called Cramorant.", Gar snorted with amusement before telling him upfront, "And don't be silly, your dad didn't beat Articuno, I let him."
"What?", Todoroki asked, visibly confused by his statement.
Gar crosses his arms while closing his eyes and shakes his head like an exasperated parent and explains, "Oh Shoto, be realistic here. Your dad is a tough guy, but even he couldn't beat a God. Even if that god was a lesser god and younger on top of it. Had Articuno gone all out, then that fight would've ended in seconds."
"But then…why?", he asks back, trying to wrap his brain around it all.
Gar rolls his eyes in amusement and tells him, "I staged it, Shoto. I tantalize his ego with the falsified victory of beating a Legendary Pokemon, and then absolutely obliterated him with a normal Pokemon going all out!", Todoroki went to open his mouth, no doubt to ask another question, but Gar cut him off fast. Then followed up by saying, "Now before you ask anything else, let me explain. If I had gone all out on your dad with Articuno from the beginning, then he would've just thought there would be no reasonable way a man could beat a God, and just train or try harder than before. And then put that same strain and expectation on you. So instead I humiliated him. Does all that make sense? Did I answer all your questions?", Todoroki ponders this for a few moments before consenting with a silent head nod. Gar smiles and says, "Good to hear."
Just as they finished up their conversation, Uraraka approaches them and calls out Gar's name, "Hey Gar."
"Yeah.", Gar asks back.
"FUCK YOU!", comes out the loud screechy words from the rosy-cheeked girl's open mouth.
Immediately taken aback and insulted by this he demands, "Excuse you!?"
"I didn't say that.", Uraraka quickly retorts.
"Yes, you did! You just said-!", Gar tried to argue back until the same screechy voice called out, seemingly from his open mouth, "Stupid Bitch!"
"Excuse you, now?!", Uraraka demands back.
"No I didn't!", Gar argues back.
"Yes you did-.", Uraraka tried to use his own words against him, until Gar quickly got fed up.
He slaps his face, then quickly pinches the girls lips closed, cutting her off, and states firmly, "There's no time for a recurring gag! Who the Heliolisk is screaming profanity?"
"Bakugou didn't come with us to the Support Department.", Iida put forth, immediately ruling out that suspicion.
"Speaking of such. Has anyone else noticed that Bakugou-kun had been acting weirdly?", Uraraka asks as Izuku and Gar look at one another like two guilty cats in the fish tank.
Gar quickly changes the topic, stating, "Let's put a pin on that for right now. One mystery at a time."
"Garfield!", a loud and very familiar voice calls out his name, followed by the sound of fast-paced high heels.
"Oh boy. Just one thing after the other.", Gar groans to himself while sweating drops. Then the Support Department door flies open and marches in a very frantic and stressed look Midnight to the back. Gar sighs and asks, "Hello Nemuri, what's wrong?"
"Have you noticed someone screaming loud profanities around here?", She hurriedly asks him.
Gar blows out a raspberry in anxiety and replies, "Normally I'd direct you in Katsuki's direction, but he ain't here, also, what's that gotta do with me?"
Midnight tries to fix back her messy hair and says to him, "Because where or whoever it's coming from has been screaming it all day through several classroom and disturbing lessons. We've tried to find the culprit, but have come up empty. It's almost like it's coming from the walls and ceiling."
"And? What does that have to do with me?", Gar asks back, a bit impatient of all the dodging around.
Midnight sighs to calm herself down and asks him in a much calmer tone, "In light of this Garfield, the only conclusion that we could think of is that it's one of your Pokemon, or maybe you can use one of them to get to the bottom of this mystery?"
"But Midnight Sensei, Pokemon can't talk. They're like animals.", Izuku tells her.
"Actually, she's right.", Gar says while tapping his chin.
"Huh?", the students ask in confusion.
"I'll explain what I mean later, but for now I think our potty-mouthed murk is amongst us as we speak, and I know how to get 'em!", he hurriedly tells them before looking up to the ceiling and stating, "First I need a ladder to reach the ceiling."
It took a moment for the few other Support Department students, who had crowded around, to break out of their uncomfortable stupor and get him a long enough ladder to reach the top. Once the ladder was set he climbed up it and removed one of the ceiling panels.
"Okay, what now?", Midnight asked him from below.
"Watch and learn.", Gar tells them while pulling out a strange-looking seed grass on a dry stalk from his pouch.
"What are those?", Izuku asks from below.
"Pokémillets. Flying types love these! They're like drugs to them.", Gar briefly explains to them before turning his head away and reaching his arm up and into the open space.
"But what does-?", Uraraka tried to ask him, only to be cut off.
"You'll see.", Gar tells her as he stands there still as a statue and waits.
After a few minutes of waiting they all began to hear the very tiny pitter-patter of feet running across the ceiling panels. Within another minute something began to grab and audibly eat at the Pokémillets in Gar's hand. Without a second to spare, Gar quickly ran the rest of his arm into the darkness and stacked up whatever was eating the food! The sound of screams could be heard from above, but they didn't come from a human mouth. They came from what sounded like some kind of exotic bird, almost like a complaining budgerigar.
"GOTCHA! Little rascal.", Gar shouted as he grabbed the thing and began to descend the ladder. Once at the bottom he holds out his hand and shows it off while saying, "Okay everyone, here is our disturbance of the peace."
Everyone looked at his hand and clutched firmly in it, on its back, was a parrot-like creature the size of a cockatoo. Its head is black and resembles the eighth note, while its black tail resembles a metronome. Its plumage is brightly colored with blue wings, a yellow chest and feet, a green stomach, and a pink, hooked beak and eyelids. Additionally, there is a ruff of white feathers around its neck. As it lays on Gar's clutched hand, it keeps its beak open and tries to nip at Gar's fingers in an attempt to escape.
"A parrot?", Uraraka asks, confused.
"That's the weirdest parrot I'd ever seen.", Midnight comments.
"No silly. He's a Chatot.", Gar tells them
"Chatot?", everyone, but Izuku, asks him.
And like clockwork, Rotom pops out of his pocket and pulls up its dex entry. Reading aloud, "Chatot, the Music Note Pokemon, dex #144, a Normal and Flying Type. Thanks to its malleable beak, human-like tongue, perceptive hearing, photographic memory, and unique vocal cords, Chatot can perfectly mimic any sound it hears no matter the pitch or volume. This includes languages and understanding their meanings."
"Thank you Mr. Exhibition.", Gar thanks him sarcastically.
"You're welcome. Buzzt.", Rotom shot back with his sarcasm.
"So this bird was the one yelling all those curses?", Midnight asks him while adjusting her glasses.
Gar nods and explains to her, "Yep, he has a habit of playing games that no one else enjoys. And he loves teasing and getting a rise out of others. But I have no idea how he got out of his ball, out of the safe, and got into the school's ceilings. Don't worry, I'll take care of him from here."
Just before he left, Midnight stopped him, exclaiming, "Hold on just a minute!", Gar stops in his tracks, feeling a sense of uncomfortable Dredd rush upon him and the woman asks suspiciously, "How does that bird know all those words?"
Gar briefly tries to think up an excuse, but nothing comes to mind so he consents to the truth, readily admitting, "UGH! No sense in hiding it…fine, I'm the one who taught him. Happy?"
Midnight narrows her eyes disapprovingly at him while Iida asks with the same amount of disapprovement, "Why?"
Gar sighs irritated and half shouts, "I was fourteen. What fourteen-year-old doesn't think cursing is the best thing in the world?"
"Hold on a second.", Uraraka stops the current conversation from going any further, as all eyes are on her. She then follows up by asking, "How in the world does he know our curses?"
"Huh?", Gar asks back, also confused now.
"When you curse, you say things like son of a Marowack, Frillish frying, Shiinotic, Heliolisk, Distortion World, Arceus dammit. While he talks like Bakugou-kun. What's up with that?", She explains her train of thought behind her question.
Gar went to open his mouth to explain, but he stopped himself and placed his hand on her chin as he said to himself, "Huh? I guess that theory is true after all."
"What are you talking about?", Midnight asked him.
Seeing all their confusion, Gar doubled back and explained more carefully, "Okay, in my world there's this theory called the 'Universal Law Theory', and it's a thought that any two universes with different rules will cause any entity to enter from the opposing to adhere to them or merge them."
"Huh?", everyone asked in unison.
Gar groaned aggravated and after rubbing his face across his hands, he said while waving his hand in front of him, "Okay let me try to dumb it down for you. Say there are two universes, one with blue Oran Berries, and the other with red Oran Berries. Now with what you do understand about Universal Law Theory, let's say that the blue Oran Berries went into the red one's universe. What do you think will happen?"
"Uh, nothing?", Izuku answers unsure.
"Invasion of an exotic species?", Iida puts forth.
"The blue ones turn red, obviously.", Todoroki says with some assurance.
Gar shakes his head and tells them all, "Wrong. Only a few will turn red, some will stay blue, others will decay, while some may revert to seed or sprout. That is Universal Law Theory."
"So you're saying that when you moved from your universe to ours, your world's way of cursing stayed the same. But when Chatot did, he changed to ours.", Uraraka asks back, trying to make sense of it.
Gar smiles and points at her while exclaiming, "Exactly right! Any number of things could happen, but some are so minute or hidden that it's still been a theory to this day. It could be the rate at which fingernails grow, or how apples make your stomach upset. But this is concrete evidence! I can't wait to tell the lab boys back at home!"
"That's all fine and dandy, just make sure he doesn't escape again.", Midnight interrupts his excitement with a firm and serious tone.
Gar trunks to the serious-looking woman and inquires, "You seem to be harping on this Nemuri. Sure he was a disturbance and rude, but was he that bad."
Midnight shoots him an 'are you kidding me?' look and tells him with an irritated tone, "He took a particular interest in antagonizing Bakugou-kun throughout the day. You can probably guess how that went down and where it's gone as of now."
"Tied up in Nezu's office courtesy of Shota.", Gar guesses as Midnight only gives him a silent expression of annoyed confirmation. Gar sweat drops at this and tells her, "I'll keep a better eye on him."
