Pokémon Trainer Hero
Chapter 77: Fake Date
After dealing with the insufferable trio of Bonnie, Clyde, and Clefairy, Gar dragged his feet towards the dorms with the only thought on his mind being his bed and sleep for the next 10 hours at the very least. He was just a few yards from the doors, the feeling of relief washing over him as his goal was nearly in sight when the winds of fate decided to change course.
Before he knew it, something had tackled him from behind while gripping his dominant arm in a backward hold! Without many struggles on his end, he flopped to the floor and allowed whoever was on him to just hold him there.
As he lay with his face in the dirt, he tried to figure out who it was from how their body was pressed against him. From here he noted a few things: muscular, strong, and female. There were only a few people he knew that met that description and would do something like this, and luckily for him they just so happened to start speaking as he was going through the options.
"Hey stud, what's shaking?", he heard the teasing voice of Miriko speak into his ear.
With his face still planted in the earth, he shot back with a nonchalant tone, "Hi Rumi's boobs, hi Rumi."
A tack mark bulged on the woman's head and she irritated clicked her tongue while saying, "Still with that mouth I see!"
Without a moment of hesitation, she grabbed his arm and pulled it behind him in what should've been a painful armbar! But Gar didn't even flinch!
Mirko noticed this, releasing her grip and asking with confusion and disappointment, "Hey, no reaction?"
Gar sighed deeply while face down in the dirt and arched his head to the side just enough for his mouth to be free and he told her, "Rumi, listen. I'm not in the mood for whatever you have in mind. I just had a long day and I want nothing more than to go die in my bed."
Mirko pouted and said, "Oh, but where's the fun in that? Besides, we have a proposal for you."
Before Gar could ask what she wanted, he noted the keyword and asked, "We?"
At this, something with wings flapped down towards the ground, kicking up dust and wind near his face. When it stopped and he brought his face up, he saw Hawks squatting on the floor in front of him.
He held up a peace sign with his nonchalant expression as he said, "Yo."
"Oh, hi Keigo's crouch, hi Keigo.", Gar sarcastically remarked as he looked up, seeing the man's crotch before his face.
Mirko jumped in and reinstated, "Now about our proposal."
Gar sighs and says, "Sorry but I'm happily taken. Find someone else for your weird threesome you got going on."
"No no no. Not that kinda proposal. An offer.", Hawks corrected.
Gar rolls his eyes as he states, "Well I'm not in the mood, I got a Lechonk waiting for me to cuddle with."
"Lechonk?", they both asked, confused by the word.
As if on cue, the doors to the dorms opened, and out walked a small but cute Pokemon that resembles a hog. Its body is almost entirely black, except for the brown colorations on its face and ears, and the yellow growths under its eyes that resemble teardrops. Its ears are droopy and partially cover its eyes. It has a triangular pink snout with two huge oval nostrils, as well as stubby feet ending in pink hooves. Its tail is short and curled.
"Ah, speak of the Giratina now.", Gar said as the Pokemon happily trotted up towards them.
Hawks and Miriko both looked confused at the small creature as it walked up to Gar and climbed into his face. Gar sighs with the creature's belly on his face as he says in a muffled tone, "Ah, nice warm Lechonk belly."
Even after this, Miriko refused to get off Gar or release him, and Hawks didn't leave either. Gar could tell they were not getting the hint, so he amused the two of them and asked, "Alright alright, let's hear this 'proposal' of yours."
He could almost hear the smile fall on each of their faces as he asked that. He then heard Miriko remind him, "You know how the media got it into their heads that you're 'dating' one of us."
Gar shivers underneath Lechon's warm belly and muffles out, "Don't remind me."
"Well what if the three of us capitalize on it.", Hawks follows up.
Gar was silent for a moment before inquiring, "I don't follow."
"Let's go on a date, the three of us.", Miriko explained simply.
Gar gives an agitated sigh and reiterates, "Like I said I'm happily spoken for."
"What she means is the three of us go on a fake date.", Hawks explains in more detail.
"Fake date?", Gar repeats the key phrase.
"Yeah, we go out and make the media think it's a date when it's not.", Mirko explains.
Gar then manages to nudge off Lechonk from his face, enough for his mouth to be free and he asks further, "And the purpose of this whole plan of yours is…..?"
"In one part it'll be for publicity. The media does like a good scandal. But the main reason is just for our entertainment!", Mirko states with confidence.
"I and Rumi were laughing so hard at the articles the papers were writing.", Hawks says with a blissful expression of remembrance, even chuckling a bit at the memory.
Gar represses the urge to gag at the thought and after composing himself he puts it all together, saying, "So in short you wanna set this whole scheme up just for a fake love triangle, boasting rights, and shits and giggles?", even though he couldn't see, he could feel the shit-eating grins of the two adults standing above him. He huffed out a sigh and told him firmly, "If you had asked me this question five years ago, I'd have said yes. But I'm not a child any so the answer is no."
"We'll pay.", Hawks quickly interjected.
"Pay?", Gar says back.
"For the meal. If we're gonna do this, we're gonna do the full nine yards. We'll pay for the dinner and whatever you want to eat.", Mirko explains.
Gar thinks on it for a minute and thinks aloud he says, "Well I can't turn down free food, and I'm hungry, and I don't feel like cooking….", after a bit of internal conflict and hard stares with excited smiles from the two heroes, he finally submits and begrudgingly agrees, "Oh alright you win."
The two heroes then jump up and high-five each other in a mini celebration. But before their victory could last longer, Gar, who had finally gotten off the ground, cranked up his voice and firmly warned them, "But only this once, and that's it. And if either of you even thinks about kissing me, I'll punch you into the middle of next month."
"For a pretty guy like you, no promises.", Hawks said with a teasing voice while Miriko winked and stuck her tongue at him playfully.
Gar rolls his eyes at them as he brushes himself off, and in a much less firm tone, he casually warns them, "And I certainly hope you know what you're getting into. I'm a big eater, so I hope you're ready to lose your whole paycheck one day."
The two heroes say not another word except for a head nod and a thumbs up before bounding off or flying away respectfully. Once the two of them are far out of sight, Gar leans down to pick up Lechonk.
Once the pig Pokemon is snorting in his arms, he sighs to himself, and placing a hand on his face he asks himself with self-realization, "I can't believe I agreed to this."
THE NEXT DAY
"I can't believe you agreed to this.", Aizawa sighed exasperatedly as he rubbed a hand over his face.
"Are you sure your quirk isn't a past vision, cause I said the same thing yesterday.", Gar said to him as Midnight helped him get ready, only for the woman to yank on his hair a little too hard and made him cry out, "OW! Easy!"
"Sorry. I just can't believe Photo Finish agreed with this.", Midnight apologizes as she calms her nerves while making her brush strokes more gentle.
"Seriously? Of course, she would agree with it. It's a light fake publicity love scandal.", Present Mic chips in his thoughts.
"I honestly can't believe something like this will boost up my ratings.", Gar says in a confused stupor as he adjusts his bowtie.
After pulling his hand away, Aizawa takes a calming breath and inquires, "Can you just tell me why you agreed with this?"
Gar stops his self-adjustments and halts a bit in thought before half admitting, "Free food?"
"And?", Aizawa prods further.
Seeing as the hero wouldn't be satisfied with whatever half-baked explanation he had, Gar readily gave in and told him flat out, "Well I only have one more day or should I say the night before I go on my week-long excursion of public image boosting with Photo. I'd like to have a few hours to at least relax before then."
Aizawa seemed satisfied with this answer and replied in agreement, "I guess that makes sense."
As Gar was putting the last fixings on himself, the door opened and Cementoos poked his head in. Once he saw the young man in his suit and bowtie he called out, "Oh, there you are Garfield."
"Sup.", Gar greeted him while pushing Midnight away from his already perfect hair.
"Your 'dates' are here.", he informed him with physical quotation marks before sliding his head out.
With a deep breath, Gar adjusted his bowtie once more, and with his chest filled with air, he walked out toward the front of the building to meet his dates. Once he was out of earshot, Mic turned to his two friends and popped a question they were both dying to hear.
"Wanna go see the disaster show?", he asked with a smile.
"Sounds like fun.", Midnight agreed while throwing the brush aside.
Aizawa said nothing, as usual, and simply followed behind his two friends to view the 'disaster show'. Surely it couldn't be that bad…..right?
Luckily all parties involved in the 'grand unveiling' were surprised to be shocked but in a very different way. At the entrance stood Hawks and Miriko looking vastly different than they usually do. Hawks was dressed in what looked like a designer suit and tie with his wind hair slicked and styled for once. While Mirko was dressed in a red sequined cocktail dress with white fur trim on the neck and around her gloves, a pair of heels and a small hand purse completed the look. Her long hair was tied back in a bun and the weirdest of all was that she wore makeup. While Hawks held a single rose like some kind of cheesy romantic with a smoldering smile.
Instead of rolling his eyes in exasperation at his attitude, Gar could only stare with his mouth hung open and his eyes wide. The only thing to dribble out of his loose jaw was, "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh….."
"Wow.", Mic said in the background with equally shocked Aizawa and Midnight right beside.
"Are we that jaw dropping?", Mirko said in a teasing voice while brushing his chin with her fingertip.
Gar shook himself out of his stupor and explained, "I'm just…surprised is all. I didn't expect you two to clean up so….nicely."
Hawks chuckled as he placed the flower behind Gar's ear and asked, "You didn't think we came dressed as a couple of vagabonds did you?", Gar said nothing apart from puckering his lips and looking far off to the side. Hawks noticed his expression and asked, "Did you?"
Gar tenses up even more and even begins to sweat, leading Miriko to Frimley prod him with narrowing eyes, "Gar answered the question."
"Uh hey, look at the time! We should go….right now!", Gar quickly changed the subject before pushing the two of them by their backs and forcing them into the parking lot where Gar looked around for whatever vehicle they came in. But he only saw the cars the present staff owned. Gar stopped his pushing and looking at the two of them asked, "...Wait, how'd you two get here?"
Mirko thrust her thumb to her side and replied, "Hawks."
Hawks opened his wings and gave an okay symbol with his hand. Gar narrows his eye at this for a moment before furiously shaking his head at the thought and the implications of what was to come.
"You're not seriously expecting me to ride airway feather boy, are you?", he asked with the intent of refusing in his voice.
"Come on, where's your sense of adventure?", Mirko asked while playfully slapping his shoulder.
'Same place I keep my common sense and will to live.', Gar said to himself while rolling his eyes.
"I don't suppose you have a better idea?", Hawks asked with a snarky tone.
Gar smiled wryly at the question and replied, "As a matter of fact, I do."
Within a second Gar grabbed a Pokeball off his belt and threw it out. It burst open and out of a Moltres. However, this one was much different than the one that the two heroes had seen before. It was bigger, much much bigger than before! It was at least big, if not bigger, than a Corviknight.
Both heroes' eyes widened at the sight of the bird and Miriko loudly complained about their ride, exclaiming, "You don't expect us to ride this thing, do you?! My dress will get burnt!"
"Where is your sense of adventure?", Gar mockingly asked back.
Mirko rolls her eyes and sarcastically says back, "Ha ha ha, you're so funny."
"But don't stress, Moltres is a Fire Elemental, he can control his flames into a cold fire.", Gar explained to put their minds at ease.
"If you say so…..don't you have anything else?", Mirko asked hopefully, having second thoughts and looking a tad bit unsure and nervous.
Gar placed a hand to his chin and listed off their other option, telling them, "Well I have the giant sky god, one of two gods that embody the conflicting ideals of human thought. Oh, and the chaotic deities of time and space."
Hawks and Miriko both blinked at him, before looking at each other and seemingly having a silent conversation. They turn back to Gar where Mirko says, "Flaming chicken it is."
LATER AT THE RESTAURANT
After a short flight on the back of the legendary bird that even made the bright night city lights look dim from its wing flapping. They made it to the site of the restaurant that Mirko and Hawks choose for their 'date'. They hadn't even landed for less than two seconds when dozens of capitalizing started to swarm them and they had to make a mad dash for the dining hall! Once inside, the staff thankfully blocked and locked the doors behind the many flashing lights and shouting voices. Then they were seated at a spot at a window seat where the window was tinted so the flashes of the cameras couldn't bother them. From there, it was meal time.
"I gotta hand it to you guys when you pick em, you pick' em good. This place is gorgeous.", Gar complimented the two heroes as he admired the atmosphere.
"So much surprise for us. Do you think so little of us?", Hawks asked in a teasing tone.
"Well considering what I do know from how you two act…..you can't blame me.", Gar tried to lay his truthful thoughts on them in a kind way.
However, his efforts were in vain as Miriko still narrowed her eyes angrily at him, making the young man shiver.
Hawks knock her expression off with a playful side jab as he says, "Oh come to one Rumi, don't give that look. You know he's right."
"That's exactly why I'm making this face.", Mirko reiterates firmly.
"Speaking of faces, what's with yours?", Hawks quickly changes the subject while motioning to Gar's expression.
"Come to think of it, you have looked high-strung since we got here. Is it the food or booze?", Mirko asked him.
With a glass of wine just about to touch his lips, he shakes his free hand and exclaims with a slight panic in his tone, as if not to sound ungrateful, "What? No no no, everything is awesome! It's just….them."
Gar points out to the window they were seated at and both adults look out to see a swarm of people practically pressed against the window. Having not realized how close, how many, and how long they were there, both Mirko and Hawks nearly jumped out of their seats! The window was dark enough to swamp out the bright flashes of the cameras and was reinforced to be soundproof, so even though they were probably shouting, nothing could be heard. Even so, it was still like being on the opposite end of a horror film where the monster is just outside and quietly waiting.
Regaining her composure, Mirko told him, "Just ignore them. Remember, it's all for the act."
Gar rolls his eyes while swallowing down the last of his food and shoots back, "Easy for you to say. The camera may love me, but the feeling isn't mutual."
"You're such a big deal in your world, you're like a super celebrity, right? So what's so different about the press from here and there, aren't you used to it?", Hawks ask him.
Gar sulks for a minute in his seat and explains, "I'm usually a loner….most of the time. Sure I appear in public and stuff, but that's for small things or events or to hold my title as champion. Which is all that Champion is, just a title. There's not much else to it.", he sighs sadly and then tells them while looking away with a dejected tone, "I'm always on the travel routes and exploring….alone."
There was….silence between the three of them. An uncomfortable silence hung in the air. Gar didn't look at his 'dates' while the two of them looked between him, each other, and their drinks. However, Mirko and Hawks were not the ones who were uncomfortable, just unsure how to continue things from here.
"You know, when I was a kid, I used to be by myself a lot. Screwed with my head and I got into some deep shit when I grew up. It took someone kicking my ass and then trying to actually help me and be there for me to realize that….I was an idiot.", Mirko told him while taking a sip from her cup, then continued saying, "Sure, I still think working solo is the best way to show off your strength….but I'm never against a helping hand when it's offered."
Hawks dryly chuckled and admitted, "I was also on my own as a kid. Then I wasn't, but I was with people who didn't want to be around me or just didn't care about me. Once I got out and started my agency, I filled it with as many sidekicks as I could. And I've never felt alone since."
A small smile edged onto Gar's face at this sentiment. He chuckled out a huff and turned his eyes back up to the two of them, his posture becoming straight, and his body releasing its tension. He stared at the two, a sad smile adorning his face as he said in a somewhat shocked voice, "Well I'm glad that I have a few people to relate to, and maybe vent to when the time comes?", the two of them looked at one another before turning back to him and giving him a confirming smile. Gar smiles a bit brighter at the two of them, happy tears welling up in his eyes as he says, "Here's to having frishlished starts in life."
"And to it not being so fucked u anymore.", Mirko added.
"And to never be alone again.", Hawks included.
And all of them clicked their glasses before downing the whole thing in one go. As their little interaction ended, a waiter came up with a cart full of different meals and said, "Here is your food sir."
Mirko and Hawks both watched in shock as all the food was placed on the table Gar hungrily licked his lips while the other empty plates were taken away. Hawks looked around at the refilled table and exclaimed, "Seriously? This is like your third order, and you're still not full!?"
"Where the heck do you put it all?", Mirko asked with equal parts intrigue and disgust.
Gar chuckled while cutting up a lump of meat whatever and joked, "Only the people I've slept with know that."
"Are you saying there's a chance?", Hawks asked intrigued while wiggling his eyebrows.
Gar, whose mouth was already full, nearly choked as he pointed his fork at Hawks and told him firmly, "Not in all the Distortion World."
A FEW HOURS LATER
Gar walked out of the restaurant, his stomach full after so much food. He rubbed his stomach and berated out a sigh of relief as he exclaimed, "AHHHH! That was so good!"
This was soon followed by a very sad and disgruntled Hawks and Mirko who carried their now much lighter wallets with tears in their eyes.
"I can't believe you had five helpings. Five!", Mirko partially yelled while angrily grabbing her purse while angry tears streamed down her face.
"My poor wallet.", Hawks cried while looking weak and beaten.
"I warned you guys.", Gar shrugged while reminding them, only to nearly get blinded by more camera flashes and acknowledging the paparitizes presence, he grumbled out, "Oh yeah, they're still here."
Gar sighed agitated at this while Miriko slapped him playfully on the chest and reiterated, "It's all part of the act, just remember."
"Yeah, the act.", Gar sighed while closing his eyes, only to feel two people inner lock their arms on his own. He opened his eyes and saw it was his two dates. Looking at them skeptically he asked, "Uhhhhhhh, what are you two doing?"
"It's part of the act.", Hawks told him in a sing-song tone.
Gar sweat dropped at this and both their bedroom eye expressions, stating, "Yeah well just so you know, if you exceed the act I'll whoop you both into the middle of next month.", though this didn't last a minute as both Mirko and Hawks kissed Gar on either side of his cheeks! Going flush from embarrassment and anger, he jumped back and shouted while covering his face, "What did I just say!"
"All a part of the aaaaaaaaaact.", Mirko sang in the same tone as Hawks.
"Well the next part is where you both have 10 seconds to run.", Gar growled at the two of them while raising an embarrassed fist with his red face.
The two of them looked at one another, taking it as a challenge, and Hawks blurted out, "10-second speed run, kissing edition!"
"You're on!", Mirko accepted eagerly, as the both of them both eyed up Gar like two lions on a gazelle.
Gar held out both his hands trying to stop either one of them and proclaimed, "Heliolisk no!"
Though the paparazzi sure seem to like this as the flashing of cameras only seems to increase in intensity! However, this was quickly ended by the booming and exploding sound of thunder and lightning only a few yards behind the trio! The nearby strike of electricity made all the reporters and paparazzi jump before scattering away like a bunch of cockroaches! Even the three heroes all jumped into one another at the suddenness of the explosion!
Once things seemed to calm down, Mirko asked no one, "What in the world!?"
"I thought it was going to be clear tonight?", Hawks looked up at the sky.
Gar also looked up and around before his gaze locked into something and he said, "I don't think that was normal lightning."
"How'd you figure?", Mirko asks him.
Before he could answer that, a loud noise that sounded familiar to the roar of thunder boomers over a nearby building, "ROAR!"
Gar pointed over to the thing on top of the building and stated, "That's how."
On top of the nearby building was a very large quadrupedal, yellow, tiger-like Pokémon with black stripes and a white underside. It has a thin, light blue tail with sharp angles and a spark-shaped formation at the end. Most of its face consists of thick, white fur and shorter yellow fur around its red eyes. Its muzzle is a light blue "X" and it has a black faceplate with two bumps that cover its forehead, nose, and ears. It has two long fangs that make its appearance similar to the saber-toothed cat. Its large claws each converge to form a single point and never retract. Extra fur hangs off its body in front of its thighs. It has a mane across its back that resembles dull purple rain clouds.
Pointing up at the Pokemon, Miriko exclaimed, "What is that?!"
Rotom quickly pops up from Gar's coat and flickers open the Pokedex to the Pokemon in question. It read the entry aloud, saying, "Raikou, the Thunder Pokemon, dex #243. An Electric type and a Legendary Pokemon! Raikou embodies the speed of lightning. The roars of this Pokémon send shock waves shuddering through the air and shaking the ground as if lightning bolts had come crashing down. It is said to have fallen with lightning. It can fire thunderbolts from the rain clouds on its back."
Raikou roared again as its mane sparked and lightning fell from the clouds above, striking random places and causing people to flee in panic! Cars crashed as the street lights went crazy, and sidewalk lights and neon boards flickered or popped before breaking! Car alarms went off as the air crackled with energy! Even the three heroes had to dodge out of the way from stray bolts of lightning!
As the three of them took shelter under the restaurant's awning, Hawks commented, "That is so metal."
Mirko ear's stood up as she realized something and asked, "Wait, your phone called it a Legendary, right? Aren't those like the Gods of your world?"
"Uh-huh.", Gar wordlessly answered, his eyes locked on the rampaging Pokemon.
"Well, what's this god's problem?! Why is it attacking?!", she asked in demand as a bolt of lightning struck the restaurant!
"Well first off I'm still wondering how Bayo managed to drag one of the Legendary Beast Pokemon here!", Gar shouted over the booming thunder, before following with, "And second, I'm wondering the same thing. Raikou may not like humans, but they're not malicious! They go out of their way to avoid humans! Something is wrong."
Just as he says this, another bolt of lightning careens down towards the restaurant's awning! The three of them make a mad dash and just manage to escape before the entire front is blown to pieces! Once they're back on their feet Hawks removes his overcoat and pulls his goggles from his pocket while Miriko rips the bottom of her dress just short enough for her to move more freely, and Gar also removes his overcoat while grabbing out a Pokéball.
"So what's the plan to stop it?", Mirko asks while kicking off her heels and stretching her legs.
"First we have to get it on the ground. The higher that Raikou is from sea level, the greater its control over lightning.", Gar said while looking around at the area the legendary Pokémon was in.
"Ok, then what? How do we stop a bolt of lightning?", Hawks asks while tightening his goggles.
Gar affixes his headband around his forehead and says with full assuredness, "Simple."
Though before he could finish, another stray bolt of lightning shoots down at them, and the heroes are not ready the first two times! This time it looked like it was going to hit them! Hawks tried to grab Miriko while Mirko tried to grab Gar, but Gar stood firm where he was!
The lightning struck the spot where the three people were and exploded into a huge cloud of dust and electricity! Though when the smoke cleared the three of them were not charred and smoking as intended. Instead, they were all one piece and ended in perfect health. Hawks and Mirko, who had closed their eyes at the last moment preparing themselves for the seemingly inevitable, were greatly surprised by what happened and what they saw!
Looming over them with its back turned in their defense was a new Pokemon that had taken the full brunt of the lighting and didn't even appear even a little scorched! It didn't even look like it flinched. The new Pokemon was
composed of a giant chain of gray boulders that become smaller towards the tail. Its length makes it the tallest Rock-type Pokémon. It has black eyes and a rounded snout. On top of its head is a rocky spine. All in all, making it look like a giant rock snake.
Garth smiled cheekily at the two heroes' shocked and awestruck expressions as he finished up saying with a smug and smart tone, "We ground it."
With that, the three of them were off towards the Pokemon! Gar started by hopping onto Onix's head and telling the Rock snake to use Rock Throw. Onix dug its tail into the earth and hauled up a huge chunk of the concrete before lobbing it towards the Raikou! However, the legendary saw this just in time to duck down low enough for it to fly over its head! It stood up and roared angrily as it shot a bolt of lightning at its opponent! But Onix blocked the attack with its tail!
This gave Hawks, who had flown to the Pokémon's side, enough time to launch several sharp feathers at the monster! The feathers embedded themself in its flesh and it cried out in pain! Hawks flew by, his wings grazing its face, and causing the Pokemon to become temporarily stunted, giving Mirko a chance to come from below and knock it in its chin! Raikou was nearly knocked to its back but managed to recover enough to counter.
From here it tried to shoot its lighting but was hit directly with another rock throw that sent it to the edge of the rooftop! Raikou saw that it was outmatched right here and saw a much taller building not too far away, one that was under demolition, but it didn't know that. So it jumped with a mighty leap, lighting arcing off its body as it nearly soared through the air and landed on the decaying building's side. From there it dug its claws and barreled to the roof where it stood up overlooking the city!
It looked down and saw the three heroes and the Pokemon. It pulled its head towards the sky and roared once again! Sending huge streams of lighting down upon them and all else in the way! The heroes all did their best to dodge the attacks that seemed to move with their intent, but eventually, they all had to take shelter behind Onix until the lighting died down! The lightning moved and arched and curved around like living snakes searching out their prey, but eventually having to connect to something that wasn't! Raikou finally brought its head back down from the sky and became flabbergasted in frozen shock as he saw Hawks carrying Miriko by her arms and up towards the Pokemon!
Luckily the Legendary was on high alert now and jumped back and away from the devastating kick that was about to be delivered to its face! Hawks flew up with his rabbit teammate and once high enough, he threw her with all his might and she rocketed towards the Pokemon with a fist at the ready! Raikou saw this a mile away and was about to send another blast of electricity, but saw several of Hawks feathers all careening towards him! Having two different choices on its paws it froze up from the shock and confusion, but it was too late to react. Both attacks impact the Pokemon and once it threw off the feathers and rabbit woman, it roared angrily as it tried to counter! But Mirko and Hawks were fast and persistent!
They both continued an onslaught of attacks as another plan was moving in progress right under the legendary feet! Mirko would kick Raikou at a random spot and bound away before she could be swiped at! As Raikou put his attention on her, he was attacked from another side by sharpened feathers! Hawks would fly past, slapping it with their wings, and would fly off! Only for Raikou to try and attack him and get pounded by another punch or kick from Mirko! Rinse and repeat.
While this was happening, the two heroes were also making the ground around the Pokemon very unstable! When Mirko distracted Raikou, Hawks would impale his feathers into the structure and cause cracks. When Hawks was the distraction, Mirko would kick the floor with all her might to make the cracks bigger. As this was going down they were systematically herding the Pokemon towards the roof's edge, giving it little space to react or move! Finally, Raikou had enough and it emitted energy from around its body in a protective sphere, keeping both of them at bay and giving it room to breathe!
However, this is exactly what they wanted. The output of energy caused the whole structure to take even more damage, giving them the opportunity they needed. They both shouted the code word and from below, Gar, still on Onix, told the Pokemon to use earthquake! It didn't take but a few hard shakes from the building to finally give out and Raikou was left falling with no footing to bounce off of! Hawks grabbed Miriko and flew off with her from the falling debris.
Even though Raikou could and has fallen from heights that fell taller than this, this cat did not land on his feet. As it arched its body to land as perfectly as it always does from its far descent, Onix jumped into the air, meeting it halfway, and coiled itself around the legendary body, before using the momentum to slam it hard against the ground! Raikou landed on the ground with a KABOOM loud enough to rival its thunderclaps! As the dust and chunks of concrete settled, there was Raikou who was desperately trying to regain its footing. But before it could, Onix was upon it and coiled its body around the Legendary Beast and bound it there, completely unable to move!
As Gar walked off his Pokémon's back, Mirko landed with Hawks and all three of them looked on in shock and disbelief at their accomplishment. There was a time of silent contemplation before Gar excitedly exclaimed, "We got it!"
"Yes!", Hawks cheered, followed by the loud and thankful cheering of the many civilians around.
Mirko boldly approached the trapped Pokemon but jumped back after it released lightning all around itself with a mighty roar!
"Woah!", she jumped back with seen at the ready, looking up at Onix still holding it in place, before asking, "Are you sure your rock snake can hold it?"
Gar nods and assures her, "Raikou can discharge all it likes, but Onix isn't going to flinch. That's the beauty of a Rock and Ground type."
Mirko nods in affirmation before looking back at the Pokemon and cracking her fingers while saying, "Well now that we got it, let's see what thunder cat here is so agitated about."
Gar nods and says aloud, "Rotom. Commune with Raikou, see what's making it so mad."
Rotom pops out of the young man's pocket and says with a nervous sound in his voice, "I'll try my best. Buzzt."
Rotom floated over to the captured Legendary and started to send out small bits of electricity at it with Raikou doing the same thing. Mirko and Hawks were equal parts confused and worried by this and Hawks voiced his confusion, asking, "Is Rotom…zapping it?"
"No, that's just how certain Electric types communicate. Like electric frequencies over the radio.", Gar explained.
Rotom continued this back and forth for a few seconds before returning to Gar who asked, "Well?"
"It's just….screaming. Buzzt.", Rotom informed him.
"Screaming?", Hawks inquired.
"Yeah. Ow ow ow ow ow ow. Aaaaaaaahhhhh. Like it's in pain. Buzzt.", Rotom described to them making the best animalistic noises it could muster.
"It is in….pain?!", Gar asks with a nervous and worried tone.
"This thing is a literal god! What could hurt it?", Mirko exclaims.
"I do have one idea. Good thing I brought these.", Gar says as he reaches into his pants and pulls out two rubber dishwashing gloves.
"Rubber gloves?", Mirko says while looking at him weirdly.
"Prevents unnecessary electrical discharges from Electric-type Pokemon. Never leave home without them.", he explained while pulling them over his hands and flexing his fingers.
Gar then approached the huge Beast and without any hesitation or fear dove his hand straight into the electrically charged fur of the Pokemon, causing both Mirko and Hawks to cringe away as it roared and discharged once more.
After a few seconds of searching, Gar finally exclaimed aloud, "AH HA! Just as I thought.", everyone partially inched closer to see his discovery as he held up a small yellow Pokemon from Riakou's fur that resembled a cross of a tick and a spider. "This Raikou has been infested with Joltik.", he exclaimed like a detective solving a case.
Joltik is a tiny arachnid Pokémon. It has four legs tipped with blue, conical feet. Its ovoid body is completely covered in yellow fur, with notable tufts sticking out on each side of its face, just over each eye, and its lower back. Joltik has four blue eyes. The two larger eyes are set relatively far apart on its face, containing black pupils. The two smaller simple eyes are situated between the first pair, slightly higher up on its face. Joltik's mandibles point downward and reside at the bottom of its face, where they closely resemble tufts of hair.
"Joltik?", Hawks asks.
"Electrical parasites. They hang out in electrically charged caves or on bigger electric types. But these Joltik aren't feeding off Raikou, they're just biting it and in certain nerve clusters.", Gar explains while pulling back the Pokemon's fur and showing the infestation of smaller Pokemon crawling around and biting its skin.
"But why would they do that?", Hawks follow up.
Gar seemed at a loss for an answer until he realized something and a dark look spread across his face, replying in a low tone, "Dark Ball."
"What?", Mirko asked, not catching it the first time.
"Dark ball. These Joltik are under the influence of the Dark Ball.", Gar repeated himself, a bit louder this time.
"You mean that thing that summoned that crazy Tyranitar we all faced a few weeks back?", Hawks asks him, to which he nods.
"Shit.", Mirko says aloud what they're all thinking.
"Team Freak is behind this.", Gar affirms.
"What even is their plan at this point?", Mirko groans in exasperation while throwing her arms into the air.
"Well figure that later, for now, we have to help Raikou.", Gar tells them in a firm yet serious tone.
"As much as I'm up for helping poor dumb animals, how do we do that?", Mirko addresses the Copperajah in the room.
"Quite simple really. We just grab, twist, and….", Gar explains while doing the motions before swiftly yet smoothly pulling off the small Pokemon, and saying, "Ta-da.", while holding the small Pokemon in his opposite hand.
A small round of applause emerged from both heroes and the nearby civilians. But Gar dissuaded them as he told them firmly, "Don't celebrate too soon, there are dozens of these things on him, and if I let them go, they'll just jump right back on."
"So how do we contain a living battery?", Hawks asked him as the two Pokemon tried to escape from the young man's grasp.
"Joltik can cling to any surface except for a few. One of them being glass. I need something big and made from glass!", he told them as his grip started to slip from their wriggling.
Mirko saw this and turning to the growing crowd she yelled, "HEY! YOU ALL HEARD HIM! GET SOMETHING MADE OF GLASS TO HOLD THESE THINGS!"
A few people dispersed from the crowd and ran off to find something. As the few people hurriedly scampered off, Hawks went to Gar and asked in an offer of alternatives, "Why can't we just squish them?"
"It's not their fault. It's the Dark Ball's influence.", Gar told him with sympathy in his tone.
Soon after, one of the civilians came by with a large glass jug and placed it by Gar's feet. He then took the two Joltik in hand and squeezed them into the small opening. It took a bit, but then both popped right in and fell to the bottom. The two of them attempted to escape but only managed to claw at the glass walls. They even tried to jump out but weren't able to fit themselves through the small opening and ended up falling back down into the jug.
Upon seeing this, Gar set off to remove each last Joltik off of Raikou. He kept doing as he did before, grabbing, twisting, and pulling off swiftly before stuffing them into the glass jug. One by one he grabbed each one off the still squirming and roaring legendary Pokémon. It tried to send off shockwaves and electric bolts, but every time they were dispersed either by the rubber gloves or Onix who had grounded the tip of its tail into the Earth. The entire ordeal took around 30 minutes and then another 10 minutes for Gar to thoroughly inspect the beast Pokémon and make sure that no other Joeltick were on it. All in all, over six dozen of the little electric spiders were removed from the legendary beast's coat.
Gar did one more time around the Pokémon's body and wiping sweat off his forehead he affirmed, "Okay, I think that's the last of them."
Upon saying this, all eyes fell on Raikou who was now slumped limply in Onix's coils and breathing exhausted breaths.
"Wow. Raikou sure looks beat.", Mirko observed.
"But hey, he isn't roaring like crazy or trying to zap us.", Hawks put a positive spin on it.
Gar sighed with relief once more before looking at his Pokémon and telling him, "It's okay Onix, you can let him go."
Even Onix hesitated at first as Mirko and Hawks shouted, "What?! Are you sure that's okay?!"
Gar pushed them back while holding up his hands in defense and assured them in a soft tone saying, "It's fine, trust me."
The two of them didn't look fully convinced but they regrettably accepted. Gar looked at Onix and gave him a nod letting the Pokémon know to uncoil. When a large rock snake released its prey from its grasp Raikou simply flopped to the ground and laid there in an exhausted heap for several seconds.
"Well it's not attacking.", Hawks looked at the bright side.
"Shush!", Gar silenced him.
After a few minutes, Raikou finally brought himself to his feet and shook himself off like a dog after a bath. It's scratched itself a few times for setting its eyes upon the three heroes standing in front of it. It did nothing except standing there completely silent and completely still walking eyes with all three of them at the same time. After a very long and intense staring contest, Raikou dipped its head in a low and respectful bow.
"What's it doing?", Hawks whispered to Gar.
"He's thanking us.", he whispered back.
When Raikou brought up his cold expression to stare back into the three people's souls, Mirko's sweat dropped, and said, "Uh, no problem, your godship."
"Sooooooooooo now what?", Hawks asked while trying to break the ice.
"Don't worry, I know exactly what to do.", Gar said with full confidence as he approached the now curious legend. He took a deep breath before saying, "Raikou, I know you've been through a lot already. You're scared and stressed and confused in this new place. But I can help you. The people who brought you here and caused you so much pain will try to do it again if you simply leave. So I ask you.", he begged while holding out an Ultra Ball. in his palm. "Come with me so I can protect you."
There was a hard silence between all parties as Raikou looked between Gar and the Ultra ball. That is until Miriko broke the tense moment by blabbering out, "Are you asking a god to become your slave?"
Gar them swiftly elbowed one of her breasts and scolded her, telling her off, "It's not slavery. Quit calling it that!"
Not at all turned away by the sudden scene and change of pitch in their voices, Raikou pressed its nose against the ball and it immediately turned into red energy where it was absorbed into the device. The Pokèball shook a few times before clicking and emitting sparks.
"Wow…it's that easy?", Hawks asked, flabbergasted.
Gar chuckled at this, quickly turning it dry and full of misery as he told him, "Not really. The first Raikou I caught ran away from me…..a lot."
Before their somewhat easygoing conversation could go any further, a voice from a nearby rooftop shouted, "NO!", all eyes turned to the sound of the voice, and there stood a person wearing an outfit inspired by Purrloin with a bright purple F on the front, a Team Freak Grunt. The person stamped their feet and shouted in frustration, "You pesky little Ratata! You've ruined Boss Bayo's perfect plan."
After the initial shock passed, Gar put on a face and expression of bravado while sauntering closer and saying smugly, "Yeah, well, it's kinda my thing."
"You won't get away with this!", the grunt shouted in a promised challenge while pointing their finger threateningly at them.
"I already have. And besides.", Gar stated flatly with a puff of proud air before taking the same Ultra ball out and throwing it down. "I have someone here who wants to file a complaint with your….services.", he stated ominously as Raikou emerged from the device, furious looking as he did just minutes prior.
The grunt gave a sharp gasp at the sight of the legendary Pokémon and attempted to flee, but it was in vain.
"ROAR!", Raikou bellowed out as a bolt of lightning directly struck the grunt, causing them to fall to the ground.
Raikou smiles at his work as Miriko casually approaches with an impressed whistle and playful slapping the beast's shoulder she compliments, "Nice shot, big guy."
To which the Pokemon returned the favor by playfully bumping her back with its thigh. Unfortunately, this led to the much smaller woman being knocked off her feet by the much stronger creature.
From here the three heroes and two Pokemon briskly moved to the top of the building and stood before the charred and smoking grunt, looming over them. When it was certain that they were down for the counts, Gar cracks his neck and shoulders to relieve his stress.
With one final sigh, he said, "Alright, let's grab him and bring him in for interrogation."
Just before they could bound up the creten, they suddenly stirred awake and began to maniacally laugh! The suddenness of the laugh took everyone off guard and they all froze up at first from it! Even the stoic legend was unnerved!
Eventually, they managed to regain their bearings and Gar exclaimed in irritation, "What is so funny? It's the end of the line. You've failed!"
The grunt shifted their laughter to a more even chuckle as they turned their head and glared up at Gar, saying to him in a vexing yet victorious tone, "Failed? The end? No no no, it's you that has failed! And what do you mean by the end? This is only the beginning!"
"Beginning of what? The ass-kicking was gonna give you.", Mirko asks rhetorically while cracking her knuckles.
Then their question was answered as two huge explosions rang out on the far sides of the city accompanied by the panic screams of more civilians and the city nightlife going into chaos.
"What was that?", Hawks asked with an expression crossed between shock, anxiety, and confusion.
After the explosion and screams died down a bit, all heads turned around at the city to see streams of fire and water racing down, around, and through different streets of the city below. Closely followed by the bellowing barks and roars of two very different sounding creatures. As they all stood there, their faces agape in shock, they saw how some of the fire started to look like lava and some of the water began to freeze into ice structures.
"Gar.", Hawks called for his attention, without taking his eyes off the scene.
"Yeah?", Gar replies, while also not taking off his eyes.
"By any chance is Raikou a part of a trio?", he inquires.
"Yeah.", Gar admitted with an anxious tone.
As they all stared out, Raikou remembered their little prisoner. It turned around only to see the charred spot empty. It roared to get the other's attention and when they did, they too were also shocked by the grunts' disappearance.
"He's gone!", Mirko shouted in furious exasperation.
"Team Freak Grunts are always slippery.", Gar grunted out in annoyance.
Then their attention was turned back to the scene they witnessed before as a huge column of flames burst high into the air, lighting up the night sky!
Mirko then looked at Gar and asked him flat out, "Okay, what the hell are those!?"
"That would be the elemental counterparts and sister extensions of Raikou. Entei and Suicune.", Gar answered while sweat dropping.
Rotom popped out of Gar's pants once more, pulled up both Pokemon on his screen, and read it aloud, saying, "Entei, the Volcano Pokemon, dex #244. A Fire-type and a Legendary Pokemon! And Suicune, the Aurora Pokemon, dex #245. A Water-type and a Legendary Pokemon!"
Mirko then grabbed the phone and angrily threw it out, yelling, "WE DON'T NEED FREAKING EXPOSITION RIGHT NOW!"
Once Rotom flew out a few yards, he regained control of his flight and raced back into Gar's pants.
"They also must be infested with Dark Joltik!", Gar theorized.
"Huh? But I thought those little guys were only Electric type.", Hawks remembered his trivia and saw the cracks in his statement.
Gar saws nothing except looks far off to the side while puckering his lips and twiddling his fingers with a cold sweat. Mirko sees this and in an aggravated tone asks, "Oh don't tell me! There just so happen to be two subspecies of Joltik that just so happen to be Fire and Water, right?!"
"They come from the region I met Bayo and Team Freak in.", Gar admitted after a few seconds of dead-end started from the rabbit woman.
"Unbelievable!", she yells while throwing her arms into the air.
Seeing as things were going nowhere with them right now, Hawks got the ball rolling by flopping his arm around Gar's shoulder and asking, "So what is the plan, Pokemon Hero Trainer?"
Although he wasn't happy about his new nickname catching on, he ignored it for now and quickly strategized before saying, "Okay, I and Raikou will handle Suicune. The rules for Unovian Joltik apply to the Mosklovian Joltik.", he climbs onto Raikou and points at the rest, telling them, "Hawk, Mirko, and Onix. You three go after Entei. Whatever you do, Don't let it bark! If it does, a volcano will erupt!"
"What!?", they both exclaim in unison before heading off.
"Why didn't you say that before?!", Mirko exclaims, annoyed at the lack of detail.
This was when Rotom found his nerves and shot from Gar's pocket, into the woman's face and exclaimed angrily, "I was trying to tell you that until you stopped me! Buzzt."
"Oh.", she replied in a dejected tone of shame and embarrassment.
Gar sighs exasperatedly before Frimley tells them seriously, "No time for self-shame and hindsight! We have to move before the city is charred, melted, flooded, and frozen!"
Hawks then dawned his goggles over his eyes once more before giving Gar a thumbs up and saying, "You got it!", to which he took off towards the Legendary Beats of fire.
Mirko jumps onto Onix's head, grabbing his cranial rock and commanding, "Giddy up Rock Snakey!", to which the long Pokemon slithered off the building in hot pursuit of the flying hero.
Gar then trunks Raikou towards where the Legendary Beat of Water was rampaging and gives a hefty sigh of stress and tiredness. Once he sucks back in the air, he opens his previously closed eyes and says to no one but himself, "This is going to be a long night."
