I started the new day with my 'happy day outfit'.

As I came into the console room, a smile was already on my lips as I looked down at my star stitched jeans, glow-in-the-dark galaxy jacket and my shirt with 'live long and prosper' in golden print.

Today was going to be a good day.

I fell as the whole TARDIS rocked to the side before shaking and rocking to the other.

The ship was careening after something at top speed.

"What's the emergency?"

"It's a mauve."

"Oh that bad then."

When I had breakfast this morning in the library observatory the TARDIS had kindly supplied me with some interesting guides to the universe.

I had only perused a couple but I remembered 'mauve' was bad, worse than Earthlings 'red alerts'.

I held onto the bars surrounding the centre and pulled myself towards the Doctor. When I made it to his side he pointed to a screen showing a cylinder-like thing hurtling through space.

"We are locked on now, wherever it goes we go."

"Is that safe?"

"Totally!" The Doctor flipped a switch only for the TARDIS to retaliate with sparks. "Ok, reasonably; should have said reasonably."

I looked at the screen, "An emergency pod of some sort?"

"No idea!" The Doctor continued to turn dials and move down levers.

"Alright then; its mauve and we're chasing it."

"Pretty much." The Doctor cranked a lever beneath the switchboard. "No! It's jumping the time stream." His eyes widened, "It's 30 seconds from the centre of London!"

A door in my mind whispered, 'Be ready.'

When we landed we were in an alley.

"So how much earlier did it arrive?"

The Doctor raised an eyebrow.

"What you said it jumped the time stream which means it could have arrived long before us, right?"

"Not that long, only a month."

"What's the plan then? Can the TARDIS scan for alien tech?"

The Doctor shrugged, "I'm going to ask someone, it must have made a big bang, hard to miss."

He gestured with his psychic paper but all I saw were the golden symbols I'd seen before.

As if thinking I was disappointed he gestured to my shirt, "Might not be Spock enough for you, but it works for me."

The Doctor started picking a lock with his sonic, while I got distracted when a sound from the alley drew me towards it.

"Mommy? Mommy?"

Shivers ran down my spine as I looked up to see a kid with a gas mask.

'Follow' the door whispered.

I went down the alleyway and up an apartment's staircase then up a ladder.

When I reached the top of the apartment building, the kid was still found higher.

The night made it hard to see but I found a rope that dropped near the kid. I pulled my jacket's sleeves down hoping it would protect my palms from rope burn before climbing the rope.

I neared the boy as I climbed up the rope.

"Hello, I don't think your mum is up here." I tried to swing the rope closer using my momentum.

The boy pointed up, "Look Mummy a balloon!"

I looked up and found I had stupidly grabbed a hold of a small blimps rope that was now carrying me off.

I looked at the boy who I was moving farther from at each moment.

"I'll try to find you, ok?"

"Mummy?"

He was cute but kinda in a creepy way.

Gas mask? Why was that bothering me?

I tried to squint to look back at his clothes but I was already brought higher and out of sight.

Sirens sounded out in the night air.

I looked around over the dark cityscape.

The sounds of engines nearing had me looking up to see what looked like dozens of aeroplanes coming my way.

I tried to get some of the lower rope wrapped around my leg so I would be less likely to fall, at least that's what I thought.

"Oh sh..." Zeppelins, gas masks, aeroplanes. "Oh, no." I looked down at my glow-in-the-dark outfit. "Of all the days but a good day."

Aeroplanes zoomed past and I narrowed my gaze at one horrible symbol on one my teeth clenched tight.

I hugged the rope to my body worried about the attention I was going to draw.

An explosion from my right made me jump and my grip lessened enough that I came down to the end of the rope.

"No, no, no...not like this."

'Let go' the door whispered.

"Like hell I will."

Gunfire from above hit the balloon swinging me, my grip was lost.

I screamed as I fell only to be caught in a beam of light.

I blinked and looked around at the tractor beam that caught me.

A man's voice called out to me, "Ok, ok, I've got you. Just programming your descent pattern."

I tucked my limbs in, not wanting to lose any.

"Stay as still as you can. If you have a cell phone, shut it off."

This had to be one of my weirdest days since I started travelling with the Doctor.

With as little movement as possible, I took my cell from my zipper pocket and shut it off before slipping it back and tucking my body tightly in.

"All ready, hold tight."

I wrapped my arms around myself and took a deep breath.

Then it was like a slide hundreds of times faster than any I had been on as a child.

I slid right into the arms of a firm chested, blonde, blue eyed man.

"Hi"

"Hello there."

An irritatingly high pitch giggle escaped me as the adrenaline wore off.

"Are you alright there?"

"Just a little woozy."

'Jack' huh that name seemed to fit him well. He placed me on a cot.

"I really need to stop passing out when I..."

Then the lights were out for me.

When I woke up I found myself in a one room space shuttle. "Cyberpunk."

A chuckle answered me and I turned to look at the man in the ship's pilot seat.

Strong jaw line, flirtatious eyebrows and suave haircut; oh yes he was going to be trouble.

"You wouldn't happen to know Jack?"

He pulled out a business card and handed it to me. Only for me to look down and find psychic paper this time with similar symbols as usual but in glowing blue instead of gold.

"Captain Jack Harkness." He rattled something off while gesturing to the paper.

I laughed and shook my head, "At least some of that was a lie but what part is the question."

"Ah..." He took back the paper.

"Can't fool me with psychic paper I'm afraid."

He looked down at the paper only for his brow to crinkle, "Haven't seen it do this before."

"Can't read it?"

He looked at me.

I gave a self-deprecating smile, "Let's get along without it, shall we? I'm Marion, by the way."

"So what's a Trekkie doing in a place like this?"

"Oh a fan as well."

"I've been to 21st, great cocktails."

I looked around the ship, "Tight quarters."

"Don't usually have such lovely company."

He was quite the flirt this one, my hands brushed against my jeans and I winced.

"Rope burn?"

I looked down to see my hands red, chapped and scrapes littered them here and there.

"Can I have a look at your hands for a moment?"

I eyed him cautiously.

"Please."

I placed my hands in his and he took out a sonic flashlight device from his console and examined my hands with it.

"Enough evading, I know exactly who you are."

I hummed in response to get him to continue talking.

"A time agent. I've been expecting one of you to come for a while."

He took a scarf out and put it around my wrists but I quickly took my hands back.

"I don't like being bound. I'll stay still if you need me to, but don't try that again."

He must have seen some of the panic in my eyes because Captain Jack's expression got just a tad solemn.

"Please stay still."

I gave a small nod but didn't move any further.

He flipped a switch behind me and a ball of light clouded around my hands.

"Be careful, it might tickle."

I tensed but didn't flinch as the little balls of light, 'nanogenes' as Jack explained, healed my burns until there was no evidence of my trip on the barrage balloon.

My mouth was open in silent wonder.

His debonair smile was back, "Now let's get back to business. Want a drink on my balcony? Bring the glasses."

I curiously followed after him as the roof opened up.

I looked around to find a huge landmark standing tall beside us.

"You are tethered to Big Ben."

The wide face of the clock almost seemed to smile at me.

"First role of combat, park somewhere you'll remember."

We drank champagne, sitting upon the camouflage ship.

"Well if we aren't going to talk, I should go."

The captain stood alongside me, clicking a button and the ship went visible.

"Is that safe?" I felt as if I was repeating myself, this time to a different pilot.

Captain Jack neared me, his voice low as if he were going to flirt again but instead, "Do you travel alone? Are you authorised to negotiate?"

"What have you found?"

I thought I should cut to the chase, another time traveller in the same location as a mauve couldn't be a coincidence.

"Are you authorised to make payment?"

"My associate and I would need to confer. In fact, I should really be getting back to him."

"Him?" An almost jealous look passed through his features.

I looked around, finding my next question ironic, "Do you have the time?"

He took out his controller and pressed a button.

Big Ben chimed and lit up beside us.

"9 o'clock." I smiled at him, nodding, "Impressive."

He grinned as he came closer, his movements slow as if being cautious not to scare me off, "This associate, how close are you? Should I be jealous?"

I shook my head, "Yes, should you?"

"Was that yes...yes?"

"What do you think?" I raised an eyebrow.

As if making up his mind, Jack whispered in my ear.

"Do you like Glen Miller?"

"Of course. He's a classic."

"Excellent."

I looked over at the pilot. He had a quality that drew people to him, it was dangerous.

I smiled, "Why not, just one dance."

I let him pull me in his arms, I didn't feel the nerves I normally felt from dancing. It would seem my fears regarding it were more specific.

Jack's voice streamed into my left ear as we waltzed across the top of his ship as MOONLIGHT SONATA played.

"It's 1941, the height of the London blitz...and something else has fallen on London."

A frown came on my lips as I stared over his shoulder, history was being played in front of me.

"A fully equipped Chula warship, the last one of its kind, armed to the teeth and I know where it is."

I let out a sigh, "Took you long enough to get to the meat."

"Oh I could show you some..."

I put my hand over his mouth and ignored how he kissed my palm as I said, "Naughty."

I dropped my hand to see him grinning widely.

"Always." He spun me away and then back in his arms, "If the agency can name the right price, I can get it for you but in 2 hours a German bomb is going to fall and destroy it."

The bad feeling that had fled initially at Captain Jack's smoosing came back full force.

"That's your deadline, that's the deal."

"So you were a time agent and now you're what?'

We both answered my question at the same time.

"A bad boy." Captain Jack spoke up with a grin.

"A criminal?" I gave him a mock glare.

"So I'm assuming this associate is the one that will handle the payment?"

"He has the purse strings."

"Well then let's find him." Captain Jack looked down at his tech brace that let out a beep as he typed something into it.

"Handy, scan for alien tech?"

He raised an eyebrow in mock shock, "What don't you?"

"My partner tends to like to do things the old fashion way."

When we arrived at Albion Hospital, I felt a sense of deja vu.

"Doctor, are you here?"

"You might get several replies to that here."

"Right." I felt stupid.

Jack called out and soon a familiar solemn face came from a doorway.

I ran to him, "Doctor, what's wrong?"

He looked puzzled and almost afraid.

Jack came up and shook the Doctor's hand,

"Captain Jack Harkness. I've not heard much about you. You've got quite a loyal associate."

The Doctor didn't bother giving a glance toward Jack and instead looked at me, "Where've you been? We are in the middle of a London Blitz its no time to go on a stroll."

"If only." I shook my head, "I climbed after a kid in a gas mask and next thing I know I climbed up the wrong rope. Quite the way to see an air raid upon a barrage balloon's rope."

His jaw was slack in surprise before a chuckle came from him, "Only you, Rose Tyler."

"Oh is it Rose now." Jack spouted from behind.

"Rose Marion. It wasn't a lie."

He laughed, and headed back the way the Doctor came.

I looked at the Doctor and leaned up to whisper in his ear,

"Have you heard of the Chula? Jack's going to show a warship of theirs to us supposedly its what caused the mauve."

"Chula?" The Doctor's face descended into more confusion.

"9 centuries of exploring and you haven't heard of the Chula yet?"

He was too distracted by his thoughts to catch my teasing remark.

We reached the ward and my gut sank as I viewed all the people with gas masks.

The boy I had followed had a gas mask, but of course he did it as a protection against the aftereffects of a dropped bomb. But my door had told me to follow him and I don't think it was just to meet Captain Jack.

I zoned back in when the Doctor shouted.

"This started at the bombsite. What kind of warship?"

Jack ran a hand through his hair as he tensed, "An ambulance." He showed them a hologram via his tech brace. "It's space junk. I wanted to kid you that it was valuable but it was empty. Made sure it was. I was the one who threw it at you." He shook his head, "You aren't time agents. I should have known. Not really blending in well, Miss Spock and boat captain here."

"Miss Spock?" The Doctor whispered in confusion before he finally noticed my get up.

Jack spoke up, "I had nothing to do with what's going on here!"

I looked over at the Doctor, "What is going on here?"

"Human DNA is being re-written, by an idiot."

Suddenly as if some sort of signal sang to them the patients sat up and started walking toward us.

"Mummy? Mummy?"

"Don't let them touch you."

I shivered, "Just wonderful, its like zombies without the brain eating."

They were closing in and we were trapped against a wall.

Then the Doctor stepped forward, his serious face on.

"Go to your room. I mean it, I am very cross with you. Go to your room."

With heads tilted down, all the gas mask zombies walked back to their beds and laid back down.

The Doctor's wonderful goofy grin was back, I couldn't help but smile up at him.

"I'm really glad that worked." The Doctor looked at me in relief, "Those would have been terrible last words."

I could hear Jack's weak chuckle as we all breathed out a sigh of relief.
