I only had my kitchen and bedroom light on and fought the urge to turn them all on.
I leaned on my counter as I watched my coffee maker slowly drip into the pot, once the sun went down the reality finally hit me, someone, no possibly more took me away from my home for a week and I can't remember a thing.
What if they do it again.
We spent all day trying to find a clue but nothing.
I closed my eye's and tried to breath passed the panic attack that was just growing.
"This seems familiar" I heard the best voice making me breath in and giggle as I opened my eye's and turned to look at the man that was becoming my favorite person.
There he was sitting in my window like he had been there for ages as his one eye stared at me with slight worry "Even if it it is reversed" I leaned back and crossed my arms with a small smile.
"Maybe this time you will press something against me" I smirked as I stared at him, but my words don't bug him anymore he just leaned his head back and closed his eye for a second.
"So it finally got to you" he looked back "your scared"
I nodded, he just looked out onto the town, his arm hung over his leg the small street lights barely lighting his masked face, My face softened and I dropped my arms admiring him. He looked back as his feet moved and he stood in my home.
I watched as he placed a seal on every wall, silence seals.
"I have been thinking" He moved and took a seat at my table on a chair he did not have to pull out "We may be dealing with a higher up person then a regular ninja"
I Closed my eyes in worry and nodded before looking at him again "someone who has people to use with loyalty and knows how to confuse Tsuande without genjutsu"
"Well at least it is not her" I mumbled as I took the seat across from him leaning my head on my hands.
"I don't think who it was wanted to hurt you" I just listened as he spoke "they wanted in your head obviously may just be like that chunin, safety for the village"
"But why now?" I sat up and leaned back "I mean I have been here for somewhere around two years"
"Well it was known from back then that it was impossible to get in your head, perhaps they found a way and now you are gaining ranks and just brought back a lot of information about the clans in our village"
"Ya I am sure that guy was not the only one to wonder if I am a spy"
"Maybe the person who took your strange card"
I nodded distractedly as I forgot about that again.
It got silent and I worried he would leave so I smiled at him and stood up turning to raid my fridge "want some food?" I looked back at him half bent over "I can make something" his eye was closed but he nodded "anything specific?" I asked looking back in as I squatted trying to see what all I had "sadly most" I pulled out a rotten bag of tomato's "I need to clean my fridge" he chuckled making me look over at him.
"I tend to cook what's in my fridge the night before a mission so they don't wind up like that"
"learn something new everyday" I mumbled standing and tossing them in the garbage.
I pulled the bag of rice from my lower cupboard as this is what I had "You know I swear I just bought them" I spoke sadly looking at my stove panic coming back slightly as I watched his chakra and smiled calming down.
Pulling out some alcohol and turned to him "do you drink?"
He gave a small smile "sometimes" I smiled and pulled out two cups as I pored them on the table and sat down waiting for boiling water " but I have a mission tomorrow" as he eyed the drink I slid his towards him with a shrug.
"Drink it, don't drink it.. I however need to relax" I took a small sip "I feel violated" he looked at me sadly before pulling it towards him as I yawned and stared at my drink like it was the most amazing thing when I heard his words.
Looking up I saw nothing "wait you have a mission?" he nodded my fear coming back, I don't want him to go and leave me here.
"I don't want to go with this issue but I guess I am personally needed" I nodded "You and Tsunade are to deal with it but she said she has a plan" that made me look at him curious "ya I don't know myself" I just chuckled at that making him smile again.
I poured him a second cup and downed mine "wish Anko was in town" I mumbled. "That girl can make you forget everything for a night"
I saw him pick up his drink "maybe I can help"
I chuckled as I stood and started to measure some rice "You can try"
"Never have I ever worn someone else's underwear" I gave a sharp laugh as I faced him, he now stood next to my table with his hands in his pockets.
"Where did you learn that game?" I moved and took a swig of my drink.
He shrugged but chuckled and asked "who's underwear?" I just smirked and shrugged back at him.
"Never have I ever, had a say yes or a no tomorrow night" I looked at him knowing he wont understand.
"I am afraid to ask"
"A say yes night, you need to say yes to everything anyone asks you to do" His seemed startled "and the other is you do something, or things you always wanted to but never did like the world was ending"
"Interesting" he spoke as he looked at ceiling seemingly in thought.
"Then again I would not play with me" I joked with a flirtatious tone making him look at me, "You would be standing here mask less or skinny dipping with me" he looked at me blankly.
"Trying to cheer you up is going to make me uncomfortable, isn't it"
I gave a sad smile "Never have I ever wanted to do that" I turned away feeling ashamed but tried not to show it to make him do something kind to me and continued on the rice "So I don't have to much to put on this" I wanted to change the subject but he surprised me by opening the fridge bent over as my eye's landed on his ass making me smile.
"Then again sometimes it is my goal to make you uncomfortable"
I watched him pull out random shit that was not rotten "do you have any spices?" I nodded and pointed to the small cupboard next to the fridge, I backed up as he started to just make something so I slid onto my table and sat and watched.
"Do you shave?" I asked making him look back at me "or is there like massive hair under there?" I scratched my chin.
"Daily"
"But why?"
He just shrugged, again.
It was not long until he mixed it into the rice and went to serve us.
We ate and drank a bit more and just had a good night free of flirting before turning on the t.v and moving around the channels just chilling on the couch, as I kicked my feet up he looked at my feet funny "don't tell me your clean freak mind hates this"
He just did not speak "Kick up your feet, enjoy it, you are not the one cleaning" he sighed before he decided to agree.
"Wait" he spoke as I looked at him "go back" I nodded and switched the previous channel. It was the snow princess movie.
I made a small noise "is this the one we were a part of?"
"Unsure" deciding to watch the already started movie we just got comfortable, I could feel his heat we were so close and being slightly tipsy I tried to pay attention but he crossed my mind more then the movie.
It seemed to be the one we were there for but I am so glad we were not really in it even if I recognized some parts.
They did use some of the fighting scenes and transitioned it well to make it seem like she did it all without letting the world know the fighting style of some leaf ninja's, I bet it was something they could not do.
I snuggled into his shoulder while watching him without looking to make sure I did not make him uncomfortable but he seemed fine with it when he shifted and got more comfortable with a sweet smile I just got into the movie.
I sat up in my bed with a yawn feeling great, snuggled into my blankets in a slight sweat as I looked out my balcony doors to the morning light before getting up and peeking into my living room noticing he was gone.
I leaned on my door frame with a smile, I don't know when I fell asleep, let alone got to my bed "thank you for making me forget" I said to no one and moved to my coffee maker.
"I am sending you on a long mission" I looked at Tsunande strangely.
"How does that help if.." she held up her hand.
"If it seems like we are looking we will never know, getting you away from the village is the best plan" I nodded understanding "I will quietly inquire here but the only thing you can do is be safe so it wont happen again" I just slid my hands into my pockets and waited. "You are being sent to bring back the scrolls you found to the main villages" my eyes grew at this strange mission.
"It took a while but we talked to the other villages who I am sure hate that we have them and to build peace we will be taking them back secretly" she yawned and I noticed she looks very tired "Only you and who you will be with will know this is your mission" I just nodded and crossed my arms in worry.
"You will meet your team in four hours at the gate, get ready for a few months of running" Months? really? "yes, really"
"Did I say that out loud?" I laughed out and she shook her head.
"I thought about it as Shizune is my number one hand but I need her here so I am sending Sakura as the ambassador so when dealing in a new country she will be leader" I nodded "Other then that it is jonin's job to guide"
She waved me off but I waited "How you doing?" I asked quietly making her look at me strange "are you worried, are you okay?"
She looked so shocked, hmm I wonder if many people ask that? "I am pissed and tired but don't worry, I can handle myself" she spoke with a cocky tone but a friendly smile, I just nodded and turned to leave.
Leaning on the box with the cute boys at the gate in wait as I listened to the story of this old man that came through, he was almost deaf, spoke real slow and seemed to not understand how coming into villages like this was like. I was lightly chuckling at the story when Tenten just showed up and stood around looking lost, I smiled at her and it took her a few minutes to notice me.
She waved at me but did not move as I moved from the desk to her "are you with me?" she nodded with a smile and I was glad, I liked this girl she was kind and I love her weapons.
Slowly they all showed up, Sakura, Shikamaru and Asuma as we stuck around waiting on one more when Ino came our way looking pissed for some reason as Asuma, Shika and I tried to not make her more mad but Sakura just made it worse after some angry words between them we all just headed out.
These two together again may make a loud few months.
We are heading to the village hidden in the sand first. It is about a three day run there but its all the others that will make this a long time as we will move in an arc, some of the scrolls came from places we don't know or small clans lost in the world that we will only be going to the main ones but I have never been in another hidden village, not even the sand so I am excited to see this world.
Sitting high in the trees as I mindlessly spun a kunai in my hand Ino sitting on a branch above me as we sat quietly on the last shift of the night. I could hear her yawn sometimes.
"Can I try a new technique on you" she asked quietly.
"Sure" I yawned "why not" as she landed on my branch.
"Okay so I will talk to you in your mind" she started to do some hand signs when I jumped up and stopped grabbed her hands.
"Umm the last time you blondes got in my head, it did not end well for me" she looked shocked but dropped her hands "Ya it knocked me out for ages" I lightly laughed, I guess they never told her.
She looked sad "now I want to try even more"
"Maybe sometime in the village"
She gave a mischievous smile "I will hold you to that"
"Anything else I can do for you?"
"Well I saw you are getting better and I am not very good at, hitting a target from a poor vantage point" it took me a second but I understand as we got some space from the others and set up a few targets around before standing in a spot that takes skill to hit and cannot see from here.
We both needed this.
It was a long three day's and I forgot how much I hated running in the sand, so much inside my boots and the wind blew it up into my mouth and eyes to much. I was shocked when we finally came to the village, the fact the walls were made of sand took it much longer to be able to see as it blended right in.
Walking there was many guards all along the wall as it moved up like a pyramid, It was a long thin walk into the village as we moved slowly to not be a threat but once it opened up I was taken by the place.
It was all sand, they mostly built the buildings in strange circles, people moved around some dressed normal for this world while others were almost completely covered. We had a few passing glances as we really stood out but no one seemed to care that the leaf were here.
A familiar boy stole my attention, I met him once at the tower and saw him way back in the day, the cat boy Reji was in love with. He stood there with attitude staring at us as we walked towards him.
I got a better look at his creepy puppet on his back before we stopped in front of him, everyone here knowing who he was, Konkuro.
He gave us all a head nod and turned to walk in a way that said follow me, his eye's looking me over as he recognized me to.
"Garaa has been busy lately but was glad to hear you were coming" he spoke. I just looked around and sniffed the air as I half listened to the conversation. There was a strange smell here that I could not place and the buildings were most amazing but the air was so dry I craved some water as we came to a big sand building, walking passed the small door I lightly scratched the wall and was interested to know I could not shake off any dirt.
We came into a big room where the redhead sat behind a non sand big dark red desk as his sister sat on the corner of it, I saw her eye's land on Shika and grew with an almost hidden happiness making me look at him as he also locked eye's with her and looked content but he always looks that way.
I wonder if there is something there? Her and the red head scanned us all as they said hello, he obviously has no clue who I am and I think the blonde forgot about me from the tower as there was no recollection on her readable face.
I stood slightly behind with my hand in my pocket as they chatted and the scrolls got handed over, I guess they tried to track them down but it did not work and he has people out looking but when Tsuande got in touch they are headed home now.
Gaara was sad to see Naruto was not with us as they chatted about him, I guess he also changed this kids life. He has some weird skill I wish he would work on me. I wonder how that ball of energy is doing.
As they all chatted lightly cat boy moved closer to me but I let it go until he did it again making me check him over with a curious face, I can see how he is to Renji how Kakashi is to me, another covered and mysterious person making me wonder what is under that face paint and black suit.
He saw me see him as he shifted closer and moved next to me as I looked at his face, he was slightly taller then me "So" he spoke as he stared at his siblings and pretended I was not there but he seemed to be short on words as I gave a small smile.
"How is Reji?" I asked as he glanced at me slightly.
"I don't care" he scoffed and looked away before giving me a quick glance "he is fine" I smiled at the fact this guy knows who he is, that is all that kid ever wanted was to be acknowledged by him.
The air between us got quiet and awkward as I held back a laugh, obviously he wanted to say something but I have no idea what, I took him as a person who says what is on his mind so this was weird. He did not speak before we were done in here and was given a few good rooms at the local Inn. We left before he got whatever it was out.
"No the best way.." Sakura spoke.
"I am doing it right" I sat there yawning as I gave a glance at Tenten but she seemed to be fine with the noise as she laid on the bed with her eyes closed and hands behind her head. I was jealous that the guys had a separate room.
"I am above you remember" sakura yelled as they practiced some med jutsu.
"Shut up forehead"
"Ino pig" they just raged at each other so I got up and walked to the door.
"I am going for food and maybe just look around" I spoke softly and opened the door when Tenten was next to me and we left together leaving them alone.
We passed the open door to the boy's as they sat there playing shogi on the floor "We are going to eat as the other two yell" He nodded, obviously hearing the others just as well but he gave a look at Tenten and she nodded before we moved out of the building.
We found an outdoor food stand with meat on sticks and bought a few as we slowly strolled around the village just being tourists. A few times we paused and chatted on how the fuck the building was even still standing as the architecture in some areas are kind of weird and I wanted to know how they made them stay like that.
My sandcastles never lasted.
These have floors people walk on.
Once again the physics in this world make my head spin.
"I wonder if they will ever stop fighting" I spoke as I ate the rest of my stick and hung onto it for a garbage.
"They always have"
"They are so loud" I spoke up.
She chuckled "try being with Lee and Guy daily, I am used to loud" that made me laugh as I pictured the strange guys in there signature stance, ya I think they would drain me had I been paired with them for month long missions.
"Ava!" I heard and the biggest smile crossed my face as I spun and looked at the pink head that came charging at me.
He grabbed me into the tightest hug as I hugged him back "Reji" I spoke softly glad to see he was here. I introduced them his cute smile made Tenten smile back just as big. "Guess what?" He spoke "Kankuro is kind of my friend now" he swooned I was about to speak but he spoke so fast "he is so" he sighed as he looked at the sky.
Slapping his hands together he leaned forward into my face "you have never been here before?" He spoke loudly looking between Tenten and I as I nodded "let me show you around, I know all the best food places" I smiled, ya he knows me, he grabbed my hand and walked briskly through the crowds, I looked back with a smile as she followed us.
He showed us to many places and a few of the more interesting parts of town, they did have regular tables at these places and not everything was made out of sand like it seems. We came to this place however that the tables and benches were made out of sand as we sat down and he ordered sand village foods we never would have had before.
We quietly waited as he chatted our ears off about his life when they brought out three big shareable plates of food, some kind of bread, some kind of meat and small white balls but that did not stop him, I was glad to hear of his life since then but mostly glad he was still here.
I bit into the strange ball as Reji stared at me with a look, it was hard and chewy with no flavor, I spit it into my hand with a unimpressed look on my face but that made him laugh his head off as Tenten pulled her hand back in worry from picking one up.
"You need to unwrap the outside" he was in a fit of giggles and could not get the next words out easy "they wrap it in a kind of leaf to keep it together and safe" understanding I started to unwrap the ball as it almost seemed like it was close to falling apart as I stuffed the whole thing in my mouth. It was not bad as Tenten picked one up and Reji was watching us with interest.
It was sweet and slightly spicy and pretty good.
"It is not bad" I said as I swallowed and grabbed some hard bread that we put a spread on and looked at him before I ate it, he nodded and this was really good, whatever the fuck it was. I saw his chakra lost in the pile as Asuma headed our way, I slid over so he could join us but he gave me a joking look to me and nodded in a direction. There was Shika and Temari talking way down the road as we all peered and watched.
There has to be something going on by the looks of there body language.
Eventually I had to say goodbye and we headed back to the inn. Turning on the water for a shower took a few seconds. It came out in spurts startling me before it came to a big stream. The bathroom was like a normal bathroom obviously fixed up due to water damage with sand but it had a small circle window without glass making me nervous as there was not even a curtain.
I had sand everywhere it could be, double the kind I would have at a day at the beach. The pressure was light but it did it's job.
Again glad I fell into the Land of fire, the forest was me and the sand would suck or the consent snow. I wonder what the other villages were like and I am more excited to try even more food.
We headed out before noon. We will be running in sand until we reach Ishigakure: Village Hidden in Stones as it is between where we need to go Iwagakure: Village Hidden by Rocks. Two places I keep calling them wrongly and I still forget what is what and what one is first really all I know is one is labeled a one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, while the other is not.
We again ran through the sun and I did not speak up this time as much as I hated it. With only a few small breaks for water we all just ran and no one really spoke and nothing really happened as I lied down my sleeping bag as the sun set. Knowing this will be filled with sand from now to the end of time.
I just laid on my blanket and watched the stars in the clear sky glad to feel a little cold.
Half asleep on watch when small sneeze came out and then another making me sit up "someone is talking about you" I heard the deep voice of Asuma.
"Ah your awake" I spoke "I guess if that is true, no one ever talks about me as I barely sneeze"
"You want to be talked about?"
"Ah only if it is good things" he chuckled as I saw him light another smoke, I smiled with a need to use the bathroom making me stand up as I started to walk off but he sat up looking at me in the bright moonlight, he seemed overly worried "I uh" pointed to no where in this big litter box "need to uh, pee" he nodded and stood up.
"Well I was hoping to be alone"
"We are meant to not leave you alone" I was startled.
"Really?" I thought of not noticing how I did have a female near me before, the fact I could not even find wood alone and how I never really thought that was strange but it is true, I have not been alone.
I thought between holding it but I have drank so much water today as I looked from him to the open area, before looking for a hidden spot.
"I should have noticed that" I spoke quietly and walked off where I saw a shadow, hoping for a rock or like a pit of sand as he followed his smoke's glow bobbing up and down when we got a few feet away I paused and looked out into the endless dark with a glance, I could not see them but I could feel the chakra running at us from the outskirts of my sense "shit" I made a noise as I really need to pee.
He followed my eye's before mine landed on the sleeping kids. Asuma understanding as we spun and ran towards them "There is five" I spoke softly.
The moon was small tonight showering the area in a small light but they stopped moving a few feet away, covered head to toe in light brown outfits blending into the area with ease. I shifted and lightly kicked Tenten "get up guys" Asuma spoke up startling but waking up the others.
"Well well well what have we here" What sounded female spoke up "leaf ninja's may have some interesting things" They all stood in a line as the kids got on there feet.
"And a bunch of kids to" A man spoke up with excitement.
Asuma pulled out his weapons as I stood in a defensive stance in ready, "I call his weapons" Another spoke up.
"As if they are mine" the girl spoke again.
Two started to charge but then paused and squatted making me smile, no need to look back and see it was Shika, I pulled out my whip with one quick hand sign and snapped it to the person on the far left making him jump backwards.
Asuma charged the far right as Tenten tossed handfuls of Kunai at the last one standing. I ducked from a shuriken and moved to wrap it around his leg, I just made it tightened it real tight and swung him away from the group.
I let him go as he rolled on the ground and got on his feet but I was already at him turning my whip into my fists and moved to punch his face and neck making my water dig into his cheek cutting it but he got away and it was not deep.
He did a few hand signs making me turn my fists into a shield, but a big slush came at me from his mouth coving my shield and my head as it rolled down my back, it was thick and gross and smelled very bad.
I stepped back sliding in the goop and the loose sand falling on my ass as he ran at me doing hand signs "feel my fire" it was so cheesy I started to laugh as I got on my feet and just barely dodged a fire ball making him glare at me with slight confusion.
But the goop that was left where I once stood blew up like a bomb making my laughter stop "Ya" he spoke with a cocky tone pulling my hands to my face in fast movements and I pushed out chakra, a small wave of water headed toward him turning the sand into mud making him jump back but then his feet sunk into the massive mud pit, he stepped back slowed down awkwardly giving me a chance to run in.
Running on the top of the mud I slid in it between his legs dodging a second fireball and cut the insides of his shins but he jumped and moved to kick me as he flipped but I blocked with ease cutting his foot.
He finally noticed it was bad to fight me upfront and got space from me, I started to try and get close again but he made sure to stay back. I checked the chakras as my back was to them and they all seemed to be fighting fine even if Sakura was weirdly standing in the middle. This is my guy and I need to take him down quickly.
I rolled my eye's as he made another small fire ball, shoving chakra into my feet I dodged it again where the small goop that fell off me blew up like a crappy firework, not the biggest explosion.
I charged in again but he was dodging every swing and continued to try and get some space on me but I had him on the defensive, sadly it was pulling me farther from the others. He tossed Kunai as my while jumping back making me block with my water fist and he made a fire ball so fast.
I transferred with a small fallen cactus as the fire lit it up mid air, wrapping him in my whip from behind I pulled him to me and moved to cut into him he blocked with his arm but I still cut deep as he tried to duck and kick but he did not have much motion, so I tightened it as much as could hearing him make a noise as I kicked out his feet and he fell slightly but I held him up slightly.
Putting all my force I kicked him in his chest and let him free of my whip, he went flying backwards skipping in the sand and I swear I heard a crack of bone but I was on him again wrapping my water around my feet I kicked him again into the air cutting into him as he tried to right himself but I was behind him again kicking him into the sky again.
I did the move I have seen many times from many leaf ninja's, I slammed my right foot into his chest with my water and he went flying to the ground hitting it hard making dust poof up, landing casually a few feet away I could see blood everywhere.
He was alive but in pain, dropping my water I stood there sadly but then he tried to get up making me sigh "no stay down" he glared at me and still tried to get up so I ran in close and slammed my foot into his chest stepping on him breaking I am sure another rib.
"Okay" I heard a small voice as he held onto his chest and wiggled in pain.
"I am sorry" I spoke and looked towards the others.
They had three down and were piling on the last I looked down again before I turned and joined them.
These seemed to be just ninja bandit's and hoping there wont be more we packed up and ran as it was around four in the morning, I would rather run at night anyway. I felt so gross and I know I smelled so bad, it was all I could smell and I still had to pee, I was very uncomfortable.
After running for about fifteen minutes the need to pee came back strong as I veered off Ino coming with me this time.
"That was so needed" I spoke pulling my pants up.
"Ya worst place out here" she looked around as we headed back to the group "I would rather do that in a bucket then out here, I hate it"
"Believe me, this is better then a bucket" I joked.
We just ran for a while when it started again.
The fighting.
"You did nothing billboard brow" Ino sneared.
"A medical Ninja stays back and does not fight" she spoke like a text book.
"Please at least I did something" as they got louder and I shared a look with Asuma making me smile as he smiled back.
Never go on a mission with both of them. Good fact to know.
This is going to be long.
We came across a small pond a little after sunrise and I jumped right in, All the girls following me as the boy's found a spot to lie down ten feet away under the only tree.
I scrubbed as Tenten sat with her feet in and Ino stood in it like she was posing for a magazine "Who are you posing for, the only boy's here are taken" I spoke finally once I was clean.
She looked down at me "A girl should always look her best" she spoke but Sakura made a noise and got into my face.
"What do you mean they are taken?" that was when Ino heard my words and, shit, I slid my mouth under the water as the two of them stared at me like I had the juiciest gossip. I guess they don't know about Asuma and Kure and must not have seen the something from earlier and I am supposed to be the dumb one. "Come on what do you mean?"
"Ya does Asuma sensei have a girlfriend?" Ino spoke quietly as they peered over at them so far away. Tenten looked with us but she seemed to not care to much, knowing I said to much I just stood up and walked out of the water as they yelled at me.
"Where are you going?" Ino sounded hurt.
"You can't just leave now" Sakura spoke but I just continued to walk towards the boys, soaked to the bone I could use some sun and I am sure they wont follow and ask me next to them.
It took us a long time to get out of the sand and the area we walked into was the most amazing looking canyons, I do remember being near this area that one time. The way it was like a maze through the canyons as we walked along the bottom and the fact the sun was blocked and my feet hit solid ground I was so ecstatic.
Asuma seemed to know the way to the village, they had three known scrolls taken, less then the main villages.
"So these places, we aren't really friends with them are we?" I asked Asuma as we walked trying to not get lost.
He shook his head "the war is over but no, these villages mostly the main ones will hate that we have any information on their clans, we may even be attacked by them" I looked at him startled "but there is a low chance as it is not just this group that knows and it would be a bad move and may start a war as we are trying to be civil and bring them back"
"Why genin?" I asked quietly as the girls were not paying attention but Shika was listening.
"Because of you" I looked at him worried, if something goes wrong it's my fault?
"She needed to send people that know you and won't hurt you while sending you on a long mission so she can spy on the village" This was the best idea? I now worried again, it was gone before as I know the sand and leaf are good friends, now there was a real feeling of worry and I need to pay more attention to our surroundings.
