A Toy's Intuition
Chapter 6
Andy Where Are You?
Woody watched, concerned as Andy's mom ran down the street yelling for Andy. Woody frowned, feeling that something was wrong. "Andy, what are you up to?"
"Woody what's going on?" Buzz asked confused as he watched Woody stare out the window and mutter to himself. Woody looked down to see the toys gathering around. Woody watched all of them, not looking forward to how they would respond.
"Well I can't guarantee anything, but I'm getting the feeling that Andy ran away." Woody was right that it didn't go well. The toys erupted in panic. Nobody knew what to do. They had never had a child run away.
"What are we going to do!" Rex yelled. Woody panicked looking towards the door.
"Well for one thing, don't yell. We don't know when Andy's mom is coming back." The toys all nodded in understanding. "Now. I don't know what's going on with Andy, but we're going to find out." Buzz watched concerned.
"Woody, what are you planning? It's one thing to break code with Andy, it's a completely other thing for everyone of Andy's toys to go looking for him. What if anyone sees us?" Woody listened closely, brows furrowed.
"I'm working on it. All I know is Andy is missing and we can't just leave him out there on their own. I will not do that to Andy." Buzz watched him carefully.
"I know that I can't change your mind so…I'm going with you."
"I'm coming too." Both men turned to look at Jessie strolling up to them.
"Jessie, it's going to be dangerous." Woody warned. Jessie shrugged watching the two.
"I know it's going to be. That's why I'm not letting you two dummies go off on your own. Woody, you're my best friend and Buzz is my boyfriend. I'm not losing the two of you. Andy means a lot to me too." Woody nodded.
"Ok we're going to do this. I'll have a plan ready within the hour and then we're leaving." Jessie and Buzz nodded determinedly. They were leaving and breaking code.
Woody found Jessie and Buzz an hour later with a resolve in his eyes telling them he had indeed come up with a plan. "Ok, we're going to track Andy's phone and follow it. We know that Andy's mom dropped him off at school and that's where had had to have run from. So that would be a good place to start if we can't track his phone. We're going to go on foot to avoid being noticed. We'll wait till it gets dark so that we won't be as noticed." Buzz and Jessie listened closely. That seemed as sound of a plan as any.
"Why don't we leave now? What if he's hurt? Doesn't it make more sense to go now?" Jessie asked worried for Andy. Woody shook his head.
"We can't. It's too long of a distance from here and too public of a place for us to not get caught. We can't risk it. Plus if we find Andy at night there will be less people to see him freak out at his toys talking to him. We don't want to get Andy thrown in an asylum." Jessie nodded, even if she wasn't happy about it, she understood though. "Start packing anything you can think would help. We will leave as soon as the sun sets. I'm going to go let the other toys know."
Woody walked off gathering the toys to announce his, Jessie, and Buzz's departure. It of course caused commotion. "What! It's one thing to break code, it's another thing to go trying to track our owner. What if something goes wrong? What if Andy comes back and the three of you aren't here? The three of you are some of Andy's most played with Toys. Don't you think it will upset Andy if he comes back and the three of you aren't here?" Rex asked worriedly. Woody listened quietly. He understood Rex's points and didn't blame him for worrying.
"I know Rex. But if we do find Andy I think it would be easiest for him if it's the three of us who speak to him. If he comes back and we're not here then just wait for us to get back before you break code. Honestly guys…if Andy ran away, I don't see him willingly coming back. We're going to have to convince him to come back. I know that's not what anyone wants to hear, but it's the reality of our current situation." The toys watched sadly. Most knew that this was the case, but some hadn't thought about it. That Andy might not come back on his own. That he didn't feel comfortable here anymore. The room went silent as everyone acknowledged the reality. Woody finally spoke up again, feeling the need to comfort the others even if it was just a little. "We will find him. We will bring him home."
