AN: Chapter 2 is here~! I've decided how I'm gonna do this story, in terms of uploads— basically, I'm only going to upload one chapter when I have already written the next chapter to go after it. Essentially, I write Chapter A, then I write Chapter B, and only when I've finished Chapter B will I upload Chapter A. Same goes for Chapter B once I write Chapter C, Chapter C with Chapter D, etc. etc. I've actually had this chapter finished for a while now, but wanted to finish up the 3rd chapter before I published this one. This system may or may not change, depending on my mood lol.

Also, thank you, The DarkCat for your lovely review! Yes, more Vocaloid characters need love in this fandom (namely in fanfics), and so glad to hear you're open to the idea of Kyo/Yukari! As for the first scene, well, you'll have to wait and see to find out ;)

Anyway, I don't have much else to say here, so I guess...

Enjoy~

*Not beta read, Mistakes likely to be present.

As the aunt-nephew pair walked into the vast, airy lobby of the main building, Kyouya was instantly struck by the sheer scale and sophistication of the interior. The room had a high ceiling made entirely of smart glass that adjusted its transparency to let in just the right amount of natural light. The floor was a polished expanse of marble, its surface reflecting the soft glow of strategically placed LED lights embedded in the walls. The dynamic LED displays that adorned the exterior of the building continued inside, showcasing vibrant images of campus life and welcoming messages for the new students. At the lobby's center was a large, circular information desk made of smooth, white composite material with administrative personnel seated behind it, who was currently speaking to a girl around his age and an older man, and was equipped with holographic displays that provided real-time information about the school's facilities, schedules and activities. Around the desk were a few interactive kiosks, which seem to allow students to check in by scanning their student ID cards or entering their details manually. On the right side of the lobby was a large digital screen displaying a map of the campus, highlighting important location such as the library, the science labs, the gymnasium, and the various dorms, and below this map stood a row of what Kyouya presumed to be some sort of service station, though he was unsure about what they may be used for. Beyond this information desk was a grand staircase with sleek glass railings leading to upper floors, and two elevators on either side for quicker access.

"This place is unreal..." Kyouya said to himself.

"Hello!" He heard a chirpy voice speak to the right of him, and he turned to face the source of the sound— a short, smiling woman with long, light pink hair, and a white/black dress. "My name is Kido Kokoro. Welcome to The Yamaha Academy for Advanced Studies! I assume that you two are here to register as a student for the new school year, no?"

"Yes, we are," his aunt politely replied.

"Wonderful!" Kokoro looked down at the tablet she held in her hands and tapped its screen a few times, "Names, please. We need it for both child and guardian." The two gave the woman their names, and she noted it down on her tablet. "Okay, well, now that I have your names, feel free to sit in the Waiting Area over to the left," She pointed to a room where Kyouya could see several other persons seated, "and just relax for a bit until your names are called. As you can see, there are a few others already inside, so you won't be called for a little bit, but it really shouldn't take too long."

"Of course, thank you," Kyouya's aunt said, and the pair began making their way to the Waiting Area. That is, until Kyouya felt his shoulder bump against someone as they passed him by and he heard something fall to the floor— a purple cellphone with a bunny charm attached to it.

"Ah! Sorry about that," he apologized, bending down to pick up the phone and turning to hand it back to the person he, a little more than, brushed past.

"No, no," the girl reassured. It was the same girl that had been at the information desk with the man when he first entered the building. "It's alright. I wasn't really paying close attention to where I was walking," she said as she ran her hand through one of her lavender pigtails, held by silver and pink scrunchies. Before, Kyouya had only gotten a distant, behind-view of the girl, but now that she was up close and right before him, he could see clearly that...

'She's... pretty,' he thought.

She took the phone and nodded to him with a smile. She opened her mouth to say something, but was interrupted by a stern voice.

"Yukari, let's not dawdle here. We need to get you settled." The two teens looked back to see the man that the girl, Yukari, had been with.

"Sorry, dad, I'm coming," she said with a small frown. She turned to Kyouya, saying "Sorry, I need to go. I'll see you around sometime."

"Uh, yeah, of course," he replied, and Yukari continued her way out of the building with the man, Kyouya's eyes trailing her as she walked. He thought about the borderline glare that the man that shot his way before he and Yukari left the building, as well as how upset she seemed when he called for her, but had his line of thought broken by his aunt.

"Hey there, young man. Don't you think it's a little too early to already be eyeing the girls here? You haven't even been officially registered yet!"

Her words brought him back, and Kyouya's head snapped back to the woman, flustered. "Hey, I wasn't eyeing her, I just—! Ah, whatever!" He stormed off towards the Waiting Area as his aunt laughed, with the voice of Kokoro calling the next set of persons to be dealt with in the background.

. . . . . .

The Waiting Area was spacious, and furnished with comfortable, ergonomic chairs and low tables. Potted plants and vertical gardens added touches of greenery, creating a calming atmosphere amid the technological splendor. Inside the room were a platinum-blond haired boy with a woman who seemed to be keeping an eye on him as he bounced in his seat and a girl with extraordinarily long teal twintails seated with her guardians, with another person and their female guardian having passed the pair on the way out the room as they were next to be registered. Kyouya and his aunt bade the group a good morning, before heading to the nearest seats.

The boy with the platinum-blond hair, the one with both his parents, leaned over in his chair towards Kyouya's direction, his bright blue eyes sparkling as they stared at him. "Hey, heeeey! What's your name?"

"Ah, I'm Miyazaki Kyouya," he replied, a bit taken aback by the boy's enthusiam and sudden interest in him. "What's your name?"

"Ehe, Takahashi Yuuki is my name~! Hey, hey, I like that little necklace of yours! What is that, though?"

Kyouya looked down to where the boy's eyes had gone, and fiddled with the charm on his necklace, "Oh, this? It's a tuning fork, or, well, a model one."

The boy, named Yuuki, "Tuning fork...? What, like those things they use in music? You like music, Kyouya-kun?"

Kyouya overlooked the use of his given name by a near stranger and smiled, "Yeah, I do. It's actually a passion of mine, has been for years now. Some day, I'd like to make a career out of it."

The boy's eyes shone even brighter and he leaned in even closer. "Wow! So, so! Do you play instruments, write lyrics, sing? What kind of instruments do you play, what kind of things do you write about, what kind of songs do you sing? Can you sing a song for us right now?!"

The woman next to Yuuki patted his back to stop his spouting, "Yuuki, please, ease up on the boy. And what did I say about simply calling people by their given name, especially strangers? You shouldn't do that unless they explicitly say you can," she then turned to the Miyazakis and sighed, "Please forgive my son for his impoliteness, he's always just so excited meeting new people, he forgets his manners."

As Yuuki looked at her with furrowed brows and puffed cheeks, Kyouya waved a dismissive hand, "It's really no problem to me, miss."

Kyouya's aunt, along with the other adults in the room, smiled. "He's certainly a lively one."

"Yes, he is," Yuuki's mother smiled tiredly, "Though, a lot of the time his energy can be a bit much for the given situation."

Yuuki's brows went deeper down his face, and the man seated with the teal-haired females grinned, "Same with our daughter; she can be a rowdy little rascal when she feels like it, but right now she's on her best behaviour, it seems." He ruffled the young girl's hair and she laughed.

"Aw, c'mon now, Dad! Don't tease me!"

She removed his hand from her head, and the woman next to her began to speak, "Sorry to barge in on the conversation, but you mentioned that you have an avidity for music, right, Miyazaki-san? Our daughter here happens to also enjoy music quite a bit, as well."

"More than a bit, becoming a famous diva is, like, my lifelong dream!" The young tealette closed her eyes and cupped her cheeks, "My goal is to become the number 1 Princess of Song in the whole world!"

"That's a pretty lofty dream there," Kyouya said, finding the girl's words fairly amusing, "But, you've definitely got the spirit."

"Thanks," she grinned. "I'm Hatsune Miku, by the way. Hey, Miyazaki-san, when we start classes here, I want to know more about your favourite things to do regarding music."

"Sure, I'd love to talk more about it with you later on," Kyouya agreed. Miku put both her arms in the air in a victorious manner.

"Yes, I can't wait! We're gonna have a super-duper Miku-Music talking time!"

"Miku-Music...?" Kyouya's head cocked to the side in confusion.

"Never mind her, she likes to make up titles for things and include her name in them," Miku's mother shook her head. "She gets that ego from her father, I'd say."

"Hey!" The father-daughter duo yelled out indignantly, and the woman laughed.

"Muuu, that sounds fun..." Yuuki slouched in his seat, "Making music sounds fun... I wish I could do that, too... or do science-y stuff and make robots like Piko-kun..."

"Piko-kun?" Kyouya echoed inquisitively.

"That's the name of the boy who had walked out when you walked in," informed Yuuki's mother, "with the mismatched eyes, Utatane Piko-san."

'Oh, so that was a boy.' Kyouya had noticed that the person looked pretty androgynous, so couldn't determine the gender.

"And Yuuki, you're already plenty good at crafting things," she felt the long earflap of the knitted hat that Yuuki wore, which Kyouya assumed was handmade by the boy himself.

"Yeah, but music sounds more fun," he whined, and she sighed.

"Well, if you'd like, I can teach you to play an instrument," Kyouya offered. "I'm pretty good at the guitar."

"So good that you won 1st place at our city's local music competition with his skills," his aunt said with a smirk as she lightly elbowed him on his arm.

"Wow, you did?" Miku asked excitedly. "That's amazing! You know, I've actually managed to help lead my old school's choir to victory at an all-schools singing competition once," she said a bit proudly with a wink. "Maybe you and I could do some duet practice together one day, Miyazaki-kun! Ooh, and I can give you vocal lessons too, Takahashi-kun, if you'd like!"

The previously slouching boy immediately bounced up in his seat, thrilled to bits over the suggestion. "You would? Yeah, I'd love that! I want the Miku-Music talking time, too!"

The Waiting Room was quickly filled with idle talk about the students' plans for school life, the curriculum and the activities offered, jokes thrown out about the parents' soon-claimed freedom and Kyouya was even more thrilled for his future at Yamaha.

. . . . . .

"Okay, so you are Miyazaki Kyouya and his guardian Miyazaki Ena, yes?"

"Right," the latter replied, as they finally stood behind the information desk after around 5-10 minutes of waiting, ready to register. The woman behind the desk smiled warmly, her finger flying over the holographic keyboard as she confirmed their information.

"Welcome to The Yamaha Academy for Advanced Studies," she said, her voice pleasantly professional. "We just need to finalize a few details. Miyazaki-san," she looked towards the young man, "you'll need to have your photo taken for your student ID, then both of you will need to sign some forms. It won't take long." She gestured to the small, sleek camera on the desk.

Kyouya stepped up and gave the best smile he could as the camera captured his image. The woman tapped a few more keys, and Kyouya's photo appeared on a holographic projection of his new student ID. "Great," she said, turning the display so that both Kyouya and his aunt, Ena, could see it. "Now, if you could both sign here," she indicated a glowing section of the desk, "we'll be all set."

Kyouya and Ena leaned forward to sign, their signatures appearing instantly on the screen. The woman nodded in satisfaction.

"Perfect. Here are your orientation packets," she handed them two slim, digital folders and a pair of tablets, "which include a school-issued tablet, your schedule, a map of the campus, and some important contact information. Your dorm assignment is there as well, Miyazaki-san."

"Thank you," Ena said, taking the packets and devices.

"If you have any questions, feel free to ask anyone with a badge like mine," the woman said, pointing to her own ID badge clipped to her blouse. "Enjoy your time at Yamaha Academy."

"Actually, I do have one," Kyouya gestured towards the 'service stations' to the right of the room, "What are those for?"

"Ah, those are stations where you can print any physical documents that may be required, recharge your school tablet and access the school's network for any necessary academic tasks."

"I see, thank you."

The woman nodded, and with that, Kyouya and Ena made their way out of the building, the digital folders in hand, bidding Kokoro who still stood by the door a goodbye before exiting. The excitement of starting a new chapter at such an extraordinary place filled Kyouya with a mixture of anxiety and anticipation.

"Well, it's official," Ena smiled, placing a hand on his shoulder. "You are now a student at The Yamaha Academy! How does it feel?"

"Like this is gonna be the best year of my life," he grinned. The two made their way to Ena's car to carry Kyouya's belongings to his dorm room. As they began to unload the car, Kyouya noticed a robotic carrier— a sleek, automated luggage transporter gliding smoothly towards them.

The transporter stopped in front of them, and a synthesized voice greeted them. "Welcome, student Miyazaki Kyouya. I will be your personal luggage transporter. Please place your belongings on the carrier, and I will transport them to your dormitory."

"Wow, that's pretty cool..." Kyouya said, impressed by the advanced technology.

Ena nodded, smiling as they began to load Kyouya's bags onto the robotic carrier, "This place really is something else. Makes moving in a lot easier, doesn't it?"

After about a minute or so, the pair had finally placed the last bag onto the carrier— or rather, what the two had considered the last bag. "One more item is still yet to be placed onto the carrier. Please place the final item onto the carrier before we proceed."

Kyouya and Ena looked at each other puzzled by what was left to be placed down, until Ena eyed the guitar case that Kyouya had strapped over his person and pointed at it, "I think it may be referring to that guitar case of yours, Kyo."

Kyouya looked down at the strap of the case, and waved a hand at the transporter. "Ah, no, that's fine. I, kinda prefer to carry this myself, if that's alright."

The transporter was silent for a moment, before responding, "Very well, then. Please follow me to your dormitory," and gliding towards the dorm buildings, with Kyouya and Ena following closely behind.

As they walked, Kyouya looked all around the place and couldn't help but feel his eagerness grow. Despite there being a mere fraction of the number of students here than at Kyouya's previous high school, the entire place somehow felt twice as vibrant. 'This is it, a new beginning.'

The robotic carrier led them to one of the dormitory buildings, the blue one to be exact, stopping at the entrance. "Your room is on the second floor, room 224," the carrier announced. "Please proceed to the elevator. Your belongings will be waiting for you in your room."

Kyouya and Ena went in, and upon entering, the two were greeted to the spacious, inviting area that is the common area that is the ground floor. Modern couches and armchairs were arranged in clusters, low coffee tables, and a large kitchen area equipped with stainless steel appliances and islands with bar stools was also in place. Nearby, a communal dining area featured long tables and benches, and opposite the lounge was an entertainment zone with a large holographic TV, gaming consoles, and bean bags, alongside a bookshelf with books and board games. A study area with individual desks, ergonomic chairs, and soundproofed study pods occupied another section.

The two took the elevator up to the second floor, where they found room 116 easily. As promised, the door was open, and Kyouya's possessions were neatly arranged inside, waiting to be unpacked and sorted to his liking.

"Well, this is your new home," Ena said, looking around the cozy yet high-tech room before settling her eyes on her nephew. "Do you need any help getting settled?"

"Thanks, but I think I can handle it from here," Kyouya replied, gratitude evident in his voice. He gave the woman a big, warm smile. "Thank you for everything, auntie. I seriously have no idea where I'd be if it wasn't for you."

Ena shook her head, "No need to thank me, Kyouya. Just doing my job as your aunt." She embraced the boy in a warm hug, "Haaah, I'm seriously gonna miss you, you little rascal, you."

"I'll miss you, too," Kyouya snickered at the playful little insult she gave him, but hugged her back just as tightly.

"I'm just a call away if you need anything," she said, holding his shoulders and looking him in the eyes. "Good luck, and most importantly, remember to have fun and make the most of this opportunity."

"I will," Kyouya promised. As Ena left, Kyouya took a deep breath and looked around his new room. It was fairly empty, but he already had visions of what he'd do with the place to make it his own. He rested his hands on his hips and smiled.

"Time to get to work."

And that was Chapter 2! This chapter focused mostly on establishing the setting of the place, rather than meeting a lot of familiar faces. Though, I hope you enjoyed meeting Yukari (though it was very brief), Yuuki (Yuu) and Miku! (and the mentioning of Piko lol. His time, along with others, will come, no worries)

I also made a list of the characters' outfits for this chapter, if anyone happens to be interested for whatever reason, lol. I wish I could link images to the references I used, but links on FFN are busted if they don't link to another page on the site RIP T_T

...

Outfits in this Chapter:
(Main Outfit; Socks/Shoes; Accessories)

Kyouya (Kyo) - A blue T-shirt with black jeans and an auburn belt; black zip-up boots; tuning fork necklace, several bracelets and rings. (Official art by Ayakura)

Yukari - A white blouse with black dots, and black shorts, all underneath a black/fuchsia rabbit-earred hoodie; dark-grey OTK socks and black ankle boots; silver/pink scrunchies, a black/pink circular hairclip, a silver/pink moon bracelet. (Combo of official artworks, all by Juu Ayakura)

Yuuki (Yuu) - A mauve/white tie-dye shirt with matching cargo pants and a white long-sleeve shirt underneath, a red belt; brown sandals; a pink/orange knitted hat with long ear flaps, a peace-sign necklace (Combo of official art by Ayakura and Carnelian)

Miku - Solitude Module, except the skirt is black instead because that white skirt does not do it for me (Designed by Tama, Project Diva)

Piko - A black zip-up shirt with silver stripes on the epaulettes; grey pants; dark brown loafers (Fanart by Lya-yuki)

...

Also, imma come right out and admit that I stole the name Ena from Project Sekai LOL. I don't even play the game anymore, but I keep up with the story sometimes (well, at least the ones that really interest me). On a related note, WxS and 25-ji best groups, Tsukasa best boy, Emu best girl, Saki is close 2nd, don't at me. Fun fact, I was originally gonna name her Ichika (from Leo/Need) but then I just envisioned the aunt as more of an 'Ena' so I used that hehe~

I also wonder if anyone can guess which Vocaloid Kido Kokoro is based off of... ;D (hint: she was to be released in the V4 era but her production's been seemingly cancelled, very unfortunately)

Anywhooo, I think this is where I'll leave off for now.

'Till next time (whenever that may be)~!
