Come Home to Us, Randy: Chapter 9: {Riding over Shiloh}
It did'nt take Betsy long to finish the dishes, change into her riding clothes, and head down to the barn to find Randy. Morning, Betsy; the Virginian said when he
saw her. Good morning; she replied pleasantly. How's Randy this morning, Betsy?; The Virginian asked. He's alright so far; Betsy replied. I'm going riding and I've asked him
to come along with me; Betsy added. Where are you going this morning?; Betsy asked curiously. I'm going into town to wire your father about when he might be back,
Betsy; The Virginian answered. Well, since you're headed to town, could you mail this letter to Daddy for me, please?; Betsy asked. Sure, Betsy; The Virginian replied,
putting the letter in his pocket. See you later, honey; The Virginian said as he galloped away. See you later; Betsy called out. Where's the boss goin', Betsy?; Randy asked,
leading their horses over to where she stood. He's just headed into town, Randy; Betsy replied. Would ya' like me to tie that basket onto your saddle, Betsy?; Randy asked.
Yes, thank you, Randy; Betsy replied as he tied it on. Up you go, Betsy; Randy said, helping her up. Thanks, Randy; Betsy replied, smiling at him. Where do you wanna go,
Betsy?; Randy asked as they rode through the Shiloh gate. Oh, I've got a place in mind, Randy; Betsy replied. It' s a place that I have'nt shown you yet and it's really
pretty; Betsy said smiling. I think you'll like it a lot, Randy; Betsy said as they rode along the trail to the cabin in the hills where she and her daddy had lived.
How far is it to this place, Betsy?; Randy asked. We'll be there in a little while, Randy; Betsy replied. Okay, Betsy; Randy said as they rode on.
And so they rode on, through Shiloh's range-land and valleys, and into the hills above the range-land, until finally they arrived at the cabin where Betsy had spent part of her life
before living in the Shiloh ranch-house. What is this place, Betsy?; Randy asked when they arrived. This is where Daddy and I lived when Shiloh was being built, Randy; Betsy
replied. It's real pretty, Betsy; Randy replied, taking in the view around him. It is that, Randy; Betsy said, climbing down from her horse and untying the basket. My, it must
well after noon!; Betsy exclaimed quietly. I reckon, Betsy; Randy replied. The sun sure is high enough for it to be past that time, Betsy; Randy remarked. Do you want to see
inside before we eat lunch, Randy?; Betsy asked. Sure, Betsy; Randy replied.
