Hey guys, I'm sorry I took too long to update this story, I thought I could get more of this done over the summer, but I got sidetracked by other things (my summer only lasted May 22nd through the very end of July (I know that's plenty of time to work on this, but remember, I said I was sidetracked by other things)). Also, I know you Pokemon fans are still distraught by a certain tragedy that happened six days ago (at the time I posted this chapter (August 16th, 2024)). I mean dang, Rachael Lillis, the voice of Misty, Jessie, and yes... Jigglypuff, one of our heroes in this story, (and probably many other characters in fiction) dead at 55, she will be missed dearly, so I just need to say, thanks Rachael for helping forge many childhoods with your voice talents, you will be missed (R.I.P Rachael Lillis (July 8th, 1969 - August 10th, 2024)), you are irreplaceable (if anyone reading this can think of anyone who can replicate all these voices, please let me know who it is or who they are).

Anyway... with two of the citadels out of commission, it's Donkey Kong, Pikachu, and Captain Falcon's turn to take one down, all while another face is looking to get in on the action.
Disclaimer: I don't own these characters nor the franchises involved in this story, they belong to Nintendo. If I owned Nintendo, this would be a canon animated movie, but I sadly don't.
Chapter 12: "Amazon Action!"
The moonlight was shining across the majestic blue oceans, the peaceful atmosphere was welcomed due to the current conflict, then again, peace never lasts long, much like the waters when the Blue Falcon sped above them. Director Sakurai found the Blue Falcon and allowed the team going to the Amazon Jungle to fly it there, Captain Falcon was piloting it with Pikachu in the back seat, while Donkey Kong was, "Why am I hanging on the outside, again?"
"Because you're too big to fit into the cockpit!" Replied the F-Zero pilot as he kept the Blue Falcon at a fast enough speed with DK hanging onto the wing real tight.
Pikachu saw this and smirked as he turned his attention to the mighty ape through the windshield, "Pika Pika? Pikachu (What's the matter DK? Afraid of a little wind)?" He said jokingly, he knew he could've ridden there instead because as an electric type Pokémon, he was resistant to flying types with a ton of air moves, but he chose not to. "Pi Pika Pikachu (Or are you just salty that you didn't get a big enough workout during the siege on Hal City)?"
The gorilla made a 'pfft' sound, "As if I, Donkey Kong, the strongest ape in the world, would be afraid of wind." He boasted, "So how about a contest for who can bash up the most Polygon soldiers when we get to their…whatever it is?"
"Chu, Pika (Oh, you're on)!"
"Citadel." Captain Falcon corrected the ape, "And settle down, you two." He sighed, "Look, I admire your competitive spirit, but we have a job to do and many lives and worlds to save."
The two sighed, "Dude, you are just no fun at all." Said DK.
The captain smirked, "I could make this thing go way faster."
Pikachu smiled excitedly at that, "Pika? Pikachu (For real? Do it now)!"
"No." Captain Falcon answered, making the Pokémon frown, "Not today, maybe some other time."
The three remained silent for a whole minute until DK broke the silence, "Say, do either of you have… I don't know, someone to go back to when all this is over?" He asked them.
Captain Falcon sighed, thinking of Luna, "My wife, Luna." He then thought of a few of his competitors who are also his friends like Jody Summer, Draq, and others, "My friends, just to name a few." DK felt that a little.
Pikachu then thought of his trainer, "Pika (Red)." That confused the ape.
"Who's Red?" He asked.
Pikachu explained, "Pikachu (My trainer)." The electric Pokémon then explained what Pokémon Trainers were.
DK and Captain Falcon started to understand Pikachu's explanation, "So in your world, there are people who train creatures like you to get stronger as well as travel alongside them on a lot of adventures?" Asked the captain, to which the mouse responded with a nod.
"Neat." Said DK.
"What about you, DK?" Asked Captain Falcon.
"What do you mean?"
"You were the one who asked if we had anyone to go back to when this is over, so I figured you had someone too." The captain made a good point.
The gorilla sighed, "Dad, brother, nephew, girlfriend, friends. I'd never forgive myself if I let any of them die." He looked at the captain and mouse, "There, I said it, happy?"
The smirks from the other two were enough to answer, "Pika Pika (Don't think that just because we're sympathizing with each other means I'm gonna let you beat me in that contest)." Pikachu told him, smirking.
"Wasn't even thinking about it." DK replied, returning the playful smirk.
"I admire your competitive spirits, but don't let your little competition get in the way of our mission." Captain Falcon told them.
"Yeah, sure, whatever." Said the gorilla carelessly as the mouse did the same. From there, their trip went as quiet as possible.
Shortly after arriving in the jungle, the Polygon soldiers drove out all of the animals inhabiting the area and made sure the military were nowhere in sight due to the jungle being unpopulated, the squad leader inspected to see any intruders within the area, but believed it to be illogical. "Sir!" It turned to see one of its soldiers marching up to him. "We have received word from General Metal, he lost all communication with the other citadels and requests your audience."
The squad leader curiously followed it inside the citadel, walking to the control room, it was greeted by a screen showing a short, metal humanoid figure, Metal, "General, I was informed that you wish to speak about a situation."
"Situation is too light of a word, commander. Just a few moments ago, I made an attempt to call the citadel locations on this backwater planet in this backwater dimension, but none have responded, so I sent out scout teams to investigate, what they reported back was worrisome." He showed the citadels in Paris and Egypt being occupied by S.O.R.A operatives, along with some familiar faces like Jigglypuff getting ready to sing for their victory with Luigi stopping her and Fox handing a downed Polygon soldier to Sakurai. "It appears as though these interlopers from the settlement of Hal City have once again foolishly decided to interfere with our plan, one citadel has been taken with the backup power source gone, the other destroyed with nothing left, there's only the one you command and the one I command remaining."
"Does Master Hand know of this predicament?" The squad leader asked, "Perhaps he could provide us all assistance to-"
Metal's booming voice cut it off. "None of that will be necessary! If he learns of our failure to perform the simple task of preserving our own complexes, he'll have our heads!" He said, pointing out the obvious. "In the meantime commander, remain wary of these rebels that dare to stand against us, and ensure they never draw another breath." He snarled as he cut off the transmission.
Unbeknownst to the Polygons, their enemies were closer than they realized, outside, the three landed nearby, Captain Falcon and Pikachu walked on the ground through the jungle attempting to find the citadel and Donkey Kong swung from branch to branch out of natural gorilla instinct. "Pika Pika Pi Chu Pikachu (Why'd we have to walk all the way there)?" Pikachu complained, "Pika Pi Pikachu Chu Ka Pika Pikachu (The dang thing was big enough for us all to see, so why didn't we just break it then and there)?"
"For starters, that's a terrible idea because it's predictable, it'd be what they want us to do, and it would complicate things too much." The F-Zero champion argued, then he saw DK swinging, "DK, what are you doing?"
"Don't worry about it, cap," The gorilla dismissed, "I'm in my element out here." Then he climbed on one branch and looked in the distance with narrowed eyes and saw what they were looking for, "We're close, let's get ready for a fight!" He punched his open palm and he jumped and landed on the ground.
Soon, they made it to where the citadel was and hid in the nearby bushes to avoid detection from Polygon soldiers, the F-Zero pilot narrowed his eyes and thoroughly inspected the outside, "Alright, here's the plan: I see about twenty hostiles outside, but not how many more are inside, we'll take each of them out without letting the others know, after that, we'll all strike at the main entrance. From there-" He then put on a deadpan expression, "You two already ran ahead and attacked the minute I started talking, didn't you?" His question was answered when he heard fighting noises and electricity crackling coming from the citadel as well as two familiar voices.
"Bring it on, chumps!"
"Pika Pika!"
The captain sighed and facepalmed in frustration, "Of course you did."
Now Donkey Kong and Pikachu could have stayed behind and listened to Captain Falcon's plan and well thought out plan of attack that would have used up too much time, or they could just go with their own plan, attack, and sneak attack them without warning so they could have their competition for who could beat up the most Polygon soldiers. The ape rushed up and clapped a soldier's head in between his hands, while the mouse Pokémon used Volt Tackle to take another one out. This got the attention of the other soldiers who came to inspect the commotion, and were greeted by DK and Pikachu charging at them with competitive smirks. "Bring it on, chumps!" Said the Kong.
"Pika Pika (And don't bore us)!" The mouse added as he ran up and used Iron Tail on a soldier's forehead with rock-hard force and DK picked up a soldier and slammed it into another one.
"Send for reinforcements immediately!" One soldier told another, and was then tackled by a Wild Charging Pikachu, while the other one was slammed down by Donkey Kong's palm.
"Pika (I'm at three)!" Claimed Pikachu as he then used Slam on another soldier, "Pikachu (Make that four)!"
DK grabbed another soldier into the ground then threw it at another soldier, "I'm at six already!" He boasted, "You better catch up!" Pikachu took that advice and used Double Team to use afterimage clones to take out three more soldiers.
"Pika (Seven)!" Pikachu counted as the clones disappeared. Soon, the main entrance doors opened and tanks slithered through, aiming at the two intruders, they fired but DK dodged swiftly and so did Pikachu using Quick Attack.
"You suckers need to work on your aim!" Donkey Kong joked before getting pegged in the face by a laser. Despite being partially unscathed, the gorilla still stumbled back and fell to his knee with a thud. Pikachu quickly rushed to his ally, who regained his stance, but they both looked ahead and saw a war machine that was different from the other ones they've fought, it walked on bipedal metallic legs, and armed (literally) with cannons on both sides and the pilot controlling it from the center. It fired at DK, who held his arms up to shield himself, but Pikachu used Reflect to send it back at the war machine, but these were powerful plasma blasts, and the Reflect wasn't strong enough to fully send it back.
They also saw more soldiers ganging up on them with their own guns armed and ready to fire along with the tanks behind them, but then a flaming fist struck down one of the tanks' hatches and threw the pilot out. This obtained the attention of the other soldiers, allowing for the gorilla and mouse to rejoin the fight with DK punching the walker, picking it up and throwing it at a tank and Pikachu backing his allies up with a Thunderbolt to the other tanks and soldiers, striking them down and out. Then Captain Falcon used a Falcon Kick on the one remaining tank, destroying it, then he ran up to Pikachu and Donkey Kong, who hi-fived. "Pika (Oh yeah)!" The Pokémon cheered.
"Oh yeah!" DK agreed before both of their smirks faded into nervous smiles as they saw an irritated Captain Falcon.
"What were you two thinking?!" He exclaimed, "You two just HAD to get your little competition underway, didn't you? Do you have any idea how wreckless that was?"
"Lay off, cap." DK argued, "Look on the bright side, we have less soldiers to worry about," he turned to face Pikachu, "By the way, I totally took out more soldiers than you."
"Pikachu, Pika Pika (No you didn't, I did)!" The electric Pokémon argued with a glare, "Pika Pika (Didn't you see how many I took out with that Thunderbolt)?!"
DK and Pikachu started arguing over who beat more soldiers, but the F-Zero champion wasn't having any of it as he interrupted them, "That's enough, both of you!" He yelled, gaining their attention, "It doesn't matter who took out more soldiers, we still have a citadel to destroy, war-mongering Polygons to deal with, and who knows what else, so let's focus on that first." He then gestured for them to follow him to the entrance to the citadel and they followed, albeit a little reluctantly. The captain looked at the control panel on the entrance, then at the electric Pokémon, "Pikachu," he said, getting his attention, "Do you think you can short circuit the control panel?" Pikachu only smirked at that question and ran up to the control panel to climb on and grab hold of it and then he used Charge on it, causing the door to open.
"Chu! Pika Pika (Go! I can't hold this forever)!" Pikachu yelled at them and they complied and rushed in as fast as they could. Once inside, Donkey Kong held the doors open with his strength. Seeing this, Pikachu let go of the control panel, called off the Charge, and used Quick Attack to get inside, as soon as he got in the door, DK let go of the doors and closed them.
DK gave a thumbs-up to his comrades, who returned the gesture before looking around, "Let's go." Captain Falcon whispered as he started to walk and they followed. With the lights off, it was very hard to see, so Pikachu sparked up his cheek marks to make a light inside the citadel, they noticed aircrafts and tanks, all unoccupied. They all looked around for any soldiers who could be waiting for them, but for the most part it was quiet, but maybe a little too quiet.
DK sighed, "Well this is disappointing," He said in a bored tone, "I figured there'd be more bad guys to fight in here."
"Pika Pika (Do you think the ones from outside were the only ones)?" Pikachu wondered.
"I don't think so." Captain Falcon replied, "This plus the other citadels across the world are important to their invasion, so there's no way they'd just outright abandon it with just a pocketful of soldiers guarding it."
Suddenly, Pikachu sniffed the air and his ears twitched, "Pika Pika (I think you're right)." He said as he and the other two immediately turned around into battle stances out of instinct as they heard footsteps behind them and guns loading, waiting to fire at their commander's words. The three heroes saw the squad leader and the rest of the Polygon soldiers.
"And you were correct." The squad leader answered. "And soon, you will know why any attempt at standing against us is meaningless, we have met resistance similar to yours, and you will meet their fate." It explained, "Destroy these fools, or hold them off as long as you can!" It ordered its underlings who did as they were told, the squad leader made its way to the elevator which took it downstairs.
The three heroes charged as the Polygon soldiers fired lasers at them. Eagerly, DK blocked the blasts and when he got up close, he swung his arm and smacked two soldiers into three more, then he grabbed another soldier and swung him into surrounding soldiers like a mace, then slammed the soldier he was holding into the floor. Pikachu dodged the lasers, used Thunder Wave to stun about five soldiers and got in close to use Brick Break to severely damage two of the soldiers, then used Nuzzle on another, and finished off the paralyzed soldiers with a Spark. Captain Falcon was able to dodge the lasers and pull his own pistol out to shoot some of the soldiers down, then he ran out in front, kicked a soldier's gun out of its hand, grabbed the soldier by its head and pulled its face down for a knee strike to the jaw, then followed it up with a flaming roundhouse kick to another soldier's head, then he readjusted his stance to block a soldier trying to hit him with its gun and countered it with an elbow strike to the stomach.
"This is so easy it's kind of boring." DK boasted as he crushed two soldiers between his palms.
"Yeah," Captain Falcon agreed, but was still concerned, "A little too easy, that's never a good sign."
Before DK or Pikachu could ask what he meant, the heroes felt the floor shaking beneath them, a leviathan Polygon, similar to the one from Hal City, busted out of the floor, causing the three heroes to be pushed back, the large Polygon monster, piloted by the commanding soldier who went down the elevator, flew out of the ceiling, leaving a massive hole in the roof to exit the citadel. "You whelps had the chance to surrender and abandon your pathetic attempt at rebellion!" They heard the commander shout, "Now you will watch as I use this leviathan to burn this rainforest down and rid it of its inhabitants!" It guided the leviathan into the rainforest to destroy anything and everything in its path.
"Follow them!" Captain Falcon called the Blue Falcon, which arrived fast, then the F-Zero pilot and mouse Pokémon got in the cockpit, while the tie-wearing gorilla hung on the top of the outside, then they took off after the Polygon monster, which after becoming airborne, fired a laser on the helpless rainforest, however the Blue Falcon was able to keep pace with it, not just because the Blue Falcon could go faster than your average race car, but also because it was too big to keep any real speed.
"Pika Pika (So how do we take it down)?" Pikachu asked.
"On the way to S.O.R.A HQ, Sakurai told us that there was a weak spot on its back, he said that Mario's distraction was more than enough to leave it open for Donkey Kong and me to do the necessary damage to finish it, so maybe we can try again." Captain Falcon explained.
"Or I could do this!" The ape called as he jumped off the F-Zero machine and reared his fist back.
"No! WAIT!"
The captain's objection was one second too late as DK unleashed his fist on the leviathan, only to be jolted back into the air by a sudden electric shock, and Captain Falcon managed to position the Blue Falcon to catch the kong, "Nevermind, they were definitely ready for that."
"Let's try getting its attention, and Pikachu, I'll let you off, and when I do, try and take out its thrusters." Pikachu nodded in understanding as the captain opened the hatch and lowered the Blue Falcon closer to the ground. The electric Pokémon jumped out and landed on his feet and quickly followed the Blue Falcon and the leviathan with blinding speed. The F-Zero machine zoomed in front of the leviathan.
"Hey ugly!" Donkey Kong shouted, pulling out his coconut gun while Captain Falcon opened the Blue Falcon's hatch and readied his own pistol, "Come get some!" Both heroes started firing, causing the commander to make the leviathan open fire.
Pikachu was keeping up with the leviathan at the speed of light, he bounced from tree to tree until he got close enough to the leviathan's thrusters. He used Charge, then he tossed a Thunder Ball at the thrusters, but it was stopped by a force field that appeared around it. The F-Zero pilot and gorilla saw this, "Well, so much for that plan." Captain Falcon said, a little dejected, before thinking, then putting on a confident smirk, "Alright guys, new plan." The ape and mouse listen to him, "Hit him with your strongest physical attack!" That got the two to smirk confidently. The captain then pushed the 'eject' button on the Blue Falcon, launching him out of it towards the leviathan, then Donkey Kong leaped off the tail of the F-Zero machine, and Pikachu leapt off the tree towards the leviathan's thrusters while using Wish to make his next attack stronger.
Captain Falcon reared his fist back as it ignited with fire, "Falcon…"
Donkey Kong also reared his fist back, but he kept spinning it, "Banana…"
Pikachu charged up his Iron Tail move, "Pi…Ka…"
"PUNCH!/SLAMMA!/CHUUU!"
All at once, the F-Zero champion unleashed his flaming fist on the leviathan's face, the gorilla unleashed his own fist on its jaw, and the electric Pokémon let his Iron Tail loose on its thrusters. All the attacks, despite how painful it was for the heroes being electrocuted, were all worth the shot, because it caused the leviathan to die and fall face-first into the ground below. The heroes all landed on the ground, exhausted, shortly after. The commander jumped out, only to be met by DK's fist and Pikachu's Skull Bash to the back of the head, knocking it out cold. Then all three heroes observed the aftermath of their work. "YES!" Captain Falcon flashed a smile and a thumbs up towards his allies. DK pounded his chest and cheered while Pikachu did a backflip and looked at the ape.
"Pika Pika (I guess we'll call this a tie)."
"That's fair, I guess." DK replied with a smirk, "But I'll be ready for a rematch."
"Pikachu Pika Pika (I'd be up for it)." Pikachu told the gorilla as he held out a fist bump. "Best two out of three?"
The gorilla gladly accepted the fist bump. "You're on."
The F-Zero champion couldn't help but smile at this, then he contacted Sakurai, "Director Sakurai, this is Captain Falcon. The citadel is destroyed and ready for the taking. Mission accomplished."
"Copy that, a small squad is on their way. Also, the other two teams took their citadels successfully, leaving only one."
"Thanks for the info," The captain replied, "I have faith that Mario's team will succeed."
"Me too." Sakurai responded, "Over and out." And their call ended.
The ape and mouse walked up next to the captain, "Don't worry," said DK, "We've got this!" The three shared knowing smirks as they waited for the S.O.R.A forces to arrive.
And then there was one…
And that's the end of the chapter, but it's far from the end of the story.
Take a wild guess as to who "General Metal" is.
Also, after writing this chapter, I feel like I should have switched Captain Falcon and Samus' teams, I feel like Samus would be more than able to keep DK and Pikachu in line, but i digress.
All that's left is Mario's team with Link and Kirby to complete their mission.
Again, I'm sorry I took too long to post this, and I don't know when I'll finish the next chapter. I'm still new to posting these on the internet (I know it's been a few months since I posted this story's start, but still).
