Helena had just hung up with Lupe, scheduling a visit for Friday afternoon when he phone rang again. She didn't immediately recognize the local number.
"Hello?"
"Helena, it's Gemma. Are you bringing the family to the Taste of Charming fundraiser?" Gemma always got to the point.
"Oh, hi Gemma. I was planning on it, did you need me to do something?" Helena wondered if this was a club thing she needed to be a part of.
"Not this year, I heard you might be adding to the family? First trimester is a bitch," Gemma said. Helena grimaced, damn rumor mill.
"Please don't say anything to anyone, Happy and I aren't announcing it yet. He'll be upset that you know. I do appreciate the consideration though."
"It was Tara that let something slip, she was bitchy about you changing doctors. Not that I blame you," Gemma snorted. Helena could tell that Tara was a huge sport with Gemma by her tone.
"Then I'm glad we switched, Happy didn't like her." The two women chatted a bit more before Gemma let Helena go. Maybe building a relationship with the SAMCRO matriarch would be a good idea.
When Happy got home Helena filled him in. He did indeed look pissed that Gemma knew but was looking forward to seeing his ma. Noella and Henry pulled Happy to the couch to show him their backpacks. Noella feeling much better than the other day when Happy got home.
"Carina, what time is this 'meet the teacher' shi…thing?"
"Finish up mon petits, we have to leave in fifteen minutes," Helena replied. Once the kids were in the car, Helena put their backpacks in the trunk.

Happy felt so out of place at the elementary school it was laughable. He looked around and didn't see Opie. Maybe the grades had different times or they were on the early side. Happy and Opie hadn't talked much since his release from prison. It seemed the other man had some domestic issues going on, but they did have kids in common.
"C'mon daddy." Noella grabbed his hand trying her best to pull him along.
"Easy princesa," Happy said, scoping out the school as they past different areas. He could hear Henry chatting up Helena—something about recess.
"Welcome, welcome!" An overly perky young woman said. She was a brunette of average height.
"Hello Ms. Jones," Helena said, Noellla and Henry echoing her. Happy remained silent.
"Let me guess…Beaumont?" Happy growled at that. They had done the paper work to change the kids' last name.
"Lowman," he said, giving the teacher a look. She fidgeted under his gaze.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Lowman. Noella and Henry?" The kids nodded, Noella looking around at the desks.
"You two can go find your desk and put your stuff in it while I talk to your mom and dad." The kids darted off, doing their best with the backpacks.
Ms. Jones motioned for them to sit. Happy did, wanting to pull Helena to his lap but he doubt that it was good form. She was rubbing her stomach, her tell that while she didn't need a trash can, their baby was giving her fits. He settled for intertwining their fingers.
"So the first day, next Tuesday is when we just focus on getting to know our students and getting them used to the schedule. We have two quiet times and two recesses during the day. Are they bringing their own lunches?"
"Yes," Helena said.
"What's quiet time?" Happy asked casting a glance to his kids. Another family had come in, and it looked to be a soccer family from how the kids were talking.
"We turn the lights low and the kids can rest or us a lantern to look at a book," Ms. Jones answered.
"The hell…" Happy trailed, receiving a slight elbow from his wife for language.
"Some kids need a nap still and most aren't used to a school structured schedule," Ms. Jones said standing. "Excuse me."
Happy just shrugged. It wasn't like he remembered what he did at 5. Helping Helena up, they went to get the kids. Happy was just happy he didn't have to talk to the other parents. Henry and Noella said goodbye to their friend.
"Daddy, I think you scared Ms. Jones." Happy scooped up his daughter, while taking Helena's free hand; Henry holding the other.
"You think so baby girl?" He asked, eyeing the semi-crowded hallway.
"Si, she did this," Noella made a face, making Happy chuckle.
"No, like this," Henry made his own face, getting the same chuckle from Happy.
"Ok hijos, let's go," Happy said, deciding not to add fuel to the fire.
"Hap!" Opie's voice made him turn.
"Opie," Happy gave a head nod.
"This your old lady and kids?" Opie was slightly apart from his family. Donna looked upset at having to interact with a club member.
"Oh you must be Donna, it's nice to meet another mother," Helena graciously said. Donna relaxed slightly at that.
"Sure, I didn't get your name," Donna said placing her hands on Kenny and Ellie's shoulders.
"Helena, and this is Henry and Happy's holding Noella," Helena extended her hand. Donna shook it.
"Kenny and Elli, 10 and 9," Donna said, each kid going a small wave.
"Ours are five, almost 6. Will you be at the Taste of Charming?" Henry slipped out of her hand to walk to Kenny.
"For a bit, you?" Donna still looked upset at anything to do with SAMCRO.
"Yes, some family time but mostly the last big thing before school."
Happy watched Helena talk to Donna out of the corner of his eye. His woman was some kind of people whisperer. It would be good if the women could be friends, he knew Helena had been wanting to make some friends but none of the soccer moms had really clicked with her; beyond being able to make playdates. It would do Opie good as well, make coming back more fully into the club easier.
"Is this one a daddy's girl?" Opie asked him, playfully pinching Noella's foot making her giggle.
"Je suis sa princesse," Noella said, impressing Happy. He didn't know Helena had been working on their French. (I'm his princess)
"What?" Opie asked.
"Ella es mi princesa," Happy nodded, just to tease Opie. (She is my princess).
"Damn Hap, all I got is princess," Opie groaned.
"Welcome to our family," Happy deadpanned making Noella laugh.
"Opie, it's getting late," Donna said, sliding her phone back in her pocket.
"Alright babe. See ya Saturday brother," Opie gave the best bro hug he could around Noella.
Happy tucked Helena under his arm, internally chuckling when Henry grasped his wallet chain so he could talk to his sister. He wasn't a PTA dad or classroom volunteer, but he would be one that was involved in his kid's education. He suspected Helena would shank him in his sleep if he wasn't. Hell, him and Opie could commiserate together over being girl dads.
