The footage begins with muffled conversation, the audio distorted as if recorded inside a metal pipe. The HUD displays both the date and time as "N/A." A line of code reads "current status: idle," while a battery symbol shows a slight drain, indicating it's at 89%.
"You sure this thing will find it? For all we know, it could be hiding out in the forest," says the brown-haired man.
"It would be good to just get a lay of the land," replies a man with a buzz cut.
"We already know what the land looks like—we have a map. Plus, we don't want to risk losing our only Spot. These things are expensive, and losing one could get us reprimanded," the brown-haired man responds.
"We need to find that thing and see if there are more of them. They could pose a threat to us. Also, the map for this area is probably outdated; it showed we'd need to take a right to get here, but I reviewed the footage, and we were driving in a straight line," the man with the buzz cut insists. "And don't worry, I've linked the camera to the Mac, so it shows me what it sees."
The brown-haired man hesitates but ultimately caves. The sound of keyboard clacking is heard, and the line of code now reads "current status: non_combat_explore" as the robot begins to move down the road.
After 10 minutes of running, the robot reaches a crossroads and takes a right, leading to a collapsed tunnel. It then turns around and takes the other road. Another 10 minutes later, the robot arrives at a clearing where it spots several white buildings. The area seems occupied, as a strange creature, resembling the one that scanned their bunker, stands outside one of the buildings, looking at what appears to be a phone.
The creature notices the robot as it begins to move into the camp but quickly turns and rushes back toward the bunker. The HUD now reads "current status: non_combat_return." As the robot retreats, the creature gives chase, yelling in a strange, gurgling noise similar to the one heard on the radio. Despite the pursuit, the robot makes it back to the bunker in a speedy 16 minutes.
As the robot returns, the two men are seen pacing nervously, clearly shaken by what they've just witnessed through the dog's camera. The line on the HUD changes back to "current status: idle," followed by "current status: powering_off" as the footage ends.
