A Proposal To Remember

Hello ladies and gentlemen! So we are now heading into the last couple of chapters and in this next chapter we will see how RDJ and Lila talk about the proposal. Everyone is invited to the local bar when revealing the news. A few police officers volunteer to do the security guard work while the others are out at the bar! Anyway, without any further interruptions…Let's get beck to it!

For a split second, RDJ's eyes widened in complete shock after hearing her say this to him. He needed to hear it a second time to be sure that he wasn't dreaming.

"What…What did you just say?" RDJ was taken a back by this response. Only because he didn't really ask the question that he wanted to ask.

"I said yes. I will marry you RDJ." Lila smiled dreamily at his beloved.

"Oh, well I…" RDJ paused and scratched the beck of his head.

"Ooooh no! I stole your big moment! Oh god, I am such a fucking an idiot!" Lila felt terrible all of a sudden, shaking her head side to side.

"No! No no! I…I was gonna ask! I…I just needed to make it clear that if you didn't want to right away…" He stuttered awkwardly, feeling fairly embarrassed that he wasn't able to be the first one to ask the question.

"Honey. I know that getting married is a big thing. And maybe it wasn't the first thing on my mind. But…I think I'm ready." The blue macaw girl grinned widely at him.

"Are you sure? Because we can wait. I don't want to go into something too soon if you aren't one hundred percent ready." RDJ asked for reassurance from the girl he was so ready to settle down and raise a family with.

"I'm sure. Now please, let's do this right!" Lila giggled softly, as RDJ took and deep breath.

"Okay! Here goes nothing." The blue eyed man cleared his throat and pulled an item out of his pocket. Then he slowly got down on one knee and had to shuffle his foot along to get into a more comfortable position. "Haaa, so. Lila…Will you please do me the honour. Lila, will you marry me?" RDJ opened up the box he had in his hand, revealing a diamond engagement ring in a silk box.

"Ooooh RDJ! Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!" Lila wept in joy as she extended her hand. Then he took the ring out from the box and slid it onto her ring finger.

RDJ then used his walking cane to lift himself up onto his feet, holding onto her hand as his smile widened.

"So…We are really doing this?" Lila was so giddy that she couldn't contain her excitement.

"We really are!" RDJ answered with much excitement himself, as his heart was beating rapidly with so much joy.

"I love you!" She cooed lovingly, completely forgetting that she accidentally dropped her cane.

"I love you more!"

"I love you times infinity!"

"I love you times infinity and one!" RDJ leaned in and passionately kissed his new fiancé on the beak. Exploring as much of the inside of each others beaks with their tongues colliding.

After a few seconds of them passionately kissing, they departed from the kiss. Trying to gain their much needed oxygen back.

"Oh my good lord! We're getting married! I have a fiancé!" Lila squealed giddily like a school girl. Jumping up and down on the spot on her one foot. Considering her thigh was obviously unable to match the same energy. "We gotta start planning!"

"Sure! But, you know that my dad has no interest in my life. So I have no other blood relatives." RDJ explained with a serious look.

"Well, my dad was never in my life to begin with. And my mom is always working abroad in another country. So it would be difficult getting them out here."

"Any siblings?"

"Nope. Lonely child."

"Okay. So the guest list so far is narrowed down to about eleven." The blue and gold macaw rolled his eyes and smirked.

"Who are the eleven?" Lila cocked her head to the side in confusion.

"Let's see. There's Blu, Jewel, Pedro, Sofia, Nico, Lillian, Nath, Skyler,, Zeek. Georgia and maybe Kipo?"

"What about Lexi and her son?" Lila pointed out that he missed out two of the options.

"She said she was going to move away in a year or so. Most likely they won't be able to make it. Her words not mine!" The blue and gold man smiled at her.

"Who the hell is Georgia anyway?" She clearly had no idea who she was.

"Zeek's girlfriend. I guess that narrows down the number of beaks to feed." Both of them nodded their heads. "Plus, I think I'll choose Zeek to be my best man."

"Not Blu?" The blue girl was a little surprised by this.

"He has been my close friend growing up Lila. Plus, we kinda shook on it when we were teens that we would both be best man at each other's weddings. And as you know, I do take my promises very seriously."

"So I can tell! Oooh! I know exactly who I am gonna pick to be my maid of honour!"

"Jewel?"

"Nope."

"Lillian?"

"Nope!"

"Skyler?"

"I barely know her."

"Then who?" RDJ got tired of listing all the possibilities. Especially since he wanted to know who she intended on inviting to their wedding.

"Someone who I grew up with many years ago! But anyway, before we do get into that. I think we should message the others and tell them to meet us in the bar in an hour. So we can give them the news!" Lila beamed with the brightest grin on her beak. "We are getting married! We are getting married!" She chanted a couple of times with a lot of enthusiasm. Making her fiancé chuckle, kissing her on the head.

"Great idea! I'll call Kipo and tell him to come back here and pick us up." RDJ pulled out his cell phone to make the call. And Lila pulled out her cell phone to message the others to meet them at their local bar.

Who by at this point, mag have been getting rid of the prisoners from their rooms.

Let's See How They Are Doing…

"I'M UN-WASHABLE! UN-RINSABLE! LIKE AN ABANDONED SCHOOL, I HAVE NO PRINCIPLE!" The cockatoo prisoner was screaming down the hallway, as four police officers were holding onto him with tight straps to prevent his escape.

"Yeah yeah Nigel! Just get on the bus superstar reject!" The police officers dragged him onto the prisoner bus. Chaining him down to the bar in front of his seats like the rest of them were already strapped in.

"Ughhh thank fuck! That guy was getting too damn annoying!" Jewel rolled her eyes and out a hand on her hip. "Although, he does have a very good singing voice."

"He was a huge star many years ago. But of course, fame can sometimes get to your head if you aren't too careful." The police captain responded with a nod. "Sorry about Malcom. Don't worry, when we find that son of a bitch, he is going down for this."

"Yeah. I'm sure he is." Lexi made a slight joke, not that the others heard what she said of course.

"Anyway, all the paperwork is finished. We will be driving away and getting out of your space."

"Thank you officer. Oh and by the way, thank you for having three of your officers volunteer to watch the hospital tonight." Blu added as he shook hands with him.

"Don't be silly. Considering psychopaths always end up coming beck here every three years. You do need to have sone much needed time off every now and then." He nodded once more. "Good night Mr Gunderson."

"Chief." Blu patted him on the shoulder before they both walked their separate ways. "Haaaa, thank Christ that's all over!"

"You're telling me! Next time you plan to bring prisoners here, a little extra warning next time would be great." Lillian rolled her eyes as she was sat up on a table next to Nico. "How about the budget?"

"Well, due to the circumstances that we nearly got killed a second time in three years. They let us keep the money to help upgrade the hospital. Maybe even have a self security front gate. So if someone tries to break in again, we could tranquillise them. Then we call the cops and have them arrested." Blu responded as his wife gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"Now…Hold on a minute…" Jewel was about to say something, but soon her cell phone vibrated in her pocket. "Huh…Lila just text me?"

"What did she…" Blu then felt his phone vibrate and he took a look at his notifications. "RDJ messaged me? He wants us to meet him at the local bar?"

"That's what Lila just messaged me? Why do they want us to meet them at the bar?"

"Hmmm, he said that he has sone big new…" Blu spoke the last few words very quietly, then paused for a second to process what was going on. Then, he kind of had an idea of what the news could be. But dared not to say anything to the others. "Big new cell phone! Yeah, must have been saving for a while."

"Hmmm, well we should still go and meet them." Nathaniel was the next to speak up. "If they asked us to go and meet them, then it has to be something important? Otherwise, why else would they ask us to meet them?"

"Maybe you are right. Okay! Everyone) we are meeting RDJ and Lila at the bar! Get showered, dressed and be down here in thirty minutes!" Jewel was very bossy ordering everyone around. But because Pedro, Nico, Blu and Lillian were terrified of her. They instantly went to their rooms to get ready. Along with the others who only did what the others did to follow instructions.

Lexi however remained at the asylum with her son. She wanted to rest after all the pressure she had been out through that day.

Plus, she kinda had a feeling as to why the others had been invited out to the bar.

Now Let's Check On RDJ And Lila…

"Ooooh honey! Let's see that bling again!" In the local bar that everyone always goes to hang out in their spare time. Lila was sat at one of the booths with Zeek and who could only be assumed to be his girlfriend Georgia. A beautiful yellow macaw girl who was sat opposite of the purple eyed macaw.

"Georgie, I showed you twice already." She giggled softly and rolled her eyes.

"I know, it's just sooo pretty!" She excitedly gazed at the ring on her finger again. "Oooh wow! Your boyfriend/fiancé has great taste!"

"He does doesn't he? Ooooh I am so lucky! I feel like I'm Belle from Beauty And The Beast!" She dreamily gazed at her husband to be, who was currently at the bar ordering drinks for everyone. "Are you sure that the new guy is safe running the bar tonight Zeek?"

"What? Leo? He's a good guy. But he still has a lot to learn." He remarked at the fact that the young orange macaw man was serving RDJ two bottles of champagne along with a dozen empty glasses. "Leo?! Not the cheap stuff! Give him the Don Perignon Vintage Brut 2013."

"But that's over $280 per bottle?" He called back d he took out the expensive bottles of champagne.

"We are celebrating my best friend getting engaged! Not going to my cousin's birthday party." Zeek answered and clicked his fingers. "Put it on the house!"

"On the house you say? You know that you and I have always been such close friends bro?" A drunk parakeet man slurred his speech. Trying to get a free drink from the bar.

"Chris, I am not giving you a drink for free! You already owe me $200 from last week!" He narrowed his eyes and grumbled at him in annoyance.

"Relax Zeek! I'll get the money when my ex wife gives me the rent!"

"Chris, you got kicked out of her house last week! All because you refused to pay THEM the rent you owe them."

"Whatever! I'm gonna take a leak!" Chris mumbled and slurred, kicking the door down of the men's bathroom.

"Ughhhh! I am totally gonna bar that guy eventually." Zeek remarked and shook his head. "Have you guys decided on a date yet?"

"Zeek! They only just got engaged the two of them. I don't think a date and time will he established until both of then feel like it should be decided." Georgia beamed and gave him a little tap on the back of his head.

"It's okay. We haven't decided on a potential date yet Zeek. However, choosing the guest list won't be a problem." Lila confidently responded as RDJ put the tray of glasses and two bottles of champagne on the table in front of them.

"What won't be a problem?" RDJ questioned, as he only had just joined in on the current conversation between the three of them.

"The guest list for the wedding." Lila reminded him with a smile on her beak so wide, that she was filled with butterflies and excitement.

"Oh yeah. So it's only going to be close friends and family in the wedding. We don't want to make it too big of a party."

"Short and sweet like Blu and Jewel's wedding. They only invited like seven people." Lila pointed out, defending their choice to only have such a small guest list.

"Oh dear. Well, I'm sure the ceremony will be beautiful! Who will perform it?" Zeek asked with just enthusiasm.

"I could do it?" All four of them turned around to face a very nosey Leo, eavesdropping on their entire conversation.

"You? Are you qualified?" RDJ rose an eyebrow in curiosity.

"Yep! I perform weddings part time in the summer for extra cash after completing the form online to be a verified minister."

"Well, it is definitely something we will consider, thank you." Lila nodded and proceeded to carry on with their conversation, as Leo got back to work. "So that's one potential problem solved! How about the catering?"

"I can ask if the caterer from Blu and Jewel's wedding could do ours? Supposedly, Jewel said it was the best food they've ever tasted." RDJ remarked with confidence.

"Great! Now that only leaves the music…"

"Nico and Pedro would be the perfect choice! They do a lot of DJ set ups for friends we know every now and then." Georgia pointed out the case.

"Then Nico and Pedro it shall be! Now there's just a few things left to agree on, then it's all sorted out!" Lila was so excited that she couldn't control her own body, that she was jumping up and down on her seat.

"Are you giving a lap dance to the seat?" The blue and gold man joked, realising the way she was moving.

"Awww, you a little jealous baby?" Lila purred seductively, shimmying her boobs for him. Making him bite the bottom of his beak, blushing a bright pink.

"Maybe a little…" He responded with a suave tone, sitting down besides her and putting his arm around her lovingly. "I can't wait to be married to you."

"I can't wait to be married to you!" She answered back with a few tears of joy rolling down her cheeks.

"Awwwwww! You guys are just too cute together!" Georgia was so happy to see how close the two of them were. Especially now that they were planning to tie the knot.

Suddenly, the front door of the bar was held open by the spoonbill Kipo again. Only this time he was wearing some casual clothes as requested by Blu. After he called him and told him to meet everyone else at the bar.

Blu, Jewel, Nico, Lillian, Pedro, Sofia, Nathaniel, Skyler and Kipo were all wearing smart and casual clothing for the evening ahead. And they all came in and greeted the others.

Lila his her hand with the ring behind her back in order to surprise the others.

"Hey, so…what's the big surprise that you wanted us to come down here for?" Lillian gave her good friend a hug, whilst Blu and Nathaniel were giving RDJ fist bumps.

"Please do sit down guys! We have some…news to share with everyone!" Lila remarked excitedly, standing up with her boyfriend. As everyone else apart from Leo sat down and gave their full attention to the couple standing in front of them.

"So? What's the big news guys?" Sofia sat on the edge of the seat, fanning her face with one of the menus.

"Well…" Both RDJ and Lila simultaneously spoke and looked at each I other briefly, before smiling rudely and took a deep breath before announcing their news together. "WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!"

"OOOOH MY GOOOD! AAAAAH!" Everyone couldn't hold in their excitement from such big and beautiful news. So much so that they jumped up from their seats and took it in turns hugging the newly engaged couple.

"Congratulations guys!" Blu spoke with a wide grin.

"Way to go you two!" Nico spoke as he gave RDJ a hug.

"I'm so happy for the both of you!" Skyler smiled and hugged Lila.

"Never had a doubt that you'd get hitched at some point!" Pedro added and gave RDJ a fist bump.

"Thank you everyone! It means so much that you all could come here and celebrate this with us!" RDJ smiled and finished giving hugs to all of his friends.

"Of course bro! Now, let's pop the champagne and pour everyone a gla…No no no! Not you Chris!" The parakeet man tried to sneak a glass of the champagne. But soon security grabbed him and proceeded to kick him out of the bar.

"God damnit!" He cursed in frustration, as he was thrown out of the bar with no problem at all.

"Right, now that's been dealt with! We can finally start the celebrations! Leo, you do one of the bottles. And I shall do the other." Zeek ordered his associate, who nodded his head and popped the cork out of the bottle. Pouring some of the champagne out into the empty glasses.

Zeek popped the other cork and poured several more glasses of champagne. And pretty soon everyone took a glass, and Jewel decided to make a toast.

"Well, I would like to propose a toast to our beloved friends! May they be happy and blessed in their upcoming marriage! To RDJ and Lila!" Jewel declared the toast whilst raising her glass.

"TO RDJ AND LILA!" Everyone chorused in response and rose their glasses, followed by dipping on their champagne and then talking amongst themselves.

As everyone was having their own conversations, Pedro was sat opposite of RDJ and Lila next up his best friend Nico. And as he was drinking his champagne, he realised that Sofia was bending over one of the chairs and you could see her seductively grinning at him.

RDJ noticed this and whispered in front of him. "It appears that she is crazy about you!"

Pedro barely responded verbally, but he did blush a light pink when thinking about her. Especially in a sexual as well as romantic manner.

"I can't believe the two of you are finally going to get married! Please, tell us all of the details RDJ!" Lillian was so keen to hear about the magical moment of how the blue w d gold macaw man proposed to his soon to be wife. "How did it happen? Where did it happen? How long have you planned this?"

"Haha, easy there baby bird! I'm pretty sure that he might be a little bit overwhelmed from all of the sudden questions." Nico chimed in and kissed her on the cheek. Both of them seemed to be in a really happy mood.

I wonder why…

"No no it's all good Nico! Well let's see…" RDJ wanted to my answer all of the questions in reverse order "I was planning to ask her…after we had that really beautiful week away in The Caribbean…"

"Ooooh I loved that vacation! Especially that incredible beach barbecue!" Lila sighed whilst remembering that incredible week.

"It happened in the cemetery where my mom and sister had been laid to rest. And, Lila pretty much knew what I was going to ask her." With that last part she smirked and rolled her eyes.

"You kinda made it blatantly obvious with all of the rambling on that you were doing." Lila giggled and blushed a really bright purple uncontrollably.

"You know, it doesn't matter how it happened! What matters is the two of you are going to be so happy together." Lillian remarked and smiled warmly at her. "So, when is the big day?"

"We haven't set a date yet. But we will start planning it as soon as possible." The blue eyed man replied with some confidence.

"Haven't you two even got a clue about all of the wedding planning?" Jewel finally joined in on their conversation. "Georgia told us you have the catering, music and guest list sorted already. But what about the venue? The after party? What cake flavour do you want? Picking the bridesmaids and groomsmen?"

"Woah there Jewel! All of that will come in time. We are just going to spend today celebrating our engagement. Then we will start planning as we go along." Lila leaned on her fiancé's shoulder, as he wrapped his arm around her.

"True. But, do you at least know what song the two of you are going to have your first dance to?"

"We haven't really got a song Jewel. But, if there is one that just feels right. Then that is the song that we are going to pick! But it has to be what we both feel is right." RDJ gazed deeply into Lila's bright purple eyes with so much love. That every time he laid his eyes upon her he felt like his heart was melting.

"If you say so." Jewel smirked and then poured herself another glass of champagne. "How about the honeymoon?"

"Well…I know that Lila has been so keen to visit Jamaica one day?"

"RDJ! I thought that you wanted to visit America?"

"I know honey. But when we didn't make it to Jamaica during our trip to the Caribbean, you were so disappointed!" He brushed his hand on top of hers.

"We can always go there again? I'd quite like to visit New York?" Lila suggested to him, making him nod his head.

"Not too bad of a suggestion, my beautiful bride to be!" He kissed her on the cheek.

"Oooh! Who is going to be your best man?" Blu asked the all important question, as you could tell from the way in which he asked such a sensitive question. It was suggested that he was hoping that he got chosen.

"Actually, that position has already been filled." RDJ awkwardly answered him, scratching the back of his head.

"What? By who?" Pedro and Nico both chimed at the same time, as they two had joined the group talk.

"Sorry guys! But I promised Zeek when we were kids that if I ever got married, he would be my best man. And vice versa!" He beamed and patted the yellow macaw man on the shoulder.

"Ahhh that's fair enough! You gotta honour the commitment, no matter how long ago it may or may not have been." The man red crested cardinal nodded his head.

"Thanks guys! Now can we please get some more drinks over here? This was supposed to be a celebration. Not a get together!"

"Coming right up sir!" Leo called out and he grabbed another bottle of champagne.

"Leo! You can call me RDJ. You don't have to call me sir!" He replied and put his thumbs up towards him.

"No problem RDJ!"

The orange macaw man brought over another bottle of champagne and put it down on the table. "Okay dude, we have to charge for this one, because that would mean I'd be down $600." Zeek panicked after Leo popped the cork out of the bottle.

"No problem. We can all chip in $20! Besides, we can just go straight on to other drinks after this!" Sofia confirmed as everybody nodded their heads in agreement. With everyone apart from Zeek and Leo taking out $20 to pay for the champagne.

"Thanks guys! Now, let me see if I can get the jukebox up and running." Leo took the €200 and put it away in the cash register. Then he strolled on over to the jukebox in the corner of the bar to get it up and running.

"Dude, when are you gonna get a speaker and Itunes or Spotify connected to it?" Pedro asked with a look full of confusion.

"I've been meaning to get them. But I've just been so busy lately that I haven't had the time." The yellow man chuckled in embarrassment.

"Well don't worry about it dude! When Pedro and I used to be in the club business, we have a garage full of our old equipment. Might be a few years older than some of the modern tech. But they still work good and the speakers will be powerful." Nico explained and gave the key to Pedro. "Pedro, go to our garage about ten minutes away from here and bring it back so we can set it up for him."

"Just do it tomorrow bro! Now, I believe it is…" Just as Zeek was about to finish his sentence. Leo finally got the jukebox going. And the first song that came on…was a song that both RDJ and Lila felt like was just right for them.

"Oh my god! I love this song!" Both RDJ and Lila simultaneously spoke at the same time.

Then they briefly turned to face each other lovingly, then narrowed their eyes at each other lovingly.

"I think we just found our song?" RDJ rhetorically asked her, as he stood up and extended his hand.

"I think we did!" Lila stood up and took hold of his hand.

The blue and gold man escorted her over to the dance floor. And he instantly held onto her waist. Even though his foot was in a lot of agony, he didn't care. Because being with his future wife, was all he needed in this moment.

Lila had to wrap her arms around the back of his neck to hold herself up. But the alcohol in her system prevented her from getting too achy in her thigh.

As they swayed along to the music, RDJ had his head pressed up against hers. Both of their chests were pressed together. As they blissfully closed their eyes and looked so happy and in love.

Everyone in the booth couldn't help but sigh in happiness at the soon to be married couple. You could really feel how they were so proud of them.

"You know what you guys? Let's leave these two lovebirds to enjoy their engagement. We can take a few of these bottles and come back to the office and have a few more glasses." Blu suggested to the others. As all of them apart from Zeek and Georgia nodded their heads. As both yellow macaws had to stay in their bar.

One by one they all slipped out the back entrance so that they weren't to be noticed when leaving the bar.

RDJ leaned up from her head and brushed his hand through her purple hair. As she nuzzled her face into his hand. "You are so beautiful. How did I get so lucky?" He dreamily whispered, kissing her lovingly on the beak.

"Mmmm RDJ. I feel like I'm in a dream! But I'm so lucky that every day my dream is a reality. Because you are my one true love." Lila wept a few tears, as he wiped her face with his hand.

"And you are my soul mate Lila. I'm crazy about you!"

"I'm crazy about you too!"

Once more they leaned in and passionately kissed each other. Even when the song was coming to an end, they didn't want to stop their dancing. So instead of just stopping when the song was finished, they just carried on swaying. Whilst the songs began to play as they danced the night away.

Aaaaah, isn't that a romantic way for RDJ to propose to Lila? They even have their first dance song at their wedding ready! It appears that the happy couple will have a lot of planning to do. The others will surely be discussing what their future plans would be like. Plus you will also find out where Lexi and her son have been! Anyway, I'll see you all soon for the next chapter!
