Bella was trying to hold back the tears as the doctor told her the devastating news. She had gone to the doctor straight away when she found the blood droplets in the tissue, and was finally getting the results.

She hadn't told anyone that she had been as she didn't want to worry anyone and would tell them if something came up. She knew this time she would have to tell the family and couldn't even begin to imagine how to tell them.

"How many months do I have?" Bella croaked, trying to find the words was proving to be difficult. The doctor looked at Bella with sympathy, he had known Bella since she was young and having to relay the news that had stage 4 Lung cancer was something he never wanted to tell anyone.

"Bells, you could have a month or two, if you started chemo , it could prolong it to maybe six months" He said. Doctor Stanley was an older man with grey hair, glasses and dark skin , his daughter was Jessica who was married to Jacob so telling the news to someone like family was making him teary especially the fact that Charlie was also one of his long term best friends.

Bella nodded, she didn't want to go through chemo again, she didn't want to put her family through this. Her heart shattered as she started to process the news more clearly that she would need to break the news to Paul. She had learnt her lesson this time though and was to keep no secrets. As she departed the doctors office the tears began to spill, as she ruffled for her phone in her bag she knew she had to tell Paul now before breaking the news to everyone else.

Bella dialed his number and he answered straight away "Bella baby what's up, you ok?" Paul asked his wife, she never really called him at work unless there was an emergency or one of the kids needed something.

Bella tried to remain strong in her voice, though she knew he could read her like a book.

"Can you meet me at the house as soon as possible?" Bella whispered. Paul's stomach had sunk he knew by the sound of her voice something was wrong, real wrong. He agreed and told the boys he needed to leave the job they all said ok but the look of concern was clear on their faces.

Paul had reached their home right near the beach and saw his wife on the porch on their hanging swing looking defeated. He ran to her eloping his arms around her as she dropped her body into his and the tears started to flow.

"Baby, what's wrong" Paul asked Bella gently once she started to regain more of herself from the tears. Bella looked into his warm brown eyes which were showing concern and had to let it out.

"Paul, I went to the doctors because I had blood in my cough from last week" She started " And the results came back in today, its stage 4 Lung cancer" her voice had turned into a soft whisper, however Paul still heard what she said and he couldn't believe the words that had spilt out of her delicate mouth.

How could his beautiful healthy Bella after everything she had been through in her early years have stage 4 Lung cancer, if he was still a wolf he would've phased and howled till he could no longer breathe, however he knew he had to be strong not only for Bella, but for their 3 children.

"It's okay, are you gonna do chemo?"Paul said eventually soothing Bella while stroking her back as she the tears were still coming down her face. She shook her head.

"No Paul, I can't do it again" Bella whispered

Paul felt the disappointment inside him, he wanted her to fight, fight for him, fight for the family but he knew it would also pain the family to see her disorientate, he had seen it with his own mum.

Paul tried to hold back his tears, but he felt the tears start to stream down his face.

Suddenly there was footsteps coming from the road, as Paul looked to see his three kids coming down from the bus "fuck" he muttered as he still held onto a sobbing Bella, time must have gone quick because school was already finished.

Lake was the first to reach them as Blaze and Nora were bickering about something that had happened on the bus.

"What's wrong?"Lake asked his parents as he looked at them with concern in his eyes, even though he was eight he was quite wise for his age.

The other two had reached their parents on the porch and stopped in their tracks seeing the sadness in both of their parents eyes.

"Why don't you three go inside get settled and we will share the news at the dinner table" Paul said sternly, the father in he came out and he knew he had to be strong for them all especially Bella, he couldn't imagine the pain she would be feeling to tell her children that she only had a matter of months left to live.

The kids all nodded, and Nora felt a pain she had never felt before, she knew the news that was going to be told to them was going to be life changing and she didn't know if she was ready for it.

Eventually Paul and Bella got up, straightened themselves up, wiping their tears from each other with their sleeves, Paul giving Bella a kiss on the lips "We've got this" he whispered in her ear before eventually the both went inside the house to the dinner table where the three kids were already sitting nervously waiting for the dreaded news.

The parents sat at both ends, as they looked into each of their children's eyes who were nervousness and fear.

"So, what's going on?" Nora started, her voice croaking and dull, not wanting to know the news but deep down it was vital.

"Your mum is sick"Paul began , he knew Bella didn't have the courage so he took the lead.

"How sick?" Blaze asked

"Very sick" Paul replied, he then looked into his wife's eyes giving her the nod to break the news of what it was that she had

"I've got stage 4 Lung cancer"Bella eventually said, as she looked into all the eyes of her children.

For a few minutes there was nothing but silence, you could only hear the waves from the beach as they crashed against the rocks, then the tears started to burst from all their faces.

"What does that mean mom?" Nora asked her mom as she tried to hold her tears back, she was going to be sixteen in a weeks time but the news made her not want to celebrate or do anything at all.

"It means we are going to celebrate life everyday and make it count" Bella said as she grabbed her daughters hand while mustering a smile. Bella was trying to be brave, if not for herself, her kids.

However this did not sit with Nora,as she flinched her hand away from Bella, got up and ran out the house, she just kept running till she was in the forest , running and running to she found a rock and just cried, cried till she eventually passed out not noticing the shadow figure watching her..
