Chapter 52: sometimes

AL-JALIL / AL-JALEEL (The Majestic One)

"And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor."— (Qur'an 55:27)

"And when Moses arrived at Our appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he said, 'My Lord, show me [Yourself] that I may look at You.' [Allah] said, 'You will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it should remain in place, then you will see Me.' But when his Lord appeared to the mountain, He rendered it level, and Moses fell unconscious. And when he awoke, he said, "Exalted are You! I have repented to You, and I am the first of the believers.'"— (Qur'an 7:143)

The All-Majestic is an attribute only Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ can attain. What does it mean to be absolutely majestic? It means you have complete knowledge, strength, sovereignty, wealth, power, and dominion, among all the other attributes. His majesty is unique and immeasurable. It bears no resemblance to anything past, present, or future.

Recognizing Allah as Al-Jalil fosters humility, gratitude, and inspires individuals to strive for excellence and ethical behavior, providing inner peace and strengthening faith. This understanding enhances spiritual growth and emotional well-being, promoting a harmonious and morally guided life.

Since the success of the election app and its subsequent influence on the educational system, the world population is divided into nine classes, which sometimes have overlapping duties and responsibilities.

Nonetheless, each class is interconnected and must function harmoniously for the SS to thrive and potentially survive the Great Collapse, which scientists worldwide predict will occur in the near future. Hence, each class is determined to create the perfect future that the next generation will need to protect.

In this quest, powerful organizations and individuals have turned to genetic engineering to produce the ideal humans who will ensure the world's survival and achieve the original goal of the election app's founders: to become a Type 3 civilization and conquer the universe, expanding the human race beyond the Milky Way galaxy.

Emi and her friends exited Squad 13 after the long training ended. Haru looked back at Rukia and felt grateful that she had unknowingly calmed their friend's mental breakdown after her Yuino was announced.

Emi also looked back at Rukia, and her prejudice was slightly lifted. Although she still resented Rukia's aloofness and undeserved privileges, she somehow understood that people cope with their situations differently. While Emi demanded attention, Rukia, ironically, seemed to be isolating herself.

Initially, Rukia's cold demeanor had rubbed Emi the wrong way, and she had felt repulsed by Rukia's similarity to Kuchiki Byakuya, who had looked down on their clan several times. Byakuya had usurped their territories and humiliated them by promptly declining their marriage proposal and marrying a commoner, making their family a laughing stock during tea parties.

Emi knew the history of the clan's humble beginnings as merchant nomads who climbed the ranks through economic, military, and political machinations, as well as their involvement in the Soul King's attempted assassination—a scandal that brought curses upon several clans, including the Kumamora and Ise clans.

This was a grave secret known only to powerful clans, as any leak to the public would result in the responsible parties being instantly annihilated by the four greatest noble clans of Soul Society.

Sajin Komamura was born into a clan with a long and storied history, but his early life was marked by a deep sense of shame and isolation. His family had once been prominent figures in the world of spirits, known for their powerful spiritual abilities and their role in protecting their realm. However, as time passed, they fell into obscurity, overshadowed by more influential families. The weight of this fallen status burdened Komamura, who felt he lived in the shadows of his ancestors.

Despite his immense spiritual power and dedication to the protection of his realm, Komamura struggled with the stigma of his family's diminished status. He felt that he could never truly escape the shadow of his family's past and decided to leave them behind in search of a place where he could find his own identity and purpose.

Komamura's journey led him to many places, but his reputation as a powerful and enigmatic warrior soon reached the ears of Shigekuni Yamamoto, the head captain of the Gotei 13. Recognizing his potential and the injustice of his isolation, Yamamoto extended an invitation to Komamura, even though he was not Human. Yamamoto saw the value in Komamura's strength and character and welcomed him into the Gotei 13.

One afternoon, while resting in a secluded grassy area within the Soul Society, Komamura was approached by Kaname Tōsen, who was guided only by his keen spiritual senses due to his blindness. Tōsen was initially confused about Komamura's location, but he quickly recognized Komamura's ability to remain hidden, a skill Tōsen had never encountered before.

Tōsen's voice broke the silence. "Forgive me, but I sense a powerful presence nearby. Are you here?"

Komamura's deep voice responded, "Yes, I am here. I have been here all along, but I prefer not to be seen."

Tōsen smiled slightly. "Your ability to hide your presence is remarkable. I have never met anyone whose presence I couldn't sense, despite my blindness. You must possess extraordinary skill."

Komamura felt a rare warmth in his chest at Tōsen's words. "Thank you. It is the first time someone has seen me for more than just my appearance. I have often felt like an outcast."

Tōsen's expression softened. "We are all outcasts in one way or another. It is our strength and our will that define us, not how others perceive us."

As Komamura settled into his role within the Gotei 13, he met several key figures, including Tōsen and, eventually, Sosuke Aizen. Through Tōsen's introduction, Komamura came to know Aizen, a charismatic yet enigmatic figure whose influence would grow significantly.

During a meeting of the Gotei 13 captains, Komamura was present when Isshin Shiba, the captain of the 10th Division, reported on a mysterious Hollow and a series of events occurring in Naruki City. The meeting was tense, and Komamura listened intently, recognizing the gravity of the situation and the importance of the captains working together to address the threat.

Isshin Shiba addressed the gathered captains. "There have been disturbing reports from Naruki City. A powerful Hollow has appeared, causing significant trouble. We need to address this issue promptly."

Komamura, standing tall among his peers, spoke with a firm but respectful tone. "Captain Shiba, I am ready to assist in any way necessary. The safety of the realm must come first."

Aizen, observing the proceedings with a calculating gaze, nodded slightly. "Indeed, the cooperation of all captains is essential. We must ensure that this threat is contained swiftly."

Komamura, while participating in these discussions, felt a sense of belonging that he had long sought. Though his past was marked by shame and struggle, the camaraderie and mutual respect he found among the Gotei 13 provided him with a renewed sense of purpose and acceptance.

In the end, Sajin Komamura's journey from an outcast to a respected captain within the Gotei 13 was marked by his resilience and the friendships he forged along the way.

Rukia stood in front of a red-haired boy who was bullying a young raven-haired girl as they were cleaning the street in front of the dilapidated Urahara Shop. She held the boy's broom and asked, "Where is Kisuke?"

Upon seeing Rukia in his shop, Urahara smiled and welcomed his favorite customer. However, Rukia ignored the man's antics and went straight to the point.

Kisuke's demeanor became serious as he led her into the part of his shop where his wares were stored. Although he didn't have many customers—actually, he had none, aside from occasional visitors who came just for a chat without buying anything—he took his business seriously.

Rukia examined the package Kisuke handed her.

"This is the only available one at the moment," he said mysteriously.

Rukia scowled at the merchandise, clearly annoyed that the item wasn't what she had ordered. "This isn't what I requested, Kisuke. I specifically asked for chappy."

Kisuke's eyes twinkled with a hint of mischief. "Ah, but you see, sometimes what you need isn't always what you want. Trust me, this will serve you well. In sha Allah"

Rukia's frown deepened. "Bismillah...I'll be the judge of that. I hope you're right."

Byakuya had already finished his dinner, but Rukia still hadn't returned home, which made him anxious, even though his agents had been monitoring and protecting her from the shadows.

As time ticked and it approached midnight, Byakuya, who was reading the Quran in his study, felt her reiatsu entering the manor. Although he wanted to demand an explanation for her tardiness, he decided to remain in his seat and finish reading Surah Ar-Rahman.

Rukia, on the other hand, felt conflicted. She wanted to stay in the Squad 13 barracks, but she had to return to the manor where the person who had adopted her as his sister—because she resembled his wife—resided. She felt shaken.

Despite spending hours in the Gotei 13 library reading about the Kuchiki clan and some Islamic texts to protect herself legally if something untoward were to happen, Rukia was still anxious. Although the Kuchiki clan was very powerful and influential, she needed to ensure her own protection and rights. Surely Kuchiki Byakuya wouldn't stoop so low.

Perhaps she should have asked for help? But who could help her? She is a nobody.

Suddenly, Kaien and Captain Ukitake appeared in her mind. No, she couldn't involve anyone without evidence; otherwise, she would bring shame to the clan if she was wrong.

Rukia braved herself and finally arrived at the garden but was too afraid to enter her room. She decided to stay in the garden and train, as she was too anxious to sleep.

Midnight passed, and Rukia became lost in her training and thoughts, not noticing Byakuya approaching. It was only when he passed her that she saw his back. As if she were invisible, he didn't glance her way or show any sign that he saw her.

Ironically, this made Rukia feel empty. She had been ignored again, making her feel silly for overthinking.

How presumptuous to think that someone like Byakuya would give her the time of day. The most noble and beautiful women of Soul Society would willingly throw themselves into his arms. He wouldn't be interested in her, even if she resembled his wife.

He probably saw her as nothing but a shadow, a reminder of his beloved, and not even a person.

Rukia bowed her head.

Not long after, she collapsed from exhaustion after training and lay on the ground under the sakura tree, between its thick roots that obscured her form from view. Without hesitation, she closed her eyes and fell asleep on the ground, thinking about how she had slept in worse conditions.

Byakuya suddenly appeared beside her sleeping form and lifted her up. Although he should have admonished her for her unladylike behavior, he remained silent, holding her in his arms and taking her back to her room.
