Chapter 32: Together

"Are you finished with Kanelo's room?" Terra wiped some of the pastel pink paint off his hands.

"I am." Aqua picked up a can of lavender paint. "Oh, Tsuki's room looks so cute!"

"It does. I'm sure she'll love it."

Ven came down the hallway, his arms full of books. "This is going to be awesome! It's been just us for so long, having some new friends is exciting."

"Yeah it is."

"Ven," Chirithy called from the boy's room, "I got snacks!"

"Coming!"

"You've been studying up on…" Terra peaked at the books, "ancient Keyblade history quite a lot recently."

"I have."

The older two glanced at each other, but said nothing.

Ven would tell them when he was ready.

Aqua walked into Tsukiko's room before holding out her hands. A flash of magic filled the room, drying the paint instantly. "There we go."

"Today's the day."

"Yeah, it is." Terra sighed. "I'll meet you at Traverse Town." He went outside, summoned his glider, and shot off into the stars.

Toward his home.

"Terra!" Tsukiko wrapped her arms around him.

"Hey, Tsuki." He patted her head. "You ready?"

"Yep!" Running over, she hefted up a decent-sized pack from the front steps of her home.

Her parents and brother came over, smiling. "I can't believe it's already time." Makio put a hand on her shoulder. "You'll do wonderful, Tsukiko."

"Have a good time!" Misao hugged his sister.

Their mother kissed the little girl on her head. "Be careful." Her eyes shifted to her son. "And you'll both come to visit, right?"

"Of course, Mother." Terra gave her a hug. "And I'll do everything I can to take care of her."

"I know you will."

He turned to his sister, pulling out the same piece of metal he once gave to Riku. "You ready?"

"What's that?" Tsuki looked it over as Terra placed it in her hands.

"Focus on it with all your heart, and you'll see." Summoning his Keyblade, he pointed it at the metal. The girl closed her eyes and focused as a beam of light shot out and hit the metal.

It flashed before it flew into the sleeve of her haori.

"Whoa!" The girl pulled back her sleeve to reveal a brace on her arm.

"Hit the button."

Tsukiko nodded, light engulfing her as she did so. When it faded, everyone gasped.

The little girl now wore a suit of pink and yellow armor. "Whoa!"

"That will protect you as we travel." Terra activated his own armor before changing his Keyblade into a glider. "You ready to go."

"Yes!" Giving one last hug to her family, the girl climbed onto the glider behind her brother. "Goodbye!"

"Goodbye, Tsukiko!"

With a final wave to his family, Terra called, "Hold on tight!" Before turning his glider upwards and shooting into the sky. He felt his sister's arms clamp on tighter as they shot out of the atmosphere and into space. "Tsuki, look around."

He felt her shift before she gasped. "Wow! It's so pretty!"

"Yeah, it is. So, first we're going to visit a world called Traverse Town."

"We're not going to the castle first?"

"Nope." The glider began to slowly turn, pointing them toward the world in question. "Aqua is going to go pick up her own apprentice too."

"Really?"

"Yep, you won't be training alone. We'll go and get you some training gear there, and you can meet your fellow student."

"Alright." She shuddered a little. "It's cold…"

"Yeah, the darkness looms close out here, but your armor will protect you."

Together, they flew to the small world of Traverse Town.

Landing, Tsukiko took off her armor, staring, mouth agape. "Wooooow! This is nothing like home."

"Traverse Town is a big mixing pot of other worlds." Terra smiled. "Now, let's get you some clothes that will suit you for training."

"Can I keep my haori? Mother made it for me."

"Of course," he patted her head, "we could even get it altered to make it exactly how you want it."

As they began to walk through the town, the girl looked around at all the amazing clothes she saw.

"That's cool!"

"I want that!"

"And that!"

They walked into a store, the little girl looking around.

This might take a while…

Aqua landed in Traverse Town, not far from Edea's House.

As she approached the building, one of the other kids spotted her and immediately ran inside.

"Miss Aqua!" Kanelo charged out the door, wrapping her in a hug.

"Hey there, Kanelo!" She hugged him back. "You ready?"

"Yeah!"

Miss Edea stepped out the door, a warm smile on her face. "Master Aqua, if you want to come on inside and finish the paperwork, we can finish this up."

"Of course."

The young woman took the boy's hand, looking down at him. "Did you get some new clothes?"

"I did! Do you like them?"

"They look nice."

The boy wore a red and purple shirt under a dusty purple vest. The single glove and boots he wore were a dark purple, and his pants were navy blue.

"Are they good for training?"

"They'll be perfect. Now, why don't you get your things while I finish up the paperwork."

"Ok!"

The boy ran off as Aqua went into the office and finished signing the papers as she heard the boy bidding farewell to his friends.

"I think he'll be very happy." Edea took the finished papers from her.

Aqua nodded. "I hope so. We'll take very good care of him."

"I'm sure you will."

As Aqua stood up, she smiled at Kanelo waiting for her, a large backpack on his back. "You ready?"

"Yes! Um… what do I call you now?"

"Master Aqua."

"Ok, Master Aqua!"

"You're my brother and my teacher, so should I call you Terra, or Master Terra, or what?"

"Master Terra is fine when we're out. At the castle, if you just call me Terra I won't mind." The young man looked over as she came out of the changing room. "You happy?"

"Uh huh!"

Tsukiko now wore a pink and yellow shirt under a set of black armor. Her pink haori, now magically tailored to cover her left side, pulled tight under a yellow obi. Under this she wore white pants and navy and pink boots.

"Well, I think you look nice. Now, let's go meet up with Aqua." He glanced down at his phone. "She'll meet us in the first district."

"Ok!"

After paying for the clothes, the two headed back to the entrance of town.

Terra spotted Aqua and beside her a boy with purple and pink curly hair. "Aqua!"

"There you are." She smiled. "Hi there, Tsuki. You look very pretty."

"Hello Aq- Master Aqua."

Aqua looked down at her students. "Kanelo, this is Tsukiko and Master Terra."

"Hi there." The boy shrunk down a little, sort of hiding his robotic arm. "I'm Kanelo."

"It's nice to meet you." The little girl giggled. "Whoa… your arm looks cool."

"You think?"

"Yeah! It's made of metal. How?"

"I was born without this arm and hand, so people made it for me."

"Amazing. And it works like a real hand?"

"Yep."

"Oooh!"

The two masters looked at each other and smiled.

"Alright, Kanelo." Aqua pulled out the same metal Terra did before and handed it to the boy. "I want you to focus on this. I'll do the rest."

He nodded, looking down at the piece of metal. Aqua held out her Keyblade, activating the metal as it flashed, attaching itself to Kanelo's metal arm as a new piece.

"Whoa." He moved his arm around. "It doesn't feel like any weight changed. What is this?"

"Hit the button!" Tsukiko giggled. "It's super amazing!"

The boy nodded, pressing the button. In a flash, he found himself covered in deep purple armor, accented with silver.

"Amazing!"

The others activated their own armor, and the masters summoned their gliders. As Tsukiko climbed onto her brother's glider, Aqua motioned for Kanelo to step onto hers. "I'll keep you safe."

"Ok." As he stepped on, chains of light tethered him to the glider.

"Hang on!"

In a flash, Aqua and Terra took to the skies, with their students.

"Welcome home!"

The two kids stood before the castle; jaws wide open.

"W-we live here!?"

"Yep."

"You mean it!?"

"We do."

"So cool!"

"We're like royalty!"

The castle doors opened as Ven stepped outside, Chirithy on his heels. "Hi there!"

"Kanelo, this is Ven. He's a friend of ours."

"Hi Mr. Ven!" Tsuki waved.

Ven smiled, waving. "And this is Chirithy."

"Nice to meet you both!"

Terra stepped in front of the kids. "So, we'll give you a few days to settle in before we actually start training. Now, we aren't going to pass the Keyblade on just yet. First, we'll teach you how to use a sword and some magic."

"And we have something for you." Aqua took something from Ven before holding out two silver heart-shaped emblems. "These signify you're one of us. We're like a family here. You can clip them wherever you like."

The kids took the emblems.

Kanelo clipped his on his belt buckle.

Tsukiko clipped hers on the bow tying her obi.

"Now, we'll show you your rooms, and then Ven will show you the castle grounds. Come on."

The kids jogged toward the castle, leaving the three behind.

But they didn't mind.

And that night, the castle filled with more laughter and joy than it had in some time.

And as the two new students finally went to bed that night, Terra found himself by a portrait of Master Eraqus.

"Master, I think you'd be proud. Our family here is growing."
