Chapter 2

Sam stepped into the women's showers and locker room with a blue battle dress uniform and a pair of boots for her cousin. She spied the figure behind the cream color shower curtain. She heard water running. "You okay in there?" she asked for Jackie seemed to be taking a long time.

Jackie stood in the shower just letting the water run down her back. After years of laying low and trying to survive, the running water felt like heaven. "You have no idea how much I missed having a shower." she called.

"I bet." she agreed. "I have some clean uniforms for you."

"Uniforms?" she asked.

"To wear for now." she assured.

"I thought you were drafting me for a minute there." she confessed. She turned the water off and grabbed the nearby towel. She began to dry off.

"Had I not died and Ra not invaded, you would be Air Force." she insisted. "Same in my world. Had that accident not happened you would have gotten in the Academy."

"That would have been nice." she agreed. She wrapped the towel around her and slid the curtain back. She grabbed the uniform from Sam. "Now I'm just a mechanic that hot wires old cars."

Sam assured. "You will get your wings."

"Doubtful." she stated. She stepped out of the shower stall and waked to the locker room area to dress.

Meanwhile

Jack had gathered a set of green battle dress uniforms for Charlie to wear. He walked into the men's shower as the teenager had just finished his shower. "Charlie." Jack called. "I got you something clean to wear."

"Great Dad." the teen replied. He grabbed his towel and finished drying off.

Jack asked. "Just kind of curious. What is the deal between you and Carter's cousin?"

"What do you mean?" he asked a bit baffled.

"She a bit older than you." he mentioned.

"She's thirty, Dad. She's fifteen years older than me." he stated. He wrapped the towel around his waist and pulled back the curtain.

Jack asked. "You and her together or something?"

"What?" he gave a cockeyed look. "Come on, Dad. What are you thinking? Together? Like a couple?"

"Yeah." he nodded.

"No!" he huffed. "We're partners. You know. Like on those old cop shows. I was ten when you and mom died in the invasion. Jackie stepped in and took care of me. She's like a big sister."

"So no…" he alluded.

"Oh, like we would have time for that when we are scrounging for food, clean water and ammo." he huffed annoyed. He took the uniforms and walked out of the shower. He started for the lockers. He shook his head as he could not believe his father even made such a suggestion. Jack followed and stood near the end of the row as Charlie got dressed to give him some privacy.

Short Time Later

Both Jackie and Charlie were cleared medically and then escorted to the commissary for something to eat. Fresh food tasted never so good for the refugees. The pair sat at the table with Sam and Jack acting as escorts. They enjoyed the meal.

Sam sipped her coffee and remarked. "I spoke to Hammond. You and Charlie have been assigned quarters on base. You said the house where to found that mirror belonged to Catherine Langford."

Jackie nodded. "That was name on the mail we found."

Charlie looked at his father. He could tell Jack was thinking. "What is it, Dad?"

He told him. "We're thinking of doing a mission to your Earth and see what your Catherine collected. Ours didn't have a mirror in her attic."

"You want us to come with you." he quickly figured.

"It would help if we had you two with us. You know the situation and can act as guides." he informed.

"I knew this was too good to be true." Jackie sighed.

Sam asked. "What do you mean?"

"I thought we had a new home and we would never have to go back there." she admitted.

"You will come back with us." Sam stated. "And this is your new home. No one is forcing either to go back. But, it would help us out a lot."

Jackie looked at Charlie. "What you think?"

He stated. "We're a team. We stick together. That's how we survive. It's your call. You go then I go."

She looked at her cousin, Sam. "We will help." she made a decision.

Jack stated. "When we are done with that mission, we blow your mirror on our way back. You two will stay here. This is your home now." Jack looked at Charlie. "And you will live with me and go to high school."

He blinked most surprised. "Go to high school! I haven't been to school since the invasion."

Jack patted his shoulder. "You got a lot of catching up to do."

The boy huffed. "Jackie gets to work here. Why can't I?"

"You're fifteen." Jack reminded him. "We get you in CAP and get your grades where they need to be and then you enter the Air Force Academy and get a commission."

Charlie looked to Jackie for support.

She grinned. "I would give anything for that chance. Take it! I'm gonna be a grunt."

Sam disagreed. "You will be given a commission and all needed training, Jackie."

She paused for a moment. "Seriously!"

Sam grinned. "Seriously!"

"I get a second chance?" she asked rather shocked.

"Of course." she assured.

Charlie winced. "And I have to go to high school."

Jack smirked. "You won't be alone."

Charlie gave a cocked eyed look. "Huh?"

"You get mini me to keep you company." he cheered.

"Mini me?" Charlie asked bewildered.

Meanwhile

The young clone stepped onto the elevator. Much to his surprise he spied a familiar face stepping on behind him. Jon O'Neill spied the face of Jack's ex-wife, Sara O'Neill. He soon figured the reason for asking him to come in must deal with some kind of family issue. He gave a soft smile. "Hi Sara."

She was just as he recalled. Pretty and tall with light brown hair dyed blonde. He recalled her hazel eyes and Jack's marriage to her as if it was his own. He glanced at her outfit. She sported a blue skirt and white shoes and a white blouse. He looked down at himself, wearing blue jeans, sneakers and a red t-shirt.

Sara O'Neill looked upon the face of the teenage clone. She cocked her head. "Do I know you? You look just like my ex husband when he was young."

"Yeah, a little." he smirked. He didn't say anything more.

The door closed they started the trip down.

Sara looked at Jon again. She debated how comes the teen looked exactly like her ex husband. Her imagination ran wild with the possibilities as she knew about the Gate and the program.

They rode down in awkward silence. The lift came to a halt the door opened. Jon asked. "You here to see Hammond, Sara?"

"Yes." she replied still trying to figure the boy.

"This way." he motioned for her to follow him.

She walked down the hallway with Jon. "Um…how do you know me?" she finally asked.

"You will find out." he assured her. He led her through the Gate room, up the stairs past Walter in the control room and into the briefing room. Upon entering he was met with SG-1, General Hammond and two new faces. Once face he recognized as Charlie. The other he did not. He came to a halt and his mouth dropped slightly as he looked upon the teenage face of the dead son. "Charlie?" he asked.

Charlie looked at Jon and stated rather surprised. "Damn! You really do look like dad as a kid."

Jon looked to Sam. "What happened, Carter?"

"The mirror in storage activated and Charlie came through along with my cousin, Jackie Carter." She motioned towards her cousin.

Charlie had then looked upon Sara. A smile crept across his face. "Hi Mom." he stated. He then walked over to her and embraced the shocked woman.

Memories of her long deceased son washed over her. She breathed deep as she squeezed him tight. Tears ran down her cheeks. She shook and then pulled herself together. "Charlie." she cried.

"It's me." he assured.

General Hammond gave Sara a moment as she held her son tight. He then spoke softly. "Have a seat, Mrs. O'Neill."

Sara took a seat as did Jon. SG-1 and Jackie also took a seat at the table.

The General started, "I have called you here to debrief you on an ongoing situation. Major Carter can fill you in the what the mirror is and what it does. As you can see, we now have two new refugees to settle. Major Carter." he gave her a nod.

Sam spoke. "We have in our possession an alien artifact. It looks like a plain ole mirror but it's not. It's actually a doorway to other versions of Earth. In multi universe theory you can have many different versions of earth, layered, like a cake all in the space to well…dumb it down. In Charlie and Jackie's version of Earth they were invaded by Ra, I died as a teenager, the Colonel died during the invasion and we, as far as we know, don't have any Star Gate program. Charlie and Jackie were civilians who found a mirror and accidentally activated it, sending them here. Since both don't already exist here, it's safe for them to stay and they have agreed to stay here."

Sara looked at Charlie. "You came here through some kind of mirror?"

He nodded. "Jackie and I found it in an attic. Next thing we know, we are here."

Sara asked. "Where are you going to live?"

Jack spoke up. "With me!"

Jon spoke to Charlie. "Hey, you can live with me if you want. I got my own place."

Sara asked Jon. "Just who are you?"

Sam spoke up. "That's Jon. He's a clone of Colonel O'Neill that Loki of the Asgard made."

Sara looked at the teenager. "No wonder you look just like Jack." She then asked Sam. "Why is he a teenager then?"

"There was an error in the cloning process that prevented the clone from maturing. Thor stabilized him and he now lives as his own person. Jon O'Neill." she told her.

Jack smirked. "He's mini me."

Jon rolled his eyes as he found Jack's dig rather annoying.

Sara asked. "Should he be living by himself?" She pointed to Jon.

"He ain't living with me." Jack sounded.

Jon assured her. "I can live on my own. I'm not a baby. I have all his memories and knowledge." he pointed to Jack. "I get a monthly check from the government for expenses and I'm attending high school."

Charlie asked. "What are going to do with your life? Do the same thing dad did?"

"I was thinking of going into the Navy this time." he declared.

Jack smirked. "Work on a sub?"

"Funny!" he rolled his eyes.

Jackie sat beside herself as she looked at the clone and Jack interact. "Why do you have an asset like Jon going to high school? He's got the mind of the full bird Colonel and the body of teenage boy. You could really employ that."

Hammond asked her. "How so, Miss Carter?"

She admitted. "If it was me and I had him in my world. I would be sending him in as a spy to gather intel on Ra and his men. Ra likes to recruit our youth for his military. That young man is a gold mine."

Jon beamed as he was declared a gold mine.

Jack stated. "We blew Ra's ass up on Abydos. We don't have a Ra problem here."

"Granted," she nodded. "But he's a huge asset."

"I'm a huge asset." Jon teased Jack.

He smirked back. "More like a huge pain in the assets."

Sara scolded. "Don't talk to him like that, Jack. He's just a boy." She then offered. "I can take a new job and move here. If you want, you can stay with me. Charlie can stay with me. I can take care of you two boys."

Jon would normally rather live alone but he also knew just how irritated Jack would be if his ex wife was allowing him to live with her. He stated. "You know. I just might do that."

Jack huffed. "Why?"

"For school it helps if it looks like I have parents." he excused.

"You will always have me." Sara insisted. In her heart she felt so sorry for the clone and wanted to provide him with a good home. She did not understand the complicated existence of a clone.

Jack gasped at his clone in disbelief.

Jon then added gleefully. "Charlie should live with me and Sara. That way we can use the cover of us being brothers and Sara is our mom."

That wasn't Jack's plan. The plan was to enroll Charlie in local high school and Jon could be a his cousin and help keep an eye on him during the transition to his new home. He was going to allow Sara to visit the alternate of their dead son as Charlie lived full time with him. "What!" he huffed at his clone.

"Come on! He's can't live full time with you." Jon countered. "You are going off world and are not even on the planet half the time." Jon then countered Jack's plan with his own. "Charlie and I should have the cover of brothers and live with Sara. We both go to high school. As brothers."

Jack and sat and blinked as his clone outmaneuvered him.

Jon added, "You can have him on the weekends."

He squinted at the clone as he knew Jon just wanted to be in Charlie's life full time.

Daniel had to agreed. "Actually! I think Jon has a point. Him and Charlie both know about the Goa'uld, Ra, the Gate. Jon knows everything you know, Jackie and Charlie has been living under alien occupation for five years. I think the brother cover is a good cover. And…we are off world a lot. Sara is willing to move here and step in and help both out. I think we should let her."

Sara was grateful for Daniel agreeing. "Thank you, Doctor Jackson. I will need to find a job though. Do you know of anyone hiring secretaries?"

He winced. "I don't know who is hiring."

Hammond smiled. "I could use a secretary!"

Jack cocked an eyebrow and looked at Hammond. "What?"

"Walter has his hands full." he declared. "You will be my secretary, Mrs. O'Neill."

She replied grateful. "That you, General Hammond."

"My pleasure." he assured her.
