Light in the Darkness
It had been a week now since Harry had joined Fairy Tail. A week since he was able to step foot in the guildhall. Today was no different and once again he found himself at the cemetery. Mirajane had already told him how her sister died. It was a bright and sunny day but Harry didn't feel the warmth. Standing in front of Lisanna's grave made him feel for Mirajane. To lose her sister in such a way was traumatic for her. That much he could see and understand. He felt the same about his mother and his godfather. Sitting down he rubbed his hands over his face. There were bags under his eyes from the loss of sleep. Nightmares were no fun even more so when they were memories that haunted him. Plagued him with self doubt and immense guilt. He knew healing took time but it still hurt to remember.
Mira sighed as she sat behind Harry, her hands pressed to his back. Over the course of a week she had seen the struggles he was going through. The effort it took to even get out of bed and go about the day. She may have lost her little sister but Harry lost so much more. She had taken to watching him closely. Following him when it seemed like his mind was elsewhere. Master had given her the time off to watch over Harry. Even he could see the poor boy was struggling. "Harry why do you visit my sister's grave?" She swallowed back the tears that wanted to fall. Harry needed her more than she needed to cry.
He stiffened at first from the touch but then slowly he relaxed. Mirajane was the only one that was allowed to touch him. Then again he hadn't been back to the guild since the day he joined. Without his permission tears flowed from his eyes and down his cheeks. "I don't want her to ever think she is alone. I couldn't visit my parents graves but I can visit your sister." He covered his face with his hands and wept for Mirajane and Elfman's loss. For the death of a bright and sweet mage who loved her older siblings. He cried for the loss of all those he was shoulder from the war. His heart ached more than when he was under the Crucio Curse. "It hurts...it hurts so bad Mira. I don't know what to do." For the first time in a week he was begging for help. Needing that salvation that Mira could give him.
She sat up on her knees and hugged him from behind. "Its okay Harry I'm here. We'll talk more when we go back home." She leaned back a little and carded her fingers through his hair. Harry turned around and buried his face in her chest. His arms circling around her hips as he hugged her tightly. He felt so lost but there was a part of him that was glad he wasn't alone anymore. Mirajane simply let him cling to her and let out all the pain he held inside. It was going to be a long road for Harry that much she knew. Its been two years and she still felt guilty for her sister's death. But for Harry it's been sixteen years since the death of his parents. He'd told her of their murder and why they died. He even explained a bit of his past. The two sharing in the guilt and the sorrow that weighed on their hearts.
It was evening now, Mirajane and Harry had left the cemetery and went home. As odd as it was Mirajane found herself liking Harry's company. He was different from the others and hadn't once tried to flirt with her. She was growing quite fond of him and fast but she couldn't bring herself to care. "Harry I know you think you feel guilty but its not your fault. Just as I know its not my fault that Lisanna died or Elfmans. But that doesn't stop us from feeling that guilt." She reached down and tangled her fingers in his hair. They had moved to the couch when they got home. Harry sitting in front of her on the floor and she was tucked away under a throw on the couch. "I don't know everything yet but your scars are telling enough. And I think its time you started confronting all your past demons."
Harry tipped his head back and looked at her with red rimmed green eyes. "I will if you will Mira. Its about time you started facing your demons too." It may seem like they were both ready to move on. When in actuality they were only just beginning especially for Harry. "Will...will you sleep with me tonight? I don't think I can handle another nightmare." He sounded so small and childish even to his own ears. But he was afraid and he couldn't help it. The memories alone kept him awake until he fell into an uneasy sleep. Mirajane smiled as she nodded then yawned. Neither of them were hungry tonight. "Come on then Harry let's try and get some real sleep. I may not be able to do much but maybe we'll take a simple clean up job from the request board."
Harry got up and helped Mira off the couch before he laced their fingers together. He led her into the room she was letting him use. Then reluctantly let her hand go so he could change. The second day here she had taken him shopping for clothes. So he now had a whole wardrobe filled with clothes. Once he was done changing he came out of the bathroom in a pair of sweats that hung dangerously low on his hips. Sliding into bed he waited for Mirajane to finish changing as well. Her nightware was simple and not meant to be skimpy. She wore a baby blue nightgown that reached just to her knees. Then she got into bed beside him and was instantly spooned from from behind. It felt nice if a bit intimate but still very nice. "Good night Mira." He mumbled as she returned the gesture. Both falling asleep in a matter of seconds. Unaware that the string of fate was tying them ever closer together.
A/N: Here's another chapter. Now each chapter with either be long or short so I'm sorry to those want longer chapters. I'm trying to spread out the healing process between them. Next chapter with be a continuation of this one and their first job. The relationship may seem like its moving fast but it's not. The only reason Harry is accepting of her touch is because he hasn't been back to the guild. And it won't always be easy for him accept either. He's struggling with a lifetime of pain and past abuse. He'll have good days and bad days just as any other person would. And that is coming from personal experience.
