Returning to the Grand Underground (Part One)
After Stella was done kissing Lincoln after his win over Gardenia and earning the Forest Badge, Lincoln takes his badge case out of his backpack and puts the Forest Badge in it. Sam, Dawn, Luna, and Clyde walk over to him and Stella with Dawn frowning.
"Congratulations on your win here, Lincoln." said Clyde.
"Thanks." said Lincoln before he put his badge case in his backpack.
"So, what now?" asked Luna.
"I'm going to get Monferno and Staravia treated at the Pokemon Center, then I'm going to find out where my next gym battle is." said Lincoln.
"Well, I'm going to the Eterna City Contest Hall to sign up for the Pokemon Contest." said Stella.
"Me, too." said Dawn, making Stella glare at her who glares right back, making everyone else sweatdrop; They exit the Eterna City gym. Moments later, they were standing in front of a path that had a line of small trees on each side of it, leading to a round, light brown building with a green glass dome on top of it and an archway entrance with a sign reading 'Pokemon Contest' above it.
"This is definitely the place." said Sam. Stella and Dawn glared at each other before running towards the contest hall; seconds later, they entered the hall and went straight to the front desk of the lobby.
"I want to sign up for the Pokemon Contest!" exclaimed Stella and Dawn in unison, making the receptionist sweatdrop.
"Very well." said the receptionist. A couple minutes later, the receptionist was done registering Stella and Dawn. "Okay, you two are registered; the Pokemon Contest will take place the day after tomorrow."
"No need to worry; it'll give me plenty of time to prepare." said Dawn.
"To lose after I win it." said Stella, making Dawn glare at her. Soon after, they arrived at the Pokemon Center where Lincoln gave the nurse his Monferno and Staravia. Afterward, the group went to the cafeteria for dinner.
"So, Lincoln; any idea where your next gym battle is?" asked Clyde as he and the others ate. Lincoln takes the map out of his backpack and looks through it.
"According to this, the nearest gym is in a place called Hearthome City." said Lincoln. "If we go south from here, then go through this tunnel in Mt. Coronet, then go through 208, we should arrive at Hearthome City. I think there's also a Pokemon Contest there also."
"Now I know where my third ribbon is." said Stella.
"You mean MY third Ribbon." said Dawn.
"Assuming you win your second one here." replied Stella.
"What should we do until the day of the contest?" asked Sam.
"Let's go to the Grand Underground and look around some more." suggested Clyde.
"That's a good idea." said Lincoln. "I can look for some more Pokemon to send my sisters."
"To torture Rusty with?" asked Stella with a grin.
"And to play with." said Lincoln. After the group finishes eating, they go to the nurse who gives Lincoln his Monferno and Staravia back; soon after, they left the Pokemon Center and use the Explorer Kit the Underground Man gave them to return to the Grand Underground.
"Let's go look for some more Pokemon." said Lincoln.
"I'll go with you, Lincoln." said Stella as she hooks her arm around one of Lincoln's.
"I'm with Sam." said Luna.
"Looks like Dawn's with me." said Clyde.
"Let's go then." said Lincoln as he and Stella go down a tunnel with Dawn glaring at Stella as they do.
Lincoln and Stella soon find a cavern that had a few small ponds on one end of it. As Lincoln looks around, he sees a blue, serpentlike Pokemon floating around.
"Whoa!" said Lincoln. "It's a Dratini!"
"Aren't those hard to find?" asked Stella.
"Yeah!" said Lincoln as he holds out his pokedex towards the Pokemon.
"Dratini, the Dragon Pokemon. It is called the Mirage Pokémon because so few have seen it, but its shed skin has been found." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"I'm catching this one!" said Lincoln as he lets his Espeon out of his pokeball.
"Do it, Lincoln!" said Stella. The Dratini, that just now noticed them, gets ready for a battle.
"Espeon, use Swift!" said Lincoln. His Espeon releases a barrage of stars at the Dratini, hitting it; it responds by slamming its tail down onto Espeon, doing damage to him. "Espeon, use Confusion!" Espeon hits Dratini with a blast of psychic energy; it suddenly starts to stumbling around.
"I think it's confused now." said Stella. Dratini tries to move at Espeon, but it runs into a wall instead and falls to the ground. Lincoln quickly takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Dratini, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yes! I caught a Dratini!" said Lincoln. As the pokeball disappears to storage, he looks up his new capture's information on his pokedex. "This says that my Dratini's a girl, she knows Wrap, Leer, Twister, Thunder Wave, Dragon Tail, Agility, and Slam; she has the Marvel Scale ability which increases her defense when she has a status condition."
"Good work, Lincoln!" said Stella before she kisses Lincoln on the cheek.
Meanwhile, Clyde and Dawn were looking around a cavern when they suddenly hear footsteps; Clyde looks to see a quadrupedal, feline-like Pokemon with white fur on almost all of its body, a blue face, a dark blue, curved blade shaped horn on the side of its head, a dark blue, oval on its forehead, and a dark blue, blade shaped tail.
"What's that?" asked Clyde, pointing at the Pokemon. Dawn points her pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Absol, the Disaster Pokemon. It senses coming disasters and appears before people only to warn them of impending danger." said Dawn's pokedex.
"I'm catching this one." said Clyde, pulling out a pokeball. "Go, Gallade!" He tosses Gallade's pokeball and releases him. The Absol sees Gallade and charges at him with incredible speed and rams him, knocking him back.
"That looked like Quick Attack." said Dawn.
"Gallade, use Disarming Voice!" said Clyde. Gallade lets out a yell and releases pink soundwaves from his mouth; they hit Absol and deal super effective damage to it. The Absol leaps at Gallade and slashes him with its tail, damaging him. "Gallade, use Draining Kiss!" Gallade runs at Absol and kisses it, dealing super effective damage and draining Absol's energy while healing Gallade's wounds; Absol drops to the ground.
"I think it's weak enough, Clyde." said Dawn. Clyde takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Absol, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around a few times until it clicked.
"Yes! Absol is mine!" said Clyde.
"Way to go, Clyde." said Dawn. She uses her pokedex to look up Absol's information. "This says your Absol is a girl, she knows Quick Attack, Leer, Double Team, Knock Off, Detect, Taunt, and Slash; she has the Super Luck ability which increaes her chances of landing a critical hit."
"Cool." said Clyde as he picks up Absol's pokeball and puts it away. Dawn suddenly sees a light blue, birdlike Pokemon with wings that resemble clouds; she points her pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Swablu, the Cotton Bird Pokemon. Its wings are like cotton tufts. If it perches on someone's head, it looks like a cotton hat." said Dawn's pokedex.
"I'm catching this one." said Dawn, pulling out a pokeball. "Pachirisu, spotlight!" She throws Pachirisu's pokeball and releases her. "Okay, Pachirisu, use Spark!" Pachirisu charges at Swablu while electricity surrounded her body and she rams Swablu, dealing super effective damage; static surrounds Swablu's body.
"It's paralyzed." said Clyde. Swablu fights through its paralysis and fires a light blue beam of energy from its mouth and it hits Pachirisu, damaging her.
"Pachirisu, use Swift!" said Dawn. Pachirisu releases stars from her body and they hit Swablu, damaging it. Dawn takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Swablu, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around until it clicked. "Yippee! I caught a Swablu!" After she picks up Swablu's pokeball and puts it away, she looks up Swablu's information on her pokedex. "My Swablu's a girl, she knows Peck, Growl, Disarming Voice, Mist, Fury Attack, Round, Dragon Breath, and Safeguard; plus she has the Natural Cure ability."
With Lincoln and Stella, they were walking down the tunnel when they saw Paul looking around before he notices them.
"What are you two doing down here?" asked Paul with a frown.
"Thought we'd explore this area some more." said Stella.
"Find anything good?" asked Paul.
"I caught a Dratini a few minutes ago." said Lincoln, surprising Paul.
"They're down here?" asked Paul.
"Along with Pokemon you normally wouldn't find on the surface, let alone Sinnoh." said Lincoln.
"I'm going to look around some more then." said Paul.
"Try digging in the wall where the bulges are." said Lincoln. "You might find something useful."
"Whatever." said Paul.
"Let's go look around some more, Lincoln." said Stella as she grabs his hand and pulls him down the tunnel. The two soon enter a cavern that had lava in it.
"We should definitely be careful here." said Lincoln.
As the two look around while being careful not to fall in the lava, Stella notices a small, orange, birdlike Pokemon with no wings wandering around.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Stella. Lincoln points his pokedex at it to get an answer to his girlfriend's question.
"Torchic, the Chick Pokemon. A fire burns inside it, so it feels very warm to hug. It launches fireballs of 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"I could use a fire type on my team." said Stella. She takes out her Corsola's pokeball and lets her out of it.
"Corsola, use Water Gun!" said Stella. Her Corsola sprays a stream of water out of her mouth that hits the Torchic, dealing super effective damage; it responds by breathing out a spray of embers from its beak which hits Corsola, barely doing anything. "Now use Tackle!" Corsola leaps at the Torchic and collides with it, knocking it to the ground. Stella takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Torchic, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Nice one, Stella!" said Lincoln. He then looks up Stella's new Torchic on his pokedex. "This says your Torchic's a girl, she knows Scratch, Growl, Ember, Quick Attack, Flame Charge, Detect, Sand Attack, Aerial Ace, and Slash; and she has the Blaze ability like my Monferno does."
Some movement catches Lincoln's eye, making him look to see a small, yellowish orange, lizardlike Pokemon with a flame at the end of its tail come out from behind a rock.
"What's that?" asked Stella, prompting Lincoln to point his pokedex at the new Pokemon.
"Charmander, the Lizard Pokemon. The fire on the tip of its tail is a measure of its life. If the Pokémon is healthy, its tail burns intensely." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"The color of the Charmander on the pokedex is a more orange color." said Lincoln.
"Must be a shiny one!" said Stella.
"I'm gonna catch it." said Lincoln as he takes his Buizel's pokeball out of his pocket and lets him out of it. "Buizel, use Quick Attack!" Buizel coats itself in water as he rockets himself at the Charmander, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage; it reacts by biting down on Buizel with fangs coated in fire, not doing a lot of damage to him. "Buizel, use Swift!" His Buizel whips his tail forward, releasing a barrage of stars that hit the Charmander, making it respond by running over to him and slashes him with its claws.
"That Charmander is tough." said Stella.
"Maybe so, but we're not backing down." said Lincoln. "Buizel, use Water Gun!" His Buizel releases a powerful stream of water from his mouth that hits the Charmander, dealing super effective damage; it slumps to the ground out of exhaustion.
"I think it's weak enough." said Stella. Lincoln nods in agreement before he takes an empty pokeball out of his pocket and throws it at the Charmander, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yes! I caught Charmander!" cheered Lincoln. As his new Pokemon's pokeball disappears to storage, he looks up its information on his Rotom Phone.
"My new Charmander's a boy, he knows Scratch, Growl, Ember, Smokescreen, Dragon Breath, Fire Fang, Slash, and Flamethrower; he has the Blaze like my Monferno and your Torchic." said Lincoln.
"Can we go somewhere else?" asked Stella as she wipes some sweat off her brow. "I'm hot."
"You can say that again." said Lincoln with a blush, making Stella smile and blush in response.
As Lincoln and Stella exit the area, Paul was digging in a wall, looking for something when he finds an yellow stone that looked like it had fire in it.
"A Fire Stone." said Paul before he takes out his Alpha Eevee's pokeball and lets it out. "I could use a fire type on my team." He then touches his Pokemon with the stone, making it start to glow and change; when it was done, it was bigger, dark orange, and hit had a cream-colored tuft of fur on its head, along with a similar-colored ring of it around its neck, plus a thick, similar-colored tail. Paul takes out his pokedex and points it at the newly evolved Alpha.
"Flareon, the Flame Pokemon, and the evolved form of Eevee. It has a flame sac in its body. Its body temperature tops 1,650 degrees Fahrenheit before battle." said Paul's pokedex.
"Don't make me regret giving you a second chance after losing to Cynthia." said Paul, making his new Flareon growl and nod.
The group has caught new Pokemon, as well as Paul. Will Dawn and Stella be ready for the Eterna City Pokemon Contest in two days? Wait and find out.
