Shattered Innocence Ch. 35
The group bursts into the hospital and Carmilla shouts. "Help! My daughter. She's in labor! We need Dr. Drums!"
A couple of nurses brought out a gurney and helped the New Carmine up onto it and started pushing her further into the hospital.
"Wait!" Emily reaches for her mom. "I'm scared. I don't want to do this alone."
"Don't be scared, Emily," Carmilla walks up to take her daughter's hand. "You won't be alone. You'll never be alone again. I can promise that."
With that, Emily is finally taken into the delivery room, leaving everyone else to wait for any news.
.oOo.
After hours, everyone just sat there in the waiting room. Aside from the group from the party, Zestial had arrived at one point as well as Rosie and Husk.
Velvette has been pacing back and forth.
Angel Dust hesitantly walks up to her. "Hey, uh, Boss. Perhaps you should take a seat and calm down."
"Calm down!?" she snaps. "You want me to calm down while my girlfriend is having a baby!? How can I calm down!?"
A bead of sweat drops from the spider's head. "How about we check your social? That always makes you feel better. What do the fans think about Emily going into labor?"
"The f(bleep) should I know? I didn't tell them about this."
That catches Odette's attention. "I thought you were all about sharing your whole life online."
"Yeah, my life! I don't share everything about Emily's life."
The Spectacled Carmine raises a brow, "But you share a lot of things about her."
"Not without her say in it," the Influencer finally sat down. "There's a lot of stuff about her that I haven't shared and some stuff we've done together that my followers have no idea about."
The Carmine sisters then glance at one another and Clara asks. "Does that mean you two used a scarf and just didn't tell anyone?"
Everyone not in the Carmine's inner circle turned to the puffy-haired Carmine with raised brows at the question.
Velvette lets out a laugh. "Hell no! Emily's not ready for that and we're not sure she'd ever be."
The puffy-haired Carmine then asks. "But you want to?"
The Influencer was about to say something when a nurse interrupted.
"Emily Carmine is able to see visi—" they are spun around as the group runs past her. "Hey! Only family is able to…" the sentence is forgotten after a quick glare from the present Overlords. The nurse then squeaks out, "Never mind."
.oOo.
Emily sits up in the bed, holding her newborn son. The child has skin as grey as his mother's and a set of red eyes to match as well. On top of his head is a tiny nub that's the beginning of a horn. Poking out from behind the blanking is as short tail.
"I'm glad we could finally meet," a tear drops from her eyes as she plants a kiss on her baby's forehead, and he lets out a small giggle. "Hear that?" she looks over to where her mother is standing. "His first laugh."
Carmilla smiles at the sight. "It's the firsts that are the most precious."
"Would you like to be the first hold him?"
The matriarch smiles while walking up to her daughter. "I would love to, Emily," she takes the newborn and gently holds him. "Hello, little one. I'm your grandma. Went through a lot of trouble just to meet you," she smiles. "It was all worth it."
The door then bursts open as a group enters the room with Clara shouting, "Let the aunts through!" as she, Odette, and Sy make their way towards Carmilla. They all came to a halt as they received a glare from the matriarch.
After a moment, Carmilla face softens as she lowers her arms so the girls could meet their nephew.
"Aw!" Clara coos while taking him in her arms. "He's adorable."
"He is quite cute!" Odette fiddles with her glasses.
Sy then says. "I'm your Auntie Sy. I'm going to be the best Aunt ever," there was a cough from her wife. "Second best."
The baby is then passed from the aunts and around to the other guests. Vaggie merely smiled at newborn but Charlie was more excited and as her eyes turn to stars. There was some concern with Niffty, but the maid was surprisingly gentle. Angel Dust was quite calm while wearing a genuine smile. Husk acted like he was disinterested by the sight of the baby but he himself wore a smile. Zestial held the child briefly before passing him to one of his fellow Overlords.
"He's too cute to eat!" Rosie smiles brightly. "I didn't think that was possible. But you're tiny. Your mother better makes sure you get your fill," she was about to give the baby to Melissa when the Sinner is pushed out of the way.
"My turn!" Velvette snaps and gently takes the newborn. "Oh, hello there, sweetheart. I'm your mummy's very special friend," she walks over to the bedridden Emily who now wears a slight smile. "I hope to stick around for a very long time so I can get to know you better."
Carmilla's eye twitches slightly hearing that.
Emily's son is then returned to her. "Thank you, Velvette."
The Influencer smiles. "It was nothing, Luv," she then looks back down at the baby. "You made something beautiful."
The fallen angel returns the smile. "Yeah," and turns back to her baby. "I guess I did."
Everyone remained smiling at the happy moment. Then to the surprise of everyone a new voice enters the room.
"May I hold him?"
There, standing in the doorway is none other than Sera with a bandage over her cheek.
Emily looks away at first, being unsure of what to do. She then looks over at her mother and gestures for her to come over.
Carmilla keeps a neutral expression as she takes her grandchild once again and walks over to the High Seraphim. Just before handing the baby over, the Arms Dealer's eyes narrowed to warn the angel.
Sera carefully takes the child. Despite knowing he's technically a hellborn, she's incapable of seeing him as anything but the baby that he is. "Does he have a name yet?"
"Yeah," Emily's eyes never left her child. "It's Callum. Callum Carmine."
"Callum…" the High Seraphim smiles as she walks back over to her sister. "White dove of peace. It's a beautiful name for a beautiful child," and returns the baby to his mother. "I am sorry, Emily," she looks upon the mother and son with sadden eyes. "I truly am."
The young Carmine looks up at her before back at her son. "I accept your apology, Sera." That brought a smile back on the Leader of the Seraphim, but it soon drops. "But I'm not ready to forgive you."
Sera nods. "I understand," and turns to walk away. Just as she reached the doorway what is said next stopped her.
"Not yet. But I would like to… maybe someday."
The High Seraphim turns around with a sad smile. "I'll wait for however long it takes. Even if it never comes. Goodbye, Emily," she finally leaves.
After a few moments of silence, everyone looks back at the mother and child.
Soon, a nurse enters the room with a camera. "Ready for the family pho…" they stopped at the sight of the large group. "I might need a bigger camera."
"It's actually just us," Carmilla says as she gestures for her daughters and daughter-in-law to come over to the bedside.
When the nurse was about to take the picture, Emily then spoke up.
"Can Zestial and Velvette be in it?" she looks up at her mother. "They're family to."
Where the matriarch does not mind the idea of Zestial being a part of it, she is still unsure about the former Vee. Carmilla then turns to her youngest and sees the plea in her eyes.
"Of course, Emily."
Zestial walks up to stand right next to his Old Friend while Velvette managed to squeeze herself next to Emily.
In a flash, Callum's first family photo was taken.
