The Stipulation: One chapter a day. 500 words or less. Every episode of Rugrats. The Challenge: What if the adults on Rugrats were actually good parents? Watched their kids? Thought ahead? DIDN'T think it was fine for babies to nearly die every 5 days? Tommy is about to have a very different life with Stu and Didi actually using their brains.

My Fair Babies

"Susie," Lucy called out, motioning for her daughter to join her by the picnic table. "What is going on over there?"

"The babies want to come to Angelica's party," Susie said.

Lucy just smiled, knowing that it would do no good to explain to her daughter that the babies couldn't talk and other than maybe Chuckie none of them could actually understand what Angelica was saying. It was nice that Angelica and Susie allowed their imaginations to run wild and involve the babies in their games but in the end the babies didn't really understand. They wouldn't be able to follow such complex things for a few more years.

"Angelica invited you to a party, Susie," Lucy said. In reality it was just a playdate but Charlotte was going to make it a touch special. "And the polite thing is to accept. It isn't polite to demand she invite the babies."

"But they want to come," Susie protested.

"This is a party for you two, sweetie. You wouldn't like it if you invited Angelica to something and she brought kids you didn't know."

"I guess… but she knows Tommy…" But Lucy just shook her head and Susie sighed. "I'm sorry."

"Its okay. Now tell Angelica you are going to attend."

Tommy and his friends, meanwhile, watched what was happening and pouted. "Its not fair! We're big kids now! We should be able to go to Angelica's party!" Tommy declared.

"Well… we aren't really big big kids," Chuckie stated. "I mean… I only know how to say one word, and you guys still use your diapees, and can't use forks and spoons, and…"

Tommy frowned as he heard all that. He had thought he was all grown up and a big kid… but he guessed there was a lot more growing up to do. Growing up so he could do a lot more fun things.

"Gee, I wonder if I'll ever stop feeling like I need to grow ups more!" Tommy exclaimed.

The creator frowned as he finished writing another chapter about a show written for 5 year olds. "No, you never will."

"Did you order more Transformers?" Aria asked, bringing in a large box.

"Masterverse figures, put them in the corner next to the Lego sets and Street Shark figures."
