Eggman had done it. It was a dangerous gamble, but his Chaos Emerald empowered VR headset had done the trick. He could never be too confident in his plans whenever Sonic was around, even if his stolen face was fighting on his side now. And there was the problem of that persistent psychic ghost of a hedgehog. He thought trapping him in his own body would be enough but no, he found a way to become a ghost! He griped out loud, "Why couldn't the emeralds give me a super form like that lemur and wolf? It's not fair!"

Sage appeared to Eggman and raised an eyebrow, "But Father, you are super though!"

He shouted, "Yeah…Only had to throw away my humanity!"

Sage also showed up, "What next, Father?"

Eggman flew around a bit, looking at his stolen hands, whose psychic aura as he was reminded had turned red. He smirked, "Guess they're not the only ones whose true colors are showing through the emeralds." He shouted at 'Sonic', "Sonic! Where are you?!"

He was dashing by and briefly stopped, "Sorry, papa! Kind of-" He dodged a bite from a dragon, "-Busy right now! Bye!" He sped off to try and escape the dragon.

Eggman put fingers to his stolen forehead and shook it side to side, "At least he's keeping that infernal beast busy."

Sage shouted again, "FATHER!"

Eggman was a bit shaken at that, "Wha!...Oh, right, Sage, my dear daughter." He smiled maliciously, "I'll make sure those sniveling fools suffer for trying to rob us!" He also used his powers over this virtual dimension to reveal a battery, "And I begin building the power for a cross-dimensional Chaos Control! Don't worry daughter, you'll be a princess soon enough…"

Sage looked to the side, "But…What if I-"

Eggman insisted, "You'll love it Sage! Trust me!"

Sage looked down to the ground sadly, I can't say I do…Father. She suggested, "If we win, I will. But otherwise…Can I stay this way?"

Eggman folded arms, "Only for you, Sage."

Nearby, some colors had seemingly been added to the red orb encompassing a red and black hedgehog…

The other friends had fallen to what appeared to be one big cell. Upon waking, 'Big' whined, "Great, now I'm fat and alone! Can this stupid day get any worse!"

'Rouge' awoke next to him, "You're telling me…"

'Big''s eyes went wide with hearts, "Hey there sexy, how about we-"

He got kicked in the face for that one, even despite 'her' struggles previously to learn walking in heels, "This is humiliating enough, don't make it worse."

'Big' was stunned into sleep, "Okay, nap time…" He went unconscious in response.

'Rouge' thought aloud to 'herself', "So this is the kind of crap you girls deal with?"

The real Rouge nodded, "Yep. I'd have done the same."

'Amy' gripped 'her' hammer, Good thing Amy has this…

Shortly, a certain sheep remained asleep. But, the wisp shortly thereafter awoke.

'Maggie' blinked her…One eye?! She knew immediately what had happened, trying desparately to wiggle literally anything, but only wiggled the note appendage. This frustrated her, Stupid alien wisp body! How do I move like this! She also shouted at the top of her…She didn't know what. And it turned into a music note.

It hit the nearby sheep, 'Lanolin' shortly awoke up next in response, and had a similar panic at seeing through two eyes. They went every which way, (Seeing with two eyes is bizarre!) She tried wiggling anything, to little avail. She wasn't anywhere near being able to stand, and that wasn't gonna change soon. She tried making noises, "UdwbapevadaewcfvapjipklljkSofagageadcinbadecasgeascegbic" It seemed she could only make gibberish noises with her new mouth.

'Mighty' commented, "Could be worse, it seems. At least you're not an alien that flies by defying gravity."

Eggman cackled loudly, "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You two bumbling idiots, struggling with new forms too…Alien to understand."

Both of them managed to turn their new heads, glaring in contempt. The reluctant wisp had just barely figured out how to fly, and fortunately the tentacles came next.

The similarly trapped sheep rolled over somehow, and so Maggie gave a sinister grin as she made the noises, "So-n-ic!" Lanolin cheered, clapping her current tentacles.

'Tumble' shouted, "Yeah, Sonic will save us!"

Eggman went nuclear at this, "Sonic Sonic SONIC SONIC SONIC! Can't you idiots think of anything else?!" He shouted loud enough for all of them to hear

'Big' broke through his daze and depression to add, "Hehe, says the clown who always lo-"

Eggman soured even worse, forcing them to see the current Sonic, crumpled on the ground and crying out in emotional pain while instinctually wrapped in the lemur tail, "YOU CALL THIS LOSING?!"

They all quieted after that, hoping in their hearts the former hedgehog could come through. Except 'Amy' who confidently declared, "I know my Sonic, he'll escape in due time!"

'Vector' added, "His spirit is unbreakable…" Then the crocodile started blushing and put hands on 'his' face, "...And dreamy."

Eggman laughed at them, "Oh…you poor naive idiots. That meteor must have mixed you all up as you rudely stole it from me!" He trapped each of them in cylindrical glass tubes. "It's time you paid me back the gigantic debts you all owe the Eggman Empire! Ahahahaha!"

Tails, Tangle, and Belle found themselves in another reality. Being reasonably sure they couldn't be seen by Eggman, they returned to their true forms. Belle was panicking, "Guys, you saw what he'd done to our friends! How do we overcome that?!"

Tangle put a hand on her shoulder, "We won't do it by worrying. We need to find Sonic, that's what's important here."

Tails nodded, "Yeah…Now…where are we?"

It was Green hill, and Sonic was running around like the hedgehog he was supposed to be. He spun out his friends, "Sorry guys! Gotta go! Later bro!"

Tangle immediately turned into Sonic's double, chasing after him, "Sonic! Wait!"

Sonic looked back, "I hate evil clones! You'll never catch me!"

Tangle gave it her best, Sonic trying his best to lose the clone. She tried to shout, "Sonic! We need you back!"

Something echoed that into his ears. But a more sinister echo suggested, "It's lying! You are exactly where you should be!"

Sonic, in his heart, knew something was wrong, and stopped, "Okay, I'll give you one shot. What are you chasing me for?"

Tangle turned back to herself, "Sonic, we need you to wake up!"

Tails showed up, "Please, bro, Eggman is terrifyingly powerful."

Belle added, "He's not kidding."

Sonic nodded, "Got it. Belle, kick my head as hard as you can!"

Belle grit her teeth, "Okay Sonic." She pulled her tail, aiming for the head as requested.

The trio were thrown out back into the virtual nightmare world, watching as the red aura and electricity faded, letting Sonic re-awaken. He checked his hands again, "Still yellow eh? I still got it!"

Tangle's eyes were predictably starred at this sight, "I never thought I'd look so good with yellow fur!"

Eggman boomed into their void, "So you 3 are the pests who've been making a mockery of my security!"

Tails smugly told him, "What goes around comes around Eggman!"

Eggman cackled, "You say that like you have any power in my domain." He summoned bolts of deletion to strike them, "Time to exterminate some viruses!"

Sonic suddenly slowed down time, "NO!" And slowed down just in time to touch them each with the tail. An explosion of energy occurred, blowing the Super Lemur back. He desperately asked as the…Smoke? Cleared, "Tails, Belle, Tangle?"

Belle could be heard asking, "A-A-Are we dead?"

Tangle responded, "I don't think so."

Tails agreed, "Nope. Still, this somehow feels…familiar."

Upon finally clearing, the three of them were encompassed in shields of super energy. Sonic was gleeful to see they survived, "It worked!"

Eggman screamed in frustration, voice glitching to Silver for a bit, then going back to his, "I'm the god of this realm, I am your Eternal ruler! How didn't that work?! What is this crap?!"

Sonic answered smugly, or would have if Tails didn't beat him to the punch, "Super Shields!"

Eggman seethed, "You aren't real!"

Belle nervously explained, "Neither…Is…This!"

Tangle, however, had something else to point out, "Super…Shield?"

Sonic offered, "Guess you can't go fully super?"

Tangle still was as chipper as ever, "You kidding?! I've always wanted to feel the power of the Chaos Emeralds! And-" She flew over to her former body, "We're super twins now!"

Sonic's face grew flustered and bright red and screamed like the girl he was stuck as, forcing Belle and Tails to cup their ears. Tangle backed off, "Oh…Right. My bad Sonic."

Eggman's could be heard mumbling in annoyance in a manner that probably wasn't meant to be heard by them, "That lemur's voice is so annoying why do I have to hear two of her now and why can't I zap her out of existence? I swear, it's like they share a braincell, and I hate it."

Sonic now had a sinister grin as he whispered into Tangle's ear, "You thinking what I'm thinking?"

Tangle whispered back, "We play up the sister act to drive him mad?"

Sonic replied succinctly, "Bingo."

Tails and Belle were close enough to hear and agreed with the strategy, Tails summoned popcorn somehow, "This is gonna be good…"

Belle groaned, I wish I knew what eating food was like…

Tangle started, "Hey Eggman! We're the Tangle Twins!"

"And we're gonna take you down!" Replied Sonic.

Eggman sighed in frustration, "You two are annoying me, huh? Well it won't work!"

Tangle continued, "I'm Tangle one!"

"And I'm Tangle two!"

Eggman tried to stop it with all the lightning from all directions, "Quiet, you dumb apes."

Tails and Belle had combined and powered up their shields to block the attack.

"That was rude!"

"Here's what we'll Tangle do!"

Eggman growled, "Ugh, you aren't worth my time!"

Sonic took a moment to sense where the Chaos energy was strongest in this world, as it was currently a foggy mist of occasional lightning. He got a lock and grinned, rushing with his shielded friends.

Eggman was sitting on a throne, protected by a force field, clearly focused on something else…

Silver was resolute, Knuckles stayed focused on the Emerald, who was about 80% percent done at this point. Silver tried his best to hold up, but in the power of this nightmarish dimension powered by the hatred of a spiteful former human, he could sense he was almost at the end of his ropes.

Eggman sensed this and turned the dimension around them into a thunderstorm, launching a thunderbolt at him, "Lights out, leafhead!". He was panicking, but not dropping his guard, with nothing left but hoping his waning barrier's strength could withstand it. He tensed up, expecting this to be the end of their hopes.

When it looked like it hit, he noticed the barrier didn't seem any more damaged by it, and was even recovering. Eggman screamed in a glitchy voice between his two voices, "WH-AAAA-ATTTT?!"

Whent the smoke cleared, a figure with a banana haircut was standing, having taken the blast. Simultaneously, a fennec was absorbing the water from the thunderstorm into his pack. The accompanying tenrec boasted, "Forget us, Eggman?!"

Eggman shouted in rage, "AU-GH!" He let a bunch of rapid fire lighting strikes out at the barrier. Surge absorbed each one. Next up, Eggman turned up the heat to the extreme, but Kit was able to form a water barrier to protect them. Eggman mentally facepalmed, "Right! You two imbeciles can counter that! Then eat this!"

He threw them at an extreme pace. But that neither landed. Eggman shouted, "HOW?!"

On one side, a knuckled glove had punched out of the field, Knuckles boasting, "Forget who you're messing with, egghead!"

He was silent for an uncomfortable amount of time, "...That doesn't explain the other one!"

He saw that on the other side of the barrier was yet another two giant knuckles stopped them, but they were yellow. Surge put hand on the robot replica's shoulder, "Nice shot, buddy!"

Eggman was growing more unstable at this by the second, "This isn't possible! Where did he come from?!"

Mecha Sonic made an appearance next, "WE AREN'T YOUR PAWNS ANYMORE, EGGMAN!"

Eggman's patience with them was fried, no longer shouting, only announcing with a calm voice, "I don't have time for this. Die." He launched every last thing he could at their ragtag team, determined to stop the re-assembly of the Master Emerald.

They were trying their best to hold off this ruthless onslaught of virtual nature, but enough was once again getting through to wear down the barrier down. Silver grimaced. Knuckles, hope you finish the Emerald soon…

The four of them pondered, for a moment. Tails asked, "What's he doing?"

Belle grumbled, "Taking a power trip…Wait, is he talking to Silver?"

While they were talking, the 'twins' were up to something: Their tails were stretched to their limits. Tangle was waiting for the signal, which the two lemurs had agreed to be a wave sent between their tails. After that, Tangle looked at her other friends, "Look out guys!"

They jumped out of the way, and Sonic was ready to punch through the barrier. The sheer amount of force was enough to breaking into the force-field, and in a moment of quick thinking: Sonic roped the others in to drag them all through .

Eggman was only slightly surprised that it worked, "I should know better than to think you wouldn't find your way into here."

Sonic immediately taunted with a grin and raised eyebrow, "A medieval throne? That's awfully old fashioned, Egghog!"

Eggman began laughing longer, harder, and louder than ever before, glitching between Eggman and Silver's voices causing the ground to quake and the force-fielded room to disappear and the transform into a void with circuitry in the distance.

As he stopped, Tail rolled his eyes, "Sheesh, always one for shoddy theatrics."

Sonic winked at him, "What'd you expect from an Eternal idiot?!"

Eggman started his psychic grip around the lemur's neck, "Mock me all you like, Sonic The Lemur and his worthless friends, we both know that the primates vs hedgehogs victory rate is 0%."

Tangle joined in on the snark tongue in cheek, "Don't sell yourself short, Eggman."

Sonic giggled, "True." Upon being dropped, he did a breakdance, finally mastering Tangle's tail enough to compliment the dance instead of hinder it, resembling a ribbon in the manuever, ending on landing on his feet and a triple finger guns at him, "You've gotten some solid wins against me…even if they were temporary."

Eggman growled, "Right, that makes it what…0.1% chance of victory?"

Sonic grabbed him with the tail and punched him even faster than possible with his natural speed. I happened so fast he couldn't stop it in time. During this flight, Sonic caught up and did a laying down pose with hands behind his current head and smirked, "That's enough for me!"

Belle glanced away, "I doubt species is what determines it."

He slammed the mad hedgehog down with a tail palm, starting his new 'paddle ball' technique to pummel the stolen hedgehog's body into the ground, "How's this for primate power, you Godlike failure!"

As more damage was done to the hedgehog, it started glitching, then disintegrated. Tangle was disturbed at that, "What was that?!"

Eggman chuckled with the power to blow Sonic and the others back, "You don't get it, do you, you asinine apes and fellow idiots!" He reformed in front of him, shadow face making clear the infinite confidence and malice that existed in him, "I'm not a mere hedgehog anymore, nor a mere human. I am your EggGOD!"

Tails and Sonic laughed in the face of this seemingly omnipresent threat, Tails asserting, "We know our god, he's an adorable pixie chihuahua."

Sonic did a tail hand dismissal, "You're only cosplaying his power!"

The void went up in flames, Eggman declaring, "This is no mere cosplay, girls and foxboy! I'll make you pay for doubting my status!" He summoned a bunch of cylinders, in each one was what looked like one of their friends, but Their hands weren't right. They were jagged, clawed, and…metal?!

Belle was horrified, "No…You did not!"

He cackled evilly, "Ha! Say hello to our world's next evolutionary step: Roboticization! It came to me in a dream, and now with the power of the Chaos Emeralds, I will make it your nightmare! Kill them or be killed, the choice is yours, Ohohohoho!"

Sonic kept confident, "We're super, you dope. What are they gonna do, sneeze on-" He was suddenly smacked by a hammer, hard enough to send him reeling. Sonic wondered, "What in the-"

Eggman snickered, "They're powered by the Chaos Emeralds too you know!"

Sonic grit his teeth hard enough that they would have broken if not for the super form, "No biggie!" He attempted to dash away towards some tubes(?) in the distance, "They'll never catch-" But then he hit an invisible wall.

Tangle panicked, "We can't escape?

Eggman snidely countered, "I may not be able to do the same to you, but you won't be breaking your way out of this one!"

The 4 were doing their best to fend off the hoard of roboticized friends.

Belle exclaimed, "What do we do?!"

Tangle suggested, "Hold the off-AUGH!" Her digital tail had been grabbed and was getting siphoned off Mecha Amy, "Guys! Help!"

Eggman boasted with as much venom as possible, "Behold, the true power of friendship: Sucking you dry! HA!"

Sonic panicked, punching Mecha Amy. But, to his horror, a frolic of hair broke off as a result. "..WHAT?!"

Eggman cackled, "You didn't expect me to make this easy for you, did you?! They can siphon your super energy and I made sure their new bodies were…breakable, so each hit you do to your precious former friends might permanently damage them! Hehehehehe!"

The four bit their tongues, Tangle whispering to Sonic, "This is low, even for him."

Sonic agreed, "You got that right, sis." Every last bit of smugness was gone, as they all realized this was a deathly serious situation.

Tails sadly announced, "Our only option then, is to dodge as long as possible."

Tangle wrapped her tail around herself with enough room to stick out arms, "Got it!"

Sonic chuckled, "Great thinking!" He replicated the maneuver, and from there, the four had to start doing their best to avoid being touched or locked down.

Silver had noticed the power was dissipating, "Oh thank goodness, I can recharge!"

Surge smiled, "Great, just what I wanted to hear. We'll get out of this, Psychic!"

Knuckles was about to finish putting the last piece in, "Almost got-OOF!"

Eggman shot in another shockwave and boomed back into the thunderstorm, "I'm not done with you fools yet! No completing that thing under my watch."

Silver frustratedly had to give it his all again, "Dag nabbit!"

Mecha Sonic snipped back, "COMPLAIN LATER, PROTECT EMERALD NOW!"

Surge admitted, "Don't have to tell me twice."

Kit didn't have much to add, nor could Mecha Knuckles. Eggman was giving them his all again.

In a different vision, Whisper was seeing her friends berate her for her leaving them to die or worse. She'd expected the old ones, but this vision went for the jugular by summoning visions of her current friends. (Whisper!)

Lanolin barked (Whisper!), "You lovestruck idiot! You've gotten us killed by Eggman!"

Sonic growled, "You did this to me!" His form was disturbingly transforming into Tangle as he ranted, the voice morphing too, "Because I couldn't truly be your girlfriend, you're trying to morph me into her instead! And it's driving me mad!" By the end, his finished face (Whisper!) had the fakest of smiles, "Boy I sure do love being forced to…recontextualize my closest friendships!" He winced.

Lastly was Tangle, who morphed from (Whisper!) the ground, "I wish I could love you like a girlfriend, Whisper…But you took that from me. I'll never know love again!" She morphed into Eggman, "But at least I can shapeshift! That's cool…right!"

Whisper was backing into a corner, when she heard a voice, (Whisper!)

She was shaken out of this torturous stupor. She looked around, "Who's there?!"

Pink wisp appeared with the others, all of them flying in to hug her. She asked, "Wisps?! How?!"

Pink cried, "Shadow fired us off at Eggman as a distraction."

Green added, "So we could help you!"

A voice that she could swear she recognized spoke out, "Now go out and save your friends!"

Whisper smiled with tears in her eyes, "Say no more."

Whisper awoke, the aura shattered, but didn't see any sign of her wisps, "Wisps?! Wisps?! Where are you?!"

Blue spoke, We…Seem to still be part of you…

She wondered, "What?" She spotted a puddle nearby, and saw in her aura some new colors occasionally in that yellow fur. But, more surprising, blue eyes. She smiled, "My true eye color?" She didn't know what to make of it, only continuing to cry. Then she looked around at Blaze and Shadow, knowing what had to be done. She wished she had her wispon to use the cube mode and smack them out of whatever happened…And suddenly felt that hammer shape appear in hand.

She smirked, smashing the static mind attacks away, making them wake up. Blaze wondered, "Urg, Eggman's tougher than I thought."

Whisper asked Shadow, "What'd he do to you?"

He closed eyes, "None of your business."

Whisper saw the thunder cloud, asking them, "Should we go investigate that?"

Blaze agreed, "On it!" And off they flew.

The super swapped duo went, doing a bit of small talk as Shadow amusedly noted, "Finally got your eyes back."

Whisper nodded, "As have you…And it creeps me out."

Shadow smirked, "Fair," He winked, "You're scary yourself."

Entering the cloud, they saw a scary sight indeed: Every hazard Eggman could throw at them was. Blaze grit her teeth, "Eggman's trying to stop Knuckles!"

Shadow wondered, "What's stopping that?"

Whisper teleported up, seeing what was going on and it brought tears to her eyes: Silver was giving his all with two layers of psychic shield, letting the four on the outside protect from obstacles while Knuckles was trying and currently failing to finish the Master Emerald. At the top broke her heart, Silver was giving it his all, but was clearly struggling and in intense pain.

She heard his voice shout, "Whisper, please help! I need your kiss!"

Whisper was flustered, "Wha-"

Blaze dashed up to explain, "Don't listen, Silver doesn't flirt like that. He didn't say a word."

Eggman went back to normal voice and taunted, "Ha! You two hedgehogs should kiss, marry, and have-OH WAIT! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

That cut Whisper deep, making her grit her teeth in sadness. Silver however was undeterred, declaring to Eggman confusedly, "I have no idea what you're talking about! I'm only here to save my friends from you, thief!"

Eggman went silent, "Wait...SERIOUSLY?! You have GOT to be KIDDING ME!"

Whisper began to laugh heavily, but earnestly and shedding tears simultaneously. Silver was confused, "What's so funny? Am I butt of the joke?"

Shadow spoke, "No. That's not my cynical laugh. It's genuine."

Pink asked from in her head, You're seriously considering this guy?

Whisper wiped a tear upon finishing the laugh, "Silver…never change." She flew over to him, doing her best to hug the super-ghost. "We'll get through this, I promise."

Silver nodded, hugging back the best he could, "Thanks Whisper." His power increased from this self-confidence boost, "I won't let you down!"

Blaze took a stand next to him, "I'll make sure of it!"

This boost in shield gave Knuckles the time to finish the Emerald, "Finally, Now I need to-OWWWWWWW!"

Eggman resorted to his last defense: Quakes and shockwaves to force Knuckles to the floor and keep him from focusing on the final chant, "NO! I WILL NOT LOSE TO THAT STUPID ROCK!"

Surge and Kit plugged their ears, "Sheesh, he loves the sound of his own voice!" Surge exclaimed.

Blaze requested,, "Now you two! Go find Eggman! We'll protect them in case Eggman tries anything funny!"

The swapped super-duo nodded, going back to the force-field.

Shadow rolled eyes on the flight back, "Do you crush on all your friends?"

Whisper dismissed it, "Not all. I won't let Eggman destroy my friends. Never again."

Shadow closed eyes and grinned, "That's the spirit!"

She instinctually wanted to fire a lazer at Eggman, and accidentally did from the super-wispon(?) appearing again. She fired lazer, but it only bounced.

Shadow was annoyed, "Great, even your new powers aren't enough."

Whisper, however, new instinctually what to try next, "Wisps, I think we're gonna need all your power to get through this!"

They instinctually let her know they were ready. She charged a blast powered by all 5 of them. Shadow knew to fly back to give this space. After using this, it flew through the force-field with ease. Shadow quickly flew in after this, smirking, "Guess friends can help."

Whisper raised an eyebrow in confusion, but instead chose to prioritze what was happening in the arena, seeing Sonic, now golden with green eyes, and his friends dodging super-powered robots.

The Amy bot taunted, "COME ON SONIC, YOU KNOW YOU'RE MINE!"

Sonic was dodging desparately, "You'll feel so embarrassed when you return to normal, Amy."

The robot snickered hideously, "AMY?" The robot's eyes changed to blue, "WE SACRIFICED OURSELVES FOR YOU SONIC-"

The 'Vector' Robot's eyes glowed green and seamlessly added, "AND ALL WE GOT FOR IT WAS-"

Robot 'Mighty' joined next, eyes glowing yellow, "ETERNAL SERVITUDE!"

Robot 'Espio' cried, "ALL POSSIBLE BECAUSE YOU VALUED THAT TAIL OVER YOUR MASCULINITY!"

Robot 'Tumble' whined, "IT'S TIME WE TAKE BACK WHAT IS OURS!"

Robot 'Big' growled, "HELPING YOU IDIOTS WAS A MISTAKE!"

Robot 'Lanolin' glared, "YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT THRILLS YOU PSYCHOTIC EXCUSE OF A HEDGEHOG! NOW GIVE US OUR POWER!"

Sonic was genuinely hurting from this, Tangle reminding him, "Don't listen, they're being forced to say that by Eggman's programming!"

Whisper flew at them, but hit the wall. She punched it in frustration, "Why can't we get in?!"

Shadow flew up and put a hand on her, "Can we? CHAOS CONTROL!"

They appeared in the middle of them, Belle noticed, "Oh! Hi there you two!"

Whisper asked, "What's going on?!"

Shadow dashed in to fight, Sonic panicking, "Shadow! WAIT!" The tail launching out to grab a leg.

Tangle further elaborated, "They're our friends turned into robots! We can't hurt them!"

Shadow instantly flew with the tail to wrap the 6 of them and declared, "Then we escape! CHAOS CONTROL!" They escaped with that.

Belle asked after they were out, "...What next? Are we just gonna leave them?"

Whisper thought for a moment, noticing Mecha Lanolin, "Wait a minute…Let me try something." She teleported over to Mecha Lanolin, stealing her bell, and teleported back. She checked it, and to her delight it still contained Maggie. She broke her out, and the wisp started exclaiming sounds she couldn't understand. Whisper calmly explained, "Maggie, try to fly into me!" The wisp looked confused, but tried it.

Whisper tried talked into her shared self, Maggie, what's going on?

But the voice that came was far more familiar than expected, First, I'm not quite Maggie.

Whisper's eyes widened, LANOLIN?!

Blue wondered, Eggman is a jerk.

Orange noted, Cruelty has its benefits.

Cyan added, For us!...I hope!

Tangle teased, "Whisper, you got quiet all of a sudden!"

Sonic teased Tangle back, "You're surprised?" Then gave her 'sis' a noogie, "It's her name you goof!"

Tangle laughed, "More quiet, mrs. sass-a-lot!"

Sonic did a tail salute and wink, "You know it!"

Whisper had noticed, thinking to herself, They're adorable. She wasn't in the mood to consider any implications of that thought and went to explaining, "I didn't absorb Maggie…I absorbed Lanolin."

Shadow snarked, "Weird. Now let's get out of here!"

Tangle screamed, "Are you crazy?! We can't leave them like that!"

Whisper wondered, but Lanolin suggested by briefly taking control, "There might be a way…"

Belle wondered, "Woah, that doesn't sound like Whisper."

Tangle suggested, "Nope. Probably Lanolin."

Lanolin answered, "You got that right! See those tubes? Force them back into them, give it power, and we will restore them!"

Shadow asked with hands to hips he wished he couldn't wait to lose. "That seems dangerous."

Tangle and Sonic winked, grinned, and put arms around each other, "We're in…" Sonic broke slightly to doubt, "If that's possible…"

Tangle noogied him back, "You doubt her? At least let Tails and Belle answer that question first."

Tails thought, "Those look like they take a lot of electricity."

Belle looked at them, "But, if we can find the power, it might work."

Whisper reasserted control, "I have my wisps." Showing it with different colors radiating from her.

Tangle smiled, "Then it's settled. Great thinking LanoMaggie! Magolin?"

Lanolin took back control to declare, "You call me either again, you clean our toilet for a month!"

Sonic teased, "Sheesh. You really are a buzzkill like Shadow. When's your first date?"

Lanolin was too flustered to respond, making it easy for Whisper to cement control. She asked Lanolin, Please stop taking control from me, please.

Lanolin apologized, Roger that. Tangle has a way of getting on my nerves, but I apologize.

Shadow smirked, "Let's do it then!"

Tangle and Sonic both hugged them all together with their tails, "You got it, buddy!" They spoke in unison.

Shadow groaned, "CHAOS CONTROL!"

They re-appeared back in the force field. Sonic reminded them, "Remember, don't hurt them! Put them into the capsules safely!"

Tangle launched her tail at the flying Mecha 'Lanolin', "Sorry, Maggie-lin." She dragged her rapidly into one before dropping her safely and closing it.

Whisper grabbed Mecha 'Vector' and teleported into one and teleported out. Shadow did the same to Mecha 'Espio'. Belle let Mecha 'Mighty' pull her tail, triggering her kick to send him in, which Sonic used his current tail to soften the impact. He gave Belle a tail-five, getting Shadow's snark, "You really are getting too comfortable with that."

Sonic shrugged and threw Mecha 'Big' into another while speaking back, "You say 'comfortable'." Then the tail stroked the wolf's chin, "I say 'mastered'."

Whisper glared at Sonic and rolled eyes, getting an apology, "Oh…Sorry Whisper! You two would be adorable together!"

Whisper, however, smiled, "I forgive you. If anything, I wish Tangle would flirt with me."

Tangle threw Mecha 'Tumble' into another, "Oh Whisper, you only had to ask. You're as cute as a…Uh…Dog."

Whisper shook her head and was suddenly regretting saying anything, Sonic tail-pulling her aside, "Sis, you might be out of your depth."

Tangle wrapped her tail around her head in a not-quite-sweat, "I don't know what to do Sonic! I've never had to flirt before!"

Sonic winked at his 'sis', "It just takes some practice. How about I say something and you lip-sync it." He whispered the flirt before Tangle tried speaking it.

Tangle 'spoke', "Whisper, beyond a Shadow of a doubt you're the greatest…thing to ever…happen to me!"

Whisper noticed some obvious mismatches with the voice and lips and smiled, "Sonic…Thanks for trying."

Sonic blatantly falsely and awkwardly denied it, "No, that was all Tangle. Had nothing to do with it!"

Whisper giggled, "You're sounding even more like Tangle…And it's weirding me out."

Tangle tail wrapped her 'sis' towards her, making Sonic awkwardly blush in embarrassment, "He does fit my shoes, doesn't he?"

Tails asserted himself into the conversation to tease his gender-inverted brother, "Objectively, yes."

Sonic was brighter red, "Guys, WHY?!"

Tangle gave him another noogie, "Relax, it confirms that you've done great as me!"

Belle admitted, "Yeah, If it weren't for your golden glow and green eyes, I'd confuse you two constantly."

Sonic wondered, "Why does-" Then he remembered their previous discussion, "-Oh right." Gave a soft smile suggesting it was genuinely sweet to hear, "Thank you, Tangle."

She flew over to Whisper with her true body in tow, hugging them together, "Group hug time!"

Lanolin groaned from inside Whisper, You guys are getting awfully sidetracked…

Shadow had just finished handling Mecha 'Amy' and putting her in the last tube. He growled, "You idiots are lucky I got sucked into this."

Tails next asked, "Now…How do we power these things?"

Whisper put her hands on one, letting out the electricity from her wisps to try and power the one trapping 'Lanolin'. It was clear this was, even despite her access to Shadow's full unlimited power and the Wisps, very taxing, barely working. Whisper fell down on the ground afterwards.

Tangle and Sonic ran over, both asking simultaneously, "Whisper! Are you alright?"

She took a long enough time to respond to make them concerned, but got back on her feet, "I'm fine." Tangle helped her up, "But I don't think I can do it again."

Then the others magically turned on restoring their friends, Belle wondering, "How?"

Sage appeared before them, "It was me."

'Vector' was the first to walk out and say, "How did we…" She spotted Sage, "Thank you, Sage."

Sage remarked, "I can protect your friends here."

Sonic teased the AI girl, "Oh, daddy's little girl has a rebellious streak?! Not that I'm surprised."

Sage glared ice-cold, "I see what's happened to him since he became your friend. I can barely recognize him anymore. It's for his sake, not yours."

Sonic winked, "I don't need an explanation."

She pointed them toward Eggman's final lair in this dimension, "No time! He's growing crazier and deadlier by the second. Best of luck, you're our final hope, Sonic the former hedgehog."

Sonic wrapped his super friends in the tail to head off, "Sure thing, Sage! Thank you so much!"

Belle suggested, "Do you mind if I stay here with Sage?"

Tails nodded, "Sure, Belle."

And so they left. Sage asked her, "Do you not trust me?"

Belle looked down sadly, "No, but I want to. I never thought I'd get a sister. I want to hear your story."

Sage nodded, "Very well."

While heading further and further into what seemed to go on forever. Shadow grumbled, "You sure that girl isn't setting us up for a trap?"

Tangle admitted, "Maybe."

Tails looked up, seeing what was clearly Silver's body wearing Eggman's outfit. Sonic tried to punch up. It was denied by a speeding dark-blue ball.

Eggman laughed, "Ah, so you pests finally found me! You didn't expect me not to have reinforcements, did you?"

'Sonic' posed, "I have some unfinished business with you, faker!"

Eggman trapped him and the real Sonic in a recreation of Stardust Speedway. Eggman announced, "Your last chance to put this wannabe in his place! DON'T let me down!"

However, Whisper blasted through with a All-Colors attack, ending the illusion. 'Sonic' Whined, "No fair! You stole my moment from me!" He spoke even as he was now forced to see them and also the dragon, which had somehow caught up.

Whisper glared, "We aren't playing by your rules anymore, Eggman!"

Tangle hugged her would-be girlfriend, "We never were!"

Eggman raged, "Such arrogance coming from you foolish children." He began to set sub-routines to continue harassing and stunning Knuckles, descending, glowing red with his entire stolen body pitch-black, "Fortunately for you, your new god is ready to teach you some humility!"

Sonic rolled eyes, "Speak for yourself!" Sonic tried to punch him in the face, Eggman dodging with ease, rapidly tied his and Tangle's current tails into so many knots as to render them quickly useless.

Eggman laughed, "Lesson 1, fool: I'm in charge, I make the rules!"

Eggman got blasted with fire from Trip, making him growl and blowing her back with a shockwave and trapped her in a cage, "Lesson 2: Defy me all you like, this won't be dragon on for long!"

Whisper glared viciously at Eggman, "No…"

Eggman glared, "And what are you gonna do about-"

Whisper quietly explained, "Make…You…Pay…"

Eggman smiled, "I'd like to see you try!" He took a fighting pose, "Come at me!" He was hoping to distract her long enough that his son could dispose of her.

'Sonic' tried to attack her accordingly, but Shadow appeared and kicked him off trajectory, "No, you faker, you're gonna fight me!"

Eggman groaned, "Right…No matter. You're powerless to harm m-"

Whisper sped at him and grabbed leg. For the first time since attaining this form in this realm, Eggman was afraid. Whisper did not disappoint, blasting him in a maze of beams with her super-powered wisp abilities, "This is for Slinger!" This disoriented Eggman, Whisper capitalizing with a follow-up Spike combination to form gears, "Smithy!" Then a cube hammer combo, "Claire!" She summoned a Bell wispon to create a powerful shockwave, "Lanolin!" After being sent viciously flying, Whisper teleported, firing several blasts of rocket one after another!

Eggman, whose outfit was barely left at all, struggled to stand up, "Who was that for, you sentimental wolf!"

She smirked, "None but Me!"

Eggman revealed his struggle was pretending, "Congrats on destroying my outfit, you must find my new body quite attractive! But…I notice you're not wearing limiter rings. How much longer will you last, dog?"

Whisper wouldn't admit it, but she was starting to feel a decline in power, enough to struggle to stay awake. Eggman laughed, "That's what I thought!" He walked towards her, hands glowing dark-red, "Night night, Diamond Cutters!"

Eggman was hit in the face by a blue ball, growling, "Sonic, why?!"

'Sonic' was dizzy from his fight with the real Shadow going far worse than anticipated, Shadow snarking, "That was me. Threw your metalhead that's a pathetic excuse for 'Sonic'. You should restart on him, Eggman, cause he's the real loathsome copy!"

'Sonic''s red eyes glowed angrily, "SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP!" He charged at him, Shadow taking his momentum and slamming it and stomping him.

Shadow laughed, "The real Sonic can take an insult. You're just insulting."

Eggman gripped the current wolf, summoning a meteor, "I will not let you bully my son!"

Shadow, despite the pain of this attack, bit back, "Don't need to, he can do it for me!"

Eggman's eyes lit on fire, "HOW DARE YOU! 3 meteors! I'll make a Whisper cube out of you!"

A moment later, he was hit in the face by a golden hand with fingerless gloves. He growled, "How!"

The tail-tied lemurs winked, Tangle starting, "Your jail faltered! And you looked thirsty!"

Sonic winked and declared, "For some punch!" They untied their tails and double punched the gray hedgehog. He then got a vicious taste of fire breath from the dragon. Eggman summoned some more empowered and physical prisons to hold them this time. Sonic tried to punch Eggman in the middle of it, but 'Sonic' stopped him.

The mad Hedgehog declared, "You think your pitiful efforts matter! I'm Doctor Ivo Robotnik, the Eternal Egghog who reigns supreme over the Eternal Eggman Empire! I am the most powerful being ever born on earth! I will rule the cosmos and beyond! You are all nothing before me! You are but roadbumps on my quest to be a multiversal ruler! Everyone will know my name! What can you do now to possibly stop me!"

Sonic shrugged, "Nothing. You win Eggman."

'Sonic' was dumbfounded, "Seriously? You, Sonic the Hedgehog, give up."

Sonic laughed, "Awwwwww, you addressed me properly for once. But, I'm not Sonic anymore, you win." He depowered down, "I'm Tangle the Lemur, and always will be."

Tangle joined in, "But yes, you win, Eggman. We'll be the tail sisters now. Could be worse."

Shadow attacked 'Sonic' in the middle of this in disbelief, "I know you aren't a quitter, Sonic! Are you gonna leave me to handle them on my own?!"

Sonic winked, "Yep."

Eggman glared, "Don't lie to me! What's your new plan, Lemur?!"

He laid back in pretend relaxation, "Absolutely nothing."

Eggman heard an announcement from his VR OS, "SPACE SYMPHONY PROTOCOL: CANCELLED!"

Eggman panicked, "WHAT?! That's supposed to run until I say so! How, Sonic?!"

'She' replied, "Sorry Eggman, Sonic's dead." And then came his most malicious grin possible, "And dead men tell no Tails."

Eggman looked up, seeing Tails on the virtual console and having successfully hacked and canceled his protocol. Tails laughed, "Great distraction guys! Now let's hope Knuckles can-URK!"

Eggman growled, "I'll make you pay for your insolence, fools!" He started slamming the virtual fox into the ground over and over.

'Sonic' suggested, "Eggman-"

He snapped back, "CAN'T YOU SEE THAT I'M BUSY SON! I'LL TALK TO YOU IN A BIT! I HAVE A FOXBOY TO PUNISH FIRST!"

'Sonic' facepalmed.

With the protocol down, Knuckles was finally able to stand firmly. Blaze declared, "There we go!"

Surge glared at Knuckles, "Get on with it, you redhead!"

Knuckles grinned, "On it!" Knuckles began the chant, "The servers are the seven Chaos. Chaos is power, power is enriched by the heart. The Controller is the one that unifies the Chaos. Only you can do this. Stop the Chaos Emeralds!"

Upon announcement, the world of Eggman's VR headset disappeared. He panicked, "NO! Son…ic! Why didn't you-?! AHHHHHHH!"

'Sonic' closed his eyes, "I tried."

Sonic and Tangle smiled, hugging together their friends together one last time in this place, "We did it team!" Tangle declared.

Sonic gave Tails a noogie, "You were just the stinker we needed!"

Shadow laughed, "Distraction? Not gonna lie, that was brilliant, little fox."

Belle asked, "But…We're probably going back into the EggNet after this. What then?"

Tails shrugged, "Watch, and then return home I guess."

Tangle smiled, "I'm ready."

Whisper struggled to put out another whisper, "Thank…You…Tails."

They all grinned as the dimension disappeared before their eyes.
