The Straw Hats had been watching from a distance as the sea around the Thousand Sunny was calmer than the waves around the battleships. Collective gasps came from the crew as they watched their captain get hit by a net and knocked overboard into the sea.
"Luffy!" Nami cried out, her hands covering her mouth in shock.
Usopp, Zoro and Sanji each looked equally alarmed and concerned as they watched Luffy's body disappear below the surface.
"No!" Aria screamed as she threw herself against the Sunny's railing, gripping it firmly. "Luffy!"
The rest of the crew dashed to the railings, their faces filled with worry and desperation.
"We have to do something!" Usopp exclaimed, his hands clenching in frustration. "We can't just let Luffy drown out there!"
"We can't just jump in after him," Sanji said, his eyes fixed on the churning water. "We'd be sitting ducks, easy targets for the marines."
Zoro nodded in agreement. "The sea is too rough," he added, his voice firm. "The waves are too violent, we'll be thrown around like ragdolls if we tried to swim in that."
"Then what do we do?" Usopp cried out, the panic starting to creep into his voice. "We can't just stand here and do nothing while Luffy's out there drowning!"
Aria's face was filled with horror. Was Luffy going to die? Her heart pounded in her chest as the tears welled up in her fear-filled eyes. "LUFFYYY!" She cried out at the top of her lungs, her strained voice carrying over the roaring of the sea and the thunder clapping overhead. The crew members' eyes were filled with desperation as they heard Aria's anguished cry. Aria began to sob, her body trembling with fear and worry. "Please, come back to us!" She shouted, even though she knew Luffy couldn't hear her. The words escaped her mouth, like a prayer she didn't even realize she was making. She couldn't bear the thought of losing Luffy.
The crew exchanged glances, their hearts heavy with worry and helplessness. Just then, almost immediately following Aria's anguished cry, the sound of whispers could be heard through the air. Aria looked around, unable to make out where the whispers were coming from or what they were saying. The wind continued howling and the thunder roared through the sky. Aria looked back onto the ocean where Luffy had fallen in, her eyes filled with tears, when suddenly, she noticed something. A strange light emanated from the depths below and the water began to swirl.
Zoro's eyes widened as he noticed the strange light. "What the hell is that?" he asked, his voice dripping with suspicion.
Nami, however, let out a gasp, her eyes fixed on the light. "It's...it's coming from the sea!" she exclaimed. The crew looked up in surprise.
"But...that...that's impossible, right?" Usopp stuttered, his eyes still fixed on the mesmerizing light. "Water...doesn't just start glowing out of nowhere!"
"That's the spot where Luffy fell in!" Aria gasped, her eyes fixed on the water that was now swirling in a circular motion in the spot where he fell.
Sanji's eyes widened as the realization hit him. "Luffy..." he muttered, his voice barely a whisper. The crew members exchanged glances, their hearts racing with a mixture of fear and hope as they all stared silently at the glowing water that was now creating a whirlpool-like spiral.
The movement of the water seemed supernatural, especially the way it illuminated. Just then, a large current shot up from the glowing whirlpool. The crew let out a collective gasp as they saw Luffy, seemingly unconscious and still caught in a net, being lifted out of the sea by the current. The current lifted itself up at least 20 feet above the ocean's surface, like a giant fist of water.
"Luffy!" The crew members called out in unison, their voices filled with a mixture of relief and disbelief as they watched their captain be carefully lifted by the current of the ocean, which seemed to have a mind of its own. The current began moving away from the battleships where Luffy had been and toward the Thousand Sunny. Kado and the other marines watched in disbelief as the spectacle took place before them.
"What in the world!" exclaimed one of the Marines. "How is this even possible?" Another Marine commented as they all watched in shock as Luffy's unconscious body was slowly being carried back towards the Thousand Sunny by ocean.
Kado watched intently, his mind racing to try to comprehend what he was witnessing. This wasn't a technique used by devil fruit users; this was something else entirely, something supernatural. The water itself was acting as if it had a will of its own.
"There's no way..." Kado muttered to himself, his eyes narrowing in concentration as he tried to make sense of what was happening. The Marines around him were just as shocked and confused as he was, their faces displaying a mixture of awe and disbelief.
Meanwhile, the current made its way to the Sunny. It splashed against the ship in a giant wave, throwing Luffy on board, before the wave dispersed completely. The impact of Luffy's unconscious body against the deck of the ship echoed loudly as the water splashed around him. The entire crew stared in disbelief, their faces contorted with a mix of relief and concern.
Zoro was the first to rush forward, immediately checking on their captain. "Luffy!" he called out, his voice filled with worry. "Can you hear us?"
Luffy's body lay still, caught in the netting, his face blank and unresponsive. The crew quickly gathered around him, their eyes filled with worry as they observed their Captain.
Sanji spoke, his voice tense. "Is he...is he okay?"
Aria rushed to Luffy, falling to her knees by his side. "Luffy." She said softly, her eyes filled with tears. The crew watched in silence as Aria knelt beside him, her eyes glistening with worry. She reached out and gently touched his face, as if trying to coax him back to consciousness. "Luffy...please wake up," she pleaded, her voice shaking.
Zoro crouched down next to Aria, his voice low. "Give him a moment," he said, resting a hand on her shoulder. "Luffy's tough. He'll come around."
The crew stood in anxious silence, the tension palpable in the air. Each of them were deeply concerned about their captain, their leader and friend. Suddenly, Luffy's eyes fluttered open, and he let out a soft groan.
"Uh...ow..." Luffy muttered, as he slowly came to his senses, his head spinning. Luffy groaned as he slowly opened his eyes, his head throbbing with pain. The last thing he remembered was falling into the water, and the next thing he knew, he was lying on the deck of the ship. He raised his hand to his head, rubbing it in confusion. "What the hell..." he muttered, trying to piece together what had just happened. His mind was fuzzy, and he couldn't remember how he had gotten back onto the ship.
"Luffy?" Aria's eyes lit up, amazed and utterly thankful that he was alive.
Zoro stepped forward and began to cut away at the netting still around him. The rest of the crew joined in, carefully untangling Luffy from the confines of the net.
"Man, these marines sure know how to give us a run for our money," Sanji grumbled.
Once he was free, Zoro helped Luffy stand up, holding him by the arm to make sure he was steady. Luffy stood up on his own, still a bit dazed, but otherwise unharmed.
Aria looked at him, her eyes meeting his. Just then, she threw her arms around him tightly. "I thought we lost you." She said, her voice trembling with the flood of emotions she was trying to hold back.
Despite his tough facade, Luffy's heart melted as he felt Aria's arms wrapped around him, her head resting against his chest. His arms encircled her automatically, holding her close. "Hey, hey, I'm alright," he reassured her, gently patting her back. "It takes more than that to take me down."
The rest of the crew watched the tender moment between their captain and Aria, their own relief mirrored on their faces. The rain was coming down more gently now.
"What the hell happened?" Luffy asked, still feeling dazed. His head was throbbing, and he felt a sense of fatigue that seemed to run deep through his bones. He was still trying to piece together the events that led up to his fall.
"You fell into the ocean," Aria explained, her voice still shaky. "You were unconscious for a while. We thought...we thought we lost you."
Usopp scratched his head in confusion. "Okay, so what the heck was that weird light coming from the water?" he asked. "And how the hell did the sea just lift Luffy up and carry him back to the ship?"
Luffy's confusion deepened. "Weird light? What're you talking about? I don't remember any of that."
"I'm serious," Usopp replied. "There was a weird light coming from the water, and the sea just carried you back to us. It was like some sort of magic."
Zoro grunted. "Yeah, I saw it too," he said. "It was strange. I've never seen anything like it before."
Luffy rubbed his head again, trying to remember. "I don't remember anything after I hit the water. It's all blank."
Sanji lit a cigarette and took a drag. "Well, whatever it was, it saved your life. You should count yourself lucky, Captain."
Luffy nodded, still feeling a bit dazed. "Yeah, I guess I am."
Suddenly, Zoro spoke up. "Hey, wait a minute..." he said, looking over at Aria. "Aria, what was that you said over the ocean right before the light came?"
Aria's eyes widened as she realized what Zoro was getting at. "I just...I was just calling out for Luffy to come back," she said, her voice quieter. The rest of the crew looked at her, realization dawning on their faces as well.
"Wait a second," Sanji said. "You called out to Luffy, right before the ocean brought him back?"
Aria nodded, feeling a sense of unease creeping up in her stomach.
Nami's eyes widened.
Luffy looked at Aria incredulously. "You mean...you're telling me the ocean brought me back because you called out to me?"
Aria shrugged, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I don't know...it sounds crazy, I know. I couldn't just stand there and watch you die. I called out to you and then, suddenly, the ocean just... did something. It was like it heard me."
The crew exchanged wide-eyed looks, their minds racing. It was an incredible and impossible thing, but they couldn't deny what had just happened.
Sanji exhaled loudly. "Well I'll be damned. So you really can talk to the ocean, huh?"
Aria blushed. "I guess so. But I don't really know how it works or how to control it or anything."
Luffy laughed, his eyes sparkling. "That's so cool! You saved my life, Aria! That's badass!"
Aria chuckled, her cheeks growing even warm. "I don't know if I saved your life...the ocean kind of did all the work."
Zoro chuckled. "No, I'm with Luffy on this one. That was pretty badass."
Aria smiled, feeling a sense of warmth spread through her chest. "Thanks, guys. But really, I had no idea I could do that. I just...acted on instinct."
Robin gave a knowing smile. "Instinct can be powerful. You just discovered something new about yourself, Aria. You have a unique ability."
Aria nodded, still feeling a bit overwhelmed. "I guess so. But it's also a bit scary. What if I can't control it? What if it gets me or any of you hurt?"
Usopp chimed in, looking nervous. "Yeah, that's a good point. We've never heard of anyone with abilities like that before. It's uncharted territory, literally."
Brook chuckled. "But think of all the possibilities, my dear! You could use your sea whispering for so many wonderful things."
Jinbe, who had been silent, nodded in agreement with Brook.
Luffy's eyes widened. "Yeah! Like what about fish? Could you talk to fish?"
Aria chuckled at the question. Chopper had asked her the same one the day before. "Well, I don't know about that, although I would be curious what a fish might have to say."
Sanji was already thinking of how Aria's abilities could be used to their advantage. "Or, imagine this...what if you could use your sea whispering to make the ship move faster? With less drag from the water."
The crew was so distracted and enthusiastic by Luffy's safe return and Aria's abilities that they had almost completely forgotten the fact that they were surrounded by 10 marine warships.
Kado had witnessed what transpired. He heard the cries of the young girl on the Straw Hat ship and he saw the ocean respond to her cries. He witnessed the current rise from the sea and pull Monkey D. Luffy out of the water and return him back to the Straw Hat ship. A knowing expression formed on his face, a calculating look in his eyes. He had heard stories about sea whisperers, but had thought they were just that...stories. But now, witnessing it for himself, he knew that there was something about that girl on the Straw Hat ship. Something extraordinary.
He could see the potential that this girl had. The gift of sea whispering was a very rare and powerful one, one that the World Government would be very interested in. An idea formed in his mind, a plan taking shape. He turned to one of his subordinates on the ship. "Send out a report to Headquarters immediately. We have valuable information."
The subordinate nodded and left to carry out his orders, while Kado turned his attention back to the Straw Hat's ship in the distance. "Looks like we have a new target," he murmured to himself, a sly smile on his face. "And I have a feeling she may just be worth her weight in gold."
The thought of capturing Aria and making her an asset to the World Government sent a thrill through Kado.
Meanwhile, on the Sunny, the crew was still engaged in brainstorming ideas for Aria's newfound abilities. They were caught up in their own thoughts and had forgotten about battleships that surrounded them. Zoro, however, noticed the warships approaching and his hand gripped the hilt of his swords. "Hey," he called out to the rest of the crew. "We've got a problem."
Luffy looked up and followed Zoro's gaze to the approaching warships.
"Damn," Sanji said, seeing the warships. "Looks like we're in for a scrap."
Franky nodded in agreement, pointing to the damage sustained on the ship. "Yeah, and we've already taken a beating from those cannonballs. We can't afford to take anymore hits like that."
Sanji quickly assessed the situation. "We can't stay here," he said. "We need to get moving before the ship takes anymore damage."
Nami nodded in agreement. "But where do we go? We're surrounded by warships on all sides. We can't use the coup de burst. The ship's too damaged."
Zoro cracked his knuckles, a steely look in his eye. "Well, if they want a fight, we'll give 'em one."
"Wait." Aria said, her voice low and firm. "I want to try something." The crew turned to look at Aria, curious what she had in mind. Aria walked to the railing and looked out to the warships, a determined expression on her face.
The rest of the crew watched as Aria took a deep breath and closed her eyes. They all waited in silence, wondering what she was doing.
Aria listened to the sound of the waves against the ship. The storm overheard had temporarily ceased, although the sky was still dark and ominous overhead and the wind whipped through her long hair.
Suddenly, a loud voice echoed across the sea, carried by the wind. It was the voice of Vice Admiral Kado. "Straw Hat Pirates!" he called out. "We know you have a sea whisperer on board! Surrender her now."
The crew tensed up upon hearing Kado's voice. Luffy's eyes widened, realizing that their secret had been discovered.
"Damn, they know," Zoro muttered.
Nami's frown deepened. "This isn't good. If the navy knows about Aria, they'll stop at nothing to get her."
"What do we do?" Chopper said, sounding worried.
Sanji placed a reassuring hand on Chopper's shoulder. "We'll figure something out," he said, but his voice betrayed his own worry.
Meanwhile, Aria was still in concentration, her mind fixed on the sound of the waves, her heart racing with worry about her crew. She began to whisper quietly, her words intelligible.
The rest of the crew watched her nervously. Usopp couldn't help but mutter under his breath, "What's she doing?"
Robin, however, seemed to sense something. "I think Aria is trying to speak to the sea."
Just then, Aria opened her eyes, and the water around the battleships began to churn. The crew watched in shock as the sea around the warships seemed to come alive, the water churning and bubbling as if responding to Aria's words.
"What the..?" Luffy said, his eyes wide with amazement.
"Is she doing that?" Franky asked, sounding impressed.
"Looks like it," Nami replied, watching the churning water in disbelief.
Aria's whisperings continued, her voice barely audible over the roar of the waves. The water around the battleships churned and writhed as if stirred by an unseen force. The surface of the water grew rough and choppy, tossing the battleships around once again.
The marines on the warships struggled to maintain control as they were rocked by the turbulent waves. The sails whipped and thrashed in the wind, and the vessels lurched and rolled violently in the chaos.
Kado's voice yelled out, "What the hell is going on?!" as he tried to maintain his balance on his own ship.
The Straw Hats, meanwhile, were watching the scene unfold before them. They were amazed at the power of Aria's whisperings, and the chaos it was causing on the marines' side.
"Damn, she's doing it!" Zoro yelled, a slight hint of admiration in his voice.
Luffy chuckled, his eyes fixed on the struggling warships. "Looks like we might have a chance to escape!"
The rest of the crew nodded in agreement. With the battleships caught in the chaos, the Straw Hats saw their chance to escape. The damaged ship was in bad shape after the previous onslaught of cannonballs from the marines. The crew knew they needed to find refuge quickly so Franky could make the necessary repairs to the Sunny.
"All hands on deck!" Luffy called out, his voice ringing out over the storm. "We gotta get out of here before they regain control of their boats!"
"Aye, aye, captain!" The crew shouted as they jumped into action, quickly taking over their stations and preparing to set sail.
Jinbe manned the helm of the ship, his strong arms holding onto the wheel with a firm grip as he steered the Sunny through the choppy waters. The Sunny creaked and groaned, the damage it had sustained earlier making itself known as the ship was tossed about by the violent waves. But despite its weakened state, the Sunny continued to glide through the storm, its sturdy frame holding up against the tumultuous waters.
The rest of the crew clutched onto anything they could find for support, their eyes fixed on the stormy sea ahead.
The Straw Hat crew continued to navigate through the treacherous waters as the storm picked up once again. Jinbe was doing his best to steer the Sunny through the chaos, while the rest of the crew clung to the sides of the ship, hoping to stay steady.
Zoro, bracing himself against the railing, looked around the churning ocean. "At this rate we're gonna get spotted if we go to the first island we see," he called out over the howling wind. "We need to find somewhere hidden, a place where we can fix the ship without being seen."
The rest of the crew nodded in agreement, realizing that they needed to find a secluded spot where they could make repairs to their damaged Sunny without the risk of being discovered by the marines or any other potential threats.
"But where?" Nami asked, her eyes scanning the tumultuous sea.
"We're still pretty far from any nearby towns," Usopp commented, his brow furrowing as he studied the map. "The nearest one is hours away."
"We can't keep sailing in the storm. The damage to the ship could get worse and we risk the possibility of it taking on water. We need to find somewhere safe to dock as soon as possible," Robin said.
Luffy stepped up and looked out at the turbulent sea, his expression serious as he thought through their options. "We need to find a hidden cove, a place that's sheltered from the storm and out of sight. We can't risk being seen by any marines or other pirates."
Sanji, who had been quiet so far, spoke up, "I think I know a place that fits the description."
"Where?" asked Nami, turning to Sanji with a hopeful expression.
"It's a deserted island we passed by recently. It's hidden beneath a large overhanging cliff surrounded by rocks. It's a bit of a detour, but it's the perfect place to lie low and fix the ship without being spotted."
Luffy's eyes lit up, a determined look on his face. "Then that's where we need to go."
The crew was in agreement - they had to make it to the deserted island that Sanji spoke of, and fast. With Jinbe skillfully maneuvering the ship through the storm, they set course for the hidden cove, keeping a sharp eye out for any potential dangers along the way.
After a short while, the storm seemed to be slowly subsiding, the harsh winds dying down and the seas becoming calmer. The crew breathed a collective sigh of relief as they continued on their course, the looming shadow of the cliff and the hidden cove growing closer and closer.
As the Sunny approached the cove, they were pleased to see that Sanji's description had been accurate. The cove was completely secluded, tucked away beneath a massive overhanging cliff that provided shelter from the storm and prying eyes.
"This is it," Sanji said, a satisfied smile on his face. "We should be safe to fix the ship here without being spotted."
The rest of the crew nodded in agreement, grateful to have finally found a safe place to dock. They slowly navigated the Sunny towards the rocky shoreline of the cove, the sound of the ship's hull scraping against the rocks echoing through the small area.
Once the ship was secured safely, the crew gathered on the deck. A warm glow crept through the clouds as the afternoon turned into evening. The storm had passed, leaving behind a peaceful silence that hung in the air.
Franky, their resident shipwright, was already examining the damage to the Sunny. His eyes scanned the exterior of the ship, taking in the full extent of the damage inflicted by the cannon balls and storm. "Looks like we got hit pretty good this time," he muttered to himself, running his hand over the splintered wood.
Nami approached Franky, her expression grim. "Is the damage fixable?"
Franky scratched his chin as he continued to examine the ship. "Yeah, most of it should be fixable. It's not catastrophic, but it'll take a couple of days to get the Sunny back to fighting form."
The rest of the crew let out a collective sigh of relief. It was a good thing that the damage wasn't severe and that Franky was skilled enough to repair the ship.
"Damn," Luffy muttered, running a hand through his hair. "Two days is a long time. We need to get moving as soon as possible."
Franky shook his head. "I understand the sense of urgency, captain, but there's no way we can get moving without fixing up the ship first. We're stuck here until we make the repairs."
Nami chimed in, her arms crossed. "Franky's right, Luffy. We can't risk sailing with the ship in this condition. It's too risky."
Luffy grumbled, knowing that his crewmates were right. It was frustrating to be stuck on an island, but the safety of the ship and the crew was paramount.
"Fine, fine," he muttered, scratching the back of his head. "You win. We'll take the time to fix the ship first. But we're not hanging around here any longer than we have to."
The rest of the crew nodded in agreement. They all knew that Luffy was antsy to get moving, but they also knew that they had to prioritize the safety of the ship and each other. For now, getting the ship repaired was their top priority.
