Biting into a fruit, Toxtricity walked towards the dark alleys of Water-7. True, he had refused Sanji's proposal. Nevertheless, the cook had provided him with some provisions, so that the pokemon could feed itself.
The pokemon didn't understand why the blond had done this for him. And even though he was angry about the loss of his hand, Toxtricity had finally understood that it was the only way Chopper had to save his life. If his hand hadn't been amputated, the pokemon would have died.
Continuing to move away from the inn where the pirates were staying, the pokemon just wanted to find a quiet place, where he could rest. And when he has nothing left to eat, he will start flying again.
"Aren't you tired of this vagabond life?"
Stopping, the pokemon couldn't help but think back to Sanji's words.
"Instead of living like an outcast... why don't you come with us? Become my partner."
Growling, Toxtricity wanted to erase those stupid memories from his mind. To him, Sanji was a human like any other. He refused to trust him. Yet, he couldn't help but hesitate.
Instead of living like a thief in this city where many people wanted to hunt him down. Why wouldn't he try his luck, by leaving this place and accompanying the pirates?
Suddenly, explosions were heard.
" Toxtri ? "
Also hearing explosions in the city, Usopp couldn't hide his surprise.
"What's going on? Why do scary things always happen in this town?"
At that moment, a man came running and started shouting.
"It's the Franky Family! They're running around town throwing a pair of swim briefs."
" swim briefs ? "
"Yes! And Franky chases them, pulverizing everything in his path."
As surprised as the townspeople, Usopp heard new explosions, which seemed to be coming closer to one of the island's landfills.
"This place... is where the carpenters are building the new ship for Luffy."
Standing behind Usopp, Heracross seemed somewhat surprised by the explosions. However, he saw Usopp lower his gaze, before walking in the opposite direction.
"I wasn't going."
" Hera ? "
"What happens there does not concern us."
Yet, having a hard time hiding the sadness and hesitation in his gaze, the young man seemed about to run towards where his old friends' new boat was.
Yes, he wanted to join them. He wanted to continue his adventure with them. But... he also didn't forget his fight against Luffy.
"I fought my former captain! I refused to obey him! Why would he accept someone like me back! There's no point in even going there."
Suddenly he felt a huge horn hit him.
"OUCH!" Usopp complained, falling to the ground.
"HERA!" Said his pokemon, who had just hit him.
"Hey! Why did you do that?" Usopp asked. "IT HURTS!"
"HERA!" His pokemon said simply, stretching his arm towards the direction where the boat was.
"What? You want me to go join Luffy?"
"Hera!" His pokemon agreed.
"No way." Usopp retorted, standing up. "I don't plan on joining their crew again! Besides, if you want to go, you can go with them."
Digging into his pockets, Usopp pulled out Heracross's pokeball, before throwing it towards the pokemon.
"You just have to give it to Luffy."
In response, Heracross struck the object with his horn. Like a baseball, the projectile was thrown at full speed before hitting Usopp's face.
" OUCH ! ASSHOLE ! "
"HERA! HERA!" His pokemon roared, pointing again to where the new ship was.
"I told you I wasn't going." Usopp retorted, standing up. "Why should I go back with them? I hate danger..."
Immediately, Usopp thought back to his meeting with Luffy and the others. And he clenched his fists.
"I hate adventures."
He thought back to the many islands he had visited with his companions. And he gritted his teeth.
"I...I would never be able to become a warrior."
He remembered each of his fights. And he began to cry.
"It's... It's..."
Finally, starting to cry, he raised his face to Heracross, before confessing.
"I'm afraid Luffy won't let me join his crew again."
Seeing him do it, his pokemon seemed surprised and honestly didn't know what to answer. Still undecided, Usopp only wiped his eyes, when he froze. At the level of his neck, he felt some vibrations. Then pulling on the collar of his t-shirt, the sniper grabbed his necklace, containing the only piece of Merry he had with him.
Widening his eyes, Usopp saw him vibrate, like when he was at Enies Lobby.
" Merry ? "
Then, he thought he was hallucinating, hearing a noise coming from behind him. Having heard a similar noise, at Enies Lobby, Ussop couldn't believe what he was hearing. However, eventually turning around, he then remained motionless, while he looked at the specter that was behind him.
A ghost wearing a raincoat and holding a mallet in his hand was waving his arm at him, smiling broadly.
" Me ... Merry ? "
"I want to keep traveling," said the ghost. "I want to travel with you and with the others! I want to go to the ends of the earth with you."
And before Usopp could answer, the ghost transformed into a glowing sphere. Then heading towards Usopp, the glowing sphere hit Usopp's collar and disappeared inside the piece of wood.
Normally, the piece of wood was completely rotten and Usopp could have easily broken it by squeezing it between his fingers. However, in an instant, the last piece of Merry began to glow, before transforming. As if all the power of the ghost was inside, the piece of wood became solid and golden.
Not knowing what to think about what he had just seen, Usopp stood there for a few moments. Then, he muttered.
"Merry...you want to travel with Luffy and the others too, don't you?"
Finally, stopping crying, Usopp grabbed his pokeball, before directing it towards Heracross. Knowing what he intended to do, his pokemon let itself disappear inside the object. Once that was done, Usopp started running at full speed.
"Merry... if it's your last wish... know that I will take you to the end of the world! You will be by our side, when we find Raftel! I promise you."
Coming back on board his ship, Luffy held a pair of swim briefs in his hand.
"Look what I brought back."
"Luffy...don't ever come near me again." Raynare ordered him.
"What are you doing with this swim briefs?" Gin wanted to know.
In answer to his question, a cry was heard.
" MUGIWARA ! "
Standing in front of the boat he had built, Franky had his arms crossed as he stared at the pirates. And, not seeming to have the slightest embarrassment, he allowed them all to see that he was only wearing his Hawaiian shirt, while Luffy had his swim briefs.
Immediately, Lucy and Vivi started screaming before covering their eyes.
"An elephant…" Menma affirmed.
"A hairy elephant." Shun-Day added.
"DON'T LOOK!" Nami ordered, covering their eyes.
Seeming to examine Franky, Bruno affirmed.
"He's really well equipped! I'm almost jealous."
"I have to admit that his Franky Jr. is in the top 5 of all the ones I've seen." Raynare admitted. "'I think it's third."
"Hard to believe his swim briefs could hide that." Zoro said.
"STOP TALKING ABOUT THAT!" Nami roared.
Seeming to ignore her, Luffy rears.
"Franky...thanks for the ship! I couldn't have asked for a better one."
"Really? In that case, I wish you a safe journey! And you better take care of this boat! It's my finest creation."
"Don't worry! Besides, I think a great carpenter is coming with us."
Extending his smile, Luffy pointed to the swim briefs he had in his hand.
"If you want your underwear back, you have to come with us."
Franky remained motionless at first, then began to chuckle.
"BAKA! Do you really think I'll accept this? All I have to do is find another pair of swim briefs! Why should I agree to become your carpenter? I have no interest in the pirate life."
Then he turned around before leaving.
"I say goodbye to you."
" Hey, don't go. " Shouted Luffy.
Wanting to pretend to ignore him, Franky continued to walk away, until he felt his feet leave the ground.
"Huh?" he wondered, realizing that he was floating.
"Hatte!" Said the pokemon, who had just appeared next to him.
" AHHHHHHHHH ! " Franky cried. "Ghost?"
"Hey, Hatterene." Luffy shouted. "Can you persuade Franky to join us?"
"Hatte !" Assura his Pokemon.
Hatterene use PHYCHIC.
Immediately, Franky's body began to spin like a top.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Franky shouted, feeling himself spinning at full speed.
Finally stopping her attack, Hatterene put him back on the ground. Taking clumsy steps, Franky's face was green, while his cheeks were swollen.
"I'm going to throw up."
"Have you changed your mind?" Luffy asked.
" NO ! "
"I don't think this is the right method, Luffy." Robin stated.
"Huh... Ice-ossan told me that we should force Franky to join us, but I don't really want to fight him to force him."
Starting to smile, Robin crossed her arms.
"I think I have the solution! DOS FLOR! CRAB !"
Standing still, Luffy and the others saw two arms appear at Franky's crotch. Then, two seconds later, most of the men positioned their hands at their own crotch, while Franky began to scream.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
" ROBIN ! " Shouted Vivi. " Are you not ashamed?"
"DAMN IT! I feel like I can feel his pain." Gin asserted.
"Even I wouldn't have dared." Velvet admitted.
"You're going to tear them off." Chopper said in fear.
"In our eyes, Franky's abilities are like a treasure." Robin said. "We are pirates who want this treasure! If he doesn't want to come with us, he must give us a valid reason."
Finally, feeling the pressure disappear, Franky stopped screaming. Taking a few seconds to catch his breath, the man fell to his knees, muttering all the while.
"I... I want to stay here! And even if the idea of accompanying you doesn't displease me! I forbid myself to leave this place! This island... it's thanks to Tom that it's still here! As an apprentice, I have to protect what he considered his treasure."
Forcing himself to stand up, Franky stated.
"It's my fault that Tom is dead! So, until the day I die, I refuse to leave this island! I will attack any pirates who want to plunder it! I will attack any agents of the world government who come here to try to find more Pluto bluesprints! I will wage war on anyone who harms the people of this island."
"Don't talk nonsense."
Falling silent, Franky heard Iceberg's voice, who approached him.
"Franky... just like me, you know perfectly well that Tom never judged you as responsible for his arrest! Staying here and wasting your talent? I think that's the worst thing he could hope for from you."
"SHUT UP! I didn't ask you for anything! Even though Tom forgave me... even though you asked me... do you think I can forgive myself? Tom gave me a reason to live and I... I thanked him by sending him to the scaffold! If he hadn't met me, he'd still be alive."
"You know you're wrong." Iceberg retorted. "Even if you had never met Tom, the Cipher Pol would have found hundreds of other excuses to capture Tom! They could have even used me to trap him! Besides, I don't think Tom would have been able to laugh so much if he hadn't lived with the child he considered his son."
At that moment, Franky let out a cry of pain and began to sob at the same time.
"AHHHHHHHH! She's going to rip them off."
" ANIKI !"
Suddenly arriving, the Franky Family threw a huge bag towards their leader.
"ANIKI! Here is all you need."
"Aniki! Have a good trip."
"Don't worry about us! We will survive, even after you are gone."
"BAKAYARO!" Franky roared. "I didn't ask you for anything! And besides, you know perfectly well that you're just a bunch of idiots who can't survive without me."
"Whatever." Zambe retorted. "Aniki... it's been years since you saved us! Today, it's time for us to repay the debt we owe you! We want you to be happy."
Starting to cry, the entire Franky Family screamed.
"FRANKY... WHATEVER HAPPENS, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE OUR ANIKI! THANK YOU!"
Standing still, Franky let out another cry of pain, before collapsing to the ground, sobbing.
" IT HURTS ! "
"Hey, Robin! STOP!" Luffy ordered, turning to her.
However, he was surprised to see that Robin no longer had her arms crossed.
"He's a smart person! He's using me so he can cry with sadness."
" Quoi ? "
Finally, stopping screaming, Franky sat up while covering his eyes with one of his hands.
"Guys... I'm embarrassing you, aren't I? My behavior... it's like I don't trust you..."
Finally, wiping his eyes, the cyborg stood up again, before staring at the Franky Familly.
"Guys... can I ask you to protect this city, while I'm gone?"
"AYE, ANIKI!" His men assured him.
Finally, starting to smile again, Luffy threw the briefs towards its owner.
" Great ! Franky, hurry up and join us."
Simply raising his arm, to grab his briefs, Franky turned his back on the pirates.
"Don't take your dreams for reality! If I decide to accompany you, it's not because I like you! It's only because I refuse to entrust you with a boat as beautiful as this one! There's only a carpenter like me who can take care of it."
Then, grabbing his bag, he walked towards the boat.
"There is no other choice! I will become your crew's shipwright."
"GREAT!" Luffy rejoiced.
"Honestly, I thought convincing him would have been harder." Sanji admitted.
"Pinching him wasn't really necessary," Robin remarked, chuckling.
"Please remind me to never get mad at you." Gin implored.
But as Franky climbed onto the boat, Phanteon seemed disinterested and was taking a nap near the mast. However, pricking up one of her ears, the pokemon suddenly stood up before looking at the horizon and starting to growl.
Turning to her, Wiper stated.
"Hey, Raynare! There's your fox who seems to have seen something."
" Huh ? "
At that moment, a cannon shot was heard. Then, a cannonball crashed against the surface of the ocean, not far from the pirates' ship.
" What ? "
"What was that?"
As surprised as his companions, Luffy looked towards the horizon and saw a Navy ship, with a bow shaped like a dog's head. Recognizing this ship, he declared.
" It's Grandpa. "
"What?" Velvet wondered. "Why is your grandfather here?"
On Garp's Ship
Swallowing, several soldiers seemed to feel great fear. On the contrary, Garp was laughing.
"HAHAHAHAHA! I must admit that I didn't think I'd run into you here, Edmond! You should have told me that you were traveling in the area."
"HAHAHAHA! Sorry! I didn't think I'd be staying long! But if you're interested, I have a pack of cookies that were made in the New World! They're pure delight."
"Really? Wait a moment, I'll bring some tea."
Not knowing what to think, Coby and his friends saw Garp and Edmond laughing, while eating snacks. The two of them seemed to be great friends.
"By the way, I'm sorry for assaulting your grandson." Edmond said. "Nevertheless, I wanted to know if he was as powerful as you."
"HAHAHAHA! Don't worry about it! I know Luffy! You better worry about yourself! When he's at his best, know that he'll find you and kick your ass."
"HAHAHAHA! Really? He is worthy of being your grandson."
Arriving at that moment, Emma was carrying a tray with a few cups of tea.
"Grandpa! Edmond-san! Here's for you."
"Thanks, my children." Garp said, grabbing his cup. "You're the only one I've ever raised well! The complete opposite of your stupid brothers! Luffy didn't even hug me at Watre-7."
"Children are often ungrateful," Edmond said. "I know something about that."
"Oh? What about your adopted daughter? Isn't she with you?"
"Fosha? She had to leave urgently! Apparently the rest of her team is in trouble with the World Government! She left to find CP9."
"To tell you the truth, I never liked this organization," Garp said, eating a cookie. "Justice that gives itself the right to kill? That sounds like a bad joke."
"Unfortunately, it's not like our justice system is infallible." Edmond retorted, sipping his tea. "I've never liked the people who rule us."
Stopping laughing, Garp now looked thoughtful.
"I know you fought my grandson and defeated him! In that case, why didn't you capture Nico Robin? That could have taken away some of the humiliation the Cipher Pol suffered during the Enies Lobby invasion."
"You know exactly why I did that." Edmond retorted.
Seeming equally thoughtful, Edmond declared.
"Garp... during your first mission as a Navy soldier...you almost died, didn't you?"
"Yeah!" The man agreed. "It was just before my son was born! I was a soldier on one of the ships that made up a Buster Call! For a first mission, I must admit that there was reason to panic! However, our mission had to be a success! We had ten ships commanded by five vice-admirals and our target was a single man."
Taking a sip, Garp remembered the silhouette of a blond man.
"Zarax... in half an hour, he had pulverized the ten ships and killed all the vice-admirals! Among the soldiers, very few were able to survive this catastrophe! I myself was the only survivor of my ship! And yet, you know what the funniest thing is."
Remembering a conversation he had with Zarax, Garp affirmed.
"This man... I find no reason to hate him, despite the fact that he has become one of humanity's worst enemies! No one knows what he is thinking! Even I am certain that he could kill every single person on this planet, without approving any guilt! He is a true demon! And yet..."
"We feel like we can trust this demon a lot more than we can those who run the world government." Edmond said.
"Hey, old men."
Jumping in fear, the soldiers saw a man turn his face towards the duo. lying on a long chair, Aokiji stated.
"You know I should arrest you because of your words? Criticizing the world government can be considered a serious offense."
"Hey, brat! Who do you think you are, talking to me like that?" Edmond asked.
"Young people really don't know how to respect their elders anymore," Garp said. "I was already capturing pirates before you could walk! You're not the one who's going to give us orders."
At that moment, a soldier arrived.
"Garp-san...we have located Monkey D. Luffy's crew! They are on a ship and are about to leave."
"So he's already healed from his injuries." Edmond understood. "Pretty impressive! I know plenty of people who would have died or stopped being pirates to avoid meeting me again."
"Luffy will never do that." Garp retorted. "When he was a kid, I did everything I could to get him to join the Navy! And I was the one who gave up."
Finally, standing up, Garp affirmed.
"I think it's time I went and corrected this rascal."
