Adrien blew on his cold hands, then hoisted his gym bag back onto his shoulder. It was now getting dark and chilly out after fencing, and Adrien loved stopping in Marinette's family coffee shop, and seeing Marinette.
The bell over the door sang happily, and Adrien caught sight of Marinette "dancing" with her broom.
"So," he asked, after a minute of watching her, "Has your broom swept you off your feet yet?" Marinette spun around and dropped her broom with a clatter. "Adrien!" Marinette gasped. "No, the broom hasn't, but maybe someone handsome will some day!" she laughed, nudging him.
"All the fall flavors came into today. What would you like to try? A croissant? A muffin?" "How about both, and a pretty girl to share it with," Adrien answered. Marinette blushed pink. "Stop."
Adrien blushed too, jamming his hands in his pocket. It was well known he was sweet on Marinette. "I'll have your coffee ready faster then you can say meow," Marinette grinned at him over her shoulder.
"Meow." Marinette burst into giggles as she slid his cup over. "Who are you, Cat Noir? And what have you done to my Adrien?" "Gave him a black mask and a bell, and a very puny sense of humor."
Marinette stared hard at him, and Adrien begin to feel his palms prickle with sweat. "Sometimes I wonder if your Cat Noir." Adrien beckoned her to lean closer. "Wouldn't you like to know," he whispered. "And maybe your Ladybug. Your always doing kind things just like she is."
"I like they like each other, like, like-like," Marinette mused. Adrien nearly spat out his coffee. "How do you figure?" "Well, their always denying they like each other, but then their always flirting, so who knows?"
"I would want Ladybug to be you, if I had to guess," Adrien scratched the back of his neck. "Wow," Marinette breathed.
"Wow, listen to us gossip," Marinette squeaked. "Now, tell me about your fencing…."
The two friends chatted on, just like partners and friends, just like Ladybug and Cat Noir.
