Kisame got up much earlier than he usually did. He had to revise on all of the papers about his brand new partner, Itachi Uchiha. He hadn't had a partner in a long time, although the dark haired man he was to be paired with seemed to be very similar to himself. In his file it said that he had killed his entire family. Kisame had also killed all of the people close to him at one time. There was just a thrill to it that he couldn't explain. Itachi would get it. Finally someone would get it.
He finished packing up all of his things that he needed to take to the hideout with him and walked into the bathroom. He picked up his toothbrush and stared into the dirty bathroom mirror. This was the last time he would ever stare into his reflection in this exact mirror. He was never coming back. This new job was forever. He put some toothpaste onto the toothbrush and began brushing his sharp teeth. He kept staring into the mirror.
Maybe this was why Kisame's peers had never been very close with him. His blue skin and shark-like features were definitely off-putting. How often was it that you saw a huge man with such piercing eyes and teeth that could rip an arm off in just one swift movement. He picked up his comb and combed through his hair and styling it. He tried to make himself look as presentable as possible, he needed this partnership to work for once. After all, working on your own gets lonely sometimes.
He walked to the kitchen and opened his fridge. It only had enough for this final meal at his own house. He cooked up a big breakfast for himself, he had to finish everything left in the cupboards and fridge before he left. He also needed to be full for this long journey to the meeting spot. When he was done eating he made himself coffee. He always just filled his mug with plain black coffee, sweets weren't really his favorite.
The apartment had felt empty before, having just him living alone. Now that all of his things were packed away into one little bag, it felt even emptier. He hoped that the Akatsuki would be able to fill that emptiness. The organization surely had meals together and hung out sometimes right? They all lived together so it couldn't be as quiet as living alone, right? Kisame wanted to know it all before he got to meet his brand new partner. He read Itachi Uchiha's file multiple times the night before, hoping it would help him understand the man better. From the photos he had gotten from Zetsu, the man(?) that recruited him, Itachi appeared to be a man in his early 20's with just past waist-length hair that he always had pulled back into a neat ponytail.
Itachi Uchiha appeared to be a clean perfectionist from the outside, a man who had killed his entire clan and left the life he knew behind at only 13. It was ironic that this extremely clean man had very dirty hands. Kisame could tell, although it wasn't physically there, Itachi's hands were stained with the blood of everyone close to him. There was most likely other blood on Itachi's hands, considering Itachi had been a part of the Hidden Leaf's Anbu Black Ops. There was no fooling Kisame with that quiet and calm look. This Itachi Uchiha must know and understand the thrill that came with doing what is needed to be done, no matter the cost.
Kisame pulled on his cloak and wrapped up his shark skin blade before exiting his dreary apartment room and bidding farewell to this life of working and living alone. He surely wouldn't miss it. He would never miss the looks he got from his neighbors or the whispering from the children who lived in the same complex as him. Kisame walked past a few people but when he offered them smiles, they just sped up their pace to get away from him quicker. He sighed and kept walking but kept his pace steady, he had already left his house much later than planned. He had just gotten carried away with getting ready and Samehada really did not want to be wrapped up for the entire journey.
Kisame checked his watch, feeling guilty that Itachi would be kept waiting for so long. If Samehada hadn't struggled so much against him he might've been on time. He should've woken up earlier and planned that that would happen ahead of time, instead of just assuming an extra two hours to get ready would be enough. He couldn't even run to get there faster, there was too much risk in drawing attention to himself or worse, tripping and ruining his brand new cloak. If his cloak was ruined, the perfectionist of a partner he was to meet would give him the same look that the ladies in his apartment complex and grocery stores gave him.
Hopefully the man wasn't TOO much of a perfectionist though, Kisame was by no means perfect.
Actually, why did Kisame care about what Itachi Uchiha thought of him? This was just a work partnership, Itachi's judgement wasn't going to take the job away from him. He really did want a good companion for once though. when he walked up to the meeting place, he watched the thin man sit down and look at the sky. Kisame stood there watching for much longer than he intended, rethinking how he was going to introduce himself. It occurred to him that he had no idea what he wanted to say to this man. This man who was going to be his partner until one of the two died.
He watched as Itachi's hair was startled by the wind and as Itachi fixed it. A definite perfectionist. Kisame finally decided on what to say and he walked up to Itachi, being slow as to not disturb the man.
"I'll be teaming up with you starting today."
