[START GAME]

"What the hell is this, Sasuke?" Naruto squinted at the glowing blue script hovering in the air, his voice tinged with both confusion and residual exhaustion.

Sasuke, equally perplexed, turned his gaze from the ethereal text back to Naruto. "I have no idea, Naruto. Considering we just got demolished by Isshiki, I'm just surprised we're even here to see this." he said dryly.

Naruto scratched his head, then reached out a tentative finger towards the floating words. "Let's see what happens if I touch it."

The moment his fingertip made contact, the message changed

[Congratulations! You both have been granted the Gamer Power!! Press continue to proceed.]

Naruto's face lit up with a mixture of excitement and curiosity. "Looks like one of those new games they've been inventing back in the village." he remarked.

"Guess there's only one way to find out." Sasuke replied, pressing the 'continue' button that now pulsed invitingly in the air.

Immediately, a new set of options appeared

[Choose your race]

The choices listed were

[Otsutsuki] An ancient clan of horned humanoid creatures, celestial beings also described as aliens and revered as gods.

[Uchiha] Known for their Sharingan and natural battle prowess, reputed as the village's strongest clan.

[Senju] Co-founders of the Hidden Leaf Village, celebrated for their formidable strength during the Warring States Period.

[Uzumaki] Renowned for their vibrant red hair, strong life-forces, chakra, and prowess in fūinjutsu.

[Hyuga] Famous for the Byakugan, a kekkei genkai that offers extended fields of vision and the ability to see chakra circulatory systems.

[These are the main clans. If you want something different, say it.]

Sasuke's eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "Pride says Uchiha, but common sense tells me Ōtsutsuki," he mused aloud.

Naruto chuckled, nodding in agreement. "We're not going down that easily again. Let's go big—Ōtsutsuki it is." He selected the option with a decisive tap.

The next prompt asked

[What village would you like to reside in?]

"The Hidden Leaf Village, of course, right Sasuke?" Naruto looked over at his friend for confirmation.

Sasuke nodded. "It's where we belong."

A surprising notification popped up next

[The Hidden Leaf Village has the Nine-Tailed Fox, and therefore each half will be split between you. Is this acceptable?] [Yes] or [No]

Naruto blinked, turning to Sasuke with a raised eyebrow. "So this means you'll be a Jinchuriki too, huh?"

Sasuke's expression was unreadable, a mix of intrigue and calculation. "It seems so. This could change a lot for us." Without hesitation, he pressed 'Yes'.

[You both are now Jinchuriki. Naruto will have the Yang half, and Sasuke, the Yin half.]

[Beginning process complete! Are you both ready to begin your journey?] [Yes] or [No]

Naruto clenched his fist, excitement bubbling within him. "No idea what part of time we'll land in, but find me when you can, Sasuke."

Sasuke gave a short nod, his usual stoic expression tinged with a hint of anticipation. "I will. Good luck, Naruto."

They fist-bumped, a gesture filled with years of rivalry and friendship.

"Let's get this show on the road!" Naruto shouted, pressing 'Yes'.

In a flash of white light, they both vanished.

-Cutscene Ends-

Naruto opened his eyes and immediately crinkled his nose at a foul odor. He was in his old, abandoned apartment from his childhood, the familiar surroundings tinged with neglect.

"This must be like the missions back home." Naruto thought aloud, hitting 'Yes' with a determined tap. He knew finding Sasuke wouldn't just fulfill the quest but was crucial given their unfamiliar circumstances. Before stepping out, he rummaged through his old belongings, finding his worn but trusty ninja gear and headband. He donned them with a nostalgic smile, then stepped out into the sunlit streets of Konoha, his heart set on finding his friend.

Meanwhile, Sasuke had reviewed his own capabilities, his interface outlining strengths that seemed amplified beyond his previous limits. The calm of the Uchiha compound around him was a stark contrast to the turmoil in his mind. "Time to see how much the world has changed—or I have." he muttered to himself as he stepped out of his room. The familiar layout of the Uchiha district was both comforting and haunting.

As Naruto navigated the familiar pathways of Konoha, the vibrancy of the village struck him. The streets were bustling with villagers and ninjas alike, all unaware of the strange new reality he and Sasuke were now part of. Kids ran past him, their laughter echoing off the walls, reminding him of his own lonely childhood—something he vowed to change for every young ninja under his future watch.

His journey was interrupted by a sudden surge in his senses, a perk of his new Ōtsutsuki powers. He stopped, focusing. "Sasuke's close." he whispered, turning down an alley that led towards one of the quieter parts of the village.

Sasuke, feeling a familiar presence, halted. He turned just in time to see Naruto approaching, a grin spreading across the latter's face.

"Sasuke!" Naruto called out, waving. His steps quickened, closing the distance between them.

Sasuke managed a small smile, a rare occurrence for anyone who knew him. "Naruto. Seems like the game isn't wasting any time throwing us into the thick of it."

"Tell me about it." Naruto laughed, clapping Sasuke on the shoulder. "How are you handling the... Jinchuriki thing?"

"It's... different." Sasuke admitted, his hand subconsciously touching the area over his heart where he felt the new, strange surge of chakra. "But manageable. We have bigger things to worry about. Like figuring out the rules of this game and how we get back—or if we even can."

Naruto nodded, his expression turning serious. "Yeah, and I bet this game has more in store for us than just quests and stats. We should plan our next moves carefully."

The game interface suddenly popped up between them

[Quest Complete!]

[100 Ryo, 1,500 EXP, Shuriken Bag obtained!]

Both glanced at the notification and then back at each other, a mutual understanding passing between them. They were in this together, come what may. It was also a good thing both of them received the rewards.

"First things first," Sasuke said. "let's gather information. We need to understand if our presence here affects the timeline or if we're in a separate reality altogether."

"Agreed." Naruto responded. "And I say we start with the Hokage. If anyone knows if something's up, it'd be them."

With a new quest forming in their minds, albeit without the game's prompt, Naruto and Sasuke set off towards the Hokage's office, their steps synchronized, ready to tackle whatever this 'new' world threw at them.

Well that's until they simultaneously heard a chime.

[Your teammate and Sensei are waiting for both of you.]

Naruto and Sasuke exchanged a glance, both curious and slightly apprehensive. The mention of their "teammate and Sensei" tugged at familiar memories, though they both knew their circumstances had shifted dramatically.

"Think it's Kakashi Sensei and Sakura-chan?" Naruto asked, his voice tinged with nostalgia.

Sasuke nodded. "Most likely. We should see what the game wants from us."

They made their way through the bustling streets of Konoha, the familiar sights grounding them amidst the surreal situation. As they approached the training grounds, they noticed something..bizarre. Their 'teammate' and 'Sensei' bodies were transparent.

[Choose your teammate]

[Choose your Sensei]

.

.

"WHA?!" Naruto exclaimed with surprise. Sasuke although much quieter, was surprised himself as well.

"This..changes things." He said in a contemplative voice.

"But who should we-" Naruto started but was interrupted by Sasuke.

"Shino as a teammate and Kakashi as a Sensei. It makes the most sense." He replied.

"Wait why not Sakura-chan?" Naruto questioned. Surprised by the brisk answer by Sasuke.

"Well because Shino-" Sasuke explained why having Shino was a better idea than Sakura. He listed the pros versus the cons of having Sakura as their teammate in this unusual situation.

"Shino's abilities with bugs provide intelligence and tracking capabilities that might be more useful in a game scenario. His skills are underappreciated, but here, they could be the key to advancing."

Naruto scratched his head, still looking puzzled. "But Sakura-chan is strong, too. She's got super strength and medical skills."

Sasuke sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose briefly before responding. "True, but think about the type of challenges we've seen so far. Stealth, gathering information, subtlety—these might be more aligned with Shino's skill set."

Naruto considered this, then nodded slowly. "Okay, I get your point. But what about Kakashi Sensei? Why him specifically?"

"Experience and versatility." Sasuke said promptly. "Kakashi Sensei can handle a wide range of jutsus and situations. Plus, his tactical mind will be invaluable here."

Naruto grinned. "Can't argue with that. He's pulled us through a lot of tight spots before. Alright, let's go with Shino and Kakashi Sensei."

As they made their selections on the translucent screens, the figures of Shino and Kakashi solidified before them.

[You have chosen Shino Aburame!]

[You have chosen Kakashi Hatake!]

"Looks like I'm not the only one running behind today." Kakashi remarked, raising an eyebrow as he eyed the pair. "What's your excuse?"

"We were training together." Sasuke replied, sparing both himself and Naruto from further scrutiny.

"Training, huh? Well, that's convenient because I'm eager to see how much you've improved. Stand next to Mr. Entomophile here." Kakashi instructed, nodding towards Shino.

At Kakashi's nickname for Shino, Naruto couldn't help but chuckle, while Sasuke allowed a small smirk to cross his face. They moved to line up beside Shino, with Naruto offering a cheerful, "Hey, Shino!" and Sasuke acknowledging him with a nod.

Shino adjusted his glasses with a faint nod, acknowledging both Naruto and Sasuke. "Good morning." he responded, his voice calm and collected.

Kakashi clapped his hands together, drawing their attention. "Alright, team, today's training will be a little different. I want to mix things up with a teamwork drill. You'll need to use all your skills—tracking, stealth, and combat. Think of it as a live mission simulation."

Naruto's eyes lit up with excitement. "A mission simulation? That sounds awesome! What's the objective?"

"Your task is to retrieve a scroll hidden deep in the forest." Kakashi explained, his visible eye crinkling into a smile behind his mask. "But it won't be easy. I've set up a few... surprises along the way."

Sasuke's expression hardened with determination. "Surprises? Sounds interesting."

Shino, ever the strategist, chimed in thoughtfully. "Coordination will be crucial. We must utilize each of our unique abilities effectively."

"Exactly." Kakashi nodded. "And remember, it's not just about power or speed. It's about working together and outsmarting the challenges. Be ready to adapt and think on your feet."

Naruto pumped his fist in the air. "Alright! Let's show Kakashi-sensei what we're made of!"

Sasuke gave a brief nod, his focus already shifting towards the task ahead. "Let's get started then." he said, his tone as cool as ever.

With that, the team set off towards the forest, ready to face whatever Kakashi had in store for them.

[Attention! Quest!] (C Rank) The Test

Complete Kakashi's training exercise

[Rewards to be determined.]

As the trio disappeared into the dense foliage, the forest quickly swallowed up any traces of their presence, leaving only the sounds of wildlife in their wake. The early rays of the sun filtered through the canopy, casting dappled shadows on the ground.

Kakashi watched them go, a secretive smile tugging at his lips. He reached into his vest and pulled out a small, compact radio, pressing the transmit button. "Phase one is in motion." he spoke into the device, his voice low.

Back in the forest, Naruto bounded ahead, his energy palpable. "Let's split up! We can cover more ground that way and surprise Kakashi-sensei with our speed!"

Sasuke's eyes narrowed slightly, calculating. "It's not just about speed, Naruto. We need to be strategic. Kakashi's 'surprises' are likely traps or ambushes designed to test our adaptability and teamwork."

Shino nodded in agreement. "Sasuke's right. We should proceed with caution and stay within range to support each other. My insects can scout ahead and provide us with early detection of traps or hidden enemies."

As they advanced, Shino discreetly released a small swarm of bugs from under his coat, sending them skittering into the underbrush. Their subtle movements were almost imperceptible, blending seamlessly with the natural environment.

[Shino Aburame has activated a skill!]

Sasuke took a moment to activate his Sharingan, the crimson swirl of his eyes scanning the surroundings for any disturbances or illusions that might be masked to the normal eye.

Meanwhile, Naruto, ever the impatient one, darted ahead but remained within shouting distance. His hand went to the pouch at his side, fingers brushing over the familiar shapes of kunai and shuriken.

Suddenly, a rustle from the bushes halted their advance. The team froze, eyes darting towards the source of the noise. Out of the foliage, a group of Kakashi's shadow clones emerged, each bearing the same enigmatic smile as their creator.

"Looks like you've found the first surprise." one of the clones quipped, as they spread out, surrounding the team in a semi-circle.

Sasuke stepped forward, Sharingan whirling. "Naruto, Shino, back to back. Let's use controlled formations. Naruto, you draw their attention, Shino can disrupt with his insects, and I'll target their weak points."

Naruto nodded enthusiastically, already drawing a clone's attention with a boisterous taunt. Shino's insects buzzed louder, a warning of the impending attack.

The fight was a blur of motion. Naruto's clones collided with Kakashi's, creating explosions of smoke and debris. Shino's bugs swarmed over a clone, disorienting it and making it vulnerable to Sasuke's precise strikes.

As the last clone dispersed into smoke, the team regrouped, breathing heavily but with triumphant smiles.

[Team Sync LV.1] Improves team's overall stats

"Good work." Sasuke commented, a rare note of approval in his voice. "Let's move on. The scroll is still out there."

With renewed determination, they moved deeper into the forest, ready to face the next challenge Kakashi had prepared. The test was far from over, but the teamwork displayed promised a strong performance.

As they ventured deeper into the forest, the terrain became more treacherous. The lush greenery thickened, reducing visibility and forcing them to slow their pace. Shino paused periodically, sending out new waves of insects to ensure their path remained clear of traps.

Naruto, his enthusiasm barely dimmed, kept a keen eye on the treetops and shadows. "Hey, do you think Kakashi-sensei is watching us right now?" he whispered, a hint of mischief in his voice.

"Undoubtedly." Sasuke replied, his Sharingan scanning for signs of surveillance or further traps. "He's probably assessing our tactics and teamwork. Stay focused."

Suddenly, Shino held up a hand, signaling them to stop. His insects had returned with alarming news. "There's a large clearing ahead, heavily guarded with tripwires and tag mines. It seems too obvious for a simple trap."

"Maybe that's where the scroll is." Naruto suggested, itching to move forward.

"Or it's a diversion." Sasuke countered, thoughtful. "Kakashi-sensei might be leading us there to test our decision-making."

"Let's approach with a strategy." Shino proposed. "I can send in a larger swarm to set off the mines safely from a distance, clearing a path. Meanwhile, Sasuke can use his Sharingan to help us avoid any illusions or genjutsu, and Naruto can be ready to engage any enemies that appear."

The team agreed, and Shino's plan was set into motion. His insects buzzed forward, their tiny bodies triggering the explosives safely. The series of small explosions echoed through the forest, likely alerting Kakashi to their progress.

With the path cleared, they cautiously moved into the clearing. The ground was scorched and littered with remnants of the traps, but there was no sign of the scroll or any enemies.

"It's too quiet." Naruto muttered, looking around warily.

"That's because you haven't reached the real challenge yet." came Kakashi's voice, suddenly close. They spun around to see him standing on the edge of the clearing, his lone eye smiling behind his mask.

"You've done well to make it this far." Kakashi continued, stepping into the clearing. "But the real test begins now. The scroll you need to retrieve is in the cave on the far side of this clearing. However, it's guarded by a puzzle that requires more than just combat skills to solve."

Kakashi's challenge sparked a new fire in the team. "What kind of puzzle?" Sasuke asked, his interest piqued.

"You'll see when you get there. Remember, the key to this task is teamwork. Each of your abilities will be crucial to solving it. Good luck." Kakashi said, and with that, he vanished in a swirl of leaves.

Determined, the team headed towards the cave. As they approached, they noticed symbols etched into the cave walls—each symbol corresponding to different shinobi techniques.

"Looks like we'll need to use specific jutsu in a certain sequence to unlock the cave entrance." Sasuke deduced, examining the symbols.

Naruto pumped his fist. "Alright! Let's figure this out and show Kakashi-sensei that we can do more than just fight!"

Together, they began to work through the puzzle, each member contributing their understanding and abilities, proving that their strengths lay not only in battle but in their ability to unite towards a common goal.

As they studied the symbols on the cave wall, Sasuke, Naruto, and Shino each brought their unique insights into play. Sasuke's analytical mind mapped out potential sequences, while Naruto's creative thinking sparked unusual solutions. Shino, meanwhile, contributed his detailed knowledge of shinobi lore, which helped decode the ancient symbols.

"The first symbol represents fire." Sasuke pointed out, tracing his finger over the etching. "It likely indicates a Fire Release technique."

Naruto nodded enthusiastically. "Got it! Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique coming right up!" He took a deep breath, formed the necessary hand seals, and then expelled a large ball of flame towards a marked area beside the cave entrance. The fire illuminated a part of the wall, revealing a new set of symbols that had been hidden in the shadow.

"Next is wind." Shino observed, pointing to a symbol that resembled swirling gusts. "A Wind Release might activate the next mechanism."

Sasuke stepped forward this time. "I'll handle this one." He executed a precise Wind Release: Great Breakthrough, sending a powerful gust that swept across the cave mouth. A deep rumbling sound followed, and part of the ground shifted, revealing a small recess in the earth.

"It seems each correct technique unveils another part of the puzzle." Shino noted, examining the recess which now contained a stone with water symbols around it.

"That's water, then. My turn again." Naruto said, already forming the seals for Water Release: Wild Water Wave. He directed the jet of water at the stone, washing over it and causing the stone to glow briefly. The glow expanded to a series of stones, creating a path leading into the cave.

"Looks like we're on the right track." Sasuke said, his Sharingan eyes flickering with anticipation as he observed the changes. "The path is clear now. Let's see what's inside."

They proceeded cautiously into the cave, following the glowing stone path that lit their way. Inside, the cave widened into a larger chamber where the scroll they sought was prominently displayed on a pedestal at the far end. However, guarding the pedestal was a final puzzle—a large stone door with three locks, each adorned with different elemental symbols.

"Three elements, three of us." Shino pointed out. "Each lock must be opened simultaneously with a jutsu of the corresponding element."

Naruto grinned. "Perfect! I'll take the earth lock!"

"I'll handle lightning." Sasuke decided, eyeing the corresponding symbol.

"And I will take water." Shino concluded, positioning himself.

On a count of three, they executed their jutsus. Naruto slammed his palm into the ground, sending a surge of earthen power towards his lock. Sasuke released a sharp bolt of lightning from his fingertips, and Shino manipulated the moisture in the air to form a coherent stream of water.

The locks clicked open in unison, and the stone door slowly swung open, revealing the scroll inside.

[Team Sync has leveled up!]

[Naruto Uzumaki has leveled up!]

[Sasuke Uchiha has leveled up!]

[Shino Aburame has leveled up!]

"Teamwork for the win!" Naruto cheered, rushing forward to grab the scroll.

As they exited the cave with their prize, Kakashi reappeared, clapping his hands. "Well done. You've not only demonstrated your individual strengths but more importantly, the power of working together. This exercise was about more than just physical prowess; it was about trust, coordination, and the combined strength of a team."

Sasuke, Naruto, and Shino exchanged proud glances, each feeling a renewed sense of camaraderie. They had faced the challenge head-on and emerged stronger together.

"Let's head back." Kakashi said, leading them out of the forest. "You've earned a good rest—and maybe even a bowl of ramen to celebrate."

Laughing and chatting about the day's adventure, the team followed their sensei, ready for whatever their next mission might bring.

As they made their way back through the forest, the atmosphere among the team was light and jovial, a stark contrast to the tense focus they had maintained during the exercise. Naruto, ever the enthusiast for both challenges and celebrations, led the conversation, excitedly recounting each step of their adventure.

"Did you see the way those locks clicked open all at once? That was so cool!" Naruto exclaimed, his energy seemingly inexhaustible.

Sasuke, usually more reserved, allowed a small smile to play on his lips. "It was a well-designed test. Kakashi knows how to push our limits."

Shino, adjusting his glasses, added, "The integration of puzzle-solving with our shinobi skills provided a comprehensive challenge. It's a reminder that being a ninja isn't just about fighting."

Kakashi listened to their reflections with a quiet sense of pride. "Each mission, each challenge brings new lessons. Today, you've not only leveraged your strengths but also learned the importance of diverse skills and teamwork. These are the experiences that shape you as shinobi."

As they neared the edge of the forest, the village came into view, its familiar structures a welcome sight. The promise of a relaxed evening was on their minds, particularly the prospect of a hearty meal.

"First one to Ichiraku's gets an extra topping on their ramen!" Naruto suddenly declared, breaking into a sprint.

Sasuke and Shino shared a look, an unspoken agreement passing between them before they too picked up their pace, chasing after Naruto with a competitive spark in their eyes.

Kakashi chuckled to himself, shaking his head lightly as he watched his students race each other. He took his time walking back, knowing the importance of these lighter moments amidst the demanding life of a ninja.

At Ichiraku Ramen, the team gathered around their usual spot, bowls steaming in front of them. The owner, Teuchi, laughed as he watched them devour their food with a vigor only young, hungry ninja could muster.

"Looks like the training today was tough." Teuchi commented as he served another round of bowls.

"Yep! But it was awesome! Kakashi-sensei set up a great exercise." Naruto replied, his mouth half full.

Sasuke nodded, a rare gesture of agreement towards Naruto's often boisterous statements. "It tested more than our physical skills. It required sharp thinking and teamwork."

Shino, ever the observer, noted, "Such experiences enhance our capabilities in unexpected ways. It's valuable training."

Kakashi arrived last, taking a seat with a satisfied sigh. "Well, it sounds like the mission was a success in more ways than one. Enjoy your meal, team. You've earned it."

As they ate, the bonds forged and strengthened by the day's challenges were palpable. Each member of the team knew that the lessons learned today would serve them well in the future, reinforcing the foundations of trust and collaboration that were essential for any ninja.

The evening wound down with stories and laughter, a fitting end to a day full of growth and camaraderie. As they left the ramen shop, the stars beginning to twinkle in the night sky, there was a shared sense of anticipation for whatever challenges lay ahead, knowing they could face them together, as a team.
