RWBY: The New Rose Chronicles

Chapter 1: A New Rose Blooms

3 years have past since the attack on Beacon. Remnant has slowly managed to rebuild itself from the chaos caused by the panic of the attack. However, it was made possible not just by the students of Beacon, or the hunters of Remnant, but by the efforts of what have now been regarded as one of the greatest detective huntsmen units ever in Atlesian history.

The intelligence Unit created by Ironwood and commanders Sindel and Litchi became regarded as one of the most efficient and powerful groups of hunters known to Remnant by whittling down the onslaught of Grimm forces running rampant around Remnant. It was all the more impressive by the fact they were still Huntsmen students, but you wouldn't be able to tell by their skill and professionalism that exceeded even the Ace Ops unit.

The people of Remnant wondered if these teenagers had any fear in the slightest considering the demons, such as the colossal Goliath and Sea Fenglongs, they faced and survived without so much as a scratch.

But Ruby stood before said Atlas Intelligence Unit and her commanders sweating nervously, proving such notions false. If she could have felt them, she'd have notice her arms were shaking fiercely and with good reason. This was going to be one of the biggest hurdles of her life, and it terrified her to the core.

"Ruby? You called this meeting to order, is something the matter sweetie?" Sindel asked her detective wearily, noticing the pressure on her.

It made no sense to the commander, having seen Ruby battle Grimm and bandits with her life on the line with calm and professionalism. Something intense must have been troubling her.

"You have no freaking clue Commander." Ruby thought nervously, not daring to utter such a thought. Ruby took in a deep breath at her commander's question, it adding to the immense pressure she was under.

"Ruby." She heard a man whisper.

She instantly turned her attention the right of the room, noticing her lover Seth shaking slightly in his seat, even gripping his kneecaps tight to the point she wondered if he'd crush them into gravel. It was clear to her he was just as nervous, and with good reason which she saw on his face.

A massive shiner courtesy of her cousin Yang, blacker than a Beowulf's skull infected his eye. If she reacted so badly to this news, she could only imagine how badly her unit could take it, especially her bosses. Work romances usually led to complications that troubled everybody.

"You got this." Seth whispered to her, making her breath hitch as saw it on him.

It was that smile, that warm look on his face despite the hardships he was under as well that she couldn't help but admire from her boyfriend.

"Thank you." She mouthed to him before turning her attention to the trial at hand.

After a few moments of gathering her resolve, practicing the breathing she would be doing much later she thought, she smacked her cheeks to give herself strength.

"Everyone!" she announced, the unit standing silent in anticipation at the detective's announcement.

"I have some good and some bad news. The bad news is…" Ruby said calmly before sighing; an assuring nod from Seth being all that kept her going.

"What is it Ruby?" Akali asked her wearily.

"You see, I'll be taking a leave of absence for a while." Ruby announced to her units shock.

"Why!? What's happened!? Are you okay!?" Were the many questions she was blasted with by her teammates.

To them it seemed like the end of days, Ruby was always a bit of a workaholic when it came to being a huntress detective, having lived for the thrill of hunts and putting bad guys away. Taking a vacation was seemingly beyond her. Before they could bombard her with more questions, her superiors silenced them with a wave of their hands and a shout.

"Okay! Let's let Ruby actually finish explaining shall we?" Sindel commanded firmly and the others nodded, going silent as they plastered there butts to their chairs, not daring challenge her order.

Litchi gave her detective a firm nod of approval to continue, making her sigh in relief at the save.

"Thanks…well to answer all your questions, it's medical reasons I have to leave you all." Seth soon got up as she said that, placing an assuring arm around her shoulder making her smile, giving her the strength needed. Then Ruby started rubbing her stomach making everyone's eyes widen in sudden realization.

"For about a year. I'm pregnant everybody." Ruby said softly, her cheeks blushing red as the room erupted into a chorus of cheers.

"Yes! Ruby and I are having a baby!" Seth announced.

Immediately the unit couldn't contain themselves as they blasted out of the seats and encircled the expecting parents, Mira and Shauna squeezing Ruby in a vice-like hug as they squealed in excitement for her.

"OH MY GOD! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE GONNA BE A MOMMY!" Mira screeched with joy, making the expecting mother wince from her throbbing eardrum.

"HOW FAR IN ARE YOU!?" Shauna asked excited.

"W-Well…about 2 w-weeks now." Ruby nervously answered after being released, catching her breath before Akali helped her back up, giving her a less firm but equally loving hug.

"We are so throwing you a shower later girlfriend." Akali said, Mira and Shauna's eyes lightning up like stars at the notion. Nothing thrilled a girl more than a shopping trip.

Meanwhile Seth's guy friends, Jago, Sin, and Bakugo were patting his back, giving congratulations of their own.

"Knew you had it in you bud!" Jago said.

"Yeah, nice little bomb you dropped on our heads today pal." Bakugo said with a massive grin, making Seth shrug his shoulders nervously.

"True, can't tell you how big a load off our chests this is now that we spilled the beans." Seth sighed.

"Speaking of load-" Sin said with a smirk before Seth slugged his ribcage, making him wheeze in retaliation for the crude joke.

"O-Okay! Shutting up now." Sin wheezed.

But while Seth and the others were laughing at his torment, soon the room went deafly silent as they heard a couple of footsteps echo in the room, everyone standing at attention as they saw their commanders walking towards Ruby and Seth with stern looks on their faces. It brought shivers down their spines as they began to fear the worst.

"Detectives Dreyer, Rose." Sindel called out calmly yet firmly making them instantly come forward.

"Y-Yes commander!" They replied attentively, their expressions paling in fright. Her tone wasn't too surprising nonetheless, they had expected a scolding at least for this despite the good news. Work romances weren't professional and usually brought lots of inconveniences, and a pregnancy on top of that was certainly a flag to raise.

"You both know what this means correct?" Litchi asked them, a bit of calm anger in her tone, making everyone gulp.

Ruby was biting her lower lip nervously in anticipation. Were they going to get suspended? fired?! For Ruby there was no greater fear. She loved her job and loved protecting Remnant with her unit, her friends. She'd hate to lose it all even for her unborn child.

As Sindel and Litchi gripped Ruby and Seth's shoulders, shocking them as they locked their eyes upon the two trembling parents to be, both soon their stern expressions melted as tears soon descended from their eyes, fixing them tender smiles.

"You're both going to get a year off; paid." Sindel said warmly.

"As long as you promise to bring the baby by for our kids, they'd love a new playmate." Litchi giggled.

All the unit sighed in relief as they heard that, Ruby and Seth in particular nearly dropping where they stood as their knees began to give out, feeling wobbly and weak like they would melt if not for the support their commanders gave, assuring they were just overwhelmed for a bit from the good news.

"Thanks…Thank you so much for understanding." Ruby cried softly, making her commanders hearts melt.

"I'll admit we'll miss having you here for a while. You always made us proud in the field detectives." Sindel said softly as she wiped a tear from her eye and Litchi nodded.

"Speaking from experience we both know how important kids are though, so never hesitate to let us know if you need advice or days off." Litchi added.

With that, Ruby and Seth sighed as they embraced each other, completely wiped out from the load of pressure leaving their bodies. Their worries were absurd after all, how could they have suspected the worst reaction from their bosses after all the faith that was placed on them? It made them feel like total fools.

As the unit began talking about preparing Baby showers, Mira and Shauna practically gushing over baby pajama's to buy she found on her scroll while Bakugo teased about weddings, Ruby clasped her lovers hands tightly as she looked at him nervously.

"What's wrong? We got through the hard part" Seth tried to assure her, his black eye and gut from when Yang, Qrow, and Tai slugged him over this (not that he could blame them honestly) burning with phantom pain as he said it.

"YOU KNOCKED UP MY LITTLE ROSE!" Both Tai and Qrow had roared at once, each delivering a punch soon after that shattered his aura, and a wall in their house in patch.

Still, that was nothing compared to the calm tranquil anger on Yang's face when she found out, not even saying any words as her hair ignited. Patch got off easy, Beacon's dorm? Not so much as it was reduced to ashes with near apocalyptic fire from her own tantrum, again, not that he could blame her this time.

"Seriously babe. If we lived through your family the hard parts over right?" He said confidently before she fixed him a deadpan stare.

"No honey, the hard parts only just beginning." She countered to his confusion, before she started rubbing her stomach, making his eyes widened.

And 9 months later, his jaw would be hanging open as he soon locked his eyes on his lovers beautiful silver ones, cradling a little bundle with her own tiny pair as well, cooing as she rocked her soothingly. It was honestly difficult to move forward to the bed to greet them, needing a push from WBY and his future in-laws to work up the nerve too.

Ruby fought her exhaustion, and her temptation to keep eyeing her newborn daughter lovingly for even a second, to raise her head and meet her lover's gaze as he walked into the room.

"Hey Seth." She weakly whispered, careful not to wake her baby that just fell asleep.

"H-Hey Ruby." He said nervously as he slowly sat down by her bedside, soon gently stroking his newborns cheeks. "So….is it-" He began to ask before clamming up from anxiety, tears falling down his cheeks as he got overwhelmed and smiled.

"Meet our baby girl honey. Say hello…to Summer Lily Rose." Ruby whispered, feeling a warmth arise in her as she proudly said the name of the woman she admired the most before pecking the forehead of her daughter lovingly, feeling assured that she now had two.
