RWBY: The New Rose Chronicles

Chapter 2: I have FreezerBurns on my Hands

Yang sighed as she laid on her bed quietly in Team RWBY's dorm room, or at least what was remaining of it after her little private "chat" with Ruby and Seth following the announcement of the former's pregnancy.

"I know I'm a hothead, but can anyone blame me? He knocked up my sister, of course I'd go nuts." Yang whispered as she recalled her tantrum and lecture at the couple as her hair ignited back then, setting the room ablaze.

She was deep down happy she was going to be an aunt and hugged them both lovingly despite getting ash on her after, but she still felt they should have waited till they graduated their last year, or hell, even marry despite gagging at the last thought for her cousin.

Yang still couldn't believe it all, despite the stains of ash covering the walls nearby that emitted a near constant smokey stench. It was another reason she was alone tonight as Blake complained her sensitive Faunus nose couldn't handle it till the wallpaper was replaced or painted over, so she was spending the night at Sun's dorm, at least that's what Yang heard was the reason, though she grinned as she could see the Catgirl's ears twitch a moment when she mentioned her boyfriend.

"Guess kitty's really purring over there tonight." Yang chuckled, though her expression soon fell as she thought of that, remembering something dreadful….she was alone.

"Man this sucks." She groaned annoyed.

This is what it felt like for Ruby for months during their first year, a time Yang looked back on with shame. Her friends neglected and abused Ruby, it took tremendous dangers to bring them close again, such as Blake risking her freedom and Yang losing her leg to that bull bastard who tried to cut Ruby.

It really pissed her off to look at the metallic leg she now wore, courtesy of Ironwood and her sister. She wanted nothing more than to have been the one to crush Adam, not her sister who used it saving her and her friends. It honestly annoyed her more somehow than seeing Ruby make out with Seth in the hospital the day after in celebration.

Right. In. Front of her. She thought annoyed, her eyes flickering red for a second.

Worse, right now as she sat bored out of her mind in this room, she remembered she was the only one now single. Blake had Sun, Ruby had Seth and a kid on the way to her mixed feeling, and she felt her stomach churn as the last member of their team, a girl with pure blue eyes and silkily hair as white as snow, came to mind and made her heart beat wildly.

"Why did that dork get to go out with Weissy? It should have been me." She bemoaned her failure out of jealousy and sadness.

Despite playing the role of older sister for so long, Yang knew deep down she had atrocious luck with relationships unlike Ruby. Most boys she dated ended things with her, either due to her realizing they just wanted the goods, they were off-put by her abrasive and wild side that yearned to smash bars or Grimm even off-duty, or the fact she didn't feel a true lure to them beyond the first date many times.

But it was Weiss whom she felt that lure towards. She had discovered this feeling the day Weiss saved Ruby's life from her seizure. Had it not been for the heiress, Yang would never have gotten the chance to reconcile with Ruby. But it was more than just simple gratitude, or that smooth glowing skin she secretly drooled over in her sleep, that attracted her to Weiss.

"She's not just hot, she's passionate and stubborn like me, the way she moves elegantly yet can be nasty and crude one moment makes her so mysterious its alluring, and the way she never got scared around me even when I wanted to slug her for being a prissy bitch." These were Yang's true honest thoughts and feelings about the heiress, not that she had the spine to ever tell her.

Yang chided herself, rage was the only easy expression for her to show, aside from loving family, she truly kicked herself for not having the same passion and bravery for romance. That's why it irked her seeing the giddy smile on Weiss earlier as she spent an hour gushing over herself in the bathroom mirror.

"Weiss! Come on! 3 other girls gotta use this bathroom too you know!" Ruby had shouted earlier.

"Well excuse me fearless leader! But a princess has to look extra beautiful for important events like tonight so that means you'll wait till I'm done."

Ruby glared at the door and drew Crescent Rose annoyed to Blake and Yang's fright as they gulped.

"That loser Neptune just asked you to dinner at local steakhouse he's not worth paying for a new carpet I won't piss on or a new dress I won't cut up if you don't get a move on already!" Ruby hollered as the heiress groaned annoyed and strut out the bathroom rolling her eyes as Ruby passed her for her turn.

Yang fought the urge to smirk and laugh at the heiress back then, because her jaw had dropped as she eyed the glittery blue dress, the thin white stockings that nearly blended into the pale glowing skin of hers, the shiny blush she wore on her cheeks radiating a beauty on her face with that blue eyeliner that made Yang's waist tremble as she struggled to keep it all in.

"Fine, I kept him waiting enough, don't wait on ME then girls." Weiss chirped up as she saw her scroll beep, showing her the time and a reminder before she went out the doors to Yang's relief, mixed with irritation.

She couldn't believe Weiss had actually gussied up over that dork Neptune. For whatever reason the goofball was appealing to her, Yang hated the fact Weiss still willing to chance things with him. She saw the way Neptune looked at girls, how they were just items like how the guys she dated saw her. It was shocking to see Ruby call him out on that and Weiss actually agreeing with her despite the tears in her eyes that night. It baffled her Weiss gave him a chance to appease her despite that when he practically begged her for forgiveness as knelt before her.

"She'll figure it out for herself sooner or later." Blake surmised he had simply found her in a white dress the night of Beacon's dance too alluring to pass up after his last date stomped on his shoes for a crude remark.

Yang was tempted to smack the boy or at least threaten him not to do that to her friend and crush, though a warning glare from Blake and Ruby reminded her of such a folly those feelings were so she backed down.

That's why, when the door slammed open soon, and she saw the Heiress in tears tonight, she instantly regretted not listening to them.

"That huge dolt!" Weiss cried as she slammed the door in anger and sadness.

"What did Ruby do now?" Yang sighed.

"Not THAT Dolt! I *hic* mean Neptune! He…He…" She stuttered heart broken.

"What. Did he, do." Yang slowly asked, her eyes burning red.

"First I…I catch sparing a glance at another girl at the restaurant that he tries to pass off as no big deal "just got lost in thought." Weiss sarcastically said as she quoted with her fingers for emphasis. "But then he tries to schmooze me over with a public dance and kiss me even when I felt awkward and told him I didn't feel comfortable. He just said he paid for a nice dinner out why did I have to be so uptight!? Can you believe that jerk!?"

"Want me to smash his nuts in for that?" Yang asked, her tone not a joking one anyone could tell.

"Tempting, EXTREMELY tempting, but no. Not gonna give him the time of day, or any guy ever again. Why is it every guy wants something out of me like my name or body?" Weiss groaned as she folded her arms disappointed, tears stinging her eyes.

Yang slouched as she heard this somber declaration. Being rich and the heir to an organization certainly seemed stressful and dangerous. As much as Yang knew how it felt to be seen as an object, being seen that way wasn't something she knew about. It hurt her to see Weiss like this and not know how exactly to empathize with her. All Yang could do was the first thing that came to mind whenever she and Ruby were upset, even if it didn't always work.

She rushed up and locked Weiss in a non-suffocating, yet still firm bear hug.

"*Sigh* Yang…thanks but I'm, not in the mood." Weiss said somberly.

"I know, I also know I can't ever understand how stressed you are about things like that. Why don't I help relieve that stress." Yang offered, Weiss blushing as she instantly pushed back at the suggestion.

"WHOA WHOA! I really think that's a little too sudden don't you-"

"WAIT! I-I didn't mean like that. A girls night out on me I meant!" Yang quickly hollered embarrassed, her face flushed as she realized how Weiss misconstrued her wording.

"You did say your done with boys, why not just let me help you forget about that jerk and relax a night?" Yang offered carefully, weary of another blow up.

Weiss pondered those words, her face mellow giving Yang's beating heart no comfort at the mixed signal it was given. She was sweating like crazy right now as fear of rejection tormented the Xiao Long.

"Oh please say yes. And PLEASE don't cry again I can't take that more than a NO." Yang thought as she watched her friend in anticipation.

Weiss's sigh made Yang choke on her breath, nearly going as pale as her.

"I could go without thinking about that jerk, forever, but 1 day with a friend does seem nice. Okay, just not tonight, it still stings."

Weiss's answer nearly burst Yang's heart as she fought not to sigh in relief, simply nodded and giving a softer hug to the Heiress she warmly reciprocated. For whatever embarrassment from earlier or anger she felt towards Neptune and Yang, the latter she trusted at least did want to care for her.

But soon Yang wasn't relaxed anymore. Her first hurdle was leaped, but the next day she found herself before the very same bathroom mirror Weiss gushed over, frantically shoving dresses and shirts in front of it to view herself with.

"M-Maybe a blouse? No way! Too girly even for Weiss and it's a causal night!" Yang roared as she fearfully threw the red and white blouse into the hamper and drew her yellow rock band t-shirt and a black leather vest, her face glaring daggers at herself for the suggestion.

"NO! It's too casual, I have to be serious at least, it's our first Da-" Yang stopped herself as she froze upon realizing what was about to be said.

Here Weiss was hurting and in need of a friend, and now Yang was worried about looks and bodies. She felt no different than Neptune or those boys right now as she slumped her shoulders and looked down shamefully.

"I'm already blowing this aren't I?" she bemoaned

"You're just thinking too much Yang."

The Xiao Long jolted when hearing that, turning around to see Blake leaning on the hinges smirking.

"What do you mean?" Yang asked.

"I was in the exact same boat a month ago, not sure if I should give Sun and me a chance. I was worried he'd get put off by my coolness compared to how dorky he was; but it worked anyway, because we both just gave it a chance." Blake explained trying to urge her friend.

"But what if I blow my chance? Its so soon anyway after what Neptune pulled." Yang whined.

"Don't worry about that, go look outside." Blake laughed.

Yang soon saw why, snorting as she struggled not to bust a gut holding in her laughter as she didn't want to drown out Neptunes pathetic screaming as he flailed about being hung upside down from a flagpole at the main courtyard as Weiss did laugh and point at him, especially as Ruby began beating him with the blunt end of Crescent Rose like a piñata.

"Me and Ruby had a little…"chat" with him about respecting women. Don't worry, I think she's over him now." Blake snickered.

"As funny as that looked, still, what if she doesn't feel happy with me like Sun does to you, or Seth does with Ruby? All I did was plan a day getting manicures and a dinner. I can't even afford a limo like she deserves or expects! What if I mess up this thing and she never likes me like that?!" Yang asked afraid.

"You could do everything right and she still might not feel that way, you can't force it Yang." Blake said sadly, making Yang's face fall as she processed those words.

"But even if she doesn't reciprocate your feelings, at least you'll have the closure of expressing them. It might be awkward for a while, even if she does love you, but you'll feel better eventually. I mean, she did agree to go out with you, there's hope at least."

"*Sigh*, Yeah, Ruby always told me I needed to do that more."

"Well she has better experience then the rest of us. Kid on the way and all." Blake shrugged her shoulders.

"Yeah, still not feeling better about that." Yang groaned.

"Nor is my nose from these ashes. Next time have a temper tantrum outside." Blake joked as she pinched her nose and turn to leave.

"Hey Blake." Yang called out, the Cat Faunus turning around as she gripped the doors handle to meet her friends friendly gaze. "Thanks, I needed that partner."

"Anytime. Now go knock Weiss dead like you did to Seth." Blake chuckled as she left.

Later….

Weiss stood in the courtyard, twiddling her fingers as she waited patiently for Yang. She was dressed much lighter than she did last night, trading in the tight elegant dress for a more soft and casual vest similar to her sisters, accompanied by a top hat to make her less conspicuous. She never liked being hounded by people for being a Schnee, and especially didn't want the boys to look at her like meat tonight after that fiasco with Neptune. She tapped her white glitter covered heels she wore on the ground, squinting her eyes at them to make sure there wasn't blood on them.

"It did feel good getting a kick in on that jerk." She mused herself with a smirk, feeling much more relaxed after Ruby and Yang helped get her revenge.

Still, Weiss blushed as she was surprised, she found herself a bit disappointed in that. She didn't know why but,

"Why didn't Yang go off on a hunt and get me justice?" Weiss thought.

She had to admit, she did always find Yang's fiery passion a bit more exhilarating than annoying. Perhaps its why she agreed to this date.

Her eyes widened at the thought.

"Pff! Come on Weiss! It's not a date, she's just treating us to a girl's night out to relax, like we always did. What's the difference?" Weiss tried to shrug it off. She heard Yang dated boys, even if unsuccessful, no way was she into her that way….

Was she?

The mere thought was cut off as Weiss heard engines rumbling, turning her head to see Yang ride up in her motorcycle Bumblebee, fixing her that same cocky smirk.

"Hope I'm not late, wanted to look good for you Weissy!" Yang said as she turned off the engine.

Weiss didn't know what shocked her more, the thought she had earlier, or the impressive outfit Yang wore. She wore black cargo shorts that showed off her thin yet muscular legs perfectly wrapped around thin black stockings. She also wore a yellow shirt and necklace covered by a black blazer that perfectly complimented her black eyeliner and gold hoop earrings she borrowed from Ruby not even a motorcycle helmet could offset.

"W-Wow. You look perfect Yang." She replied nervously, her face flushed. She barely reacted to the helmet Yang pressed to her chest.

"Well then put this on, I want to go slow, but not that way." Yang teased.

But despite the declaration, Yang actually did go slowly as she felt Weiss wrap her arms around her waist, wanting the warmth around her to last as long as possible.

Weiss felt the same way as she felt more relaxed than that massage pair and foot massage at the spa. Yang had kept her word and treated her well that day. Driving by the sea and fields slowly, letting the wind blow in their faces as they basked in the sunset. It felt romantic and calming.

"And it just gets better and better" Weiss mused to herself as they pulled up to the restaurant Yang reserved. It was a small and simple Vistralian/Vale combo bistro with elegant flowers yet moderate prices with a few classy options beset by a casual atmosphere of common people. It was the perfect place for a casual date.

Soon they parked by the restaurant, Yang saying she wanted outdoor seating by it to make sure even with a chain it wouldn't get stolen.

"Sounds good to me, I don't want to look away from the sunset, it's gorgeous." Weiss said in awe.

Yang frowned a bit at that: "Only its gorgeous?"

"R-Ready then?" Yang nervously asked as she held out her elbow, hopeful to catch that attention.

Weiss smirked, even if a bit flustered at the gesture, and wrapped her own arm around it. "I think I can handle you."

"Hmpff! We'll see." Yang pouted before smirking.

Soon the couple sat down outside, basking in the atmosphere as they ordered their meals and cocktails. Yang went for a light one, along with a Chicken Francese. She was tempted to get the garlic buttered steak and risotto, but didn't want to risk bad breath over heavy foods. She never knew if-

"Her lips look more delicious though." Yang thought absentminded as she locked onto Weiss's light clear blue lipstick as she sipped her sparkling white whine. Gulping as she clenched her knees nervously, hardly containing herself.

Weiss noticed her friend's tenseness and had to speak up.

"Yang? Whats the matter?" Weiss asked her wearily.

Yang was about to open her mouth to joke it off, but the more she looked at her friend and crushes concerned gaze she felt compelled to simply tell the truth.

"Just say it Xiao Long! Tell her you love her. Tell her you think she's the most beautiful gal you ever met! Forget about Neptune hurting her you can't possibly-" As much as Yang thought all that, her heart ached as she trembled, still feeling it was a lie.

"I….I just…*scoff* sorry, its just not easy to say this." Yang bemoaned softly as she rested her arms on the table, ignoring her food. She was losing her appetite from fear and stress, made a lot more intense as Weiss softly touched her knuckles with her soft hand, startling her.

"If something is troubling you I can help Yang, you helped me feel a lot better tonight. We're friends aren't we after all?" Weiss innocently asked, but her words actually made Yang feel worse.

"Yeah…friends. That's just it." Yang whispered.

Weiss she saw looked a bit shocked by her apparent disappointment, wondering if she said something bad. But as she tried to pull her hand off Yang's, the Xiao Long quickly darted her eyes at her and clasped the hand.

"Sorry! It's not a bad thing its just…I think I wanted more and was just scared it wasn't a good time to ask." Yang confessed.

Weiss sat silent in surprise at those words, knowing what they meant, but still needed to know more.

"Is…me and the Neptune thing making you scared? Scared you messed up tonight? Don't be crazy Yang, I never felt better, you did a great thing for me." Weiss urged her.

"That's good to know, but, I'm not sure if I can feel better right now." Yang retorted her face growing redder as she squeezes the hand.

"What you mean? Are you sick or something?" Weiss asked wearily.

"Yeah, lovesick." Yang almost gagged at the cheesy thought. She closed her eyes as she bit her lip, trying to compel herself to say it.

"No, but I think it's a bad time to say…." Yang said awkwardly.

"You can tell me anything Yang, you deserve that for treating me well. This dates been perfect." Weiss assured.

Both girls blushed as she said the word, the D word itself.

With that, Yang felt her heart beating rapidly, she just had to do it. She yanked Weiss hand towards her, startling the heiress as she was pulled across the table a bit, her shock growing as Yang clasped her chin with her free hand and pressed her hot lips to the Schnee's.

Weiss's eyes widened in shock as she did this. Her first instinct was to push away in offense, but she saw Yang's sad eyes. They were filled with tears of sadness, but she felt the joy and love in her as well as their tongues wrapped around each other as she felt weak in the knees, hot breaths invading each other's mouths making them each quiver and sweat. Yang released Weiss as they locked hazy eyes with one another.

"I…I think I love you." Yang confessed softly.

Weiss saw her friend's firm yet sad expression. It was clear she was bleeding her heart out with those honest words. She could feel it, this wasn't like Neptune last night, her feelings were far more sincere.

"You…love me? Really?" Weiss asked, silently chiding herself internally since they had just kissed. It was proof enough right?

She couldn't tell, her mind was almost a fog with all the heat invading her right now from that hot kiss. But Yang's mind was clear enough to acknowledge her.

"Ever since you saved my cousin, helped us fix out mistake and be with her again, I knew. I knew how I felt about you. I was so worried at first about the whole bad date thing last night. Then…I was worried I'd do the same like him. I was worried you'd never feel that way, that you'd see as Nep-" Yang confessed sadly before her mouth was attacked again, the heiress caressing her cheeks as she gave her a chaste yet warm embrace.

"I love you too." Weiss whispered, bring Yang to tears as her eyes widened hearing that.

"Really?"

Weiss nodded. "I always admired your passion, your loyalty, even your temper really. You make me feel secure whenever I am down. I can always count on you when I need you. How could I not?" Weiss asked.

Her response made Yang choke on her breath as she smiled, a wave of relief and joy washing over her at the confirmation.

The two soon sat down, though Yang pushed her chair to be right besides Weiss this time as they once more clasped hands, Weiss putting her head on Yang's shoulder and humming as they did.

"We'll take it slow, maybe not bring this up for a few days so Ruby and Blake don't tease." Weiss suggested.

Yang rolled her eyes. "Yeah, big sis or cousins get the teasing privileges. Besides, your right, there's no need to rush that. Lets just enjoy this moment.

"Good, then quite so we can enjoy the weather." Weiss whispered as they watched the sun go down slowly.

The only thing slower than that was their relationship. Weiss and Yang indeed didn't rush too much, waiting a day or so before Yang giddily announced their relationship to their friends and family. Despite Ruby's crude teasing of the use of their hands for things other than hand holding when she told them, Yang was surprising chaste for a while, Weiss having to practically drag her into bed one night when they were alone after growing frustrated with stagnant.

There were other hurdles to deal with, bigots at school like Cardin Winchester mocking their yuri relationship, the press hounding them when in public on more dates, and worse Weiss's own father threatening to disown her if she didn't break up for a "suitable" heir to another company he arranged for her.

But Yang felt assured in their bond as Weiss willingly fought all of that with her, NO For her. It helped secure their bond not just with each other, but with their teammates, their family who also supported them the whole way. So as Yang and Weiss helped support Ruby on her wedding night as she strut down the isle, they soon clasped hands once more as they locked eyes on each other rather than Ruby and Seth as they exchanged vows.

"Maybe…someday?" Yang whispered, making Weiss blush as she tightened her grip.

"After I catch the bouquet dear. Promise." Weiss whispered back lovingly.

Fin
