Background:

The Lunar Equinox, a popular bar located in the peaceful beachside city of Argus. Run for the past 3 generations by the Arc family, they built it to be a place with a calming ambiance where anyone can unwind with some relaxing music, a polite conversation or two, and a wide selection of drinks to order. As it stands now, the bar is currently run by the wise and experienced Noire Arc who plans to pass it down to his middle child Jaune. Jaune, having been the most enthusiastic about the prospect of running the place, has studied and trained hard to live up to the legacy his family has made over the decades. As it currently stands, he is one of the most popular bartenders working at the establishment. Though he himself doesn't realize that. Nor has he realized that one of his most frequent patrons has the hots for him. A certain businesswoman by the name of Yang Xiao Long

Story:

As another Monday sunset falls upon the city of Argus, Jaune is prepared for a rather slow night. Compared to holidays or weekends, Mondays are especially lacking in high numbers of patronage. But considering the bustling weekend he'd just been through, a slower day was just what the doctor ordered. To his surprise, his first few patrons would include Yang as well as two others he could assume were her co-workers. One a rather tall and quiet man with black hair and magenta eyes. The other, a much shorter girl covered in pink with flaming orange hair and watery aqua eyes.

Yang, seeing her secret crush dressed to impress, cordially greeted her fellow blonde while cracking a pun about alcohol. Jaune, having memorized her preference, started working on a Strawberry Sunrise while asking what her friends wanted. The taller man, first introducing them as her roommate Lie Ren and his girlfriend Nora Valkyrie, then said that he would be the designated driver for the night. As for his girlfriend, she would just take a simple martini. By his word, it doesn't take much for her to get plastered. Nora tries to refute that statement, but a simple glance from her quieter boyfriend makes her quiet down really quickly.

A few drinks in for the ladies and Yang lets go of all of her inhibitions and anxieties to ask Jaune if he's still single. Jaune, not seeing a reason to lie to her, truthfully answers that he is. His answer causes her to cheer with joy since it means she still has an opportunity to get with the guy she's been crushing on for up to half a year by that point. Jaune, having not caught on to her feelings, asks Ren what exactly all the excitement is about. But before he can answer in a subtle way, Nora yells out how Yang's been crushing on him for months. This catches many patrons off guard, but just as suddenly as Nora grabs their attention, they go back to what they were doing before.

Jaune, having never had a girlfriend before, fully admits that he doesn't exactly know what it feels like to be in love. And as part of his job, he's trained himself to not show any favoritism to patrons while on the clock. So he really wouldn't be able to confirm if he feels something for her one way or the other since they've only ever met or talked while he's working. Yang, barely managing to stay awake, takes the leap and asks Jaune on a date before she passes out. Ren, seeing the full load of emotions building in Jaune's mind through his expressions, says that it's probably the best way to solve his conflicted emotions. They spend some time together when he's not working and are thus able to be more freely expressive with each other. And even if it doesn't end with them in a relationship, they can still be close friends.

Jaune, seeing the logic behind Ren's words of wisdom, thanks him for the advice. Though with Nora and Yang both thoroughly out of it, Ren slings Nora over his shoulders and says he'll be back to pay and get Yang when he's put his girlfriend in the car. Jaune starts readying the check while keeping a close eye on Yang to make sure there are no hidden unsavory types in his family's establishment. Trying to get a grasp on how he feels about Yang, he thinks about their many previous conversations and especially of their first meeting.

She'd stumbled into the place looking for something to drink after a long hard day at her office building, so he poured her an orange breeze and talked things out with her. Hearing about her struggles fitting into the workplace, he offered her advice that he'd learned from his father about the world of business. Unbeknownst to him, the simplest advice would be extremely useful to her and a lot of stress would be lifted off her back. From there, she made it a point to visit at least once every week. If nothing else, to talk with him and make puns to make him laugh. Meanwhile from his perspective, she was bar none his most frequent patron and the one he enjoyed chatting with the most. While still not certain if he felt romantic feelings for her, he was definitely sure that she was important to him. But the specifics on how important were eluding him for the time being.

Flashing back to the present as Ren's paying for the drinks, Jaune looks and sees Yang trying to wake herself up and struggling. Wanting to make sure the two were somewhat on the same page about things even if she'd most likely forget by morning, he leaned over the bar and whispered to her: "I'll be off work tomorrow. We can meet at 3 by the main park's fountain if you're interested."
