Chapter 93

[Play Boku no Hero Academia OST U.A. Session]

The next day came, and both Sora and Izuku were already prepared for it. Both boys had woken up early in the morning and made their way downstairs. While Midoriya simply took the elevator, Sora took the stairs, sliding down the rails with his flowmotion and jumping off once he reached the ground floor. As he stuck his landing, the elevator door opened and Izuku stepped out. The two boys looked at one another, and Sora noticed that Midoriya was his usual slightly nervous self. The Keyblade wielder gave him a confident smirk and a thumbs up, which helped remove some of the nervousness from the One For All user.

The pair made their way to the kitchen, where Sora was able to whip up some breakfast for them, while Izuku went over what the pair would need to bring for their first day at Work Study. "Hero Uniforms?" He said.

"Check." Sora showed his suitcase holding his uniform, while putting the finishing touches on the fish he was grilling. "Empty notebook for your Hero ogling?"

"Analyzing." Midoriya corrected him, before pulling out a new notebook. "And check. Gummiphone for your personal messages to your out of school friends?"

"Check." Sora flipped out his Gummiphone before serving his friend and himself some grilled fish, a bowl of rice, and some Miso Soup. "Sorry that the dish isn't super crazy. We can't take too long."

After the two boys ate their food, they went to the restroom to make sure they were clean. After a quick and easy wash, the pair dried off and brushed their teeth and hair. The Keyblade wielder kept his hair as spiky as it usually was, while the One For All user's hair maintained its fluffy mop head look.

The two then put on their school uniforms and made their way out the door. They took a quick but necessary detour to the main office in U.A. and informed Nezu that they would be going to their Work Studies, to which the principal excused them from the school grounds. It was a security measure put in place to ensure the safety of the students. Normally, a teacher would accompany them as protection, but since students going to Work Studies are going to be with Pro Heroes anyway, this was one of those rare times where having a chaperone would be unnecessary.

After the pair left the school, they noticed Mirio Togata was just ahead of them. The Third Year noticed the pair and waited for them to catch up before the trio made their way to Sir Nighteye's Hero Agency together. The U.A. boys were greeted by Centipeder and Bubble Girl, who informed them that Sir needed everyone to his office, in uniform. After a quick change, the Work Study students made their way upstairs and into Sir Nighteye's office.

[Silence]

As the two Sidekicks and three Work Study students stood in attention in front of their leader, Sir pulled out a portfolio and began to explain the assignment to them all. "Today, we will be doing patrols and surveillance." He said before setting the portfolio down. "We'll split up into three teams. I'll be with Bubble Girl, Sora will be with Centipeder, and Mirio, you're with Midoriya."

"Surveillance?" Izuku repeated, wondering who was being watched.

"Nighteye agency is currently working on a secret investigation." Bubble Girl informed him.

[Play Boku no Hero Academia OST Overhaul]

"Shie Hassaikai is a small organized crime syndicate." Sir explained as he showed the group a document that had a picture of a man with a fancy looking plague doctor mask that covered the lower parts of his face. "That's Kai Chisaki. As the young head of the group, he's its second in command. And he's been behaving strangely lately. That plague mask is his trademark."

"Creepy." Sora said what some others were thinking.

"I thought...there wasn't much trouble with organized crime these days, since the police know who they are and monitor their movements." Midoriya took a closer look at the picture.

"It's been that way since the big groups broke up." Bubble Girl stated.

"In spite of that, This Chisaki person is attempting to gather them all together again for reasons unknown." Centipeder informed the two first years. "He was most recently seen making contact with the League of Villains."

Both Sora and Izuku reacted with an uneasy look. "The League of Villains?" Midoriya repeated.

"Unfortunately, we don't have any solid proof linking him to anything criminal yet." Sir told them. "Hassaikai operates in a legal gray area that's close to black, but we can't treat them like Villains." He took the photo back. "Our objective is to tail them, and find out what they're up to. Be careful not to arouse any suspicion."

"Yes, Sir." All five of them said in unison.

Once the teams were ready, they all went off to where they were assigned to patrol and survey. Sir Nighteye and Bubble Girl were going to be patrolling closely around streets that surrounded the main house that the Hassaikai resided in, as well as occasionally monitor who enters and exits the establishment. Lemillion and Deku were assigned to patrol the streets in the surrounding areas just outside of Hassaikai's known territory, as well as be on the lookout for anything suspicious in the areas. And lastly, Centipeder and Light Heart were assigned to patrol the area around a warehouse that was recently the sight of an altercation between what appeared to be two factions of Villains, and they were also assigned to do an investigation of their own, to confirm if the Hassaikai had anything to do with it, or not.

[Silence]

Elsewhere, inside an abandoned building. Tomura and Vanitas had returned to Spinner, Himiko, and Twice, who were tending to Mr. Compress while Giran was on his way with a prosthetic for him, and while Dabi and Kurogiri were both out looking for new recruits. "You really struck a deal with them? After what they pulled on the stage?" Compress said.

"This 'truce' is temporary. Only until our interests stop being aligned." Tomura told them.

"Or until they spill their secrets to me." The Dark Remnant spoke up.

"To you?" Toga repeated. "Not us?"

"Vanitas is the only one that I 'can't control'." Shigaraki said. "The Hassaikai probably already see him as a potential asset, thanks to what he's shown already. They'll want to take him from us."

"Their funeral." Vanitas commented.

[Play Boku no Hero Academia OST Not Even a Man]

"And what about us? We're a part of this too, aren't we?" Twice questioned.

"Not right now, you aren't." Tomura answered. "Until I get called back and get some more info, all of you are benched. Focus on making sure that Compress doesn't get taken from us too."

"While I don't like the idea of just sitting around, you are right about us needing to tend to our wounded." Spinner conceded.

"Can't Vanitas just use his healing magic to help Compress?" Twice asked.

"I told you before, it doesn't work like that." The Dark Remnant spoke up. "I can't regrow limbs with my Cure. I could only seal the wound with my Fire, and remove the pain with the Cure, which is what I did."

"And I am thankful for that act." Compress spoke up. "But you must understand that even with a prosthetic, I will only be half as useful as I was before. I would hate to be replaced by the understudy."

"No one is replacing you, Compress." Shigaraki told him. "Just...next time we're in a situation like that though, I need you to listen to me, instead of rushing in while you're angry."

That made Mr. Compress comply. The reminder that he chose to ignore Tomura's orders and losing his arm because of it was all he needed to hear. It didn't appease Toga though. "But those bastards need to pay for Magne."

"They will, in time." Tomura told her. "Once we know their secrets, what they can do, and how to deal with them, Magne will be avenged, but not a second beforehand, or else we'll lose more, and it'll be for nothing." That got Himiko to calm down.

[Play Boku no Hero Academia OST Something to Protect]

Vanitas then felt a familiar feeling he felt when he was inside the Hassaikai's underground area. That familiar spike in negative emotions, all coming from a singular source. However, this time, it was outside of the Hassaikai's house. He let out an involuntary sigh of slight pleasure that was just barely heard by the others in the room. "What was that about?" Spinner asked.

"Tomura." The Dark Remnant spoke up. "Remember that 'conversation' we had on the way to meeting Chisaki?"

"I remember." Shigaraki answered. "Why?"

"Let's just say that I've got that 'dull' feeling again, and I'd like to figure out what's causing it." Vanitas told him.

"As long as you don't cause any trouble and stay out of sight." Tomura gave him permission to investigate the source of the negativity that the Dark Remnant was feeling. "If it's anything you think is worth sharing with the others, then report what you find."

"I'll be back whenever." Vanitas told them before making a dark corridor behind him and stepping through it.

[Silence]

Meanwhile, over at the warehouse that Sora was assigned to, he and Centipeder were allowed inside by the police that had been stationed to that area. As the pair entered, there were a few things that were very apparent. There was a fight here, and that fight had gotten somewhat messy. "Time to see if those deductive skills you taught me will help out here." The Keyblade user commented.

"This entire warehouse is a crime scene." Centipeder informed the boy. "Leave nothing unchecked."

[Play FF7 Remake OST Noises in The Night]

The two split up and each looked around in the room. One thing that the pair had immediately noticed was the red marks on the floor. Something was very hastily mopped up. The best guess was blood, but even so, it would be hard to figure out who's blood, due to it not only being there for so long, but with it also being tampered with. Either way, a fight had broken out, and blood was spilled.

But then, something caught Sora's eye. "Wait a minute." Sora crouched down and noticed something small on the floor. It was a small piece of fabric, but it was in terrible condition, like it was withered. He poked it with his finger before a piece of it crumbled off and turned to dust. "Either an unlucky coincidence, or the League's Leader was here."

Centipeder meanwhile was on the upper level of the warehouse and was investigating the section that had a chunk of it blown off. He took a close look at the edges of the destruction and knew what the damage was. "Burn marks, and some ash. Someone shot a fireball up here. The Hassaikai doesn't have any members with that ability, but two members of the League of Villains do."

Back with Sora, he looked outside the warehouse and opened up a dumpster that was nearby. There was one problem though. The contents of the dumpster were all ash. Everything was burnt. If there was any concrete evidence in there, it was all burnt black now. "Just ash. Whoever did the coverup was smart enough to be sure most of it was gone."

Back with Centipeder, he investigated the hole in the wall that was clear as day. He checked everything, from each individual brick for any potential blood or clothing on them, to the cracks they left on the ground inside the building. He didn't find anything there, but what he did find was tire marks, and there was something interesting about these tire marks. "Two different sets. And they go in two different directions." The Pro pointed out. "Both parties wanted to leave the area quickly. Probably didn't want to risk staying after the commotion."

Back with Sora, he went back inside the warehouse and decided to look around the area with the mopped up blood once more. There wasn't much else there to see, as aside from some containers on the other side of the warehouse, there was nothing. "Well. It can't hurt to check." The Keyblade wielder said out loud before walking over to the containers and having a look around. To his surprise, he did find something. A pair of white framed sunglasses. A bloody pair of white framed sunglasses. "Hm? Who did these belong to?"

Centipeder then entered the warehouse again and spoke to his partner. "Light Heart, have you found anything?"

"Yeah." Sora replied. "I think I found a few things."

"Tell me your findings. I'll cross them with mine." The Pro Hero instructed.

"Well, first off, there's this." The Keyblade wielder pointed to the bloody sunglasses. "Chances are, they belong to whoever's blood was mostly mopped off the floor."

Centipeder was pleased to see this. "Astute observation. Not only that, but the blood on the glasses would be untainted, so we can get a clear DNA test to see who it belongs to, though I already have suspicions as to who. Anything else worth noting?"

Sora then showed him the withered fabric piece that was on the ground near the center of the warehouse. "This one isn't clear evidence, but if the League was here, then this would be their leader's trademark. Normally there's more than just a small piece, but when I looked for more in the nearby dumpster, it was all burnt ash in there."

"Likely the League cleaning up their mess and destroying the evidence." Centipeder summarized. "The burnt remains in the dumpster line up with the burn marks on the upper balcony."

"Which means someone who could make fire was here." Sora put two and two together. "If I remember correctly, there's two people who can do that in the League. Vanitas..."

"And Dabi." The Pro Hero stated. "The sunglasses that you found also bear a striking resemblance to Kenji Hishiki, also known as Magne, another member of the League."

"So there's plenty of evidence that the League was here." The Keyblade wielder noted. "But we haven't found anything that would pin the Hassaikai to here yet."

"The only thing I found here that was definitive was that there were two different sets of tire marks outside." Centipeder pointed out. "Two parties were involved. One of which is confirmed to be the League."

"I'm guessing that the Hassaikai are pretty good at covering their tracks." Sora commented.

"Unfortunately so." The Pro Hero admitted. "That doesn't mean we shouldn't try though."

"Oh yeah. I know that." Sora assured him. "It's just going to be a bit more challenging than I thought."

[Silence]

Elsewhere, in the outer perimeter of the Hassaikai's territory, a dark corridor had appeared above the corner of a rooftop and out came Vanitas, who closed the corridor and immediately crouched down low, as he was in broad daylight. "Okay. The bundle of negative emotions is coming this way. I'll see who it is once they pass by, then...hold on. Is that...?"

The Dark Remnant looked to the sidewalk and saw a familiar face approaching him. The green haired boy from the camp that he and the league crashed. He also remembered him from Hosu, witnessing him take on the Hero Killer Stain. He also remembered that he almost helped Sora escape from him in Kamino Ward. One of the boys on Shigaraki's kill list, and given how much of an irritant he was, Vanitas could understand why. He was accompanied by another boy in a Hero costume, one that he didn't know. However, the pair were close enough for him to be able to listen in on their conversation. "This is sort of nerve wracking." The green haired boy said.

"What gives? You went out on patrol during your internship, didn't you?" The blonde one wondered. "Though I guess I don't blame you for being shaken after what went down." So the blonde one knows about what happened to the green boy at Hosu.

"Oh no. It's not that." The green one replied. "I just kind of missed out on learning some of the basics so..." That almost felt insulting to the Dark Remnant. A novice who's as green as his costume was the one giving him and his allies trouble?

"Yeah? Huh, that must be strange." The blonde one responded. "Ah, don't you worry. Sir and Bubble are the ones who are actually watching the target today, so I can teach you all about patrol duty. We'll get you up to snuff." The blonde then did some quick movements like he was striking a moving pose. "Just watch and learn, my friend! Hmhmhm!"

That little nugget of information was interesting for the Dark Remnant. 'Sir and Bubble are the ones watching the target.' The group that the green boy is with is keeping watch of people here. Seeing that the house belonging to the Hassaikai wasn't too far from here, it would be a solid argument that Overhaul's branch of Yakuza is the one that they're investigating. "That could be good leverage for getting their trust." He quietly told himself.

"Hey, we forgot something." The blonde boy pointed out. "Our Hero names. We should know each other's, right?" Oh, good. Now Vanitas can attach names to these faces.

"Oh. Yeah, yeah, totally. I'm Deku!" The green boy stated his name.

"Deku? Like Deck? That's weird." The blonde one noted. The Dark Remnant had to agree with the blonde one. That name was so stupid.

"I like it." Deku defended his name.

"Kay. Well, I'm Lemillion." The blonde one stated. "For the number of people I'll save. Ya know. Can't save 'em all. But I can shoot for saving 1,000,000 instead, so that's what I'm doing. When we put on our costumes and hit the streets, that\s when we become Heroes, so don't let your guard down, Deku." That name was stupid to Vanitas too, for the goody two shoes nonsense reasoning behind it.

"Got it, Lemillion." Deku replied to his partner before continuing their patrol.

Vanitas almost groaned from hearing that last part of the conversation. At least he had names for the faces, as stupid as those names were. But before he could ponder on that, the bundle of negative emotions that he had felt was really close now, and it was coming towards where the two boys were approaching. The Dark Remnant looked down the alleyway and could hear the sound of footsteps and what sounded like panicked breaths. This person was running from something, and by the sound of the pitter patter, they were barefoot. It was then that he finally spotted the source.

"Someone, anyone! Please!" said a little girl, with white hair, dressed in a plain shirt that went down below her knees, her arms and legs covered in bandages, and a small horn sticking out of her head who was running down the alleyway. There were so many emotions coming from this little girl. Anxiety, Guilt, Hurt, Apprehension, Doubt, Sadness, but the most prominent of these emotions was Fear. This girl was running from something, and she was terrified of whatever it was. So much so, that she didn't even notice the two boys she was approaching until she ran head first into one of them and fell on her back from the recoil.

Deku felt the girl hit his leg and took notice of her fall from the recoil and her pushing herself up to her knees. "Whoa, I'm sorry." He kneeled down to her eye level. "You took a tumble." He reached out a hand to help her, but that sent out many danger signals in the girl's head that Vanitas could feel coming from her. She froze in terror and let out a tiny yelp, which Deku had noticed, making him pull back his arm. "Are you okay? Uh, can I help you up?" He put his arms under her shoulders in an attempt to lift her, but he stopped when he noticed her trembling.

[Play Boku no Hero Academia OST Evil of Psychology]

The Dark Remnant then noticed someone else approaching the boys. "You should be more careful." That familiar voice made the little girl flinch, and both boys saw who was approaching them, sending danger signals to the both of them, but Lemillion was good at masking those signals. Overhaul stepped out of the shadows in the alleyway and continued speaking to the girl. "We don't want to cause trouble for the Heroes. Let's go home, Eri." He then turned his attention to Deku, putting on a friendly face, in spite of how annoyed he was being in this situation. "I hope you'll forgive my daughter, Hero. I don't know what to do with her. Always playing rough, bumping into things."

Deku froze up, and even if Vanitas couldn't sense the anxiety and shock coming from the boy, he could see it in his face. Going off of the earlier conversation he overheard, this basically confirmed that Overhaul was the 'target' that Lemillion had mentioned. Speaking of Lemillion, he put Deku's cowl on for the boy and spoke up. "Whoopsie daisy. Looks like that darn mask came off again. You might want to think about getting it resized, my friend." He then spoke on behalf of Deku, giving the boy time he needed to fix his composure. "I'm so sorry about that, it was our fault too. I know that mask! You must be from the Hassaikai, right? You guys are famous around here."

"Yeah, please don't mind the mask. It keeps out the filth." Overhaul told Lemillion. "I don't believe I've seen you two in the area before." He doesn't know these two. More leverage for Vanitas to potentially use if this conversation goes in a certain direction.

"Right! Well, we're still pretty new, but you probably already guessed that much." Lemillion told him. "Now, on your feet, partner. Can't do much Heroing from down there." The Dark Remnant was impressed. Lemillion was half lying. Deku is the new blood, but he clearly knows what he's doing. He also didn't give out a name for either of them. He's withholding information.

Overhaul tried another angle to get some info on the pair. "So, what agency do you belong to?"

"We're only students. Far too lowly to be claiming any association with an agency. We're just using our internships to get some experience." Lemillion answered, once again giving the yakuza basically nothing to work with. "Speaking of which, we need to finish patrolling this division by lunch. Come on, let's go." He motioned for Deku to follow him.

"Right." Deku was about to leave, but he stopped when Eri held on to him.

"Please." She quietly pleaded. "Please don't go."

The danger signals elevated, and Vanitas could feel it. Deku then spoke. "Um...excuse me. I'm sorry, but...your daughter seems scared."

Overhaul got more annoyed. "A reaction to being scolded."

Lemillion was getting concerned, but kept playing it off like he wasn't. "Sure!"

"Wait, but..." Deku noticed Eri's condition, even feeling tears coming from her. "She's got bandages all over. Those are just from 'playing rough'?"

"Eri's an exceptionally clumsy girl." Overhaul told him, acting as nonchalant as he could.

"Her whole body is shaking, but she's not making a sound." Deku pointed out, as he gently wrapped his arm around her body in a protective manner. "Does that seem like it's normal to you?"

"It's dangerous to make assumptions about what's normal for other people." Overhaul told the boy.

"Yeah, everybody's different. Am I right?" Lemillion agreed.

Vanitas could sense all the negative emotions coming from each of these four people. While Eri was still giving out the most, the other three were steadily rising with Deku's anxiety that shifted into aggression, Lemillion's rising worry and inner conflict, and Overhaul's steadily rising anger and annoyance. To the Dark Remnant, it felt like a drug addict finding the best value product of the stuff they take.

Deku gently, but firmly held Eri in his arms and spoke to Overhaul. "Tell me. What are you doing to this girl?"

[Silence]

After a brief moment of silence, Overhaul sighed. "You Heroes really pick up on the subtlest things, don't you? Very well." He seemed willing to talk about it. "This situation is embarrassing. So I'd prefer to discuss it where we won't be overheard." He walked back into the alley that he and Eri had come from, prompting the two boys to follow him, albeit rather hesitantly. Deku carried Eri as they followed him, and Vanitas silently trailed from the rooftop, keeping himself close enough to hear the conversation below. "Hard to admit that you can't control your own child, but lately Eri defies me no matter what I try."

"Parenting, man. Sounds rough." Lemillion commented, continuing to play it cool, in spite of the extremely dangerous situation they were in. "That can't be easy."

[Play Boku no Hero Academia OST The Murderer's Eye]

Overhaul sighed again. "Yes, children are tricky. So determined to do whatever they want. That sometimes they just don't listen." He went to 'adjust his glove', which Eri saw and her fear and panic spiked up. It almost made Vanitas drool with how much negativity was coming out of her. She immediately pushed herself off of Deku and ran back to Overhaul, stopping at his side. "Oh, good. Done with your temper tantrum?" She quietly nodded, but her body was still trembling. The girl was clearly not okay.

"Uh. Eri, are you sure?" Deku questioned.

"She's always like this." Overhaul told him. "Sorry to involve you in our family drama. I'm sure you have better things to be doing. Good luck with your internships." He and Eri walked away.

Deku was about to follow, but Lemillion stopped him. When Overhaul was far enough away, he spoke to the younger boy. "We're not going after them. Didn't you notice? He was ready to get violent. That's why she went back. If we keep pushing him, he's gonna be even harder to catch." He decided the pair's next move. "For now, let's report to Sir."

There was clear conflict within the both of them, but Lemillion was keeping composure, while Deku took off his mask and looked visibly worried for Eri. It was starting to rain now, and Vanitas had to make a choice.

He could choose to be greedy and follow Overhaul, continuously feeding off of Eri's negativity. Doing so would potentially reveal to him another secret entrance to the underground labyrinth. But that would be all he could do. He can't tail Overhaul once he enters the labyrinth, because that would risk his chances of being let in. Not only that, but he has the knowledge of Eri's existence and unknowingly clear importance to the young head. He won't be getting any more leverage against the Hassaikai while Overhaul is in broad daylight, even if he sticks to the alleyways.

Then there's option number two. He could tail Deku and Lemillion, getting information on their investigation of Overhaul, as well as a clear image of this 'Sir' person that they're reporting to. Sir is most certainly the one in charge of this investigation, and getting a face, as well as any more info about what they know will not only give the Dark Remnant more leverage against the Hassaikai, but it could also be leverage against the Heroes that would gain him some favor within the Yakuza group, should he inform them of the threat. This option isn't without risk though, as not only does he need to be undetected by these two, but also by any other Pro Heroes in this area.

Weighing his options, he made his choice. And tailed the pair he deemed a higher priority.

[Silence]

Back with Sora and Centipeder, the pair had just finished crossing their finding with each other and doing another scan of the area to see if they missed anything. They came up with nothing new, and it was basically the same conclusion that they had last time. The League was for certain here, and they got into a violent fight that ended with Magne either being severely wounded, or killed. In response Tomura most likely attacked and wounded or killed one of the attackers in retaliation before they fled and the League had to hastily dispose of the evidence before getting away.

"The other group covered their tracks too well." Sora admitted. "We don't have anything to pin this on the Hassaikai, other than 'they were seen in the area around this time'. But that's not enough."

Centipeder then received a message from his phone. He took it out and read it. "What?!" He exclaimed, alerting Sora. "Light Heart, Lemillion just reported that he and Deku came into contact with Chisaki."

"What?!" The Keyblade wielder was shocked. "Are they okay?"

"Yes, but we need to regroup." Centipeder told him. "Let's go."

Once the three teams grouped back together, Mirio gave out the details to the others. "Sorry. It was a total oops. I mean, wow, what are the odds of randomly running into a target on the streets like that?"

"No. I must accept responsibility." Sir spoke up. "I should have used Foresight on you two. It's my fault."

"I'm just glad you guys are okay." Bubble Girl said. "You could have been in danger if he suspected something."

"Yeah. That sounded too close for comfort." Sora commented.

"It's good that you two got out of there unharmed." Centipeder stated.

"It didn't feel all that scary to me." Izuku told them.

[Play FF7 Remake OST The Promised Land - Cycle of Souls]

"Chisaki and his gang were involved with a recent traffic accident, caused by a group of hoodlums. Which isn't remarkable in and of itself. Except there were zero casualties." Sir informed him and Sora. "The thieves experienced intense pain and lost consciousness, but they were uninjured, and even reported that existing ailments like rheumatism and cavities were completely gone. The authorities believed that Chisaki's quirk may have been responsible, but with the Villains caught and nobody harmed, there was no crime to accuse him of."

"The money that was stolen burned up, so there was nothing to recover." Bubble Girl added. "The police didn't find any sign of a crime in that regard either, but the whole thing seemed suspicious, so Nighteye Agency began watching the Hassaikai. We haven't figured out what it is yet, but we know they're up to something."

"The potential incident with the League of Villains at the warehouse that Light Heart and I investigated could shed some more light on the situation, but until more concrete evidence is found, it's just theory." Centipeder chimed in.

"Oh, I forgot. Sir." Togata spoke up again. "We got lucky. At least a little. Our brief encounter yielded some new intel. Chisaki, he has a daughter."

"A daughter?" Nighteye repeated.

"A little girl who he called Eri." Midoriya explained, looking really conflicted. "Her limbs were all wrapped in bandages. I don't know anything else about her, but she was asking for help. There must be something we can do to protect her."

Sir then spoke up. "I won't let your arrogance interfere with this case."

Izuku was taken aback by that. "But, Sir..."

"Haste won't help the situation." Nighteye explained. "Take your time pursuing a target. If you rush, they are that much more likely to escape. You're not so special that you can save whoever you want whenever you want."

Midoriya looked defeated after hearing that, and Sora stepped up. "He just wanted to know if he could have done more to help her. It's not his fault that he has a good heart." That earned him a glare from Sir, but the boy was unphased, standing by what he said.

Nighteye then responded. "We've asked for other agencies to team up with us. We must first predict our opponent's moves and then make preparations to face him. Good intentions alone aren't enough to save the world. The wisest Villains hide in the shadows. In order to find them, we must watch and wait." After that explanation was given, the two 1-A boys were given a moment to think about the advice that was given to them. Sir then spoke to all three of his Work Study students "You three should head back into the office for today. Centipeder, take you and Light Heart's findings and cross them with the available information we have back at the office. Bubble Girl, let's go."

"Yes, Sir." Bubble Girl followed Nighteye as they left to continue their surveillance.

Sora could see Izuku was not handling the situation well. But when he was going to talk to him, he felt something creeping up his spine. There wasn't anything on him, but he felt...off. He looked up at a rooftop across from the street that they were near, and Mirio noticed that. "What's got you like that, Light Heart?"

"I don't know." The Keyblade wielder answered. "For some reason, I just felt like someone was there."

"Just a feeling?" Centipeder questioned.

Sora kept looking at that rooftop, but he couldn't see anyone there. "Yeah, just a feeling. Nothing to look into." He said before the four of them left to go back to the Nighteye Agency, marking the end of the two 1-A boys' first day of Work studies with neither of them feeling fulfilled at all.

[Play KH Project Destati: DARKNESS -Sacred Moon-]

Some time passed, and back with the League of Villains, Tomura was in another room by himself, pondering about what his next move should be. It was then that a familiar dark corridor had appeared close to him, and out came Vanitas. "So, did you find what you were looking for?"

"That and so much more." The Dark Remnant answered.

"For now, keep that information just between us." Shigaraki suggested. "I can trust that you'll best know when to speak whatever information you got, but not the others, at least not yet."

"So secretive all of a sudden." Vanitas commented.

"Better that you have the dangerous information than someone who can't come back after death." Tomura pointed out.

"Hm. Fair point." The Dark Remnant conceded. "Well, I've got leverage that can be used against the Hassaikai, and leverage that can be used to gain favor with them. Pick your poison."

"Let's start with leverage against them." Shigaraki said.

"Overhaul has a kid that he doesn't want the world to know about." Vanitas told the League Leader. "He called her, Eri. She was the source of the 'dull' feeling I had in the labyrinth. Whatever he's doing to her...it's messed her up."

"You sound a little too happy about that." Tomura noted.

"I'm fueled by negativity, remember?" The Dark Remnant pointed out. "The amount she was giving off. It was like a drug. I had to fight off the instinct to just stay close to her, let alone leave her to trail that Deku kid who's on your kill list."

"Deku? Are you talking about the green brat?" Shigaraki asked.

"The very same. He and Sora are both working for a guy named Sir, and are getting a bunch more Heroes to help them look into the Hassaikai." Vanitas explained.

"So there's a chance that they're going to be swarmed by Heroes if they're not careful." The League Leader stated. "If we play our cards right..."

"We could walk away with the spoils, while the yakuza takes the brunt." The Dark Remnant finished.

The two of them smirked under their masks, both on the same wavelength. They didn't even need to speak to know what the other was thinking. They knew what to do. All they needed now was for Vanitas to get inside the Hassaikai.

Howdy everyone. I managed to get back in a MHA and KH mood again, so I was able to write another chapter. I know it's been a while, and I also know about how the MHA manga is...well...finished. I gotta admit, the official My Hero story took some turns that I did not expect, and some turns that I predicted whole sale. One thing I will say though, is that I was invested the whole time it was being worked on. Heck, I wouldn't be writing this story if I didn't have interest in it. I will admit that staying in an MHA mood will probably get more difficult, since new content won't really be coming out, but there's no way that I'll stop writing this story because of that. I might end up writing more on my other stuff, but I'm not going to abandon the story that truly got me to where I am today on this site. I'm not going to let the loyal reviewers, the fan artists, the repeat readers, and all the other folks who come here be left hanging. I just hope that you guys can continue to tolerate my nonconsistent writing schedule. Anyways, about the chapter. Once again, this chapter is double perspective. Sora's first day at the Nighteye Agency, and he spent it with Centipeder, investigating the warehouse that Magne was killed in. I know a portion of you were expecting Sora to be with Mirio and Izuku, but I felt like Centipeder would need a partner, and he was in charge of doing the investigation during this ark, plus, he helped teach Sora his deductive skills, so why not have Sora's first day on the field be that? And instead of him finding Eri, it's Vanitas that spots her instead. I think it was pretty obvious that Vanitas sensed Eri's emotions when he first entered the Hassaikai headquarters, so you better believe that when he feels her outside of the place, he was going to investigate and find her. Not only that, but he now has leverage that can be both used against Overhaul, and in favor of Overhaul, depending on what he chooses to spill to him, should he be scouted for the Hassaikai. That's all for this chapter. I hope you enjoyed and until I decide to upload again. ;)
