The tale tells the story of a Hero from the Sky, descending down into an unknown world, facing perilous trials to save not only his world but also the Spirit Maiden, whom he holds dear to his heart. Their actions help unite their world of the sky & the one below the clouds they grew fond of. Their legacy carved a path for the great kingdom you know today, Hyrule.
'Of course, I know this story! Everyone does! Why should I give this story any thought if it played out as it did?' you may be thinking now.
Most of you reading this more than likely had all seen this story play out how it was initially told. But in the vast universe, there are different worlds. Timelines that are different from each other. Paths change direction due to a particular event going in a different direction. Some of these you may know of
One where Hyrule fell into darkness but still held hope.
One where Hyrule flourished and overcame an invasion of Twilight.
One where Hyrule was even flooded and a new one was formed.
And one where Hyrule had fought several Great Calamities and paid a hefty price each time.
Perhaps some of you reading this have also read similar stories set in 'Alternate Timelines' created by those who love these tales and maybe some by the creators themselves.
Each of these is different in many ways. Yet despite their vast differences, there is one trait they all typically have in common. Their histories had the same beginning: 'The Era of the Sky.' When humanity thrived in the skies for centuries after their ancestors barely survived a great apocalypse. The Surface World was a mere myth to them. This is where this story takes place.
And you may think you know the drill: Boy & Girl are friends. Girl falls from the sky. Boy takes the mantle of Chosen Hero. Goes down to save her. Fights monsters. Defeated the bad guy. Saved the World. And Boy gets Girl in the end. Same ol' story. Business as usual.
