Spidermanne REBOOT: chapter 4
Hi! I just had a lot of time on my hands and felt like writing. Don't expect one every day lmao
Chapter 4: revenge (part 1)
It had been a week since the funeral, and Anne was at marcy's house. Marcy was sitting on her bed, and anne was sitting on the ceiling, scrolling. Not many words were being exchanged and marcy understood why.
"…so," marcy said out of nowhere. "How you feeling?"
Anne didn't look up (down? She was hanging on the ceiling). "Fine."
"Powers ok?"
"Finding them pretty easy so far," she gestured to the fact that she was sitting on the roof.
"Yeah, it looked like it."
"Wha-?" Anne said, falling down on the floor and getting back up.
Marcy smiled. "Oh, come on. Don't think I didn't notice you."
The truth was, for the past few days, Anne had been sneaking out in the evening. Not like, in the normal way, in the 'training for revenge by becoming a masked vigilante' kind of way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A pair of shady figures congregated in an alley.
One looked around, before taking out a bag with a white powder inside. Just as he handed it over, he was knocked out by a figure blazing past him and kicking him.
The buyer looked around in confusion, before seeing a girl hopping down, frog style. She was in a black and blue morphsuit, with round white eyes and a blue hood. She had a black beanie on, and on her chest was a frog foot symbol with a web around it.
"Ooh, what's that? Candy?"
"G-get away from me!"
"Oh come on, don't be a spoilsport. Hand some over. Sharing is caring."
He tried to run away only to be knocked out by a rock from a slingshot.
"Sorry sprig, i'll return it when i get something better."
She'd heard the news. The man who called himself big bones had escaped confinement. The man who had killed her uncle benny. She was going to find him. For now, she'd train, but one day she'd catch her prize.
Meanwhile, marcy stared on, holding a binbag.
"What the hell?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"How did you know? I've only been going out at night."
"Dude, that alley last night with the dealers? Right where my trash bins are. I saw the entire thing."
"Uuuummmm…"
"Dude, the neighbourhood watch has been trying to catch them for like two years now. It was kinda awesome to be honest."
"…jeez, I thought you were gonna go on a talk about my safety and the questionable ethics of vigilanteism."
"Nope! I would, but you're kinda awesome so as long as you aren't looking for revenge or anything i'm good."
Anne sweated nervously. "…sure… anyway," she tried to change the subject, "i've been stealing sprigs slingshot for long range weaponry every night and he's probably gonna catch on. He's like, hyper aware at this point, after what happened."
"Understandable."
"So, you got anything else?"
Marcy smiled. "About that… you still got the party watch?"
"Do I?" She said, pulling back her wrist and revealing it, using it to release confetti.
"Really? I have to clean that up now."
"Sorry, mars," anne said sheepishly, taking it off and handing it to marcy. "So what d'you need it for?"
Marcy took out charlie bigbottom again. "So, why do you think i made this lil' guy?"
"For fun?" Anne guessed.
"Yes, and," she took out a vial of something, "to study it. I've managed to make artificial spider webbing fluid!"
"…and this is important because…?"
Marcy seemed annoyed that she didn't get it yet. "Because," she messed around with the watch before pouring some of the fluid in, "you can now spin your own webs.""Huh?"
Marcy picked up an apple.
"Watch this."
She turned it to confetti mode and threw the apple. When it reached it's peak, she activated it and a blast of webbing hit the apple, pinning it to the wall.
Anne stood, dumbfounded. "Marcy, how are you this smart? Like, if this was a fictional story, it'd really plot convenient."
"I know, right?"
"So, that's my long range problem solved," Anne said. "But i'm curious. What does the silly string mode do?"
Marcy smiled. "Follow me."
———————————————
They were in the back alley, and after looking around for anyone, they decided the coast was clear. Anne put on the watch again.
"Anne, it's very important that you aim this right."
"Got it!"
THWIP!
A web flew out of Anne's watch, grappling itself high up on the wall of the alley. Anne tugged at it and it wouldn't remove.
"…how strong is this stuff?"
"Oh, it can hold, like, 20 times your bodyweight."
"Huh?"
"You're welcome. And don't question the science of how i fit so much fluid in there."
———————————————
Anne was looking around at night for her prey. The new tech was a welcome addition to the hunt, and she quickly picked up on swinging from building to building. Luckily marcy had told her that The webbing only lasts an hour.
"Go away you frickin' creep!"
Anne recognised that voice. She stopped swinging and jumped onto a wall, where she crawled the rest of the way.
She entered the alley to find a trio of gang members around none other than… Sasha?"
"SA-i mean, MISS!"
The gang members turned around.
"Oh, hey fellas," she said, "Looking… who am i kidding? You all look ugly as heck."
"Hey! My mom tells me i look handsome!" One gang member said.
"Yeah, well, she also happens to have dimensia," said another.
"Woah, too far, dude," the third said.
"Too far?" The second responded. "Sorry."
"Look, can you all just back away from the fabulous looking young girl?" Anne said. Sasha turned red as a tomato at this.
"Oh yeah, i forgot we were harassing this person," number 2 said.
"Well, you ain't getting past Triple B!"
Anne was confused. "Triple B?"
"Yeah!" The first one said. It's for Bartley, branson and Blair."
"Well, Bartley, thanks for telling me your names, you idiot, but i'm afraid we're gonna have to do this the hard way."
"Wha-"
He was stopped by the vigilante kicking him in the chest.
"Ow, my soft supple stomach!" Bartley said.
"Weakling," mumbled branson, annoyed.. "Game on-" he was stopped as anne sent a web blast at him, pinning him to the wall.
"Wow, you guys are really pathetic," Anne said.
"Nobody calls us pathetic-" Blair didn't finish, as he was kicked in the balls by none other than Sasha.
"What? I can fight too," she said simply.
"Wow, that was a mean kick to the nether regions, sweetie. You tell him," Anne said flirtatiously, blushing herself. What? Screw it! She was wearing a mask. She could flirt with her crush all she wants.
"Th-thanks," Sasha mumbled, extremely red in the face.
"No prob. Might call on ya if i need a kick in the balls for someone else," she said. Sasha covered her face when leaving.
After she'd left, she stuck all of them to the wall. She went up to blair, who seemed to be the most sensible, and began.
"Now tell me. Where is Big bones? Because if you thought her kick was bad, you ain't met me," she growled.
"B-bad bones? The guy who killed that man?"
"Yes, him." Anne was growing more frustrated.
"I-I have no idea!"
"Well, you're no use to me," anne said. She web-bombed his mouth and left.
———————————————
The police showed up a few minutes later to find the trio stuck in webs.
"Well, we thought she was a frog and now she's a spider. If she's gonna be a pain in our asses, can't she at least make up her mind…?" Chief waybright mumbled to herself.
———————————————
It was the end of spring break and everyone was coming back to school.
Anne was vaguely tired, and had people consoling her from all sides. Her uncle's death was all over the news.
Marcy seemed really excited.
"Guys! I got an email from Stanford pines! He said I could intern with him in the summer!"
"That's great, Marcy!" Anne didn't really know what it entailed but was happy for marcy.
Sasha looked distracted by something.
"Hey Sash? You Ok?"
"Wha? Yeah, i'm fine!"
Anne was concerned. Was this to do with that night she was in the alley? It's not like she could ask, though, it never became public and so it would be really sus if she just said she knew.
Then again, why was she even hiding it from Sash? She was a close friend. One she trusted. Surely she could tell.
But… oh crud, she FLIRTED with her. Like, A LOT. To reveal herself would also be revealing her crush. And also, she can't tell ANYONE. And Sasha's dad is a scientist! Oh hell nah!
So instead, Anne just looked at her and shrugged. "Okay."
Sasha leaned towards marcy.
"I need to tell you something."
———————————————
"So turns out Anne was right. Frogs can be cute as hell."
"Huh?" Marcy was confused. Surely not…
"That hero girl who's been showing up on the news? Yeah, so she saved me one day and i don't know if she's normally that flirty or not or if she was doing it specifically for me but surely not i'm not anything special but i'm scared that she might actually like me and if i just ignore it it's rude and-" she took a deep breath. "I totally have a crush on her."
Marcy stared at her. Oh this can't be happening. Her two best friends, who she's been trying to get together for the past two years , both have a crush on the other, one doesn't even know the other is Anne, AND both have no idea the other is crushing on them. It was like the classic love triangle trope but not even a triangle! Some sort of straight line.
"Well, this is a development."
So yeah! Sashanne canon hehe
I don't usually do ships but a friend begged me to do this and also she just kinda fits well.
Also, webslinger! We got it. The party watch came back! Lil' fact, the party watch was based off a fun project me and a friend did one time for the lols. I made a wrist-mounted sillystring launcher. (It could only do one launch, not enough string could fit inside).
Hope you enjoyed!
