Chapter Forty-Three

It has been a little close to a week since Danielle's little trip into the past. Everyone was glad she was staying. Danielle ends up covering her head this morning as Luz's cell phone goes off. Turning over slightly, Danielle sees Luz, growing concerned at seeing Luz not looking like herself. As the morning progresses, Danielle becomes even more concerned alongside Eda and King when spotting Luz scribbling away on the white board.

"I wonder what's got her knickers in such a bundle," thought Danielle, staring at Luz. "Whatever was on her cell phone has got her completely on edge."

"Uh, feelin' okay, Luz?" asked King, looking at Luz.

"I feel great! Today's gonna be a productive day of problem solving," said Luz, grabbing a list and showing Eda. "Look!"

""Successfully build a portal to the Human Realm"? "Learn every glyph combination"? "Figure out what Belos is planning and show him what for"?" said Eda, staring at the list.

"Look. I've already learned a new combo," said Luz, digging through some papers. "Excuse me, Francois. I call it the safety hover!"

"Luz, we already discovered that one," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "Remember?"

"Oh right," said Luz, sheepishly rubbing the back of her foot with her other foot. "I'm already on my way to building a second door."

"Achoo!" sneezed Hooty, as the second mish mash door fell on him. "Ow!"

"Hooty!" said Danielle, running over and taking the stuff off him. "Better?"

"Yes," replied Hooty, before shaking off some dust.

"Uh, it's a work in progress," said Luz, holding up Eda's Penstagram. "But look at this!"

"Did you steal my Penstagram?" asked Eda, looking at Luz.

"I borrowed it because I've got a castle insider getting info on Belos," said Luz, looking at Eda and Danielle. "Willow gave me Hunter's contact. Hehehe."

"He is a slow texter," said Danielle, before seeing a picture of the Red Cardinal Palisman. "Aaw, cute. And it seems like he's a fan of your book King."

"Cool," said King, grabbing the Penstagram and texting Hunter.

"Hmm. You're avoiding something," said Eda, looking at Luz. "Spill it."

"I am not! Maybe I am. Okay, I definitely am," said Luz, giving Eda her Penstagram back before sitting. "Every year, me and Mom have this little ritual we do. It's nothing big. I just miss her. That's all."

"I see where you're coming from," said Danielle, pulling Luz into a side hug. "Me and dad have some rituals as well. Just don't ask me to do our victory dance."

"What you need is a healthy distraction from your problems," said King, before grabbing the list. "Like… really think you're gonna beat Danielle in a spar."

"After I heal from the last one," said Luz, rubbing her shoulder. "Your punches are really beginning to hurt more."

"Yeah, mom mentioned my body is adjusting to being celestial and such sooo…" said Danielle, lightly scratching her cheek. "My body is becoming more like theirs meaning I need a lot control to hold back."

"Well, let us know if you need anything, okay?" said Eda, before walking out of the room with King.

"Okay, shoot," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "Something's been bothering you with this ritual."

"It's nothing for you to worry about," said Luz, looking at Danielle.

"It is something to worry about when you're trying to hide it like I do," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "I have been slowly opening up over the course of almost a year since we landed here."

"Okay, it's…" said Luz, only for Amity to walk in. "Thank the Titan."

"Luz!" said Amity, looking at Luz. "I have a problem, and it could distract us all day!"

"Tell me all about it and don't spare a single detail!" said Luz, as Amity sat next to her and explaining her problem.

"And just when I was about to get Luz to tell me," thought Danielle, listening to Luz and Amity talking. "This happens."

"I don't even want to join a coven anymore," said Amity, a little miffed. "And this thing is so embarrassing, I even tried disguising it."

"Yeah. I actually think Eda has the same outfit," said Luz, staring at the Abomaton that followed Amity.

"Use to," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "I may have organized some of her things without her knowing and hidden some that should never see the light of day ever again."

"The Bonesborough Brawl is the one cool thing my dad did before joining the Abomination Coven," said Amity, sighing. "It would've been nice to share something with him."

"Damn, your dad is hot there," said Danielle, staring at the photo. "I mean… forget I ever said that."

"That's my dad, you know," said Amity, looking at Danielle. "It will be hard to forget you said that."

"I should have kept my mouth shut," thought Danielle, groaning as she places her hands to her face.

"Well, hey, I'm here to help..." said Luz, pulling Amity into a side hug. "You ditch the tryouts and enter the Brawl!"

"What?!" said Amity, shocked.

"Come on. You should know I always go for the chaotic route," said Luz, winking at Amity. "And if you win, maybe you can use it as a chance to tell your dad that you don't want to join a coven anymore."

"Did somebody say Bonesborough Brawl? I used to love going to those," said Eda, entering the room with King. "Your pops was great in duels. Plus, if you go, you can get that ugly thing out of my house."

"Hmm. You know what? I'll give it a shot," said Amity, conjuring a spell circle to change her voice to sounding like her dad's. "Abomination, fetch me, a, uh, rare and- and difficult to find emerald dagger from the Night Market!"

"That'll keep him busy," said Eda, seeing the Abomaton leave the house.

"But my dad can't find out that I ditched tryouts," said Amity, excited. "Not until I win that belt."

"Don't worry. I got you, boo," said Luz, grinning mischievously.

A few hours have passed. Luz had gotten Emira and Edric's help with getting Amity into the brawl. Even Danielle secretly signed up, wanting to know where she stood now. As they waited on the grounds where the brawl was being held, the girls, Eda, King and Amity spot the twins.

"Hey, Mittens!" said the Twins, walking over.

"Looks like Amity doesn't want them being here," thought Danielle, seeing Amity was annoyed.

"We're proud of you, sis," said Emira, looking at Amity.

"Yeah, you're becoming more of a delinquent every day," said Edric, looking at Amity.

"All right, Ed," said Emira, looking at Edric. "Hand over your Concealment Stone."

"Like I need one of those," said Edric, before Emira grabs and pulls him over. "Hey!"

"Don't play games, Ed," said Emira, looking at Edric. "I saw you take one this morning."

"Well you saw wrong!" said Edric, struggling against Emira.

"This won't take long," said Amity, looking at Luz and Danielle.

"Wait... What's that supposed to mean?" asked Edric, as Emira rolled up his sleeve.

"Found it!" said Emira, taking the concealment stone off Edric before taking her's off as well. "Here's mine too for a little extra flair."

"You two… actually look fine," said Danielle, seeing the Twins actual appearance before her eyes start to glass over after looking at Emira too long.

"None of that," said Luz, flicking Danielle's forehead as Amity and the Twins stare. "I'll explain later."

"Ow," said Danielle, holding her forehead.

"Not bad," said Amity, placing the two concealment stones together as her look changed.

"Ooh, so pretty!" said Luz, hugging and spinning Amity around.

"Well, might as well get ready," said Danielle, walking away and putting a concealment stone on. "This cost a pretty penny but I don't want anyone recognizing me."

The concealment stone was simple, gold and diamond shaped. Danielle's appearance changed under its effect. Dark blue flowing hair that reached to her waist and pulled up into a ponytail with a white ribbon, purple eyes and a tanned complexion. White wrappings bound around her chest with an open red vest with gold borders. White harem pants that stopped at her knees with gold borders and a flowing pink sash around her waist and matching flat shoes. White wrappings around her hands.

"Oh, this is cool," said Danielle, before squealing. "Eee, my voice sounds like Rana. I love it. Oh, they're about to start."

"You know the rules. Contestants will fight one-on-one. Not for honor, not for glory, but for the ultimate bragging rights as the toughest dueler on the Isles!" said the Announcer, getting everyone's attention. "Last one standing will get the chance to snag the coveted Brawler's Belt from our reigning champion, Warden Wrath!"

"I'll just let Amity have that," said Danielle, staring at the champion's belt. "I'll forfeit the match before I hurt Amity too much. Gotta show Alador his baby girl is growing up."

"For our first round, we have Scab the All-Knowing," said the Announcer, gesturing to the competitors. "Versus The Mighty Mittens!"

"Couldn't come up with a better name?" thought Danielle, as Amity appeared in the arena.

"Now let the brawl begin!" said the Announcer, as the brawl started.

And the brawls began. Amity and Danielle were winning their matches one by one. And at one point, Luz had entered to help Amity get to the champion's belt faster. Emira ended up healing Luz and Amity between rounds while Edric ended up helping Eda and King with their little project. The next match was between Danielle and Luz.

"Our next match is between the Spellraiser versus Mystique," said the Announcer, gesturing the girls forward. "Begin!"

"All right Myst," said Luz, slamming down a Mist Glyph covering the arena. "How bout a little mist?"

"Nice try," said Danielle, spinning and secretly setting off a Wind Glyph, blowing the mist away before staring at Luz. "You have to think better than that, little one."

"Whoa!" said Luz, dodging Danielle's punches as best she could. "She's good. Ow-ow-ow!"

"Little slow, aren't'cha," said Danielle, eyeing Luz while bouncing on her feet.

"Oh, I'll get'cha," said Luz, setting off a Lightning Glyph that Danielle ducked under while running forward before getting in her face.

"Good night," said Danielle, punching Luz out of the arena.

"Oomph, that hurt," said Luz, landing on the ground and rolling over as Amity and Emira checked on her. "Sorry Amity."

"Don't worry," said Amity, as Emira started to heal Luz. "I'll get revenge for you."

"Don't let her get too close," said Luz, looking at Amity. "She hits really hard. Like really hard."

"Got it," said Amity, staring Danielle's way.

"I need a breather," said Danielle, conjuring forth some water and drinking it, before seeing Luz walk away while looking at her cell phone. "Luz?"

"Next time, I am throwing you into the ocean! It's you! Geez. Did you actually find an emerald dagger?" said Luz, as the Abomaton she bumped into started walking away. "Hey! Wait! Amity is so close to winning. Just stay back! Fine! If that's the way you want it... Hi-yah!"

"It had an alarm?" thought Danielle, as the alarm on the Abomaton went off.

"Get out of my head!" screamed Luz, covering her ears before slashing off the alarm.

"Oh, my good…" thought Danielle, watching Luz from behind a tree. "The alarm… Luz's reaction. Today was a day… to remember her dad. Oh Luz… why didn't you say anything? We could have helped."

"We're almost close to the end folks before the coveted Champion," said the Announcer, gaining everyone's attention. "Semifinal round between the Mighty Mittens versus Mystique. Who will go on to battle the champion?"

"I'm not going to lose to you," said Amity, eyeing Danielle. "I'll win this for Luz."

"Begin!" shouted the Announcer, before getting off the arena.

Amity sends abomination goo at Danielle, which she sidesteps. Danielle dodges as she closes in on Amity. Setting her abomination goo into a shield, Amity dodges as Danielle shatters the shield. Forming abomination goo around her hands, Amity clashes with Danielle, the abomination goo rippling to fall off.

"Your girlfriend is hurting," said Danielle, whispering into Amity's ear. "Be there for her since she can't return home. Important day can still be salvaged as long as you are with her."

"What?" said Amity, confused before being slammed down. "Ooo, she really does hit hard."

"Looks like the Mighty Mittens is down!" said the Announcer, looking at Amity than Danielle. "Mystique goes on…"

"I forfeit," said Danielle, confusing everyone at the brawl. "I know where I stand now. I don't need to go any further. Here."

"Uh… thanks," said Amity, taking the offered hand and getting up before whispering to Danielle. "What did you mean with all that?"

"She cannot see, cannot be…" said Danielle, whispering to Amity. "With someone who is no longer among us."

"Now, we're getting close to the end, folks! Will the Warden lose the Champion's Belt?" said the Announcer, gaining everyone's attention. "The Mighty Mittens versus the Warden!"

"Win this," said Danielle, looking at Amity as she got off the arena. "Then be with your girlfriend. Comfort her, listen to her. It's an emotional day for her… and her mom."

"Did something happen to Luz this day?" thought Amity, as she approached Warden Wrath. "What did she lose?"

"Now, let the brawl…" said the Announcer, only for the ground to shake.

"Stop!" shouted Alador, emerging from the ground wrapped in a layer of abomination goo. "This child forfeits the match."

"This not good," said Danielle, looking at Alador. "Especially if his memories have not fully returned."

"Dad? How did you find us?" asked Amity, as her dad was placed before her by his abomination.

"Not only did you ditch the coven tryouts, but someone set off your Abomaton's alarm," replied Alador, handing the broken alarm over to his daughter. "I just followed its signal."

"Luz, did you... lie to me earlier?" asked Amity, feeling betrayed as she looked at Luz.

"I didn't wanna worry you," said Luz, nervously.

"Well, I am worried! You've been acting weird all day and now I'm in trouble!" said Amity, looking at Luz. "What is going on with you?"

"It's nothing, really. Seriously, it- it's nothing!" said Luz, as Danielle touched her shoulder. "Mystique?"

"Enough," said Danielle, taking down her concealment.

"Danielle?!" said Luz and Amity, looking at Danielle. "You're Mystique!?"

"Yeah, I am," said Danielle, before looking at Luz. "I actually figured out what is going on with you."

"… … …" said Luz, trying to back up.

"I know it's not easy to say good bye," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "I know it's not easy not seeing them again. But the memories they left with us is still here. In our hearts, and in our memories. Just because they're no longer here doesn't mean they probably aren't watching us from the other side. I know you're hurting Luz. So please... let us help you today. Cry if you must, we'll be there for you to lean on."

"Luz…" said Amity, as Luz ran away before going after her.

"Am I… missing something?" asked Alador, looking at Danielle.

"The alarm you had installed sounds very much like an ambulance from back in our realm. It's a medically-equipped vehicle used to transport patients to treatment facilities, such as hospitals," said Danielle, looking at Alador. "But sometimes they don't get there in time and the person is already gone. The siren just made her remember that day… painfully I might add."

"Oh… I didn't realize," said Alador, looking the way Amity and Luz went.

"I'm gonna find Eda and King," said Danielle, walking away. "You know, Amity really wanted to do this. To share something with you."

"… …" thought Aador, staring at his reflection in the siren. "Amity."

"Odalia, the Emperor is planning to wipe out everyone with a Draining Spell, and our Abomatons are helping him do it."

"What the?!" thought Alador, as Warden Wrath approached him. "Wrath."

"Alador," said Warden Wrath, staring at Alador.

Searching for Eda and King, Danielle comes upon them with Edric finishing some blabber serum. Danielle gestures for Eda and King to follow her. Walking and coming upon the tree from grom night, everyone listens to what Amity and Luz were talking about. Hearing everything, the three set off a Plant Glyph each before coming out of hiding.

"Hey there Luz," said Eda, holding a small bouquet of flowers.

"Eda, Danielle, King," said Luz, staring at them. "Ho-how much did you hear?"

"Almost everything," replied King, holding a small bouquet of flowers as well.

"Why are you holding…" said Luz, only to remember. "Oh right, your uncle died as well."

"I know this could have been a moment between you two but…" said Danielle, walking forward. "We want to be there for you too. Will you let us?"

"Yeah… yeah, sure," said Luz, getting a little teary eyed.

And so, tying each bouquet to a balloon made from abomination goo, everyone sets their flowers off to the wind. Hoping it reaches the ones they were thinking off. Petals from the tree blow in the wind as everyone just watches. Amity and Luz leaning into each other. Eda and Danielle leaning against the tree. And King curled up in Luz's lap.

"I can't wait to carve my palisman," said Danielle, staring at the pamphlet she got from Willow. "Flyer derpy sounds like a sport I'd get into here… huh?"

"Your flying was... amazing," said Willow, staring at Hunter. "You're a new student, right?"

"Yeah, weird we've never seen you around," said Gus, looking at Hunter suspiciously. "What's your name?"

"Uuh…" said Hunter, as the Red Cardinal Palisman landed on his shoulder and chirped.

"Yeah, what is your name?" asked Danielle, before whispering to Hunter. "What are you doing here Hunter?"

"Caleb? Uh, Caleb! Uh, Jasper... Bloodwilliams. I just transferred from... uh..." said Hunter, before staring towards Puddles nearby. "The... Toes? But! I'm not here to play Fly Dooby or... whatever that is. I have my own mission."

"Pfft," thought Danielle, looking at Hunter. "So, this is what Azura meant."

"Okay... At least take a pamphlet?" said Willow, handing a pamphlet to Hunter.

"Hmmm…" thought Danielle, watching the exchange between Hunter and Willow before grabbing Hunter's shoulder before he left. "Hold it…"

"What do you want Half Breed?" asked Hunter, only to wince when Danielle tightened her hold. "Yeow!"

"Look, I was about to help you but if ya gonna be a prick…" said Danielle, before seeing Hunter sigh and turn around to her. "If ya ever go to the Human Realm, I think someone can help ya understand yourself. They're very much like you."

"… …" said Hunter, confused as Danielle walked away. "Someone like me… who is she…"

"Out of all the Grimwalkers, you looked the most like him."

"What's going on?" thought Hunter, holding his head. "Why'd uncle just call me a Grimwalker? Those times it was brought up by that Half Breed and uncle's spirit… it can't be true… it just can't."

"Thanks, Owlbert, I needed this," said Danielle, flying on staff in the night sky before spotting something. "What the… Darius?"

Landing on the ground, Danielle gives the staff a slight twirl, then Owlbert twirls before landing on her shoulder. Danielle spots Willow with her newly formed flyer derby team. Hunter, holding his cape, looks Danielle's way.

"What are you…" said Hunter, looking at Danielle.

"Fresh air, that's what," said Danielle, looking at Hunter before noticing the symbol on Hunter's cape. "Wait… is that…"

"The old symbol of the Golden Guards," said Hunter, as Danielle was holding her cell phone and looking something up. "And you're suppose to be the smart one of the two."

"Shut it," said Danielle, before showing Darius and Hunter what she looked up. "Tell me what you see."

"The old symbol of the Golden Guards," said Darius, before really looking. "On a sign of a town?"

"My hometown of Gravesfield," said Danielle, looking at Darius and Hunter. "It's been that symbol since its founding."

"This is an odd connection," said Darius, looking at Danielle's cell phone.

"But this is the symbol of the Golden Guards," said Hunter, looking at the symbol on his cape. "Why would some human settlement have it as their symbol?"

"Ow ow ow-ow-ow," said Luz, as Danielle lightly dabbed medicated swabs on her injuries.

"Hey, you asked for me to teach you what I learned in my self defense classes after the mind dive that day," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "You trying to do an advance move was all on you."

"Yeah, I get it now," said Luz, wincing as more ointment was applied. "What belt are you?"

"One I feel like I don't deserve," replied Danielle, blowing on Luz's wound. "I still feel like I could have learned more before being given the next belt up."

"I just hope you're not a black belt," said Luz, wincing in pain. "Yeow! Gentle!"

"I was gentle," said Danielle, looking at Luz.

"Aaah!" screamed Luz, Willow, and Danielle, before falling into some water.

"Hmmm," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking towards the girls alongside Priestess Mimosa.

"Did you have to sneeze us across the globe?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle. "Where are we?"

"Sorry," said Danielle, looking at Luz and Willow.

"Grandma," said Willow, noticing her grandma and aunt. "Aunt Mimosa."

"Willow, it is so good to see you again," said High Priestess Tulsi, stopping Mimosa from grabbing her breast dagger.

"Yeah, well, we're leaving soon," said Willow, conjuring a specific flower.

"Whoa Willow," said Luz, holding the flower down. "Let Danielle recover from that."

"Are we…" said Danielle, looking around before getting excited. "Hot spring… open air hot spring!"

"There a quite a few within the Veil," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking at the girls. "Would you like to join us?"

"Oh yes please," said Danielle, getting out of the hot spring and towards the building with Luz and Willow.

"Make sure none of the men see you," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking towards the girls.

"Don't worry," said Luz, Danielle and Willow. "We won't."

"No really, don't let them see you," said High Priestess Mimosa, looking towards the girls. "Tradition states that should the opposite gender see you naked, you'll be officially engaged."

"Heck no!" shouted Luz, Danielle, and Willow, running back out in towels. "Not happening."

"Mimosa, stop," said High Priestess Tulsi, stopping her daughter from grabbing her breast dagger.

"But that damn celestial…" said Priestess Mimosa, looking at her mom. "Fine."

"This feels great," said Danielle and Luz, dipping into the hot spring.

"Maybe the Veil isn't all that bad," said Willow, sitting on the edge while letting her feet soak. "I was never planning on ever returning here until that day."

"This place is bliss," said Danielle, smiling while enjoying the hot spring.

"… … … …" said Luz, staring between Willow, Danielle, High Priestess Tulsi and Priestess Mimosa before ducking her head half in the water. "So not fair."

"Coming in hot," said a Teen Male Witch, about to run into the hot spring. "Grandma, mom."

"Alder, no," said High Priestess Tulsi, blocking her grandson with a wall of vines. "We have guests in here."

"Is one of them that Luz girl?" asked Alder, from behind the wall. "If so, I bet Willow would love to have her best friend as an actual relative."

"… …" said Luz, slightly blushing. "I already have a girlfriend."

"I'm okay with a harem," said Alder, trying to pull the vines apart. "Though if it's that celestial, I have no problem looking at such a body before killing her."

"Uh-uh," said Danielle, hiding behind Luz. "Not happening."

"Does the people of the veil not have…" said Luz, looking at High Priestess Tulsi. "Same sex marriage?"

"We do have same sex marriage," replied High Priestess Tulsi, looking at Luz. "They're more uncommon but we do have them. The Veil just prefers a man and woman to get together so that the population keeps growing which same sex marriage will not give."

"Tret, no," said Alder, being dragged away. "There are beautiful babes on the other side."

"Sorry, little brother I cannot," said Tret, dragging his little brother away.

"Sadly, the people here have a slightly stronger sex drive when puberty hits," said High Priestess Tulsi, deeply sighing and hearing Alder struggle against Tret.

"We'll be leaving after we're done with the hot spring," said Danielle, looking at High Priestess Tulsi.

"Agreed," said Luz and Willow, as they see Alder thrown into another nearby hot spring.

"The celestial is a blonde!" said Alder, floating in the hot spring. "Hot!"

"Thanks for bringing me up here Owlbert," said Danielle, petting Owlbert as they flew in the night sky.

"… …" said Owlbert, warbling in response.

"Aster… I am so sorry. I've failed as a friend to you," said Danielle, looking towards the Emperor's Castle. "I've tried so many times to infiltrate even with some allies help in the castle but I can't seem to find you. Belos must have placed you somewhere else but where? Where could he have placed you? Please hold out a little longer, I will get you out of there, both from the castle and out of the In Between. I promise I will."

Meanwhile

"I miss Danielle and the others," said Aster, laying upside down on a table. "I bet they're thinking of me and how to get me back. I know they will."

"You okay, my little star?" asked Aria, stroking her daughter's hair as she leaned into her. "You've been doing a lot of mind dives lately."

"I'm fine," replied Danielle, hugging her mom. "This is the only way I can really see you right now. I just want to… savor it, that's all."

"I see," said Aria, before seeing Danny peering from behind the tree. "You haven't really gotten to know Danny much."

"I really don't know what to say to her," said Danielle, sighing as she leaned into her mom's touch. "She probably feels the same way to."

"You never know till you try," said Aria, gesturing Danny forward. "Why not try now?"

"Hi…" said Danny, shyly waving.

"Hey…" said Danielle, looking at Danny. "Are… are you the reason why I'm so good at gaming?"

"N-no," replied Danny, looking at Danielle. "I admit we may have some games that are the same but I only beat a handful compared to what Aria says about you. Honestly, I think you're the better gamer. I could never do those one hundred percent playthroughs."

"So, it's basically all me," said Danielle, looking at Danny. "I thought maybe some of the games you've played may have been relayed to me. I mean, seriously, I blazed through Soul Blazer."

"Yeah… I don't have that game," said Danny, looking at Danielle. "I ended up watching a playthrough on YouTube."

"Oh," said Danielle, slightly blushing. "So, any way…"

"Can we just talk about the games we played?" asked Danny, looking at Danielle. "And animes we watched. I'd rather not talk about my life. I mean it was wonderful but I don't want you to feel like visiting my Earth out of respect or anything."

"Yeah, sure," said Danielle, as Danny sat down.

"Game wise, do you use your name or make one up?" asked Danny, looking at Danielle. "Or even restart and replay again? I kinda used my name or just shorten it since not all games could fit it."

"Only restarted certain games. Left Pokémon ones as is since I didn't want to lose any pokémon and items from mystery gifts and codes," replied Danielle. "Same thing with the name. I actually like my name."

"Same here," said Danny, looking at Danielle. "Mom named me after her favorite author at the time. She read a lot of her books."

"I'm glad they're talking a little," thought Aria, looking at her daughter and Danny as they talked. "They both need it."

Owl Pellet #107

"Hey, Danielle," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Question: Remember when you said at one point there will be a female president when we were in the Deadwardian Era."

"Yeah, what about it?" asked Danielle, flipping a page in her book.

"Did you foresee it or something?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle.

"Mmm, no. I honestly believe we'll have a female president one day," replied Danielle, looking at Luz. "Not any time soon as I don't think we're really ready for one but eventually there will be one."

"Okay, I never asked you this before but you know I'm bi. What's your sexuality?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle as her eyes glazed over and waving her hand in front of Danielle's face. "Danielle, you there?"

"The only sexuality should be between man and woman. All the others are blasphemy. God didn't fashion us to be like that," said Danielle, her voice sounding monotone.

"Oh my gosh. I think I triggered something," said Luz, worried. "Eda, I think I need your help."

"This includes race as well. Never mix. Whites stay with white," said Danielle, still continuing her unresponsive spiel. "Blacks with blacks. Asians with Asians…"

"Eda!" shouted Luz, as Eda ran into the room. "Help."

"What happened?" asked Eda, hearing what Danielle was saying. "Ooo, this is not good. This must be the conditioning her grampa put her through."

"How do we get her to stop?" asked Luz, worried as Danielle kept going on. "All this stuff she's spewing is very worrying."

"Alright Danielle, wake up," said Eda, flicking Danielle's forehead really good.

"Ow!" shouted Danielle, holding her forehead. "That hurt."

"I could have done that," said Luz, mumbling slightly.

"Hey, Danielle," said Eda, placing a hand on Danielle's shoulder. "You good?"

"If back to normal, then yes but don't ask those kinds of questions," said Danielle, looking at Eda than Luz. "I happen to recede into my mind and start spewing what grampa taught me. I don't like it."

"There's got to be a way to undo it," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "That was just scary to see you like that. It's like your grampa doesn't want to…"

"Please just stop. Me falling into such a state is not good, I know but…" said Danielle, leaning back and looking at the ceiling. "I don't know what to do. I have no problems with guys even if I try to ignore them but whenever it comes to girls, it triggers. I can't even go after the cute bachelorettes in my games."

"So, you don't know if you truly swing either way or both," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Or possibly even feeling like being a guy or non-binary?"

"Oh, I know that part at least. I'm a girl," said Danielle, looking at Eda and Luz. "Who has no problem dressing up tomboyishly on occasions."

"Well, that's good, at least," said Eda, looking at Danielle.

"Well… maybe your mom can help," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "I bet she knows good mind magic to help reverse that conditioning."

"Yeah… but I don't know when that will happen," said Danielle, deeply sighing. "It make take years to undo all that work grampa did."

"Well, we'll help in any way we can," said Luz, sliding over and pulling Danielle into a side huge alongside Eda. "Us weirdoes have to stick together, you know."

"Yeah," said Danielle, leaning her head on Luz's shoulders. "We do."
