Chapter 17: Jinsei Power

Present Day

While the heroes work to stop their enemies, the Lin Kuei and Monks try to figure out what to do. Fujin remains behind at the Academy to substitute for the monk students as he tries to figure out what to do next. As he does so, he gets a notice from Liu Kang, who has some very bad news. And to back up his claims, Taven is put into the call as well.

"Liu Kang. Have you gathered any more information from somewhere? Sindel told me you would consult with the Elder Gods." Fujin said while also speaking to Jacqui, Takeda, Alex and Cassie.

"Unfortunately, yes. Something that may bring an end to all realms as we speak. Something about as dangerous as destroying time itself. Cetrion told me that a being resides in a place called the Pyramid of Argus. Hidden in Edenia. A being called Blaze." Liu Kang said.

"Blaze? What kind of monster is he?" Jacqui asked, not familiar with the name.

"An ancient deity created by my mother Delia." Taven answered. "This must be what my father warned me about. It lies within the Pyramid of Argus in Edenia far beyond the kingdom.

"I remember everyone telling me that sometime after I came to Earthrealm. That Raiden was trying to stop him from trying to unleash Armageddon on everyone. That's what Sonya and Johnny said to me." Alex points out.

"Wait. Armageddon? You mean history might end up repeating itself? After all the shit you all been through? So Shao Kahn plans to unleash this Blaze guy?" Cassie asked.

"Yes. The Kamidogu daggers were used to seal him away as he was deemed too dangerous by the Elder Gods. They helped Argus seal him away. He cannot see the light of day, otherwise history will indeed repeat itself." Liu Kang said.

"But how powerful would someone be if they were to kill him?" Takeda asked.

"If anyone, such as Shao Kahn were to kill Blaze, his strength will double in power. Lord Liu Kang and anyone else as powerful as him, or any other Elder God will never stand a chance against him." Taven said.

"And I suppose the Elder Gods proposed a plan just in case Blaze awakens from his eternal slumber. Knowing Cetrion as a redeemed god, she would know what to do." Fujin stated.

"Yes. However, Cetrion has told me, much to my reluctance, that I cannot tell you. I wish it was not so." Liu Kang reluctantly admits.

"We understand, Liu Kang. We all have our duty. I hope you're right about this. Anything to avoid any more problems with Shao Kahn and the Red Dragon." Cassie expresses some fear. No one can blame her, as everyone, including Liu Kang and Fujin share the same feeling as well.

"Fear not, Cassandra. With Raiden's memories and my visions as the Keeper of Time, I know that this will work. I will share more details with you as soon as I possibly can. You have my word." Liu Kang gives a reassuring smile as everyone signs off. Fujin closes out as he wonders what he should do until then. That was until one of the monks quickly runs up to him.

"Lord Fujin. We have trouble. Someone snuck past us and is heading to the Jinsei fountain. Below the Academy." The monk reports.

Fujin floats in the air and uses his wind powers to give him a big boost as he starts flying and zooming inside the Academy. Once inside, Fujin sees that the Monks are fighting the Red Dragon. But how? How was it possible that the Red Dragon managed to sneak in without setting off the traps? The God of Wind couldn't think about that right now. His main focus was getting to the Jinsei fountain before it was completely compromised. But getting there was not going to be easy, even for a god like Fujin.

Several warriors stand in his way, ready to fight. One member with a sword jumps to attack him, but Fujin pulls him in with the wind and spins him in circles around the wind god before being kicked through the three giant swinging axes, slicing him from limb to limb. Two other sword users swing, only for Fujin to quickly disarm them and slices one's stomach open and does a vertical swing and slices the other's chest open. Fujin then uses the wind and run over the rest of their heads and shoots four arrows at the same time at all four members' heads, killing them. One of them, fighting unarmed, attempts to charge at him from behind, but Fujin jump spins out of the way and appears on his left and sends a strong kick to his jaw, sending him upwards, and gets hit by a spiked pillar and slammed into the ceiling. Then he falls into a spike trap and is impaled in multiple parts of his body as his body twitches while dying. With no one else left, Fujin starts walking towards the Wu Shi Dragon Grotto.

Fujin walks inside the Grotto. Surprisingly there was no one there. No one except for one person, who is attempting to corrupt the Jinsei. Fujin holds the handle of his sword in one hand as he approaches closer. "Any point of me asking if there is any point in putting that Jinsei back where you have found it?" Fujin questioned. The man slowly stops waving his hands around and it is none other than Seamus Lee.

"I suppose not. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Seamus Lee. The new top commander of the Red Dragon. I succeeded Lang Cho after he died. He was murdered in cold blood by your Shirai Ryu friends." Seamus Lee greets himself.

"I have heard about him. He has brought his own fate upon himself. He tried to murder Takeda and Jacquline. And with him, his leader Dogron." Fujin states.

"He wanted to recreate Earthrealm in his and Daegon's own image with the Shirai Tablet. Takahashi could have let them live, but no. They chose not to show mercy, omitting their moral codes." Seamus Lee replied with some anger in his voice.

"And I should be getting this from someone that's part of the clan who wants to murder everyone in all realms?" Fujin said, pointing out his hypocrisy. "I can easily tell you are on a dark path. One where there is no coming back from. I would suggest you leave now, or you share your friend's fate, Seamus Lee." Of course, he will not back down. In fact, this actually makes him laugh out loud at his threats.

"Do you honestly believe that me, the best fighter of the Red Dragon behind Daegon himself, should be afraid of a god? What Daegon has always told all of us: The Red Dragon makes blood spill. No matter how." Seamus Lee said as he challenges him.

"So be it then, Seamus Lee." Fujin said as they begin to fight. Fujin summons the wind and pushes it towards Seamus Lee, but much to his surprise, he leaps out of the way. Fujin shoots two more powerful shots, which he ducks and rolls away from both of them. He then puts his hands together and his hands glow a dark purple and shoots a magical attack at his feet which Fujin jumps and dodges, but then he throws a chemical in the air and it explodes, nearly blinding the god. He clears the smoke away with his wind, but Seamus Lee is nowhere to be found. Seamus Lee appears on his left and swing kicks him in the left waist followed by an elbow strike to the left shoulder. Fujin slides down but uses the wind to regain his footing. Seamus Lee then throws several bombs with some magic, which Fujin uses the wind to harmlessly push them away to good distances as they explode. Seamus Lee runs, jumps and kicks, but Fujin grabs his ankle and throws him in a 360 degree circle, sending him backwards. As he recovers, he was too late to react to Fujin flying towards him and knees Seamus Lee in the chest followed by a palm strike to the face and kick to the chest, cracking it and sending him back even further.

Seamus Lee gets up and wipes his mouth covered in some blood. He brings out a bow and some arrows wrapped in paper bombs and fires three at a time. Fujin counters this by firing his own arrows with his light crossbow, destroying all of them. Seamus Lee then throws more than several chemicals in the air which all explode at the same time. Fujin leaps backwards, but is met by a strike to the back by a dark magic projectile, sending him down. Fujin draws his sword as does Seamus Lee. They clash rapidly for several seconds until Fujin attempts to chop strike him, but Seamus Lee ducks and roundhouse kicks him in the head, sending him rolling down. Fujin flies in the air and shoots more arrows from his crossbow, which Seamus Lee deflects with his sword. Fujin comes back down with his sword and they clash. Fujin chops part of his collarbone, partly cracking it, and making Lee grit his teeth. He attempts to headbutt Fujin, but he grabs his head and pushes him back, and frontflips forward, kicks his ankle, breaking it, kicking his face hard, cracking the front of his skull, spins his arms, making Seamus spin in place out of control and Fujin shoots him in the shoulders with his crossbow, sending him down, bleeding and defeated.

"You are a strong foe for someone within the Red Dragon. I must say I am impressed." Fujin said.

"Like I said. I am the top commander. I trained myself in all positions of the Red Dragon. I succeeded where Cho could not. I was smart enough to do that." Seamus Lee said. Then he starts chuckling. It was loud enough for Fujin to pick up.

"Is there something funny about your defeat at my hands? Your loss has brought you nothing but your own blood spilling and the cost of your own men. Apparently you have not learned from your mistake." Fujin said. This only makes Seamus Lee smile.

"You may have always been a wise god, Fujin. But not that wise. Regardless of whether or not I could defeat you, I was only a distraction." Seamus Lee chuckles more as a red portal opens below him and he falls through. And it closes within a second. Fujin quickly runs over to the Jinsei…. And it looks fine. This confuses the god of wind even more. It doesn't seem like Seamus Lee was even trying to steal or corrupt the Jinsei. When he remembered what Lee said, his eyes widened and realized he has been tricked.

"By the gods. No!" Fujin exclaimed as he starts running out of the Grotto and starts to fly out of the Academy. But where?

Among the cold mountains, the Lin Kuei and the Shaolin Monks discuss events that have been transpiring lately. First the return of the Black Dragon and Red Dragon clans, then the Kamidogu and the next resurrection of Shao Kahn and he and Daegon teaming up. To make matters worse, Taven, who has come from his slumber, confirms that it is from his father's visions.

"Things are going by fast. Really fast and it is not good. Raiden told me and Liu Kang about the visions he had in the Old Era. He saw glimpses of those artifacts from his future self. But the question is how will Taven be important to help us?" Kung Lao asks, having some doubt about Taven.

"But if what Taven says is true, then that means we must remain on guard. So far everything else has happened. The two enemy clans return, the Kamidogu reappearing, and Shao Kahn and Daegon teaming up. We have seen evil alliances like that before, but this by far has to be the worst." Frost said, feeling stern about the change of events that are starting to unfold.

"First he allies with Kronika, then Geras and now Daegon. How many more enemies must Shao Kahn rely on to gain what he wants?" Smoke asked in confusion.

"Shao Kahn is far from a coward, but he is too arrogant to admit his own ego. It has led to his downfall many times before." Kung Jin stated.

"But yet even with help from the Cyber Lin Kuei, Shinnok and all of Outworld before they all betrayed him, he still proves to be the most dangerous being that's ever existed. Because unlike Kronika, he refuses to stay dead." Frost said.

"We have to do something about it. We cannot just sit here and do nothing." Cyrax points out.

"Patience, Cyrax. We cannot leave without a plan. I have some of my best men looking out for anything regarding Shao Kahn's forces or the Red Dragon. I have been told that the Special Forces are safeguarding their Kamidogu. The general and colonel will go after that if they need to. I do not know where it is and neither does anyone else." Frost reminds him.

As the teachers and followers talk, the students, being Kung Gen and Aster, are busy training with each other while getting to know each other more. Aster is using her signature iced naginata weapon. Kung Gen on the other hand is using a katana sword. Aster thrusts her weapon forward which Kung Gen blocks with her katana sword, they continue to trade blows with each other. Aster tends to swing the stick part of her weapon to trip her, but Kung Gen jumps over her and tries to strike her from behind, only for Aster to sweep her from under, but Gen kicks her backwards by the chin, stumbling her. Gen strikes her on the head with a chop and then tries to knock her down with the end of her sword, but Aster parries it away harmlessly, grabs her weapon and they point their weapons at each other's throats. They both breathe as they both see that they have reached a stalemate… that was until Aster freezes Gen's leg and elbows and punches her chest, defeating her.

"I must say. For someone who is new within the Shaolin Monks, I think you are not too bad." Aster praises her.

"Well I can say the same to you. The new Sub-Zero has taught you well. I did not think that there would be many more cryomancers. I have read many stories about the powers and clan. I study a lot about other realms and other clans and races." Kung Gen said.

"And I have heard stories about the Monks. The Great Kung Lao being chosen by the god of fire and lightning. Known for defeating Goro and becoming a champion in Mortal Kombat. And your great uncle is taking up the mantle." Aster said.

"I want to be more like him and Uncle Jin. Whenever I am not training, I spend a lot of my time reading, studying. I prefer to prepare for any situation that may come, including fighting in combat." Kung Gen tells her. Aster could tell she's doing a good thing. Gaining knowledge from books is one thing, but learning combat is another thing.

"I see your point. Grandmaster Sub-Zero has taught me all of that is good. But learning combat takes more than books. It takes actual personal experience when on the field. I speak the truth." Aster replied.

"How so?" Kung Gen asked out of curiosity.

"Because I remember how I met Frost. Kuai Liang has told me about her. About her redemption and change of heart. The good things she has done for everyone, including sacrificing herself and becoming a cyborg against her will and regaining it. And the things she went through three years later with the surprise return of Sektor, who transformed into Triborg. We were caught off guard by what he could do, which cost us our friend. But with training and more personal gain she learned from Triborg, and with becoming the new Sub-Zero, Frost was able to overpower and kill Triborg." Aster said.

She remembered the rather tragic story of the death of Kuai Liang and the things Frost was going through, with many seeing her as an enemy and doubted her, and others that saw potential in her.

"I see. I guess not all knowledge does come from books after all. I am a bookworm and always will be, but I see your point. But one thing I must know, how did you meet Frost?" Kung Gen asked, while nodding to her advice.

"Before our final confrontation with the Cyber Initiative, Frost was having serious doubts about her abilities. About failing her clan and friends. But she learned that everyone was alive and I was the first to introduce myself. I idolized Frost and wanted to be like her. Frost regained her confidence and knew she was the only one who could lead the clan and of course succeeded." Aster explained.

Kung Gen listened carefully to her advice and saw that she was telling the truth. She now knows that experience comes in different ways. From books and from personal views. Kung Gen only hoped to have the best experience within the Monks.

"I see your point. I always thought that I would always become prepared for the possible worst. I was hoping that I would help the Monks, including Kung Lao and Jin. I was told about the timelines and want to help prevent major deaths within the family. Not only that, but I want to help keep the family name alive as long as generations to come." Kung Gen said.

"There is nothing wrong with reading and gaining knowledge. You are doing the right thing. But experience must also come from real life. If you do that, then that will be your best chance of survival." Aster smiles, putting a hand on her shoulder. Kung Gen smirks and nods to her new friend. Aster nods back. Unknown to Gen, Aster has a feeling of her own fear. Fear of letting down her own master Frost and bringing nothing but dishonor to the Lin Kuei. But Aster was quick enough to hide the fear from Kung Gen. Gen thought she could see what was on her mind, they are confronted by their masters.

"Kung Lao. What is it?" Kung Gen asked as she and Aster bow their heads to their masters.

"It's the Wu Shi Dragon Grotto. It was attacked by the Red Dragon." Frost tells them. Aster and Kung Gen look at each other out of fear of what may happen to Earthrealm's life source.

"Is Lord Fujin alright?" Kung Gen asked.

"He's heading his way towards his temple. The attack on the school was only a distraction. Lord Fujin wants us to head out immediately." Kung Lao tells Gen, who then turns to Aster.

"It was nice meeting you, Chujin Aster. Hopefully we will meet again." Kung Gen smiles to her.

"We will. I know for sure." Aster gives a friendly nod. Kung Gen leaves with her teachers as they start heading back to their own territory and hopefully meet with Fujin to help him as quickly as possible. That was until a green portal opens, swiftly causing the heroes to go into fighting positions.

"Who could that be?!" Cyrax glared at whoever is coming.

"Could it be Shao Kahn or Daegon?" Kung Jin asked. Fortunately, it's neither of them. Unfortunately, it's someone that is just about as bad as them. The first one to step out of the portal is none other than Mileena. Following her are Tanya, Ferra/Torr and Chameleon, one of the new recruits.

"Guess who, you arrogant Shaolin Monk?!" Mileena snarls and smirks at her enemies. She takes off her mask and sticks out her long tongue, hanging from her teeth.

"Mileena. Shao Kahn's unstable, bastard daughter. Lounged around for years in hell and now you decide to come back." Frost calls her out.

"I'm no one's bastard, Lin Kuei! I am the one true daughter! Better than Kitana!" Mileena growls in anger.

"Surprised you decided to come here and try to cause trouble for us. Yet you are a fool to do it. You may try us. Don't even think that you are getting out of this one without broken bones." Kung Lao said as he and Frost challenged her.

"Oh, I'm willing to bet on it, Kung Lao. Just wait I stabby stab your face and eat my favorite snacks, being your eyes. As they will be the last thing you will see." Mileena said as she fights Frost and Kung Lao. While they do so. Cyrax and Smoke fight Chameleon, and Aster and Kung Gen fight Tanya. Kung Jin fights Ferra/Torr.

Mileena throws both of her sais, which Frost reacts by throwing two icicles from her hands and they collide and both fall to the ground. Mileena quickly teleports behind Frost and hops on her back and bites part of her left shoulder off, causing Frost some pain. Kung Lao throws his hat at her, forcing Mileena off of the Lin Kuei Grandmaster. Frost caresses her shoulder and uses her ice powers to partially heal it. Mileena licks her teeth and giggles, enjoying the taste of flesh. She summons her twin sais back. Frost shoots small, sharp icicles from her hand, and Mileena jumps over them and attempts to attack her, only for Frost to roll to the side and knee her in the right rib cage, chop her right shoulder, and back kicks the back of her head, sending her to Kung Lao. He spins into Mileena, sending her flying and he jumps up, sends a strong kick to her stomach, making Mileena spit out blood as she is sent flying down. Kung Lao delivers fast punches and a strong elbow strike to the forehead, cracking it before jumping off. Mileena rolls forward and tries to stand Lao, but he jumps and kicks her in the head, stumbling her. He knocks her sais out of her hand with his hat and spin kicks her twice in the chest, sending her back.

Mileena snarls and gets back up. She cartwheels forward and both dodge, but she starts swinging her weapons at Frost, who defends herself with an ice sword. Frost is disarmed of her weapon and she is double kicked backwards in the face. Kung Lao rolls forward and tries to slice her legs off, but Mileena blocks it with her sais and elbows him in the forehead followed by a kick. She then charges and slashes his legs with her sais, injuring him and knees him in the jaw and throws him. Mileena then charges forward and teleports. Kung Lao stands and guards himself, but Mileena appears in front of him and grabs his neck with her legs and throws him down, back first. She smirks and was about to thrust her sais down into his eyes, until Frost shoots two ice balls at her wrists, freezing them in place. Mileena looks up and sees Frost jumps towards her and uses two ice lances and partly stabs her shoulders, causing her pain. Frost then backhand strikes Mileena across the face followed by a punch and a eagle kick to the head, sending her to the ground, defeated.

"All you see is darkness, Mileena. Just like you always do." Kung Lao roasts her before attending to Frost. "Are you alright?"

"I am fine, Kung Lao. I have been through worse." Frost said, nodding to him out of relief. Meanwhile, Cyrax and Smoke continue to fight Chameleon.

"You know nothing about us. We strive to survive. We pick the mightiest of leaders to lead us. And Mileena has chosen wisely. I am Chameleon. I adapt to any ninja. Any environment that you see." Chameleon said. His appearance now changes to that of ice blue, matching the colors of the original Sub-Zero.

"You may have Sub-Zero's appearance, but not his powers. Or the current Sub-Zero. New tricks will not help you." Smoke said, glaring at him.

"We learned from our mistake last time. We will not repeat it against you, Chameleon." Cyrax said, remembering all of Triborg's abilities. They resume fighting him.

Chameleon goes into the stance of a crane bird. He then double crane kicks forward, but both ninjas easily dodge, but Chameleon reverse sidekicks Cyrax across the face, before sliding forward and does a shoulder bash followed by a knee to the chest and kick to the stomach, sending Cyrax back. Smoke appears in front of Chameleon and they both fight each other swiftly while changing between offense and defense. That was until Smoke grabs his foot when he attempted to crane kick him and pushes it and him away. Smoke jumps and kicks him straight in the back. Smoke then elbows and punches the back of his head, then chop strikes his lower spine, cracking it. Chameleon wipes the green blood from his mouth and nose and elbows his chin followed by an uppercut and kicks him in the chest five times while in the air, sending him backwards.

Smoke slides backwards and gets back up with help from Cyrax. They nod and know they have to end this. Cyrax throws micro bombs, which Chameleon destroys with his ninja sword. His appearance then changes to that of Ermac and shoots green energy, which both of them dodge. Then his appearance changes to that of yellow, similar to Scorpion and disappears like a ball of fire. He appears from behind Smoke and then kicks him in the back followed by a palm strike, sending him sliding down. Cyrax and Chameleon exchange swings and clashes with their respective wrist blades and ninja sword. Chameleon's sword gets caught in the middle of his wrist blade and when he twists his wrist, his ninja sword breaks and Cyrax sends two strong kicks to his chest, cracking it. Chameleon growls and is thrown backwards by Smoke. Chameleon sends another energy wave at Smoke, but he teleports and punches his stomach, teleports again and grabs him from behind and does a suplex, cracking his skull and he faces the floor on his chest and when he tries to get up, Smoke sends a strong kick to his face, breaking his skull and making him bleed greatly. Smoke takes his chance. He jams two fingers through Chameleon's eyes and skull and injects it with smoke. As he stands back, Chameleon's body starts feeling hot from the inside, suffering from extreme heat. The heat begins to percolate his body from the inside and his flesh melts and blood starts gushing out of the remains of his body, most of it covered in blood and part of his skull and upper body exposed as bones. Chameleon is dead.

"When there is Smoke, there is fire." Smoke quotes as he and Cyrax look over his dead body. Over elsewhere, the two young students continue to fight Tanya and seem to be having quite a hard time.

"Two young children playing kombat. How pitiful. This will be easy enough for me." Tanya stated, feeling confident.

"You mess with one, you mess with everyone. Including the Lin Kuei." Aster said, defending herself.

"And the Shaolin Order of Light." Kung Gen said as the two get back to their feet.

"Children. I fight children. They're just the worst kind of Earthrealmers I have ever come across in my life." Tanya said before they resume fighting.

Tanya brings out sharp tonfas before she charges them. She slashes them at Kung Gen, who fights back with her katana sword. They lock in weapons until Gen smiles and jumps out of the way, and Tanya gets knocked back by an ice ball shot by Aster. She nearly loses her footing and Gen lands behind her and punches the back of her neck followed by slamming it with her endpoint of her sword and side kicks her in the right rib cage, making it crack and Tanya spits up some blood. Tanya gestures to her wound and stares at the two students menacingly. Tanya smirks before suddenly teleporting next to Aster and attempts to slice her face open, but she quickly summons ice around her hands, protecting her before it breaks. Aster fights back with icicles before Tanya breaks them with her tonfas and double kicks her across the chest twice, nearly sending her over the edge of the temple. Luckily, Aster summons an ice blade and stabs the wall, breaking her fall. Gen, after looking on worried, grits her teeth in anger and ducks a tonfa swing, cuts her right knee, making it bleed, slamming the endpoint up her jaw, cracking it and swing kicks her, but misses, allowing Tanya to chop her on the right side of the head, in the chest, and uppercuts the chest, sending Kung Gen flying before Tanya teleports and slams both on her back, sending her down, cracking her chest and back.

Aster comes back and swings her naginata at Tanya, but she grabs the weapon, hits her forehead twice with the same weapon and backhand strikes her, stumbling her. Tanya then palm strike's Aster's face, kicks her chin and uppercuts her chest, making Aster's chest crack, blood coming up and she gets sent down, defeated. All that was left was Kung Gen. She runs up behind Tanya and swings her katana at her, but Tanya blocks it, only to be met with a swing kick across the head and another to the left rib cage, making it almost break and Tanya screams in pain. Kung Gen stabs her right thigh, making it bleed, and jumps and roundhouse kicks her head, defeating Tanya. She falls unconscious.

Kung Gen falls to her knees from exhaustion. As she catches her breath, she slowly gets up and goes to check up on Aster, worried about her new friend. "My friend. Are you hurt? Please say something." Gen pleads, holding her hand. Aster starts taking slow breaths and much to Gen's relief, Aster wakes up. She has bruises on part of her face, one under her eye and some blood on her mouth and some teeth.

"G-Gen? Are you okay?" Aster said weakly.

"I should be asking you that. That was a close call, wasn't it?" Kung Gen said, making Aster smirk briefly and weakly.

"Y-yeah. I'll be alright. Thank you. I-I am grateful." Aster said. She coughs as Kung Gen carries her to a safe place away from the battle. Gen lays next to her as she also rests from her battle against Tanya. Meanwhile, Kung Jin continues to face Ferra/Torr.

"Ahh! Ferra and Torr had enough toying. Ferra and Torr want to play rough. Play rough and bathe in Monk blood." Ferra said, growling out of a bit of boredom.

"I thought you loved fighting. Besides, what happened to liking Kotal? Decided that Shao Kahn would bring more for you to play and break." Kung Jin mockingly asked.

"Kotal weak Kahn. Shao Kahn is strong Kahn. Kotal got boring, say no no to killing. Ferra and Torr remember deaths from old time! Kotal will pay!" Ferra swears vengeance on Kotal.

"Well if you just went with his rules, then he wouldn't have executed you both. You brought that upon yourself." Kung Jin points out.

"Ferra and Torr will bring beating!" Ferra yells as they resume fighting.

Torr tosses Ferra to Jin's foot, only for him to kick Ferra right back at Torr's face and she quickly hops onto his back again. Kung Jin jumps and swings his bow staff down on Torr's head, swings his sharp chiram across his chest making it bleed and punches him across the face and swings his bow staff upwards his chin followed by a kick to the face, sending Ferra/Torr sliding. Before Jin can do another swing, Torr blocks the staff, kicks him in the chest, does two back hand strikes across it, making Jin slide backwards. Ferra jumps off Torr and spins vertically with her blades out, but Kung Jin jumps backwards and fires a few arrows at her. Ferra dodges all of them and jumps to stab Jin, but he slams the small endpoint of his staff into Ferra's gut, sending her backwards. Kung Jin throws a chiram, which Ferra deflects, but is met with a bow staff to the jaw, cracking it and kicked in the chest and sent flying, but is caught by Torr. Torr charges at Jin, but he jumps over him, but not without getting a couple of slashes to the left leg by Ferra, and Jin lands, a little hurt. Jin sees a loose stone pillar and quickly pulls it out of the ground, and swings it on Torr's head, cracking it and swings it in his face, nearly breaking the front of his skull and is sent to a wall, crashing into it and Ferra. They both fall to the ground defeated.

"I'm sorry. Did you say bring the beating or be beaten?" Kung Jin roasts them as they are just barely awake.

The villains were rounded up. Mileena snarls at them in anger like an insane Tarkatan. Ferra struggles to get up, but Torr lays there unconscious on top of her body. Tanya remains out cold as they are watched over by Lin Kuei guards. "Your mistake was coming here to mess with us, Mileena. As insane as you are, you should have thought of something better than that." Frost said to her. But then, Mileena starts laughing. "Did I say something funny?"

"You did. As far as I am crazy, at least I plan ahead this time." Mileena replied, giggling like a schoolgirl.

"What the hell do you mean?!" Frost demands, tightening her fists.

"Because we were only distracting you. It never mattered at all whether or not we kill you. Because by the time you get there, you're too late. You'll be licking wounds like the dogs you are." Mileena evilly laughs before she, Ferra/Torr and Tanya fall through a portal. Frost and Kung Lao quickly look at each other as they realize they were too late

"No! The Sky Temple!" Kung Lao pointed out.

"What do you mean?" Aster said, voice still a little weak.

"The greatest source of the Jinsei. Fujin is heading there right now." Kung Lao replied to her. The others quickly share the same look of horror on their faces as they quickly begin to understand what Mileena said. With the majority of them injured, they can only pray that Fujin isn't too late.

Fujin was soaring through the sky. He was flying as fast as possible to his Sky Temple. The god of wind could only hope he's not too late. As he looks down, there is no one around. No Red Dragon or any monsters of some sort. As he lands at the edge of the temple, he gets contacted by his allies. "Kung Lao. Kung Jin. Kung Gen. What has happened?" Fujin asked, noticing their injuries.

"Mileena and some of her followers attacked us. They ambushed us, but the Lin Kuei killed some of her undead and we defeated her. But she stated that she was just distracting us. The question is for what though?" Kung Lao reported to him.

Fujin slowly makes his way inside the Sky Temple. He looks in there and sees someone messing with the Jinsei source. "Because she wanted whoever is in there to not be outmatched by so many of us. Do not worry. The monks will back me up just in case. For now, return to the academy and heal up. I will return after I deal with whoever this person is." Fujin tells them.

The three monks bow their heads to him as he walks in and sees a man waving his hands around while glowing purple and collects dozens of viles filled with Jinsei. "I knew you would come back here. It was foolish of you to leave your temple with the most powerful life source of Earthrealm. Be thankful that the source here is infinite." Mavado said, turning around to face him.

"Mavado, I assume. From what I was told, you died at the hands of Cassandra Cage in the Old Era. It is no surprise that you did not stray from the Red Dragon." Fujin glared at him.

"My fate is my own. I owe everything to Master Daegon. The son of Takahashi and his wife were foolish enough to not come after me when they killed Dogron. After receiving my memories from Skarlet, I decided to learn from my mistake. I am not the same Mavado as I was before." Mavado said, snapping his fingers and the doors shut, preventing anyone from getting in or out.

"And what mistake will that be? Do not think that you will escape so easily and underestimate me. You are no match. Stand down and hand over the Jinsei. They do not belong to you." Fujin said, getting ready to fight.

"If you want it, come and get it." Mavado evilly smirks before they fight.

Mavado comes in with an elbow strike, a knee strike and a kick which Fujin was able to block. He attempted to strike Fujin in the collarbone followed by a kick and a chop strike to the head, but Fujin grabs the strike. He then pushes it away, does a punch to the right shoulder, in the chest, a kick strike to the left knee and a strong wind kick to the chest, making Mavado roll backwards. Mavado jumps forward with a flip and manages to land a chop to the right shoulder, kick to the chest followed by a knee strike. Fujin slides backwards, but keeps his footing. Fujin quickly pulls Mavado in with the wind and does a kick to his neck, making him spit up blood and kicks him in the forehead, making him slide down. Mavado looks up and chuckles lightly. His hands start glowing purple once more as he suddenly teleports beside Fujin and punches the right side of his face, on his head, and does a crane kick strike to the right rib cage and suddenly grabs Fujin with his magic and throws him down to the ground, chest first.

"By the gods. You have learned magic?!" Fujin said, shocked. He knew Mavado before, but he also knows that he was not originally capable of magic.

"Courtesy of Skarlet when Sektor sent her that book. Shared its power with me. I also had help from Lord Daegon. Surprised?" Mavado smirked.

"If you are trying to impersonate the likes of Shang Tsung or Quan Chi, then I am not impressed." Fujin mocks him. Mavado growls quietly.

"We shall see if my practiced magic can outwit your god magic, wind god." Mavado said as they resumed. Fujin draws his sword to help defend himself. Mavado swings his arms to fire magic at him, which Fujin deflects with his sword and they go hitting the walls of the temple, making holes. Mavado swings his magic protected hands to counter his sword. He raises his hands up to stop his sword in place. Mavado pulls one hand back and slams it onto his sword, knocking it back and it breaks into two. Despite this, Fujin was not turned. He flies backwards with the wind, ready to defend himself. Mavado puts his hands together and slams them into the ground. Something purple glows beneath the wind god's feet and he quickly rolls out the way before it goes off, blowing a hole into the ceiling. Mavado fires a magic beam at Fujin, who quickly summons a tornado and pushes it forward, and Mavado's blast goes back to him, which Mavado narrowly dodges. He snaps his fingers again and a purple blast hits Fujin from behind, damaging his back and is sent towards Mavado. He waves his hands and sends Fujin into the ceiling, slamming him. Fujin was able to get to a knee, and when Mavado was about to execute him, Fujin grabs his crossbow and shoots Mavado through the chest, causing him pain and covers his own wound as blood comes out. Fujin takes a long arrow, jumps and thrusts it through his left shoulder, nearly breaking it, uses the wind to push him to a wall, nearly breaking his back and back of his skull. Mavado stumbles forward, allowing Fujin to do one more knee strike to his kaw, defeating Mavado.

"Practiced magic followed your pride will not save you. One day it will be your downfall." Fujin stated. "Now tell me why you come here for the Jinsei?" He demands.

Mavado chuckles lightly before he started laughing. "You know, for a wise god of wind, Fujin, you certainly not as smart as you think you are."

"What are you babbling on about?" Fujin said in anger.

"Because while my magic can match yours, I was only a diversion. I just needed to weaken you enough to do this!" Mavado snaps his fingers and then suddenly, two portals open beneath both him and the dozens of viles of jinsei as they fall through. Fujin tried to pull them back up, but was too late.

"No." Fujin's eyes widened at the horror. One of Earthrealm's enemies have managed to get away with more than enough jinsei and retreat to the Netherrealm. But one thing still does not add up. Why would Shao Kahn and Daegon send Mavado to get the Jinsei? What for?

Note: I hope you guys liked the fighting sequences this chapter. It's been a while. I loved writing Fujin's. Man I wish he could come back in the New Era. Maybe someday. And I changed Mavado to be more magical in this universe rather than being a semi-clone of Kabal. While I like his Kameo, I'm not a fan of his or Ferra's fatalities, but that's just me, lol.
