Making Amends

Then

Screaming can be heard throughout an elegant apartment followed by some crying.

Sera now sits up in bed, out of breath, with disheveled hair, and cradling something in her arms.

"Look at you," the High Seraphim coos at the little bundle. "You're so precious," the crying starts to die down. "All I want to do is share you with everyone," the woman kisses the bundle before shedding a tear. "But I can't tell anyone and for that I'm sorry. But let me be the first to welcome you to Heavan, Emily."

.oOo.

Now

A cloak wearing Sera is brought out of her thoughts as the door to the Embassy opens and in walks the Self banished Seraphim herself. Aside from being put off by the change of attire, she is happy to see her.

"Emily," the High Seraphim gets up to walk up to the younger Seraphim. "I thought you were going to ignore me again."

"Don't get me wrong, Sera," Emily frowns while looking away. "I'm still upset with you. But no matter how you look at it, sister or mother, we're still family. And family at least deserves a chance to hear one another out. Not that you've treated me as such."

That saddens Sera to hear that. "Emily, I…" she then pauses and glances behind the younger Seraphim. "How have you been doing? Does your back still hurt?"

At that, the girl scoffs. "Like you actually care! If you did you'd be here in person instead of hiding behind some hologra…" Emily's eyes widen at the feel of a hand caressing her face.

"I am here, Emily," Sera then hugs her. "And I am sorry for not being the mother that you deserve."

Emily breaks away from her. "Why?"

"Because I don't deserve you."

"No! Why have me!?" the Fallen Seraphim starts tearing up. "You committed one of the most forbidden acts that an Angel could! You performed a miracle on yourself all to have me! Why!?"

Sera nods, now understanding that all Emily wants are answers. "I led Heavan for thousands of years. Making sure that everything ran perfectly. But after all that time, I felt that I was missing something. Then one day, while checking on Earth, my attention was brought to the image of a new mother holding their child for the first time. That's when I realized that I was missing you," the High Seraphim runs a hand through Emily's hair. "But being the High Seraphim, I had to lead by example and remain pure. So, I compromised myself and my beliefs in that one moment. It may have been selfish of me to have you. And to hide who you really are to me. But not once have I ever regretted that action. The day you were born brought me the most joy I've felt in a very long time. I forgot that. But that doesn't change the fact that you're my daughter. I, however, have a long way to go before I can call myself your mother."

Emily closes her eyes tightly before running up to Sera for a hug. "I think, you're on your way there."

"Thank you, Emily," Sera then walks over to the table to take a seat and gestures her daughter to do the same. "So, how have you been?"

The Fallen Seraphim recalls everything from when she first arrived in Hell and past the last time they saw one another. Starting with her first time out in Hell and getting rescued by the Queen herself and her time at the beach, leaving Sera happy that the girl had someone watching out for her. Emily then started talking about her first drink, which concerned the High Seraphim but is relieved that she agreed to never do so again. The young Seraphim then got excited talking about her new outfit and how much she loved it. Emily then was more than happy to talk about what happened during Picture Day. Sera became worried at the part where her daughter learned to fight but understands that she hopes to never need to and that it's just a precaution. Then, they came to the most recent event.

"You're managing the Hotel!?"

"Well, kinda," Emily explains. "I'm just the Assistant Manager but I run things whenever Charlie and Vaggie are unavailable," she looks down. "I know that you still don't have much hope for what the Hotel stands for and what they're trying to do. But we have so many more guests now. A lot of demons are willing to make a change. To have a chance at having something better. Though, if it wasn't for Pentious, I doubt any of them would have believed it to be possible."

"Speaking of," Sera starts. "I would like to apologize to Sir Pentious personally for treating him so poorly when he arrived in Heaven."

The Fallen Seraphim smiles. "Perhaps I'll bring him around next time?"

"And also, your friend, Cherri Bomb. I would like to thank her for taking care of you in my absence," the High Seraphim then wears a small sad smile. "It sounds like you found a proper family here. A family that you deserve."

"I think… you deserve a family to," Emily gets up to walk over to the older woman. "We both have a long way to go, but I still want you to be a part of my life," she then hugged her as tight as she could. "I love you, Sera and maybe one day I could call you mom." Then, the Fallen Seraphim backs away. "Now, I better get going. I didn't really tell Cherri that I was coming over here and she tends to be overprotective. She may have sworn off gang wars, but I really think she'd start one if she believes it'll help me."

Sera smiles and shakes her head. "Sounds like you better get going then," she then gets another hug.

"How soon can I see you again? In person, I mean."

The High Seraphim blinks before returning the hug. "All you have to do is call and I promise that I will drop everything to be here for you. Not a hologram. Me."

Emily then gives a tight squeeze as if she's afraid this would be the last time they'd be able to hug. "Thank you, Sera," the two says their goodbyes just before Emily leaves.

Sera smiles and waves goodbye to her daughter and just as the door closes, the Seraphim lets out a hiss of pain before letting her cloak drop, revealing the back of her white gown stained with gold.

"Even now," she leans over the desk to help keep steady. "I'm still lying to you."

At that moment, an image flickered in front of her, and the Seraphim looked up to glare at Adam, fully robed, halo floating above him and wearing his mask.

"I thought that whiney little b(bleep)ch would never leave."

Sera glares at the First Man, "That's my daughter you're talking about!"

"Yeah, yeah! Whatever!" some chicken wings appeared in front of him and starts eating away nonchalantly. "I'm surprised you didn't tell her anything."

The Saraphim turns away. "I couldn't."

Adam smirks. "Because you want me to spare her from what's coming?" he laughs knowing he's right. "A deal's a deal. Your bastard will not be harmed and when everything's all said and done, the two of you will be able to live on as a happy little family. Now, then," the food disappears as the First Man walks away. "I'm out. I gotta make some plans and some plans to make. Hope you enjoy what little life this realm would be able to give you," his image then flickers before vanishing.

Sera looks away, full of regret and fearing what might happen next. "I'm sorry, Emily."
