Seaward Cave and Kala'e Bay
It was the end of another day at the Alola Pokemon School. Lincoln, Lynn Jr, and their cousins exited their classroom.
"Well, another school day come and gone." said Lincoln.
"At least we learned more new stuff." said Shane.
"And we should have a good time for a while; I heard Chandler got an hour of after school detention for setting his Rattata loose in the girls bathroom." said Lynn.
"Will he ever learn?" asked Shelby.
"I doubt he's capable of learning anything." replied Lincoln. "Let's head back to our hotel room so I can check on my Pokemon egg."
"Sure, Lincoln." said Shiloh.
The Louds head back to the hotel they were staying at and go into their room where Lincoln goes to where he left his Pokemon Egg to check on it.
"Looks perfectly fine." said Lincoln.
"What should we do now?" asked Shiloh.
"Can we check out that Melemele Meadow place you showed us before?" asked Shelby.
"I don't see why not." said Lincoln.
"Maybe we can find some new Pokemon for ourselves." said Shane.
"Good idea." said Lincoln. "Let me grab my egg first." He puts his Pokemon Egg in his backpack and covers it all over with soft towels to give it some padding.
The Louds then leave the hotel and make their way to Melemele Meadow; as they head through Hau'oli City, they see their Alola friends running over to them.
"Alola, everyone!" said Mallow in a cheerful voice.
"Alola!" the Louds say in response.
"What are you all up to?" asked Sophocles.
"We're heading over to Melemele Meadow." said Shelby.
"Can we come with?" asked Mallow. "I need some more Yellow Nectar."
"We don't mind." said Lynn Jr.
"Thanks." said Mallow.
As the group head up Route 2, they hear someone running their way, making them look to see, to their displeasure, Chandler.
"Thought... you could... get a head start... on training... without me?" asked Chandler as he tries to catch his breath.
'What would you know about 'thought', considering you're not capable of even having one.' Lincoln thought to himself.
"Has it been an hour already?" asked Lynn with a smirk.
"Some people have no sense of humor." said Chandler who then notices Lillie and blushes. "Where are you all off to?"
"Melemele Meadow so our cousins can see what Pokemon are there; maybe even catch some." said Lynn Jr.
"I need some Pokemon for my team also." said Chandler.
"Fine." said Lynn Jr. "But you better not bug us or it's Camel Clutch City for you!"
"Whatever." said Chandler, making Lynn Jr snarl at him.
The group, and Chandler, continue to make their way up Route 2 towards their destination.
"Have you trained your Pokemon at all, Chandler?" asked Lincoln.
"Nah, but I suppose I should if I'm gonna crush you at that Alola League thing." said Chandler with a smirk.
"Do you even have an Island Challenge Amulet?" asked Lincoln.
"A what?" Chandler replied.
"To be allowed to enter the Alola League, you need an Island Amulet and do all the Island Trials in order to qualify." said Lincoln.
"You didn't think you could just walk up to a registration desk and simply sign up, did you?" asked Kiawe.
"Dang it." said Chandler.
"Fine." said Lincoln with exasperation. "We'll talk to Kahuna Hala and see about getting you one."
"Good." said Chandler. "I'll just train my Pokemon until you do." Just then, they hear some rustling from some nearby grass, making everyone look to see an Ekans crawling out from it.
"An Ekans." said Lincoln.
"Cool." said Shiloh.
"This one is mine." said Chandler with a grin as he takes out his Rattata's pokeball and lets him out of it. The Ekans suddenly glares and hisses at Chandler's Rattata, making it tremble.
"That Ekans must have the Intimidate ability." said Lincoln.
"What's that?" asked Chandler.
"It makes the attack strength of its opponent weaker." said Sophocles.
"Sweet; now I really want it." said Chandler. "Use, uh..., Tackle!" Rattata runs at the Ekans and rams it, not doing much. The Ekans responds by wrapping its body around Rattata and squeezing him.
"You might want to try a different Pokemon." suggested Alola Lana.
"Fine." said Chandler with a growl as he returns his Rattata to his pokeball; he puts it away and pulls his Tentacool's pokeball, then lets him out.
"And Rattata doesn't have to win a battle to gain experience." said Lillie. "Just has to be out in it without getting knocked out."
"Oh, that's good." said Chandler as he blushes from Lillie talking to him. The Ekans releases a barrage of needles from its mouth, hitting Tentacool, not doing much damage to him.
"That was Poison Sting." said Lincoln.
"Good thing for Chandler that Tentacool's part poison type, so he wasn't affected that much and won't get poisoned." said Alola Lana.
"Okay, Tentacool, use Acid!" said Chandler. Tentacool releases a spray of black liquid from his body that hits the Ekans, and even though it didn't have much effect on it, it still fell over on its back.
"Looks weak enough to catch now." said Kiawe. Chandler smirks as he takes out an empty pokeball and tosses it at the Ekans, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yes! I caught it!" said Chandler. Lincoln looks up Chandler's new Ekans on his Rotom Phone.
'A snake for a snake.' Lynn thinks to herself.
"Your Ekan's a girl, she knows Wrap, Leer, and Poison Sting; and like we figured, she has the Intimidate ability." said Lincoln. "And this says that your Rattata got enough experience from his battle to learn Quick Attack."
"At least Rattata got a bit stronger, I guess." said Chandler.
"Let's just keep going." said Mallow. The group continued to travel until they reached Route 3.
"Keep your eyes open for Spearows." said Lincoln.
"Spearows?" asked Chandler.
"These bird Pokemon; very fierce." said Lincoln.
"Sounds like a Pokemon I would like to have." replied Chandler. As he looks around, he sees a short, brown, bird Pokemon that looked like it was wearing a diaper made of bone, hopping around on the ground. "Is that a Spearow?"
"No, it's something else." said Lincoln, taking out his Rotom Phone and pointing it at the Pokemon.
"Vullaby, the Diapered Pokemon. Mandibuzz gives it the bones it wears. Vullaby's wings are short, so it can't fly yet, but it jumps around, dreaming of wide open skies." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
'A diapered Pokemon? Sounds like the perfect Pokemon for someone who should still be wearing diapers, assuming he's not.' Lynn thought to herself as she looked at Chandler.
"I guess I'll catch this one." said Chandler, pulling out a pokeball. "Rattata, go!" He throws Rattata's pokeball and releases him. "Use Tail Whip!" Rattata runs at Vullaby and wags his tail onto it, but it didn't seem to do anything.
"That didn't seem to do anything to Vullaby." said Mallow. The Vullaby flaps its wings and releases a gust of wind from them, hitting Rattata.
"Use that Quick Attack move!" said Chandler. Rattata charges at Vullaby with incredible speed and rams it, knocking it back. The Vullaby jumps at Rattata and jabs its beak into him, knocking him back.
"Use Tackle!" said Chandler. Rattata runs at Vullaby and rams it, knocking it to the ground. Chandler takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Vullaby, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around a few times until it clicked. "Sweet. I caught Vullaby."
"Congrats, I think." said Shane. Lincoln looks up Vullaby's information on his Rotom Phone.
"This says your Vullaby's part flying, part dark, its a girl, she knows Gust, Leer, Fury Attack and Pluck; she has the Big Pecks which prevents her defense from being weakened." said Lincoln.
"That's why Rattata's Tail Whip had no effect on her." said Mallow.
"Sweet." said Chandler.
"And according to my Rotom Phone, thanks to that battle, Rattata learned Focus Energy." said Lincoln.
"What does that do?" asked Chandler.
"Makes the next attack Rattata use do more damage than it normally would." replied Lynn with a frown.
"Nice." said Chandler. "This Pokemon stuff is getting cooler and cooler."
"At least he's enjoying this." said Shane.
"Maybe he'll become too busy to bug us." said Shelby.
"Let's get going." said Lincoln. The group continues down Route 3 until they reach the opening into Melemele Meadow; they go inside and the girls marvel at all the flowers in there.
"So beautiful." said Lillie before Chandler puts his arm around her shoulders, making her uncomfortable.
"Come on, you're way cuter than any flower." said Chandler. Lillie lifts Chandler's arm off her and drops it at this side.
"Let's check this place out a bit." said Shane. The group begins to explore the area, seeing all the kinds of Pokemon that lived in Melemele Meadow. Shiloh was checking out the cavern's wall when he sees a small tunnel opening in the wall that was hidden by some flowers.
"Hey, Lincoln; what's in here?" asked Shiloh, making the group look to see the opening.
"I don't know." said Lincoln. "I never noticed that when me and Mallow were here days ago."
"Should we check it out?" asked Shane.
"Sure." said Lincoln. "There might be Pokemon we haven't seen yet in there."
"Let's go!" said Shelby. The group crawl into the opening and soon enter a large cavern with multiple paths, small ponds, and a chilly atmosphere.
"It's chilly in here." said Lincoln.
"Never thought a tropical island would have a place like this." said Lynn. Lincoln feels a pair of arms wrap around him, making him look behind him to see they were Mallow's.
"We should huddle together for a little warmth." said Mallow, making Lincoln blush.
"Good idea." said Chandler as he moves closer to Lillie.
"It's not that bad in here." said Lynn.
"Let's hurry and check this place out." said Shane. The group explores and Shelby soon sees a bipedal Pokemon with yellow hair, dark pink head and lower body, cream-colored upper body and feet, and puckered lips.
"What's that?" asked Shelby with interest. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Smoochum, the Kiss Pokemon. When it examines things, before touching them with its hands, it makes lip contact and then diligently licks all the dirt off its lips." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"It's so cute!" said Shelby.
"Then you should catch it." said Lincoln.
"Okay." said Shelby as she takes out her Meowth's pokeball and lets her out of it.
"Good move." said Lincoln. "Smoochum is part psychic, so a dark type like Meowth would have an advantage."
"Meowth, use Fake Out!" said Shelby. Meowth quickly moves at the Smoochum and claps her hands together in front of its face, startling it, and making it fall over. "Now use Bite!" Her Meowth moves at the Smoochum and bites down on it, doing super effective damage and making it flinch.
"Try catching it now, Shelby." said Shane.
"Okay." said Shelby as she takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Smoochum, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Nice one, cuz!" said Lynn.
"Yayy! I caught Smoochum!" said Shelby. As she picks up her new Pokemon's pokeball, Lincoln looks up its information on his Rotom Phone.
"This says that Smoochums are only female. Yours knows Pound, Lick, Sweet Kiss, and Powder Snow; she has the Forewarn which lets you know her opponent's strongest move." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, Lincoln." said Shelby. After she returned Meowth to her pokeball, the group continued to explore the cave. As they did, Shelby sees what appeared to be a chunk of ice on the ground. Shelby picks it up. "What this?"
"It's ice." Chandler says while doing an eyeroll.
"I know what that is." said Alola Lana. "That's Never-Melt Ice; it increases the power of ice type moves of the Pokemon holding it."
"You should give that to Smoochum." said Lincoln. Before Shelby could pull out Smoochum's pokeball, she sees a shadow moving around a pool of water nearby. As she looks at it, a white, seal-like Pokemon with a horn on its head pokes its head out of the water.
"Hey, what's that?" asked Shelby. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Seel, the Sea Lion Pokemon. It has always been supposed that Seel live only in cold seas. Their having shown up in Alola is a mystery." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"I'm going to catch this one." said Shelby, pulling out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing her Meowth. "Okay, Meowth, use Fake Out!" Meowth leaps at Seel and claps her paws together, releasing a shockwave that hits Seel, damaging it and making it flinch. "Now use Scratch!" Meowth runs at Seel and scratches it with her claws. The Seel releases a gust of wind with sparkling snow from its mouth and it hits Meowth, damaging her, as well as lowering her speed. The Seel leaps out of the water and rams its head into Meowth, knocking her back.
"Meowth, use Bite!" said Shelby. Meowth leaps at Seel and bites it, damaging it, and making it flinch. "Now use Fury Swipes!" Meowth leaps at Seel and repeatedly claws it, damaging it, and knocking it to the ground.
"I think it's weak enough." said Lincoln. Shelby takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Seel, hitting it, and sucking it in. It wiggled around a few times until it clicked. Shelby picks up Seel's pokeball.
"Yay! I caught a Seel!" said Shelby, raising up Seel's pokeball.
"Congratulations, Shelby." said Lincoln. He uses his Rotom Phone to look up Seel's information. "This says your Seel's a boy, he knows Headbutt, Growl, Water Sport, Icy Wind, and Encore; he has the Hydration ability which cures him of status conditions when it's raining."
"Cool." said Shelby. She saw that her Meowth was holding something. "What you got, Meowth?" Meowth holds it out, revealing it to be a pokeball, but the top half was blue with two red lines. "What kind of pokeball is this?"
"That's a Great Ball." replied Sophocles. "They're much better than regular pokeballs."
"Wow." replied Shelby. She takes out Smoochum's pokeball and releases her from it, then Shelby gives her the Never-Melt Ice. Lynn was walking around the cave; as she was looking around, she sees what appeared to be a karate black belt, laying on the ground.
"Sweet; I know what this is." said Lynn.
"What is it?" asked Shiloh.
"An Expert Belt; makes super effective moves even stronger." replied Lynn. "I'm gonna give it to my Machop." She lets her Machop out of his pokeball and ties the Expert Belt around his waist, then returns him to his pokeball.
The group continues to explore when Lincoln and Shiloh each find a Star Piece.
"Awesome!" said Lincoln.
"What are these, Lincoln?" asked Shiloh.
"These are Star Pieces." said Lincoln.
"What's the big deal about some rocks?" asked Chandler.
"A Star Piece can be sold for 12,000 pokedollars at a store." said Lincoln.
"Awesome!" said Shiloh.
"Dang it; I wish I knew that." said Chandler. They all exit the cavern through an opening in the east part of the cave and enter a small bay.
"What's this place?" asked Lincoln.
"This is Kala'e Bay." said Alola Lana. Lincoln looks across the water and sees a few small islands in the middle of it.
"Is there anything on those islands?" asked Lincoln.
"Could be." said Alola Lana.
"Let's check them out." said Lynn. Lincoln takes out his Ride Pager and calls for a few Laprases to carry them over. Before Lynn got onto one, she spots a light blue, navy blue, and white pokeball nearby and picks it up.
"That's a Dive Ball." said Alola Lana. "They're very effective at catching Pokemon that live in the water."
"This looks like a good place to try it out." said Lynn.
"Here you go." Lincoln says as he hands his sister his fishing rod.
"Thanks, bro." said Lynn. She climbs onto Lapras and rides it around the bay. She casts the fishing pole line into the water; several seconds later, something starting pulling on the line. "Hey, I caught something!" She pulls the fishing line as hard as she could, pulling a light blue, fishlike Pokemon out of the water. "Hey, what's this Pokemon?" Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Remoraid, the Jet Pokemon. This Pokémon clings to Mantine and shares in its prosperity. When its Mantine is attacked, Remoraid will fight alongside it!" said the Rotom Phone. Lynn pulls out a pokeball.
"A Pokemon willing to fight alongside others; sounds like my kind of Pokemon." said Lynn. She throws Hawlucha's pokeball and releases him. "Hawlucha, Hone Claws!" Hawlucha's claws glowed red and orange energy surrounds him, strengthening his attack and accuracy. The Remoraid fires a multicolored beam of energy out of its mouth and it hits Hawlucha, dealing super effective damage.
"Hawlucha, use Aerial Ace!" said Lynn. Hawlucha flies at Remoraid while surrounded by white streaks of light and rams Remoraid. It fires a stream of water from its mouth and it hits Hawlucha.
"Hawlucha, use Wing Attack!" said Lynn. Hawlucha flies at Remoraid and strikes it with his wing, knocking it into the water; it floats up to the water's surface. Lynn takes out the Dive Ball and throws it at Remoraid, hitting it, and sucking it in. It wiggled around until it clicked. "Yeah! Remoraid's mine!" Lincoln looks up Remoraid's information.
"This says your Remoraid's a boy, he knows Water Gun, Lock On, Psybeam, and Aurora Beam; he has the Hustle ability like Chandler's Rattata." said Lincoln.
Chandler was riding another Ride Lapras, very slowly to a beach, whimpering until he reaches it; he jumps off Lapras and kisses the sand out of relief. He walks around the beach, looking around, when he sees something small poking out of the sand. He picks it up, revealing it to be a Pearl.
"Nice." said Chandler.
"That could be sold for 2,000 pokedollars." said Alola Lana.
"That sounds good." said Chandler with a smirk. Shane was looking around a small beach island when he spots a Big Pearl and picks it up.
"Check it out!" said Shane as he holds out his find.
"That's a Big Pearl." said Alola Lana. "That can be sold for 8,000 pokedollars."
"Wish I found that." said Chandler with a frown.
As Lincoln and Mallow look around a grassy area on an island, they see a light blue, bipedal Pokemon with a yellow lower jaw, small arms with no fingers, and three thick, gray ridges on its head that reach down the back of its neck.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln as he points his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Bagon, the Rock Head Pokemon. Whenever it sees bird Pokémon flying through the sky, it becomes envious and smashes its surroundings to bits with headbutts." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"I'm gonna catch this one, at least for the Poke Pelago." said Lincoln. He takes out his Gyarados' pokeball and lets him out of it. "Gyarados, use Twister!" Gyarados spins around, creating a tornado that heads for the Bagon and hits it, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it onto its back.
"Try to catch it, Lincoln!" said Mallow. Lincoln nods before he takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Bagon, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yes! I caught Bagon!" said Lincoln. He looks up his new Pokemon on his Rotom Phone. "This says my Bagon's a boy, he knows Rage, Ember, Leer, Bite, Dragon Breath, and Headbutt; he also has the Sheer Force ability that makes moves with secondary effects more powerful, but takes the effects away."
The group then notices the sun was starting to go down and decide that now would be a good time to head back to Hau'oli City.
They arrive about half an hour later, go to a Pokemon Center to turn in their Pokemon, sell the valuable items they found, and head back to their homes/lodgings.
Later at the hotel, after the Louds had dinner, they were chilling in their room, watching a PokeBase game on TV while Lincoln's Pokemon Egg was on the makeshift nest that was made for it.
"Today was awesome!" said Shiloh.
"I can't wait for the weekend to start so we can go to Akala Island for my next island trial." said Lincoln with a smile; his Pokemon Egg suddenly shakes.
"Looks like your egg is excited also." said Shelby.
"If Luan was here, she'd say 'egg-cited'." said Lynn, making everyone chuckle. Lincoln and Shane decide to call their respective families to fill them in on what they've been up to today.
"Hi, kids!" Lynn Sr and Lance say in unison.
"How are you all doing in Alola?" asked Rita.
"Tell us everything you were all up to." said Sharon. The kids told their parents about all the Pokemon they've seen and caught, and all the valuable stuff they found and sold.
"We're all glad you're all doing okay in Alola." said Lori.
"And I'll use some of the money I got to buy something at Alola Sunrise for you, Leni, and Lola." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, Lincoln!" said Lori, Leni, and Lola in unison.
Meanwhile, Chandler was in his room, watching TV after he ate his dinner he got from room service; as he does, he looks at his four pokeballs.
"Just you wait, Larry." Chandler says to himself. "I'm gonna become a stronger trainer than you, your sister, and your cousins!"
Lincoln and company had a productive day. What else are they going to do as their Alola adventure continues?
