(Ayla's POV)

*When we all stepped out of the portal, we all found ourselves in a meadow outside of a very familiar city. Charmy had his eyes closed*

Charmy: Did it work? Are in Station Square?

*I looked around until I saw the very city we were hoping to land in*

Ayla: Yes! Take a look!

*He opened his eyes & smiled along with everyone else when they they saw Station Square in the distance*

Sonic: Aw, yeah! We did it!

Amy: We're back!

Sally: So this is Station Square? Looks like a nice place.

Cosmo: How beautiful.

Creamy: Oh, it's wonderful, Princess Sally. I can't wait for you and the others to meet all our friends!

Cheese: Chao-Chao!

Knuckles: If half of them are even still around.

Ayla: Knuckles! Don't say that!

Knuckles: What? Time moves differently in this world. We don't know how many years have gone by. I'd be surprised if any of them even still remember us.

Amy: That's not true! I'm sure they still remember us.

Chip: Amy's right. You just have to have faith.

Rouge: Why don't we go into the city and find out for ourselves?

Shadow: We don't have time to play "catch up with old friends."

Rouge: Oh, we'll just quickly pop by, see how they're doing, and then find those Temples. Besides, I really want to see Topaz.

*He thought for a moment, but then looked at Cream & Cheese, who were giving him a double puppy-dog pour. Finally, he caved in & sighed*

Shadow: Alright. But only for a little while.

Cream: Yay!

Cheese: Chao!

Antoine: Zen it is settled. Into ze city we go!

*We all headed towards the city*

*We started to head into the city, sticking to the back alleys, so we didn't get any unnecessary attention. The city was pretty much the same as we left it, except with a few upgrades, like moving sidewalks, hover baby strollers, & holographic stop lights. I also saw a lot of kids riding around on hoverboards, hover bikes, & hover skates which made me a bit happy*

Sonic: I guess it's true what they say. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Vector: Ain't that the truth.

Espio: So what should we do first?

Sonic: I say the first thing we do is check up on Chris. It'll good to see the kid again.

Shadow: Sonic, I hardly think he's a kid anymore. Given how many years have possibly gone by.

Sonic: Good point.

*Just then, I noticed a bunch of old newspapers around a dumpster. I picked one up & my eyes went wide when I read the headline. I picked up a few more papers & read those too*

Ayla: Hey, guys. Check this out.

*They all gathered around me & we a read a paper from a four days ago*

PLANET BREAKS INTO SEVEN PIECES. OCEANS MYSTERIOUSLY STAYS ON THE SURFACE

*Then we looked at a paper from three days ago*

AFRICA PIECE GOES BACK INTO PLACE

*Then we looked at a paper from two days ago*

ASIA PIECE GOES BACK INTO PLACE

*Then we looked at a paper from yesterday*

PACIFIC PIECE GOES BACK INTO PLACE

Sally: Wow. Looks like whatever happens to Mobius also effects this world.

Amy: Well, they did our worlds were once the same planet.

*Then I looked at the date & my eyes went wide*

Ayla: Uh . . . Tails? What Earth year was it when we left Earth?

Tails: I believe it was 2021, why?

Ayla: Because the date on this paper is Saturday, , 2042!

*Everyone was in shock*

Rotor: Then that means . . . *he quickly did the math* 21 years have past in this world!

*Everyone looked even more shocked*

Tails: If it's been that long then . . . Chuck . . .

*Bunnie hugged Tails as he started to cry. Chip put a hand on his shoulder*

Bunnie: Hey, don't think like that, Sugar. If this Chuck is as stubborn as you as he is, I'm sure he's is still holding on.

Chip: Yeah. Just have faith, said.

*Tails wiped away a tear*

Tails: I guess so . . .

Sonic: All the more reason we should see Chris and find out what's up.

*We all nodded & headed further into the city*

*We made our way to Station Square University, where Chris told us he was working the last time we saw him. We stayed outside the building as we searched all the windows. Eventually, we found him in one of the classrooms, teaching it. He did look slightly older from the last time we saw him. Probably about 33*

Chris: So that's the Chris you told us about?

Sonic: Yep. Only older.

Rouge: I'll admit, he's gotten pretty handsome. For a human.

Amy: He looks a bit like his Dad.

*I just stood where I was in silence, amazed at how much the lonely kid we met so long ago, well, long ago to these people, had grown up. And now he was actually teaching other kids about science & robotics. We all stood at the window as we listened to him speak*

Chris: Now, as you can see, if you adjust the wires & gears, you can keep the robot perfectly balanced. *he started to turn slightly towards the window* The most important thing to remember is . . . *we all immediately ducked down * Was that . . .?

Student: Uh . . . Professor Thorndyke?

Chris: What? *he turned back to the students* Oh, apologies. Anyway, as I was saving, *suddenly, the bell rang* Ah, saved by the bell. *all the students started to leave* Now, remember everyone. The homework is due next week. *once all the students were gone, he went to the window, opened it, & looked around, but didn't see anything**sigh* Of course it wouldn't be them. *he turned from the window* Maybe Helen was right. I've been working too hard and need a vacation. But it's not like I can go anywhere with the half the planet still in pieces.

*That's when Sonic & I decided to make our entrance. We climbed in through the window*

Sonic: Well, you won't have to worry about that for much longer, buddy.

Ayla: Cause we're here to help.

*He turned around fast & his eyes went wide*

Chris: Sonic . . . Ayla . . . Is that really you.

Sonic: Not just us.

*All of our friends came in through the window. Then his eyes started to well up with tears*

Chris: Tails . . . Amy . . . Cream . . . Cheese . . . Knuckles . . . Vector . . . Espio . . . Charmy . . . Rouge . . . Shadow . . . Cosmo . . . Y - You're all back . . .

*We all went up to Chris to give our greetings*

Cosmo: It's so wonderful to see you again, Chris.

Cream: We've missed you so much.

Cheese: Chao-Chao!

Knuckles: How you doing?

Amy: You're doing well.

Tails: Good to see you.

Vector: Long time so see.

Charmy: Hiya!

*Espio just bowed ninja style*

Rouge: You're looking well, handsome.

*Shadow just smiled at him & nodded*

Ayla: And these are our other friends. The Freedom Fighters and Chip.

Chris: Wow. Princess Sally Acorn. Bunnie Rabot. Antoine D'Coolette. Dulcy Dragon, and Rotor Walrus.

Sally: Oh, so you already know about us.

Chris: Of course. Sonic and Ayla told me all about you guys. *he turned to Sally* Sonic especially told me a lot about you, Princess Sally.

Sally: Oh, did he now.

*She smirked at my brother, who blushed*

Chip: And my name is Chip. *he took out a chocolate bar* Want some chocolate?

Chip: Uh . . . Sure.

*He took the chocolate bar*

Sonic: So, Chris. How's everybody else doing?

*Later, we were all at the Thorndyke Mansion, having a snack. Earlier, we reunited with Helen, Danny, Frances, Molly, Ella, & Mr. Tanaka. Ella was overjoyed to reunite with Amy, Cream, & Cheese. Molly was happy to see Shadow & Rouge. Tanaka was really happy to see us. While we were eating, they told us what had happened while we were gone. The first thing Chris & Helen told us left us all in shock*

Amy: What!? You two are engaged!? When!? How!?

Helen: Well, shortly after we graduated from college, Chris asked me out and we started dating. Chris and I did a few more years of college before he finally proposed to me last month.

Ayla: Wow. Congratulations you guys.

Sonic: What about the your parents?

Chris: They're fine. Dad's planning on retiring next year and my Mom's currently in Milan, working on her latest movie.

Tails: Your Mom is still acting?

Chris: Yep. I think the only way she'll ever retire is if she's forced into it by her managers. As for everyone else, my Uncle Sam retired from racing after Sonic left. Now he's training future racers.

Danny: And remember President Michael K?

Rouge: Of course. How is the old man?

Danny: Oh, he retired years ago. Now he's living at a retirement center. Anyway, the President we have now is a woman named April Richards.

Rouge: What about Topaz?

Frances: Oh, she and Mr. Stewart are retired from being a field agents. Now's they're training future agents.

Shadow: And Molly?

Chris: She's become a G.U.N. field agent and right now, she's one of their top agents.

Ayla: And Tyler, Izzy, and Jake?

Helen: Tyler and Izzy are married now and expecting their first baby. Jake's getting to Annie next month.

Ayla: Wow. I'm glad everyone's doing great.

Tails: Wait. What about Chuck? *all the humans went silent & became sad* What's wrong?

*Helen put her hand on Chris' shoulder & nodded at him. He sighed*

Chris: Tails . . . I don't know how to tell you this, but . . . Grandpa's not doing well.

*We all started to look worried*

*So we all went around the city, visiting old friends. Sam immediately wanted to challenge Sonic to a race for old times sake, but was turned down because we were on a time limit. Former President Michael K. almost cried tears of joy when he saw us. Nelson & Lindsey were overjoyed. Topaz was just as happy to see Rouge. Molly pulled Shadow into a big hug. Tyler, Izzy, and Jake were over the moon when they saw me. Tyler even introduced me to his wife, Annie (look up "Hoshina Terumi" on "Pretty Cure Wiki"). Who I found to be very charming. We even introduced everyone to all of our friends, who they all took a liking too. Our last stop was the hospital. The nurses were shocked to see us, but they let us up to Chuck's room. When we got there, we were really sad to see how weak he looked as he laid in his hospital bed. Tails stepped up first. Chuck opened his eyes & weakly smiled*

Chuck: Tails . . . It really is you . . . I thought I'd never get to see you again . . .

Tails: Hey, Chuck. It's great to see you. I'm sorry I haven't come sooner.

Chuck: It's alright . . . I'm just . . . Glad I got to see you again . . . Before my time came.

Tails: Don't say that, Chuck! I promise that we'll fix everything and you'll okay. Until then, just hang on.

*With that said, Sonic, Chip, & I set out to find the next Temple*
