Sonic & Ayla Unleashed 7/8
(Ayla's POV)
*We headed to Thailand next. The final destination on Earth. An elderly man named Teanchai & his four kids told us the location of the Gaia Temple. We traveled through the jungle & across bodies of water to get there, battling robots along the way. But when we got there, however, a giant robot that looked like a black combination of the the Egg Beetle & Egg Devil Ray appeared & landed in front of us as we went along the path to the Temple. We dodged lasers & the robots pincers, getting close & hitting it with spin dashes & slices from my Ring Blades*
Egg Lancer: CONDITION YELLOW. SIMULATION. PROCEED TO COMBAT MODE LEVEL 2! *it sent out more lasers, but we dodged them all, along with it's pincers* CONDITION RED. PROCEED TO COMBAT MODE LEVEL 3!
*It started shooting out fire, but they barley hit us. then, once we were close enough, we landed one more attack, which caused it to start sparking & smoking. Then it exploded*
Sonic: What, over already? Oh, well.
Ayla: Like that's a surprise. Eggs-for-Brains' robots are hardly a challenge for us anymore.
*As we stepped up to the Temple, Chip started to look a little nervous*
Sonic: What's wrong, buddy?
Ayla: You feeling okay?
Chip: Huh? Oh, right. I'm just . . . Scared.
Sonic: Scared? *we all looked at the Temple* It's just another old temple. It doesn't look like there's anyone around, either.
Ayla: We've been in about five of these already. Nothing new.
Chip: That's . . . That's not what I mean. That's not . . . N - Nevermind. I'm fine. Let's go.
*We both watched him as he went inside. We both could tell something was bothering him, but we decided to let it slide for now as we followed him inside*
*We went into the temple. On the wall behind where the pedestal stood, was a mural that showed Dark Gaia, who seemed to be battling something, but it was so small, I couldn't tell what it was*
Sonic: Whoa.
Ayla: You said it.
*Chip used the gem on his collar to make the pedestal appear. Sonic placed one of the Chaos Emeralds in, it started to glow purple, & rose up into the air. I felt my heart pound as the Emerald got it's power back. Then the Emerald floated into my hand. Then I heard a voice in my head again*
Chaos Emerald: Is sealed inside the Earth . . .
*I smiled. One more clue to go. Just then, Chip flew up to the mural. He touched it & then it sucked him inside. He tried to get away, but he couldn't & went inside
Ayla & Sonic: Chip!
(Chip's POV)
*I struggled to get out as I flew through what looked like outer space. Ayla showed me pictures of it in a book*
?:*off-screen* I welcome your return . . . *I looked behind me & saw a ball of white light* Messenger of day, of light, of rebirth.
*A smaller ball of light came out of the bigger one & came towards me. It went inside me & I suddenly felt a surge of familiar emotions run through me. Suddenly, everything became clear to me*
(Ayla's POV)
*The mural glowed again as Chip came out of it*
Chip: Sonic. Ayla. I remember now. All of it.
*We went back to the village & stood on the docks as we watched the sunset. Then Chip explained everything*
Chip: My . . . My real name is Light Gaia. I draw power from the day and light, and guide the planet to it's rebirth. My job was to protect the planet from Dark Gaia. But Eggman broke the world apart himself, and Dark Gaia and I were awakened before we should've been. That's why Dark Gaia broke apart, and I did know who I was. I didn't remember what I was supposed to do. All because this isn't the proper time of awakening.
Sonic: Time of awakening?
Chip: Dark Gaia grows over millions of years, then rises to destroy the world, then rises to destroy the world. And I put it all back together. We've been doing this over and over, again and again . . . Since the very beginning of time.
Ayla: So you were asleep all this time? For millions of years?
Chip: Yes. For ages and ages.
*Then the sun sent down & Sonic & I turned into our Werehog forms*
Sonic: I bet it's thanks to you.
Chip: Hmm?
Sonic: Even at night, when we're like this, we're still ourselves. Not like the other people we've seen. You must have been protecting us this whole time.
Ayla: Chip, is that true?
*He shook his head*
Chip: I haven't done anything, guys. You're the reason neither of you have changed anything all. You're both too strong to lose yourselves!
Sonic & Ayla: We're the reason?
Chip: Yeah! You never doubt yourselves, no matter what. You never give into the night, or to the darkness inside your hearts. I think it's because I knew that about you two. That's why I wanted to you both to help me. It's been so fun! Getting to see the world. I've lived here since the planet began, but . . . I didn't know a thing about it. This world or your own. That their both so pretty, or that food tastes so good, or that the people are so nice! I'm so glad I got the chance to discover all that with you both. And I'm so glad that you helped me find my memory. Sonic, Ayla, I will never, ever forget you. Either of you. Thank you, Sonic. Ayla. Goodbye, friends.
*He started to fly away*
Sonic: Hey!
*I caught him with my stretchy arm & pulled him back*
Chip: Whoa, what - !?
Ayla: And where do you think you're going along?
Chip: What . . . But . . . My memory is back now, and . . . Well, from here on our, it's my responsibility, so, um . . . I mean, there's no reason for you guys to come along, so I should just . . .
Sonic: Do we need a reason to want to help out a friend?
Ayla: We said we would help you, and we meant it. We're not leaving until the work is done.
*Chip looked like he was ready to cry*
Chip: Thanks, guys!
*I winked a him & Sonic gave him a thumbs up, which he copied. Then we did a three-way high-five*
Sonic, Ayla, & Chip: Yeah!
*On the way back to our friends, I decided to ask Chip a question*
Ayla: Hey, Chip. Do you know how the planet came to be spilt into two in the first place?
Chip: Well, it happened a long time ago, so I don't remember all the details. I do remember that Dark Gaia tried to get in the way of me restoring the planet just as I was sealing him away. He distracted me from completing my work and it made me mess up. My mistake caused the world to split into two different planets, each one in a different dimension*
Ayla: Ah, that makes a bit of sense.
*We went back to Station Square & told everyone what we had just learned. It was nighttime when we got there, so the Werehogs were out. Thankfully, Chris & our human friends weren't at all bothered by our new monstrous appearances*
Frances: Wait. So all this time, Chip was the Light Gaia? The spirit meant to fix the world from the Manuscripts?
Ayla: That'd be correct.
Sonic: Which mean he's essential to fixing both of our worlds.
Tails: So we have to do whatever it takes to protect him from Eggman until we have the last Chaos Emerald back to full power.
Sally: Then we'll all go to the last Temple together. If we do, Eggman is going to have to get through all of us to get Chip.
Knuckles: There are strength in numbers.
Rotor: Ol' Iron Lips won't know what hit him.
Vector: And he'll be getting an extra whooping from the Chaotix.
Rouge: And of course, me and Shadow will help. Anything to get the last Emerald back to it's original splendor.
Ayla: Then it's settled. We're all going to finish this together. Freedom Fighters forever!
All: Yeah!
*Chip had tears in his eyes*
Chip: Thank you . . . Thank you everyone.
*Chris started to look sad*
Chris: So . . . I guess this means you're all leaving again?
*We all looked at him sadly. Then Chip came up to him & put his hands on his*
Chip: I'm sorry, Chris. I know this must be hard for you. But it's what must be done to fix the worlds & reunite them once more.
*Sonic stepped up to him next*
Sonic: And think about it. Once our worlds are together again, we can see each other any time we want.
*Chris smiled a bit*
Chris: Yeah . . . You're right.
*Tails took Chuck's hand*
Tails: And don't worry, Chuck. Once the worlds are fixed, we'll use the Chaos Emeralds to help you.
*Chuck smiled weakly*
Chuck: I pray you do, Tails. I really do.
