From the Sidelines
Kim couldn't tear her eyes away from the ensuing battle. The yellow and white rangers fought Elsa while the others battled the monster.
The way the two rangers moved… the white ranger often standing protectively in front of his teammate reminded her of how Tommy used to try his best to protect her during fights, especially after he became the white ranger, hence the nickname "white knight" which she and the others had taken to tease him mercilessly. Though Kim could take care of herself and Tommy knew that as well, she found it cute and endearing…
Kim shook her head. Why was she thinking all this right now?
She turned towards the other fight. Tommy's new black suit was impressive. It had a regal feel to it, more so than Jason's gold zeo suit ever did. From looks of the helmet, his powers were modelled after a brachiosaurus.
The other two… the red and the blue were based on tyrannosaurus and triceratops, just like Jason and Billy's powers were.
Funny, they didn't seem to have a pink ranger. She peered at the yellow ranger and her dagger themed weapons, which had a familiar design on them… Hers was based on a pterodactyl and Kim instantly felt a kinship with the younger girl.
The white ranger too seemed to have powers based on a reptilian bird but something other than a pterodactyl and Kim wasn't knowledgeable enough on dinosaurs to identify what it was.
A yell drew her attention.
The snake monster had spewed venom on the red and blue ranger, their suits steaming as the venom ate through the armour. It reminded her of the one snake monster she had to face singlehandedly… Snizzard or something?
"Activate your super dino modes now!" Tommy called out to them and the two nodded.
"Super Dino Mode!" They yelled and the white diamond themed pattern that ran along their suits became three dimensional spikes and their helmets seemed to roar. The change in their armour seemed to dissipate the green venom.
Kim felt jealous. Her team didn't get any fancy power ups back in their days! The most they had was Tommy transferring his dragon shield to Jason and Zack on rare occasions!
"Brachio Staff!" Tommy yelled, rotating his staff on a circular motion before sending a volley of energy orbs crashing against the monster.
The red and blue rangers were next, pouncing on the monster, slashing it with their spikes.
The monster staggered backwards as miniature explosions tore through it's body as it imploded on itself.
Elsa was driven back by the rangers and she snarled at them before retreating into a portal.
Kim smiled at the obvious victory of the rangers and came out of the hiding spot.
"You guys were amazing!" She complimented them with a wide smile.
"Thanks!" The red ranger replied, scratching the back of his helmet. "Who are you? Dr O said to not bother about identities around you."
The yellow ranger elbowed him for his bluntness while Kim bit back a smile. This guy reminded her of Rocky, earnest but often blunt and tactless.
She turned towards Tommy. "Dr O?" She asked, quirking her eyebrows.
"Don't start." He shrugged. "Guys, this is Kimberly Hart, Earth's first pink ranger in modern times."
The rangers looked at each other and while their helmets hid their faces, their movements did nothing to disguise their surprise and excitement.
"Oh, that's why you looked so familiar!" The yellow ranger said excitedly. "We saw you in the video diary!"
"Diary?" She asked.
"Ranger History records." Tommy said promptly. "Guys, let's not bombard her with stuff."
"Yeah, sorry." Kira shrugged, before extending her gloved hand. "I am Kira."
Kim smiled as she shook it firmly.
The other three introduced themselves as Conner, Ethan and Trent.
"So, you teach a ranger class or what?" Kim asked Tommy.
"A long story." The black ranger sighed. "Maybe this is not the best place for it. Let's regroup in the base guys."
"Base?" Kim asked as the rangers demorphed. She noted that the white ranger was a young boy with jet black hair. "You got a Command Centre now?"
"More like a bat cave." Conner said offhandedly.
"Oh, I got to see this now." Kim smirked.
Tommy shot his student a glare as they headed towards their cars. Kira hitched a ride on Kim's car, Ethan on Conner's and Trent stayed with Tommy.
