Chapter 33

EPOV

I felt like I was flying as Bella, Maggie, and I walked down the aisle after we had finally been pronounced husband and wife. I grinned in elation as the sound of the music was drowned out by the cheering from our friends and family. We made our way into the room next door where we had arranged to have a few minutes alone, and once we'd entered the closed the door behind us, I pulled Bella into my arms and kissed her softly.

"We're married!" she exclaimed with a grin.

"Yes, we are, Mrs. Cullen."

"I like the sound of that," she said as she pulled me close for another kiss.

"Ugh, are you guys going to kiss even more now?" Maggie asked with a dramatic sigh, causing Bella and I to pull apart with a laugh.

"Sorry, baby girl," I chuckled, as I led her and Bella toward a table and several chairs at the side of the room.

"When do we get to go to the party?" she asked as we sat down.

"We'll go in a few minutes once they get the room set up," Bella answered, "but first, we have some papers to sign, remember?"

Before Maggie could answer, a knock sounded at the door, just before it opened. We all turned toward the door as my parents, Bella's parents, and the judge walked in.

"Thanks again for doing this, Caius," my dad was saying as they entered.

"Yes, thank you so much," I echoed the sentiment.

"It's my pleasure," he assured us as he stepped up to the table and withdrew a sheaf of papers from his briefcase. "These are the things that make the harder aspects of my job worthwhile."

Caius Volturi was a local judge and old friend of my parents. We'd approached him a few months ago and asked if he would be willing to officiate the wedding and mentioned our intent for Bella to adopt Maggie as well. To our surprise and delight, he'd not only agreed to marry us, but he had arranged for the adoption papers to be signed along with our marriage license, making our family complete in every way all at the same time.

"Well, little one, are you ready for Bella to be your mom?" Caius asked Maggie.

"She already is my mom, but we'll have the same last name now, right?" Maggie asked.

"That you will, little one," Caius responded with a chuckle.

Twenty minutes later, the papers were signed, and the photographer had come and gone after capturing a few shots of the occasion. Our parents had taken Maggie with them to the reception, allowing Bella and I a couple of minutes alone.

"Well, how do you feel, Mrs. Cullen? You gained a husband and a daughter all at once." I said as I pulled Bella onto my lap.

"I feel pretty damn great," she said as she looped her arms around my neck. "But honestly, the whole thing seemed a little anti-climactic for such a momentous occasion."

I chuckled, then agreed, "Yeah, it really did. But no matter how quick it was, I'm so glad you're mine forever and so grateful that you love Maggie the way you do."

"I love you both," Bella said then leaned in and kissed me softly.

Before we could get carried away, another knock sounded at the door. We pulled apart just as the wedding coordinator stuck her head in the door and let us know it was time to head into the reception. Bella stood up and pulled me out of the chair, and we made our way to the reception space hand in hand.

A short time later, after we had greeted our guests, Bella and I made our way to the dance floor for our first dance. We had opted to get a couple of the formal elements out of the way so we could then enjoy a relaxed dinner with our family and friends. I spun Bella into my arms as the first strains of our song sounded, and I kissed her when we were face to face. As we swayed gently to the music, I couldn't help but once again marvel at how much I loved this woman and how complete I felt whenever she was in my arms.

"What are you thinking about so hard?" Bella asked softly.

"You," I responded, earning a smile from my beautiful bride.

"What exactly are you thinking about me?" she asked.

"Just how lucky I am and how amazing you feel in my arms. I can't wait to see what our future holds," I told her.

"Me, too," she said. "And as wonderful as today is, I'm so looking forward to doing life with you. Whatever that may look like."

"I agree, but before we get back to real life, I'm looking forward to the honeymoon," I said, waggling my eyebrows.

"Oh, yeah? And where is this honeymoon going to be?" she asked.

"Still not going to tell you. You should have figured out by now that you'll never break me. You'll find out soon enough," I said with a laugh, then kissed the adorable pout off her lips.

"God, I love you, Isabella. And for the record, it doesn't really matter where the honeymoon is, because I may not let you out of the hotel. Whether or not it ever works, we are going to have a hell of a lot of fun practicing for a baby," I growled before kissing her harder.

A moment later when the kiss ended, I looked down into Bella's eyes and was surprised to notice the sheen of tears. "What's wrong, baby?"

"Nothing's wrong," she said with a smile. "In fact, everything is very, very right. So, I guess this is a good time to tell you that we won't actually be practicing on our honeymoon. There's no reason to practice something we've already perfected."

I felt my brows knit together in confusion as I tried to process what Bella was telling me, then I froze, halting our dance as understanding dawned. "Are you saying what I think you're saying?"

Bella nodded with an anxious expression. "We're having a baby?" I asked for clarification.

"Yes," she said softly with tears shimmering in her eyes.

Her confirmation spurred me into action as pure joy surged through me, and I scooped Bella into my arms and whirled around in a circle with her feet dangling off the floor. "We're having a baby, baby!" I crowed as I stopped spinning and kissed Bella hard. I realized that I had completely forgotten where we were when I heard the collective gasp just before a cheer rose from the crowd around us.

"Oops," I said sheepishly.

"Well, that's one way to announce it," Bella laughed, and I was relieved she wasn't upset at me for blurting out the news the way I had.

Before I could ask Bella any of the questions circling frantically in my brain, Maggie slammed into my legs. "Daddy! I'm gonna be a big sister?!" she asked excitedly.

"Yes, it seems that you are, baby girl," I said as I bent down and pulled her into my arms.

"Nana! Did you hear that? I'm getting a baby sister!" Maggie exclaimed to her grandmother.

"I heard, Magpie, but you know, it may be a baby brother," my mom said as she and my dad approached us, along with Charlie and Sue.

I was saved from Maggie's argument when I heard the deejay announce the father-daughter and mother-son dance. Happy to let him explain that we don't get a choice to Maggie, I passed her to my dad with a smirk as she launched into her case for a sister rather than a brother, then I took my mother's hand and led her a few feet away to begin our dance.

"Oh, Edward, a baby! I'm so happy for you and Bella. But I thought there were fertility issues," she said uncertainly.

"Well, I thought so too, but I haven't had a chance to ask any questions, since my impromptu announcement caused the wolves to descend," I teased.

Mom laughed, then said, "Well, whatever the answers, I couldn't be happier."

I nodded my agreement but didn't respond due to the lump in my throat as the joy washed over me again. We continued dancing as my mother rambled about how excited she was to have another grandbaby on the way, and I listened with half an ear as I looked over at Bella dancing with Charlie. They were talking softly, so I couldn't hear them, but I could see the radiant smile on Bella's face, and if I wasn't mistaken, the sheen of tears in Charlie's eyes.

Finally, a short time later, the traditional dances were finished, and Bella and I were seated at the head of the long table where our wedding party and immediate family were sitting for dinner. I leaned over and spoke quietly to Bella while we waited for our meal to be served.

"So, I have a couple of questions," I began, causing Bella to laugh lightly.

"Yes, I imagine you do," she said, then she quickly told me the basics of when the baby was due and how she had found out.

We talked quietly for a few more minutes until our dinner was placed in front of us, and our surrounding family and friends drew our attention away from each other. Part of me wanted to grab Bella and find a private place to finish our conversation, but I controlled myself and forced myself to wait until later to get answers to all my questions.

Dinner was filled with lively conversation and delicious food, but to be honest, I was eager for the evening to end. I couldn't be happier than I was feeling in that moment, with the love of my life beside me, my baby inside her, and Maggie and the rest of our family around us, but it had been quite a day, and I was ready to have some alone time with my wife.

I was suddenly pulled from my thoughts as Bella leaned close to me. "What's up? You look serious all of a sudden," she said quietly.

"Nothing really, I was just thinking that I'm ready-," I began, but was cut off by the sound of a chair scraping on the floor and I looked down the table to see Rosalie quickly exit the room and Emmett looking confused and concerned. I turned back to Bella, only to find she had slipped from her seat and followed Rose out of the room. I shared a confused look with my brother but was then distracted by my father.

A few minutes later, Bella and Rose came back, and Emmett met them across the room. Bella left Rose and Emmett and slid back into her seat beside me. Before I could even ask what was going on, my attention was drawn back across the room to my brother and his wife.

"What?! No way!" Emmett shouted with a panicked look on his face. I could see Rose discreetly try to calm him, but then suddenly, Emmett's face paled and the next thing I knew, he was on the floor, having fallen straight back like a giant tree. I swung my gaze to Bella, who looked as shocked as I felt, and I simply raised my eyebrow in question as my parents jumped out of their seats to check on him.

"Yeah, so, I guess she told him she's pregnant again," Bella told me with a soft giggle.

I just looked at her incredulously before the full impact of the moment hit me and I couldn't contain myself. I threw my head back and laughed heartily. My laughter must have assured our guests that nothing serious was going on, because the conversation that had ceased at Emmett's shout picked back up. I continued laughing as I watched my dad help Emmett off the floor and into a chair. I could practically see the cartoon birds circling his head. I was glad he didn't seem to be injured, because that was one of the funniest things I'd seen in a very long time.

"Well, it certainly has been quite the day," I chuckled. "I mean, I got a wife, a baby and a new niece or nephew on the way, Maggie officially got a mom, and I got to watch my giant lug of a brother hit the floor. I only wish Rose had yelled timber as he went down."

"Edward, you're terrible," admonished Bella with a laugh.

"What? You have to admit that was hilarious."

"Okay, fine, it was pretty funny," she admitted. "I can't believe he fainted."

I laughed again at the sound of Bella's infectious giggle, then looked up at my dad as he came back to his seat.

"Is he alright?" I asked.

"Yeah, just a bit in shock, I think. Rose is upset, though, so your mother took her out into the hall to calm her down," Dad stated.

"Oh, no, I better go check on her," Bella said as she rose from her chair again.

I had just turned back to Dad to see if Rose and Emmett had told them the reason for the excitement, but before I could ask, I felt a body drop into Bella's chair beside me and turned back to see my brother. His face was still pale, but at least he was upright.

"You alright, Em?" I asked.

"Hell, no, I'm not alright," Emmett hissed as he looked wildly between our father and me. "Four kids, Ed! What the hell am I going to do with four kids?!"

"Is that what you said to Rose?" I asked.

"Well, yeah! What else was I supposed to say? I mean, hell, we only did it one time without protection after the vasectomy. What are the odds? I love my kids, man, but four of them!"

"Emmett, you-," Dad began, but I cut him off.

"I've got this one, Dad," I said before turning back to Emmett. "Emmett, you're an idiot."

"What?" he asked.

"You heard me. You're an idiot! You strutted around like a damn peacock for months when you guys got pregnant with Amelia, even though Rose was scared and emotional because it wasn't planned. And now, when she's probably feeling a million times more overwhelmed because it's happening all over again just a few months later, you ask your pregnant, hormonal wife what you're supposed to do with another one?" I stopped and let my words sink in, and I was satisfied as I watched Emmett's face pale further.

"Ah, shit. I fucked up, didn't I?" he finally said.

"Yes, you most certainly did, my boy," Dad said with a pat on his shoulder. "Now, what are you going to do about it?"

"I'm going to go take care of my wife. Hell, what's one more? Our house is a circus already!" Emmett said as he stood up. I was relieved to see the color in his face and his usual humor begin to return.

"You better get ready to crawl, bro," I said with a laugh, and he nodded sheepishly before walking toward the door to find Rosalie.

"Man, what a day," Dad said.

"You're telling me. Who would have thought that Bella and I getting married would be the least exciting thing to happen at our wedding?"

Dad chuckled along with me, then we both turned our attention to the various conversations going on around us as we waited for our wives to return.

BPOV

Later that evening, I laid my head against Edward's shoulder and listened to his deep, even breaths as we reclined in our first-class seats on a plane bound for Paris. I'd been beyond surprised when we arrived at the airport a couple of hours earlier and he had finally revealed our honeymoon destination. He had known of my dream to see the City of Light, but that being the secret honeymoon he had planned had never even crossed my mind.

I laughed softly as Edward snored lightly, then sighed as I wished I could sleep as easily as him. My body was exhausted, but my brain was wired, and I just couldn't settle down, so I let my mind wander back over the events of the day. It had been an extremely emotional day, but I couldn't call it a roller coaster since there hadn't really been any lows. The only dip had been how upset Rose had been at Emmett's reaction to their unexpected pregnancy. Esme and I had been in the hallway trying to calm Rose down when Emmett had come busting out begging for forgiveness and swearing to make it up to her. Rose had eventually agreed to hear him out, but her hormones hadn't allowed her to forgive quickly. I had only felt a little sorry for him when I saw Rose smirk evilly at him while promising that he would indeed pay for his stupidity. I would have been genuinely concerned that she might not ever forgive him, but I'd turned around just before re-entering the reception hall and seen her fall into his arms.

The rest of the day had been incredible. Esme and Carlisle were thrilled after learning they had two new grandchildren on the way, and Maggie was over the moon to be a big sister, while Tyler and Kate were thrilled to be getting a new cousin. I wasn't sure they were quite so excited about another baby coming home with them in a few months, but I knew they'd come around.

I had been slightly on edge a few times early in the day, wondering how Alice would react to all the events of the day, but she'd been nothing but helpful and happy. After the excitement of Edward's unintentional announcement of our baby, and the drama with Rose and Emmett during dinner, Alice had caught me later in the evening and expressed her excitement for new nieces or nephews and informed me she was already planning our baby shower. I hadn't detected anything but happiness in my old friend, and it gave me peace. I didn't think we'd ever get back to the close friends we'd been as kids or would still be if Tanya had never come into our lives, but we were in a pretty good place, and I was glad that we could move forward. Especially considering we were family now.

Finally, my mind drifted to one of my favorite moments of the day. Of course, adopting Maggie and marrying Edward were the top two, but my dad's reaction to the news of his first biological grandchild was right up there in the top three.

I squealed and laughed in shock when Edward spun me around and shouted out the news that we were expecting. I had known he would be delighted to expand our family, but his completely unreserved and joyous reaction had been unexpected. I turned in his arms as he set me back on my feet and grinned at our parents and Maggie who rushed toward us after the announcement. Edward caught Maggie as she crashed into him, while I accepted hugs from Esme, Carlisle, and Sue, who winked at me in reference to our little secret being let out of the bag so quickly. I heard the deejay announce the father-daughter dance and turned to Charlie, who had been standing quietly on the edge of our little circle.

"Ready, Daddy?" I asked as I reached out a hand to him.

"Sure, Bells," he said quietly as he drew me into his arms and began swaying back and forth.

He was silent for several moments and I began to grow concerned that he was upset about something. I'd never imagined he wouldn't be thrilled at the prospect of a grandchild, especially the way he had accepted Maggie so wholeheartedly.

"What's wrong, Dad?" I asked softly, biting my lip in apprehension.

"Wrong? Nothing's wrong, baby girl. I just can't believe my baby is having a baby," he said, his voice cracking slightly. I looked up and was surprised to see tears glimmering in his eyes, which triggered my own. This was officially the first time in my thirty-three years I'd ever seen Charlie Swan cry.

"Oh, Dad, I'm so relieved you're happy."

"Of course, I'm happy, Bells! Why would you ever think I wouldn't be?"

"You were just so quiet, I wasn't sure. And this isn't exactly how I thought we'd share the news," I explained.

"Well, it may not have been your plan, but I think it's pretty great. It's been a big day. I got to see my baby girl marry a good man that loves her, officially gained a granddaughter, and learned my next grandbaby is on the way. That's a damn good day in my book," he said gruffly.

I laughed lightly at his declaration, then agreed. "It's a damn good day in mine, too, Dad."

I laid my head on his shoulder as the end of the song neared and felt him kiss the top of my head and murmur, "I love you, Bells."

"I love you, too, Daddy."

I smiled at the memory, and I knew I'd never forget that moment. I was incredibly blessed to have so many amazing men in my life between Edward, Carlisle, Emmett, and Jasper, but Charlie was the one who had been there for me my entire life and I eagerly looked forward to watching him with his grandkids in the years to come. My kids would be the luckiest kids in the world to have him for a grandpa. Not to mention, they'd be ridiculously spoiled between him and Carlisle. Of course, having amazing grandparents was just icing on the cake for our kids when they had Edward for a father. He was already so amazing with Maggie, and I couldn't wait to see him with our little one. I ran my hand over my stomach and snuggled a little closer to Edward as I started to drift closer to sleep with a smile on my face.

Just over a year ago, I'd begun to see several people in my life in a whole new light. That light hadn't been flattering for everyone, but it had shined brightly on the man sleeping next to me. Even though we'd had plenty of challenges in our relationship, the future was bright, and I was eagerly looking forward to what all our tomorrows would bring. Just as sleep pulled me under, my last coherent thought as we streaked through the sky toward our first two weeks of wedded bliss was that I would forever be grateful that I'd opened my eyes to that new light and found the other half of my soul.
