C12: Leaving The Family.

In the living-room, by the door, Ebony got her fur-coat off the coat-wrack and put it on, placed her phone in her purse that was also on the wrack, followed by getting it off, reached in the right pocket of her coat, got her gloves out and put them on.

"Bailing already, i see." Came the voice of James.

Ebony turned to see James standing in the living-room. "What do you want?"

"Oh, nothing. I just wanted to know...did you mean what you said when you promised Bonny you'd be joining us for breakfast tomorrow morning?" James said.

"Ha. Have breakfast? With you? With those people? I'd rather kiss a flag-pole on a winter day." Ebony said.

"Those people you speak of are our family." James said.

"No, James. They're your family. They're your wife, your son and cousins." Ebony corrected.

"Is that why you didn't bring any luggage with you? You don't wanna spend the Christmas week with us town's folk?" James asked.

"How do you know i didn't bring any luggage?" Ebony asked.

"Because everybody else un-loaded and un-packed when they got here. You didn't. So that must mean you didn't bring any luggage with you." James deduced.

"Wow, you're pretty smart. And you're right. I didn't bring any luggage with me. Because i have no intention of staying here a day, much less a whole week." Ebony said.

"I...You know what? I'm done." James said.

"Good. Because i'm done talk about this." Ebony said before turning to the door and un-locking and opening it and leaving out of the cabin home, followed by closing the door back.

James just stood in the living-room, staring at the door his mother had just used to exit the cabin. He was angry, sad and disappointed at the same time. But then again, why should he be? This was his classic mother anyway. Always making promises and never keeping them. It had been like that ever since Christmas-1998. She would make promises to James to show up for his birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's...and would be a no-show. That was how it had always been for the last 26 years. Why should now be any different?
