C6: The Book Family Cabin-(Part 2)

Those were the good old days. The days when his mother was kind...carefree...sober...loved the holidays...and when his father was still around. It seemed like only yesterday when James was having his 6th Christmas with both of his parents, even though it had been 26 years. And yet so much had happened since then, it felt like a lifetime ago. Then again, he supposed it was. After all, it was the 90s when he was little. The last era of the 20th century. This current time was the 2020s. The third decade of the 21st century. And yet despite all that time that had passed since Christmas-1998, his mother hadn't changed a bit. Not for the better anyway.

"Okay," Came the voice of Bonny, snapping James out of his thoughts. He looked and saw that Bonny, Aiden and Max were entering back into the room. "dinner will be ready in two hours. The rest of the family should be here by then." Bonny said as she, Aiden and Max walked over to Ebony and James. She then noticed their cold, dead silence towards each other. "What'd we miss?"

"Not a thing?" James said.

"Miss Scroogeman, why don't you make yourself comfortable and get to know Aiden while James and i get some refreshments? Aiden, sit down with your Grandma and talk with her." Bonny said.

"Now, before you go...i just want you to know that i don't expect any special treatment. I just wanna help out where i can...and not get in the way." Ebony said, with her fake-happy expression on her face.

"Miss Scroogeman, that's sweet." Said Bonny. "I'm sure we'll get along just fine. Won't we, James?"

"Oh, it'll be Heaven." James said, with his fake-happy expression on his face. "Haha."

Ebony gave a fake smile to James and Bonny before the two of them went into the dining-room.

...

"Bonny, why did you make me lie to my mother like that? We will not all get along fine." James said as he walked up to Bonny, who stopped in her tracks.

"She's been fine so far." Bonny said as she turned to face James.

"Yeah, well, don't let that niceness fool you. My mother can be a man old Scrooge when she wants to be. Especially during this time of year." James said.

"That's it." Bonny said. "No more talk about your Mom being a Scrooge or the Grinch that stole Christmas. I like your mother. Now i suggest you put a smile on that face of your's before you be in big trouble with me."

"Fine." James said.

Bonny and James resumed walking through the dining-room, walked up to the knobless push-open kitchen-door, pushed it open, and went inside the kitchen to get some drinks.
