Chapter 5

05-6 was waiting at his desk in his office when Katana knocked and entered the room. "Ah, welcome Katana. Thank you for making quick haste. We have a job we want you to complete. All of the other researchers are busy right now. We need you to go interview the subject who houses SCP-007."

"The guy with the abdominal planet?" Katana asked.

"Yes. though he likes to be called Matt." 05-6 answered.

"I can do that." She headed for the containment room and went in. When she entered, she was surprised to see that the subject was currently playing Mortal Kombat 9 on his Xbox. At least they don't keep him locked in a cell staring at the ceiling.

The sound of the door shutting alerted the person that there was a visitor. "Hey. You're not Dr. Mellard."

"No I'm not. My name is Katana and I'm here on the behalf of the council." Katana answered. She felt awkward giving these interviews and didn't understand why she had to be the one to do it. There were lower ranked techs or researchers who could have done it. But she continued on. Maybe something will come of it.

"Oh? What for?" Matt responded, "And I'm Matt."

"Before we get into the thick of it. How are things so far? I see you have an Xbox, do you want any more games for it? Or maybe something else." Katana started.

"Hm… I think I'm fine for now. Though… It would be really cool to have someone come in to play It Takes Two with. Since… you know… no internet…" Matt said.

"Maybe we can get something in place like an unlimited Hotspot." Katana said. She sighed, you would think in a place like this, they could have a separate wifi for the humanoid scps who can actually respond and are not killers."

"Cool. So… what did you want to ask about? I'm guessing the planet?" Matt responded.

"Right. Since the last time any of the researchers came in, has anything new developed?" Katana asked. She had pulled her notebook out and was ready to write his responses.

"Not as far as I can tell. Though… There have been a few weird flashes. Honestly, every time it happens, it makes me gassy. Other than those, nothing's changed. Any idea of what it could be?" Matt answered.

Katana nodded and wrote his answer, "I'm not sure. However, the researchers can look at it the next time you meet with them."

"Sweet. Hey. You want to play with me for a little bit?" Matt said, pointing to the Xbox and TV.

"Sure. I'm sure I can spare the time." She picked up a controller, "Do you remember anything from before becoming a host for the planet?"

"I was just a regular guy. Never did anything out of the ordinary or put too much attention on myself. Go to work, watch movies and bed. When I first noticed the change, I just thought it was stomach problems from eating too much pizza." Matt answered.

"So it happened overnight with no onset warning." Katana responded, "Strange."

"Totally. Symptoms wise it was normal… heart burn, cramps. Strangely enough, I always felt hungry even when I ate. Made me miss work because of how awful it made me feel. I woke up the next day and found that I had a planet in my stomach. Freaked me the hell out. That's for sure." Katana continued writing what he was saying. "I was a bit intrigued by it after coming to terms that this was happening. Being super afraid of touching, I don't want to hurt anyone. What if I am like a god to them?" Matt sighed, "I don't know if I can handle that type of pressure."

"That must have been one hell of a thing to wake up to. But I'm sure the researchers are actively trying to figure it out." Katana commented.

Matt chuckled, "No kidding. This whole experience has put me into a thoughtful mood. Like, what if we are all in someone's stomach? Or what if the entire universe was just one big stomach on some other guy. If I die, will the world end?!" By the end of his thoughts, he had worked himself into a panic.

"I don't know the answers to those questions, but don't go drawing conclusions or panicking over things there aren't no conclusive answers on." Katana reassured.

"Not even a guess? I'd feel better than hearing you don't know." Matt retorted.

"I will not give out answers that are not definitive. Would you rather I lie to you and tell you everything is peachy?" Katana responded, calmly.

"Yes!" He countered, starting to get loud.

"Okay. Fine. Then no. I do not think so. Whatever it is that is going on with you, I'm guessing is only an anomaly. You are worrying yourself to death over countless possibilities that your drawing insane conclusions." Katana snapped.

The sharpness of her tone seemed to bring him down, "Like a…a glitch. Like I'm a glitch in the system? Sort of like a simulation."

"If you want to call it that, then fine. I'm not a researcher so do not claim my thoughts as fact. Wait till the researchers have figured it out." Katana stood up, "I have to go." She had to update the paperwork for this file and let the researchers know where his mindset was heading. She stood, set down the controller, and turned to leave when she heard him shout. When she looked back at him, he was doubled over. "What happened? What's wrong?"

"My stomach!" As he spoke, bright lights rose off his abdomen where the planet was.

Katana backed up and hit a signal to bring in researchers. At the same time, she reassured, "It's going to be okay." However her words seem to be not heard with good reason. The light by the abdomen keeps going higher and higher until it breaks the atmosphere only a few meters from the end of the planet. Matt let out a shrill shriek of pain for a minute, but seemed to stabilize not long afterwards. Once it breached orbit, the light started flying towards the dresser the TV was sitting on. Katana was fascinated by the sight. Soon after, the light faded but a dot, barely visible to the human eye, was on the dresser. Two more smaller dots walked away from the singular. All Katana could do was watch.

A few researchers and a guard quickly come in. One of the researchers asked, "What's happened?" They tapped her shoulder to get her attention.

Pulling her attention to the small group, Katana responded "I'm not entirely sure… He doubled over and this light shot out away from the planet."

"A light? What kind? And where did it go?" The researcher began.

"Yes, a light. I don't know and it's on the dresser," She pointed to the dresser. Immediately the researchers made their way over to study the phenomenon. Katana shook her head but glanced up when she heard one of the researchers say, "Oh my god. It's people from SCP-007. They achieved space travel."

Another researcher responded, "Already!?" The two researchers seemed to go back and forth discussing what was happening. Katana could do nothing but stand there patiently. After being ignored for several minutes, she slowly backed out of the room to be out of the way and headed for her office. She would get the notes about this later from one of the researchers. What she could do now, was report what she had witnessed into the files and wait for her next orders.
