The shadow figured watched the girl from the distant as she cried and cried till she could longer keep her head held up and passed out on the large rock, usually this was the perfect chance for him to take his pray however something about the girl intrigued him, the smell of her blood was something he had never smelt before, he wanted to know more about her, get to know her but by the look of her she was quite young and not ready to be turned. He knew younger vampires were annoying to deal with and around eighteen was the perfect age even in their early twenties as they had more maturity and sense of themselves than a 14 or 16 year old vampire would.

He knew the area he was in was wolf territory knowing a little bit about the history of this land, knowing it was protected and he could hear the patter of paw prints coming from a mile away. He could've taken her , here and now however he would wait, he could come back in a few years when she was matured then turn her, oh how beautiful she would be.

He took his bracelet from his wrist and put it in her pocket, touched her forehead with his cold fingers so he could read her mind and get to know her name and who she was.

"Oh Nora"He whispered into her ear "I'll be back for you sleeping beauty" And just like that he vanished, just before Embry came and found his imprint sleeping peacefully unharmed on the large rock

Embry went looking for Nora as soon as he got the call from Paul saying Nora went missing. He was able to track her scent however it was mixed with a vampire that had been roaming the area in the last few weeks. This vampire wasn't related to the Cullen's and he wasn't leaving hunting any humans in the area, so what was he doing?

As his paws dug deeper into the dirt Embry knew he had to get to his imprint, so many what if questions rummaging through his mind if the vampire was near her and if he dared to touch her, he would hunt the vampire till he was dead.

Finally Embry found her scent again and a sleeping Nora on the large rock and no vampire to be seen. What was strange was that the vampire had gone near Nora yet no marks were left on her. 'Curious' Embry thought.

He put his focus on Nora , lifting her up and pulling her to his chest, so she could feel the warmth of his skin

He shook his wolf head and decided to focus on getting Nora home to her family. He transformed back into his human form, grabbing the shorts from his ankle that he tied them too and putting them on. Explaining to anyone why he was naked carrying a young girl would be highly inappropriate and just plain weird. He laughed at the thought.

He lifted her up into his arms carefully not wanting to wake her up, pressing her to his skin so she could be warm and not feel the cold. Paul had told Embry the news of Bella and he felt the sadness creep in. The Lahote were family to him, especially with Nora being his imprint and he couldn't imagine a life without Bella in it, it was going to be weird when she left , how could they let her go again? The thought of losing her again didn't sit well with Embry but what could they do?

He felt the tear slide down his eye as he walked back to the Lahote residence, he was almost there and could see a bunch of cars around the house. The news would have broken that Bella was sick and Nora had gone for a run. Even in the chaos there was one thing Embry knew that would get everyone through this, is that they all had each other, the big crazy family that he cherished.

a few hours later

As Nora was settled in her bed and her brothers fast asleep, Bella was accompanied in the lounge room on her big white couch with all the fluffy rainbow pillows surrounded by all the people she loved. Angela was snuggled next to her trying to hide her tears as she curled herself next to Bella, while Rachel was on the other side, with Jessica next to her. She was surrounded by her favourite girls, even Leah came who always kept to herself however she would always be family.

Paul was situated on the other couch with Jacob and Jared on either side as he bounced Jared's and Kim's two month old girl Lydia on his lap, he had a small smile on his face as he focused on the little one who had no idea what was going on to the world but remained bubbly in all her essence. Lydia was the tenth child for Jared and Kim, even though Paul would have loved a big family like theirs he knew how grateful he was for the even the three children he had and that he got to be an uncle to all these amazing kids.

Suddenly the room filled with this beautiful aroma as Emily brought in her infamous banana muffins from the kitchen, her and Sam were one of the first ones to rock up as soon as the news broke out of Bella's sickness. Their kids were old enough now to stay home with the supervision of their eldest son Lyka and Sam knew they had to be with their other family in these tiring times.

The muffins were passed around, and plate was demolished as Emily knew it would be, even if you couldn't eat she knew her muffins would do the trick especially when they're loaded with three different types of chocolate. She hadn't told Bella and Paul but she was preparing them a bunch of food so they wouldn't have to cook for the week and she would come back if they needed to do another cook.

With that Emily went back into the kitchen the place she loved the most and kept cooking, while the others all sat together biting at the muffins and talking. The atmosphere began to change into the family bubble of laughter and smiles, Bella was able to get out of her head as the girls started talking about Nora's sixteenth birthday party that was happening next weekend.

"I was going to cook a lot of the food, but I don't think I have the energy anymore" Bella said as she nibbled at her muffin.

"Don't worry Bells, we sort absolutely everything for you" Angela croaked as she looked at her best friend.

Bella gave a smile, a genuine one the first one that she was able to produce all day, and she thought to herself even if she wasn't going to be alive for much longer she knew her family would have the love and people they needed to get by that they would be okay even when she wasn't there.

With that she knew she couldn't live in the negative mindset and shifted that into positive so she could start enjoying her life with her family and not take anything for granted.

That was all the hope she needed.
