The world keeps spinning, time marches on, and another chapter has been posted. I'm happy you're all here. Glad to see you're enjoying yourself so far. And we're going to keep the ball rolling right now.
Disclaimer: I don't own The Flash.
When tomorrow came, the rest of the team had been informed. Cisco and Julian had both been in shock but there was a look they made when they were discussing the omniverse that had them both intrigued. For Joe, the whole mumbo jumbo about the parallel world went over his head. To him, they were all the same; different worlds, different Forces. He wasn't particularly fussed about it.
What did have his head spinning was the war between the Forces.
"So now, we're dealing with a battle between literal gods. Just when I thought life couldn't get any weirder, we're thrown into a literal divine bout between forces of nature." Joe had a defeated look on his face. Every year there was always something that made the previous year look tame in comparison. Even the superpowers had become normal in comparison. Somehow.
"So what do we do now?" Julian asked the big question everyone was thinking.
"All we can do is wait. The Forces called us before, they'll do it again." Barry gestured to himself and implied about Alexa. She had finally gone home after Wally had decided she wasn't a threat and even if she was, it would be better if she was out of their hair, back in her own world. "We're already involved. Even if the Speed Force or Strength Force don't come back, there's no chance the other two won't make their way here."
"We should set up some kind of warning signal, so we'll be alerted if and when another Force user comes to our Earth." Caitlin said.
"Can we do that?" Joe asked.
"It's feasible. I've managed to isolate the difference between Barry and Alexa's isotopic Force signatures. Using that, I'll be able to search for other anomalies. It won't work with the Speed Force, but it should work for the others." Caitlin informed them.
"So we're dealing with a four-way war between speedsters, psychics, muscular, and time-walkers?" Cisco said just to clarify. "Are we dealing with another apocalypse?"
"We might be," Barry nodded his head.
It was late at night and Cisco couldn't get the thought out of his head for the rest of the day. He was pretty sure the others weren't doing so well themselves either. The thought that an army of people who were connected to a whole other Force was out there and could come to this dimension simply for the fact that they were associated with one of the Forces was crazy.
He wondered if he could Vibe into the other multiverses. His powers allowed him to see beyond time and space, but this might be even further than that. But the need for answers never left him. What could the Forces want with Barry and Alexa? Why were they so different that their Forces never approached them to join the frontlines? What was that weird blackout the two experienced that they had no recollection of? Maybe Cisco could find out. He just needed to get some idea of what was going on.
It was quiet in his lab when he put on his goggles and single glove. Cisco pictured Alexa in his head. He let her be the rope that guided him to a path beyond his multiverse and into the unknown regions of the omniverse.
Cisco didn't notice it, but his prosthetic began sparking in a mixture of electricity; yellow, blue, purple and green.
The sensation of being plunged into the space between worlds was jarring. He hadn't needed to do that for a while, and he'd especially been averse since his powers had rendered him comatose during Crisis. But it was familiar all the same. When the image stilled, Cisco wasn't sure what he was looking at, which wasn't actually a strange phenomenon. It usually took a while, even after the Vibe for Cisco to figure out what he was seeing.
There were four specs of light, each a distinctive color. Yellow, blue, green, and purple. And they were colliding with each other over and over again. Cisco squinted, trying to get a better look at what was happening and with time, he was able to see the world around him clearer.
Everything was gone. There was no other word for it.
There were people littered around, trying to interfere between the four way battle, but they all got vaporized by the sheer force of power each being exuded.
The ground trembled and cracked. It rewinded and broke again. An endless cycle. And it wasn't just one Earth. As they moved, they weren't moving in just one reality, Cisco could feel that the beings existed simultaneously across every reality in existence and beyond. But who or what were these things?
Cisco tried to get in closer, to hone in on them, and it seemed like he succeeded, because everything stilled. It wasn't until a moment later that he realized he wasn't the cause of it.
A world had just imploded on itself and they moved to a different one. Cisco will never be able to get that image out of his mind.
When they moved, the beings weren't fighting yet. Actually they seemed to be staring right at him. But that couldn't be possible, he couldn't interact with other people in a Vibe unless he wanted to-
"We see you," they spoke in one voice.
Ok, that was kinda creepy, Cisco isn't going to lie.
"Who are you?" Cisco asked.
"Hmph, it's another one. Should we kill him?" The purple one said, but Cisco still couldn't get a good look but this one didn't seem like a nice person.
"I think we already have, this one has been time displaced," this time the green one spoke.
"Who does it belong to?" The blue one was a little clearer, but the sudden change in size really didn't help. Her voice did seem a little familiar though, like he'd heard it recently.
"I think it's mine." Okay, that voice Cisco definitely knows. How could he not? He's been talking to that voice for the past 6 years practically everyday of his life. The shock of which completely pushed the annoyance at being referred to as an object.
"Barry," Cisco whispered.
And suddenly the figures were clear to him. He didn't know two of them, but he could guess their role in this, but the yellow lightning figure melted into Barry and the blue one turned out to be Alexa.
"I'm sorry. You have me confused. Barry's not home right now," 'Barry' tapped their head.
"Who are you?" Cisco asked.
One of the others scoffed but Cisco didn't know which, his eyes still stuck on Barry's form. "Not very bright, is he? We should just put it out of its misery."
"Don't interfere. He's not yours, and he falls under my purview. We'll send him back. Then we'll kill him." Cisco didn't like the sound of that, but it seemed like he would survive for now.
"Come Cisco, I thought you had more foresight than that." 'Barry' raised an eyebrow, that for a second glinted with pure power. Actually, even through this vibe, Cisco could feel the sheer power radiating off these beings. There could only be one answer.
"You're the Forces. All of you."
"Yes," Barry-The Speed Force reached out for him but Cisco flinched away. The Speed Force didn't follow him. "I understand it must be disconcerting to see your friend like this. But you shouldn't be concerned. It was an honour that I chose him."
"So what are you going to do to me?" Cisco asked.
"What could we do?" The Speed Force simply shrugs. "It would be redundant. You're already dead. Your Earth was one of the first to be destroyed."
"No," Cisco felt his body slacken. They'd just avoided an apocalypse. Now another one was on the horizon? There was just no end. "Why?"
"Why? They were in the way. So we got rid of them. No great loss. Plenty more where they came from."
"How many Earths have you all destroyed? The lives you've ended? All because of an argument?" Cisco shouted.
"Don't think you know us," The green-eyed one glared. "You don't know anything about us."
"Enlighten me," Cisco scoffed.
"You know the story of why we separated from each other? Why haven't we seen each other for eons until now?" The Speed Force wearing Barry's body asked with a smirk on his lips. "It was because of you,"
"The little…" The Sage Force snarled a bit. "...wiggling worms."
"We could never decide what we wanted to do with the sudden abundance of life that was not us. Whether to let you live, or thrive. Whether we should even acknowledge you. Thousands of little particles that gained a hint of sentience. In my opinion, there's still nothing very special about you," Cisco got the impression the one with the glowing purple eyes was mentally scoffing.
"I disagree, I find their ability to endure through their mediocrity inspiring," Another one, Alexa, said.
"They're playthings. Let them be and when we want, we can do whatever we desire with them. Make them do whatever we want, and if they disagree," The young man raised a glowing green fist and snapped their fingers. The area around them seemed to age for centuries and what once was a lush land became a barren wasteland. The implications were clear.
"No. In spite of everything, they are living beings. They deserve respect. The simple beings they are, they are not unworthy of their existence. We can learn to care and give love to them." 'Barry' piped up.
At that, the other Forces scoffed. Clearly, none of the others agreed with The Speed Force's sentiment.
"They are pests."
"They are interesting experiments."
"They are toys."
"They are living beings."
"We're not pets," Cisco argued. While The Speed Force had the most favorable view of human beings, it wasn't lost on him that The Speed Force saw themselves as the superior being, which Cisco didn't really have an argument against. But it was clear The Speed Force didn't really see itself as the parent it made itself out to be before, but the master in an owner and pet relationship.
"Shut up, Francisco!" All the Forces shouted as one.
Cisco was sufficiently cowed to remain quiet. He just needed to get out of this vibe. But something made him stay.
"Let's hurry up and send him back. He serves no purpose." The young man said.
"We still have yet to answer his question," 'Alexa' pointed out.
"And what was that?" The one wearing a tiki mask sounded like he was scowling.
"The reason why we're causing all this destruction." 'Barry' said. He turned to face Cisco. "In summary, we couldn't decide what to do with you, so we each took one part of the omniverse to shape to our will. We agreed to stay separate from each other. But there was a disturbance that none of us can pinpoint. And so, since none of us can own up to betrayal, we must declare war." He seemed to be subtly glaring at the other three.
Cisco took a moment to process what they said and came to his own conclusion. "Is that it? That's why you caused so much destruction? Because of something so insignificant? Why are you so contemptuous, that you would do all this?"
The Forces looked at him with a changing expression on their faces as he scolded them. The Sage Force smirked at him. "I like you Cisco. I get what your friend sees in you."
"I'll be sending you off now. We'll be seeing you soon." The Still Force reached out to him with a glowing fist. Cisco backed away though. He still had some things to say and he was going to say them. He didn't know where this sudden burst of confidence came from.
"I will stop you. I will find a way to prevent you from ever manifesting in the real world. I won't let all this come to pass. And I won't stop until I find a way." Cisco declared.
"I know you will try," 'Barry' said in an almost comforting manner. "But you will fail. You won't kill Barry. You won't kill any of our hosts. And once we have them in our grasp, there is no other entity that can stop us. Any who try will face the full might of the four of us for daring such an attempt. That is the only thing we stand by together."
"Whatever you do. Whatever tiny details you try to alter, we will always end up here." 'Alexa' said, gesturing to the situation at hand. War between the Forces. Countless worlds destroyed in the crossfire. "You will lose. So you lose," she shrugged.
"You're wrong," Cisco shook his head, tears threatening to fall from his eyes at the idea that this future was unavoidable.
"We'll be seeing each other soon, Cisco," The Speed Force called out as The Still Force sent him back. "I have a promise to keep after all."
Cisco didn't have time to question the statement because the next moment, Cisco awoke with a start. His mechanical hand exploded in a bright flash of lights of all colors. But he didn't focus on that for long, not even the small burns he suffered because of it. The only thing Cisco could think about was the vision he received. He knew one thing though.
Barry was in trouble.
Alexa had finally been allowed to return to her own Earth. The farewell party was brief, which really summed up to hoping none of them saw the other again. Alexa wasn't complaining. She didn't want to be here anymore than they did. The very air in the place made her skin itch.
When she came back, she called all her friends and colleagues that were helping her in her crusade. They all immediately bombarded her with questions as to where Alexa had gone. She'd been missing without a word for 5 days.
"I was sent to another Earth by The Strength Force. There's a war that I need to partake in apparently," Alexa mentioned.
"A war?" Marco asked. He was one of the late arrivals in the group. He had accidentally figured out her identity and had tracked her down to beg for help with his own powers, the ability to encase his arms in wood. Despite the extra layer, it somehow made him even more sensitive to injury. "How did you get involved in a war?"
"What's this omniverse you're talking about? How is that different from the multiverse we already know? It's just more out there," Kelsie asked, her best friend. The two practically grew up together, and went to med school together. Kelsie was actually the first person Alexa had told about her powers. They knew everything about each other.
"I was confused about that too when they first told me. There's a whole thing I could do with numbers as an example, but I won't. The gist of it is that a multiverse is many and an omniverse is every. Every Earth connected to The Strength Force is one multiverse." Alexa tried to explain.
All of her friends looked lost at the explanation, but they decided to drop it. It wasn't worth the headache of trying to figure it out.
"So what is this war all about?" Graham asked. "How much trouble is this going to cause us?" Graham was dating Kelsie. They got even closer after Kelsie came clean about her involvement with The Brawn and he admitted to being an abstract-human with the power to jump great heights.
Alexa shook her head in dismay. "This could be the most dangerous thing we do. If full-out war breaks out between the four Forces, then everywhere will be a warzone."
"So what are you going to do?" Ernie asked. Ernie was Kelsie's twin brother. They had a bond stronger than Alexa's friendship with her. "I seriously doubt you're just going to sit around and pray to avoid the problem."
"What can I do? Obviously The Strength Force will be able to reach me anywhere. I'll just have to keep my mental defenses up to push them out."
"You could leave. Go somewhere The Strength Force won't reach you easily. Don't make it easy for them." Kelsie suggested.
"Where could I go? The Strength Force is connected to every Earth in the multiverse."
"Yes, this multiverse. But as you so eloquently just told us, there's more than one multiverse." Marco pointed out. "Go back to that other multiverse. The Strength Force won't have as much influence there. Get behind enemy lines, so to speak,"
Alexa thought about it for a moment. It seemed like a sound idea. If she were to hide out in another multiverse, then hopefully the opposing Force would protect her from intrusion. But there were still problems with that plan. "How long would I have to stay there? I don't know how long this could last. It might be years before this war dies down and I'd be able to come back."
"We can cover for you for a couple months." Ernie assured her. "Remember when you got yourself stuck in your giant form for 5 months and couldn't show up to work? We can do that again, I'm sure. Just contact us, find a breacher, let us know how the war prevention is going and when you think you'll be able to come back."
Alexa bit her lip. She still wasn't sure about the plan. "But what about this city? Focal Town can't survive if I'm out of commission."
"You're selling us short." Kelsie said. "We might not have the power of The Strength Force behind us, but we still have plenty of abstracts to help out. If worse comes to worst, we can always call in… Kevin."
Alexa groaned. Kevin was her ex-boyfriend. She first met him in an underground fight club. She didn't know why they started dating, but they did. Maybe she thought she could change him, but he just never could. Eventually they broke up, but Alexa couldn't deny that he didn't have a useful ability. Kevin was toxic in more ways than one. He could secrete toxins through his pores and inject venom in his victims. He had poisons sacks and hollow teeth to deliver a devastating bite like a snake. And he could alter how potent his toxins were, creating effects as mild as dizziness to full on paralysis. Sometimes he even caused hallucinations.
"Obviously you would be gone if we were to call him in," Marco assured her. "You know we would never do so unless we were desperate."
"There's no way you could ever be that desperate," Alexa rolled her eyes. "You call him in if it's a last case scenario. I'm talking about the end of the world, armageddon type of deal. Anything less, and I will never forgive you,"
They all nodded their heads, assuring her that everything would be fine. Alexa still had a concerned look on her face. "Are you sure this is okay? This feels like running away, and I don't want to run."
"Don't worry. Everything will be fine. And you need to avoid this war at all costs. It's obvious The Strength Force wants you for something. We need to prevent that from happening. This is the optimal move," Graham said.
"This feels wrong," Alexa tried to argue one more time.
"You're biding your time. Waiting for the right opportunity to strike." Marco told her, making her see the greater picture. "There are other things you can do, aside from punching, to try to defeat your enemies. You don't always need to go half-cocked with a half-baked plan."
"I don't know, seems to be working well for me so far," Alexa wittily replied.
"You're just lucky to have The Strength Force backing you up. Without all that overwhelming power, you're no different from the rest of us," Ernie said.
"You want to go a few rounds? One last spar before I depart?" Alexa raised her fists, making a few shots in jest.
Their phones all started ringing. An indication that something abnormal was happening in the city. The others could all see Alexa bite her lip in contemplation of what to do. Her arms sparking blue electricity in what they assumed to be anticipation.
"You want to handle this?" Graham asked. "One last hurrah before going on indefinite hiatus?"
"Please. I am feeling the need to punch something." Alexa sighed. Closing her eyes in contemplation, Alexa's body became encased in electricity and her figure started expanding until she towered over all of them. Her giant form let out a growl that looked particularly intimidating with her glowing blue eyes.
Rushing out of there, The Brawn was quick to arrive at the scene of the crime.
When The Brawn arrived, the man, a simple person with a scraggly beard and hair reaching his shoulders let out a smirk. "So there is a muscular on this Earth. I was beginning to think there wasn't. I am Voodoo! I have come in the name of The Sage Force to claim this world for the glory of-!"
Voodoo didn't have a chance to finish because The Brawn had sent a giant fist straight at him that would have pulverized him on the spot. If it weren't for Voodoo raising his arms in a protective manner in time. A purple glow emanated from him, creating a push against The Brawn, enough to prevent her from touching him.
It wasn't exactly a force field that Voodoo created around him. It was a pressure that would push others away from him. Not something solid that could be broken, but something that could be fought through with enough strength, like the wind.
"Where is your honor, woman?" Voodoo shouted. "I introduced myself, it is only polite for you to do it in turn. Simply because we are at war does not give reason for a lack of manners."
Alexa wasn't home though. Her body sparked aggressively, enlarging her to greater heights. When she had about doubled in size, she raised a fist and tried to smash Voodoo into the pavement. Raising his arms, he again pushed against the fists, but with each attempt of The Brawn, her fists got closer and closer. Voodoo was realizing his powers weren't going to hold against her.
When The Brawn raised both hands, ready to deliver a final blow, Voodoo took a chance and used his powers to lift her in the air to fling her away. He succeeded, but he didn't get her as far as he hoped. Just down the block.
The Brawn was quick to shake off any pain and went charging after him again.
Voodoo was quickly realizing that he didn't stand much of a chance against such a being. He'd bitten off more than he could chew. All the others he'd faced didn't show this much resilience to his attacks and she packed more of a punch than others. It was clear she was a cut above the rest he'd gone up against. He needed to get out of here and cut his losses.
Voodoo pulled a street lamp out of the ground and flung it. The lamp was spinning like a saw and would have dealt a lot of damage if it weren't for the fact that The Brawn caught it in her grasp.
Using it like a bat, The Brawn took a swing at Voodoo before he had a chance to react. He was sent bouncing through the streets, scratches all over his body wherever he landed. Probably a broken leg and rib along the way. He could probably keep those things together if he didn't suffer any more injuries and get out of here.
That didn't happen. The Brawn had shrunk down to her original giant form and glared down at him, her eyes unmoving from his form. Voodoo accepted his fate and lied down. If he could speak, it was gargled from blood pooling from his mouth.
The Brawn let out a victorious roar and stabbed Voodoo through the chest with the street lamp.
The Brawn seemed like she wanted to do more to the body when she was interrupted. "Stop!"
Pulling her attention away from the carnage was all the people their host associated with. "Stop. He's already dead. Just please, stop." Kelsie had tears in her eyes after watching her best friend commit murder.
The Brawn stalked toward them, as though she were about to do the same with them with the lamp in her hands when she felt something hit the back of her head.
Touching the place of impact, she felt more than saw that whatever hit her was a liquid. Turning around, she saw someone else she recognized. Shaggy hair, scars all over his face, hollow eyes that she used to gaze into all the time. Kevin. And he had just spit at her. Venomous spit.
The Brawn snarled at him, growing to her larger form. Wanting to crush him into a paste, she reached out to grab him, but he continued spitting at her, exposing her to more of his poisons. When she finally grabbed him, The Brawn was feeling drowsy and when he sunk his fangs into her hand, she was out like a light.
When Alexa awoke again, she was in a hospital bed with all her friends looking down at her. "What happened?" she asked.
They all looked at each other in concern. "I think you really need to get out of here." Kelsie said.
"So that's when I made my way here," Alexa concluded her tale, detailing all the ordeals she had gone through since returning home and coming back.
Team Flash had to take a moment to process what they had been told.
"What kind of name is Voodoo?" Cisco said in outrage. "I would have come up with something much better,"
A brief little glimpse into The Strength Force multiverse. That was actually really fun. And Cisco's Vibe into the future to meet with The Forces. What did you think of them? Each of them are different in how they see life in general as immortal beings. Some are bored of them, others find them interesting. Either way, they all see them as lesser and entirely disposable. They are completely okay with destroying the entire omniverse just to suss out the one who siphoned away a foreign Force. To them, this is just another Big Bang. They're wiping the slate clean to start over. The future is unfolding. I can't wait until we have a full cast.
